Didn't seem to have been the case here, looking at my /var/log/apt/term.log (all from one run): Removing unrar-free (1:0.0.1+cvs20140707-4+b1) ... Removing update-inetd (4.51) ... Removing usbmuxd (1.1.1-2) ... ... [snipsnap] ... Purging configuration files for aspell-en (2018.04.16-0-1) ... Purging configuration files for update-inetd (4.51) ... Purging configuration files for rpm (4.16.1.2+dfsg1-0.6) ... https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html seems to say: The meaning of the five dependency fields is as follows: Depends ... Finally, the Depends field should be used if the depended-on package is needed by the postrm script to fully clean up after the package removal. There is no guarantee that package dependencies will be available when postrm is run, but the depended-on package is more likely to be available if the package declares a dependency (particularly in the case of postrm remove). The postrm script must gracefully skip actions that require a dependency if that dependency isn’t available. > > Can you please expand this bug from the system on which the error > occurred using report-bug. tags 987805 + moreinfo tags 987805 + unreproducible quit Hello Christoph, thank you for spending your time helping to make Debian better with this bug report. the problem at point 2 cannot be shown here. Because of the dependencies, sane-utils is always deleted before update-inetd. Can you please expand this bug from the system on which the error occurred using report-bug. This will give me information for further investigation. Thanks in advance CU Jörg Am Freitag, dem 30.04.2021 um 03:08 +0200 schrieb Christoph Anton Mitterer: > Package: sane-utils > Version: 1.0.31-4 > Severity: normal > > > > Hi. > > On purging the package there are leftovers: > > 1) The saned user/group aren't removed. > > 2) When update-inetd is also purged in the same run (which is not so > unlikely, > when it was pulled in by saned-utils): > Purging configuration files for sane-utils (1.0.31-4) ... > /var/lib/dpkg/info/sane-utils.postrm: 31: update-inetd: not found > /var/lib/dpkg/info/sane-utils.postrm: 32: update-inetd: not found > /var/lib/dpkg/info/sane-utils.postrm: 31: update-inetd: not found > /var/lib/dpkg/info/sane-utils.postrm: 32: update-inetd: not found > > Cheers, > Chris. -- New: GPG Fingerprint: 63E0 075F C8D4 3ABB 35AB 30EE 09F8 9F3C 8CA1 D25D GPG key (long) : 09F89F3C8CA1D25D GPG Key: 8CA1D25D CAcert Key S/N : 0E:D4:56 Old pgp Key: BE581B6E (revoked since 2014-12-31). Bug#987805: sane-utils: package doesn't purge cleanly
Package: sane-utils Version: 1.0.31-4 Severity: normal Hi. On purging the package there are leftovers: 1) The saned user/group aren't removed. 2) When update-inetd is also purged in the same run (which is not so unlikely, when it was pulled in by saned-utils): Purging configuration files for sane-utils (1.0.31-4) ... /var/lib/dpkg/info/sane-utils.postrm: 31: update-inetd: not found /var/lib/dpkg/info/sane-utils.postrm: 32: update-inetd: not found /var/lib/dpkg/info/sane-utils.postrm: 31: update-inetd: not found /var/lib/dpkg/info/sane-utils.postrm: 32: update-inetd: not found Cheers, Chris.
