Bug#295265: Kopete icq5 fix - please test this package and report back
Hello, We've built a kopete package that contains a fix for the icq5 crash, by disabling rich-text support. Please test the package, and let us know soon if it does indeed resolve the issue. Cheers, Christopher Martin Package: http://the-swirl.org/~adeodato/tmp/2005/03/20/kopete-and-icq5/kopete_3.3.2-2~test1_i386.deb pgp9ol0KXlNsX.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#293798: gnucash crashes upon start-up
severity 293798 important tags 293798 -sarge thanks Hi Thomas, The version of gnucash that fixes this bug has reached testing now; however, I'm concerned about the way you fixed it: * control (gnucash): Depend on dfontmgr, psfontmgr, x-ttcidfont-conf, and lmodern. Thanks to Antony W. Serio ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) for the fix. (Closes: #293798). Why does any package need to depend on a GUI font management tool (dfontmgr)? I did have psfontmgr and x-ttcidfont-conf installed previously here, and gnucash worked fine -- I did not have dfontmgr installed, and I can't imagine any reason I should need it. The gnucash package really shouldn't be forcing its installation, AFAICT. I'm also not sure what the lmodern font has to do with error messages about -adobe-helvetica-, either, and I suspect this dependency is also spurious as I did not have that font installed before. Thanks, -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#300497: FTBFS: bsh-1.3.0 with jikes as javac & lacks build-deps: lynx
Package: bsh Version: 1.3.0-2 Severity: grave Tags: patch There's two small glitches in that prevents proper compilation of the package. 1. It lacks build-deps: on lynx, which is used to generate Changelog from Changelog.html 2. It does not compile with a less forgiving java compilers than, I supect, kjc is. Basically the root dir of the sources is tmp, so 'cd tmp/bsh' does not put you into the root dir, as intended. Then javac is not able to find ie. tmp/bsh/bsh/NameSpace (= bsh.NameSpace) and compilation fails. A patch for the second problem is attached, please apply. Thanks & cheers, Grzegorz B. Prokopski PS: Please don't be offended by the 'grave' severity of this tivial bug. Unless I am seriously mistaken an FTBFS is generally an RC-class bug, so I had little choice. -- Grzegorz B. Bug#298961: New patch for NMU
The following patch fixes a couple problems with the previous NMU: . Change to epplets/Makefile.in and epplets/Makefile.am to not copy the font, but symlink . Fix the symlinks in the epplet_data that were pointing to the fonts through an incorrect relative path, rather than the correct absolute path Additionally, since the native aspect of the package was an accident and because I'm uploading fresh source, I am turning it back into a non-native package again, and the .orig.tar.gz will actually have the non-free .ttf removed from this upload. This is a partial fix, not a complete one; the other problem is that mesa is also FTBFS right now because of arch:all / arch:any skew, where the empty mesa-common-dev is being installed together with the old mesag-dev, and these headers are missing from the system. This repackaging of mesa needs some serious re-thinking; perhaps the above fix, together with fixing mesa so it doesn't require itself for bootstrapping, is the best choice. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#300440: post-installation returns error code 21 if /usr/share/doc/menu/html does not exist
reassign dhelp quit On Sat, Mar 19, 2005 at 08:40:16PM +0100, Marc Langer wrote: > Package: menu > Version: 2.1.22 > Severity: serious > Justification: Policy 12.3 > > I deleted /usr/share/doc/* to get more disk space and then updated > menu from woody to sid. post-installation returned with error code 21 > as /usr/share/doc/menu/html did not exist and the .dhelp file could not > be created there. Hello Marc (and Stephan) .dhelp files are created by /usr/sbin/dhelp_parse which is part of the dhelp package, not by menu. What happens is that menu postinst register documentation through doc-base. This cause /usr/sbin/dhelp_parse to be run if dhelp is installed. The menu package include a file /usr/share/doc-base/menu that includes the following lines: Format: HTML Index: /usr/share/doc/menu/html/index.html Files: /usr/share/doc/menu/html/*.html This is that file that cause /usr/sbin/dhelp_parse to try to create a dhelp file. I don't think Policy 12.3 can be read to forbid such reference, and there are lots of packages registering documentation in /usr/share/doc. I am sure however that this is not a useful reading, because doing so will require moving a lot of documentation outside /usr/share/doc which will greatly reduce the potential space-saving of removing it. So I would conclude this is rather a bug in dhelp itself that should handle missing directories gracefully (which is always a good idea independently of policy). > Debian Policy Manual section 12.3 says that /usr/share/doc must not > exist and no package should rely on it. s/must/might/ please :) Thanks for your bug report, -- Bill. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Imagine a large red swirl here. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#300432: Spontaneously reboots server...
Package: watchdog Version: 5.2.4-2 Severity: grave I am getting errors 101 and 2 resulting in system reboot when trying to use advanced features of the deamon. I was trying to use: ping interface file min-memory pidfile with realtime=yes and priority=19 seems that watchdog is restarting system if any event occurs in 10 sec interval. The problem is: upgrading system with watchdog running (restart of deamons could/will trigger watchdog) seems that for some reason watchdog is getting false events but I have not examined that. It can for example restart my machine again and again when using pid or file option. Last thing (it should be probably separate bug report): watchdog starts too early. If I want to monitor any other deamon than syslog my computer will never start with current configuration. I think that watchdog should be started at 99 not 10 in rc runlevels. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (101, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.7 Locale: LANG=pl_PL, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL (charmap=ISO-8859-2) Versions of packages watchdog depends on: ii devfsd 1.3.25-19Daemon for the device file system ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii makedev 2.3.1-75 Creates device files in /dev -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#300388: libxml-commons-resolver1.1-java: FTBFS: NullPointerException
Hi Grzegorz, Grzegorz B. Prokopski wrote: Hi, That was an issue with setting default locales, and is already fixed in unstable (fix will be propagated into testing soon). Please just try to use ANT with this version and everything should be all right. Or actually you don't need to do anything :-) Well there was something fixed with an NMU and it has already propagated to testing - but it didn't fix the sablevm ant interaction problem. I am running uptodate unstable and everytime i try to build a package with ant and sablevm I run in this problem - for example bsh-1.3.0 with sablevm in the clean target: java.lang.NullPointerException at java.text.DecimalFormatSymbols.setCurrency (DecimalFormatSymbols.java:397) at java.text.DecimalFormatSymbols.DecimalFormatSymbols (DecimalFormatSymbols.java:151) at java.text.NumberFormat.computeInstance (NumberFormat.java:327) at java.text.NumberFormat.getNumberInstance (NumberFormat.java:456) at java.text.NumberFormat.getInstance (NumberFormat.java:381) at java.text.MessageFormatElement.setLocale (MessageFormat.java:90) at java.text.MessageFormat.scanFormat (MessageFormat.java:314) at java.text.MessageFormat.applyPattern (MessageFormat.java:335) at java.text.MessageFormat.formatInternal (MessageFormat.java:465) at java.text.MessageFormat.format (MessageFormat.java:403) at java.text.MessageFormat.format (MessageFormat.java:518) at java.text.Format.format (Format.java:101) at org.apache.tools.ant.util.DateUtils.formatElapsedTime (DateUtils.java:132) at org.apache.tools.ant.DefaultLogger.formatTime (DefaultLogger.java:276) at org.apache.tools.ant.DefaultLogger.buildFinished (DefaultLogger.java:156) at org.apache.tools.ant.Project.fireBuildFinished (Project.java:1796) at org.apache.tools.ant.Main.runBuild (Main.java:693) at org.apache.tools.ant.Main.startAnt (Main.java:188) at org.apache.tools.ant.Main.start (Main.java:151) at org.apache.tools.ant.Main.main (Main.java:241) at java.lang.VirtualMachine.invokeMain (VirtualMachine.java) at java.lang.VirtualMachine.main (VirtualMachine.java:108) The problem is also reported as bug #293509 on sablevm. Bug#300423: libppd-dev: ppd.h moved from includedir to pkgincludedir
Package: libppd Severity: serious Hi, the new libppd-dev includes ppd.h in /usr/include/libppd/, not /usr/include/ as documented by the man pages. This is caused by src/Makefile.am: pkginclude_HEADERS=ppd.h ppdenums.h ppdmacros.h Formerly, this was an include_HEADERS. This causes packages build-depending on libppd-dev to FTBFS (e.g. gpr). (If the change is intended, please document it and reassign the bug to packages that build-depend upon libppd-dev.) They often ship with untested GNU Classpath CVS snapshots which they call sablevm-classpath. The above was a small bug we fixed before the official GNU Classpath release. Apparently it is possible to make sablevm use stable well tested GNU Classpath releases. http://sablevm.org/lists/sablevm-devel/2004-November/000223.html It would be a good idea to fix the sablevm packages so they use this option by default in Debian against the latest official classpath package to prevent hitting these kind of bugs in unreleased/untested sablevm-classpath drops. Normally such build errors will be caused by old libraries on the buildd that still require libhowl0. The package should build fine in a up-to-date chroot (of course it is possible that the libraries in question just haven't been build for arm so that the package will need to be set to dep-wait).
