Bug#316477: apache2-mpm-worker fails to execute any CGIs!

2005-06-30 Thread andy
Package: apache2-mpm-worker
Version: 2.0.54-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

With mpm-worker and cgid, CGIs can't execute, because somewhere compiled
into the code is that path /var/run/cgisock which is quite different
from the /var/run/apache2/cgisock that comes specified in the cgid.conf
file! Without doing an strace, I would never have been able to figure
it out. Strace output, abreviated ~:^)

Well, given that you filed three bugs all about the same issue, yes, two of
them would seem to be duplicates.

(Sorry if this is a dupe, i had filled it against
kernel-image-2.6.11-amd64-generic).

Since kernel-image-2.6.11-amd64-generic 2.6.11-4, the kernel-image won't
boot.

The first error message says something like:
" Can't load shared object file libc.so.6 "
The second error message says it can't find sda1.

My hypothesis is that the necessary modules for my onboard SATA
controller are no longer included in the initrd image.

I HAVEN'T modified /etc/mkinitrd/mkinitrd.conf.

I've a pretty common Asus K8V-X motherboard which SATA ctrler
requires at least scsi_mod, sata_via and libata to work.

Booting with the current kernel-image-2.6.8-amd64-generic image works fine.
I'm happy i kept my very old image before upgrading 2.6.11!!

Bug#315923: Workaround

2005-06-30 Thread Everett Lipman
Here is a workaround that appears to solve all of the
problems I mentioned in the initial report. This
is necessarily specific to a Dell Dimension 8400 with
similar BIOS (mine is version A01 of 07/17/04).

1. Before booting the install disk, enter the
   BIOS "System Setup".

2. Using the menu, select "Drives".

3. From the resulting submenu, select "SATA Operation".

4. From the 4 operation modes offered, select

   RAID Autodetect / ATA .

   The other three options are

   RAID Autodetect / AHCI
   RAID On
   Combination

5. Boot the install disk.

6. At the prompt, enter "expert26".

The rest of the installation went fine, and both the hard
drive and CDROM were found after bootup once installation
was complete.

Bug#316466: bpalogin must not be stopped during upgrade

2005-06-30 Thread kk87
Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: serious
Method: aptitude over ssh
Upgrade date: Sat July 11th 2005 (started, not finished until the
following week)
uname -a: Linux tyreth.homelinux.org 2.4.26 #1 Mon Jul 26 17:03:33 EST
2004 i686 GNU/Linux

I tried to upgrade a computer from Woody to Sarge remotely via SSH, but
it failed during the ugprade process because dpkg stopped bpalogin.
bpalogin is an unofficial login client for cable and ADSL connections on
Telstra Bigpond, one of Australia's largest ISPs.
Without a login client running, no internet traffic can pass to or from
the machine.

Once bpalogin stopped, my SSH session froze and the upgrade stalled at
the next configuration question. The computer was disconnected from the
internet for several days until the owner returned and was able to
restart bpalogin at the console. After that, I was able to complete the
upgrade and all services are now operating normally.

Bpalogin must be treated the same way as SSH and other essential
services: it must not be left in a stopped state while other packages
are upgraded. I understand it may not be possible to fix this problem
for Sarge; if that is so, then a warning should be added to the release
notes.

it works in sid already (and is documented in the man page there, too)
and will certainly in etch. But you are right
that it won't work for woody and sarge chroots. I still believe it would
be wrong to use --force-yes since that may override many valid errors
while --allow-unauthenticated will only override the one error we're
seeing. Perhaps we can detect wether we need the option, somehow?

It would be nice if there was such an option, but I see no hint of it
in 'man apt-get' or 'apt-get --help'.

pbuilder needs to work with multiple releases, so if there was such a
new option that did not work in woody, sarge, etch and sid it souldn't
be used. (or pbuilder could be comlicated to test for it...)

Bug#316453: kernel-image-2.6.11-amd64-generic: Fails to boot since 2.6.11-4

2005-06-30 Thread Pascal Giard

Package: kernel-image-2.6.11-amd64-generic
Version: 2.6.11-4
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Since 2.6.11-4, the kernel-image won't boot.

Bug#316383: problem installing ia32-libs_1.4_amd64.deb

2005-06-30 Thread moret

Package: ia32-libs
Version: 1.4
Severity: grave

When I attempt to install ia32-libs, I get the following error:

(Reading database ... 121750 files and directories currently installed.)
  Unpacking ia32-libs (from ia32-libs_1.4_amd64.deb) ...
  dpkg-divert: `diversion of /usr/bin/ldd to /usr/bin/ldd.ia32-libs by

subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 2
   Errors were encountered while processing:
ia32-libs_1.4_amd64.deb

from which it would seem that the package is attempting two simultaneous
and conflicting diversions.

I am running a pure 64-bit system, originally installed from an Ubuntu
distro, but by now bearing no trace of Ubuntu, as my updates all come from
http://debian-amd64.alioth.debian.org/debian
(using the unstable branch).
Kernel is 2.6.12.1, compiled under gcc 3.4.5.

Any help or comments appreciated!

This is (and was) #315914 [0], which I reopened last night. The
override file [1] still needs updating (I am assuming that it is the
"sid" one which is updated, and that "etch" overrides are updated
daily depending on which packages are propogating, no?).

Our automated buildd log filter [1] detected a problem that will cause
your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a pointer
is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64:

Function `str_default_name' implicitly converted to pointer at variables.c:74
Function `g_malloc' implicitly converted to pointer at memory.c:22

Bug#316362: security problem with drupal

2005-06-30 Thread Aleksey I Zavilohin
Package: drupal
Version: 4.5.3-2
Severity: grave
Justification: user security hole

See http://drupal.org/files/sa-2005-002/advisory.txt

Drupal security advisory DRUPAL-SA-2005-002

Advisory ID:DRUPAL-SA-2005-002
Date: 2005-jun-29
Security risk: highly critical
Impact: system access
Where: from remote
Vulnerability: arbitrary PHP code execution

Description
---
Kuba Zygmunt discovered a flaw in the input validation routines of Drupal's
filter mechanism. An attacker could execute arbitrary PHP code on a target
site when public comments or postings are allowed.

Versions affected
-
Drupal 4.5.0, 4.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.5.3
Drupal 4.6.0, 4.6.1

Solution

Either disable public comments and postings, or upgrade to the latest Drupal
version:
- If you cannot upgrade immediately, you can secure your site by disabling
public postings and comments. Log in as an administrator, go to
"administer >> access control" and make sure that untrusted roles don't
have the permissions to submit or edit content.
- If you are running Drupal 4.5.x, then upgrade to Drupal 4.5.4.
- If you are running Drupal 4.6.x, then upgrade to Drupal 4.6.2.

Bug#311264: kwiki 0.36-1 uninstallable due to missing libkwiki-perl

2005-06-30 Thread Nick Phillips

Mohammed Adnène Trojette wrote:

# apt-get install kwiki

kwiki: Depends: libkwiki-perl (>= 0.36-2) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

I have just tried to have a look at this one.

Unfortunately, I did not understand well the packaging:

1/ there seems to be a typo in debian/control:

Depends: ${perl:Depends}, ${shlibs:Depends}, liblocale-maketext-perl,
libkwiki-perl (>= 0.36-2)
Provides: libcgi-kwiki-perl

The new package is first called libkwiki-perl and then
libcgi-kwiki-perl. Moreover, it is not defined in debian/control :(

2/ kwiki seems to be a transition package as said in debian/changelog:

 * Compatibility package to enable gentler transition between
old-style kwiki and new-style kwiki, also ensuring that new
users don't accidentally get into old-style kwiki.

and in the description:

This package is here to make sure people don't accidentally
start new Kwikis using the old-style CGI::Kwiki system.
.
If you are starting a new Kwiki, you DO NOT NEED this
package. Install the libkwiki-perl package instead.

3/ however, it doesn't use the classical way to make a smooth
transition, that is to say defining a dummy package kwiki depending on
the new libkwiki-perl package that replaces kwiki and conflicts kwiki.

4/ I have tried to make a submittable patch, but I noticed that 0.36-1
was using upstream's 0.18 release (I may have been mistaken).

As far as I am concerned, I thus think that this package is an
incomplete transition package. Did I misunderstood something?

The fact that the new replacement package was rejected by ftpmaster, and
I haven't completed repackaging yet. I'm working on it.

Cheers,

Nick

Bug#316348: sqlite3: Timeout does not expire on SQLLITE_BUSY

2005-06-30 Thread Paul Beardsell
Package: sqlite3
Version: 3.2.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

1st session:

$ sqlite3 db
begin transaction;
update tabfoo set colbar = 'y';

Now leave the transaction uncommitted and go to
2nd session:

$ sqlite3 db
.timeout 30
update tabfoo set barbar = 'x';

In 300 seconds this update should time out with SQLITE_BUSY error.
Return to 1st session:

commit;

The 2nd session should now perform its
update and return. But instead it hangs.
