Bug#316960: evolution: Evo doesn't display messages after crash

2005-07-05 Thread Thomas Quas
Package: evolution
Version: 2.2.2-4
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

My machine crashed while I had Evo running. After reboot, Evo didn't display
messages in my Inbox any longer. Only after deleting .#evolution and ..cmeta
(don't know which one's the one which fixed it) Evo worked correctly again.

Bug#316955: upgrade-reports: system hangs after woody-sarge upgrade

2005-07-05 Thread Victor Munoz
Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

My system would not boot after the woody-sarge upgrade.

I followed the instructions in the Debian Release notes for sarge:

- edit sources.list

deb http://ftp.jp.debian.org/debian/ sarge main non-free contrib
deb http://security.debian.org/ sarge/updates main contrib non-free

- apt-get update
- aptitude install aptitude
- aptitude install doc-base
- aptitude -f --with-recommends dist-upgrade

The only problem until now was that I had to remove festival for the
upgrade to proceed (reported as a separate bug, #316948). The upgrade went
on apparently succesfully, installing and configuring packages as needed.
The release notes only ask to pay attention to the XFree upgrade notes
before rebooting:

/usr/share/doc/xfree86-common/README.Debian-upgrade.gz

I checked it. I did not upgrade kernel. I thought it was safe to reboot.
But the system hang, with LI being the only text on screen.

I used a woody bootable CD to check the system. The problem was solved
after I run 'lilo'. However, I understand that is only necessary if
lilo.conf is changed, or a new kernel is installed. Nothing of that happened.

$ ls -l lilo.conf
-rw-r- 1 root root 4131 2004-02-02 20:04 lilo.conf

Checking the typescript of the upgrade session, I noticed that lilo was
updated:

Preparing to replace lilo 1:22.2-3 (using .../lilo_1%3a22.6.1-6.2_i386.deb)
...
Unpacking replacement lilo ...
Preparing to replace lilo-doc 1:22.2-3 (using
.../lilo-doc_1%3a22.6.1-6.2_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement lilo-doc ...

[...]

Setting up lilo (22.6.1-6.2) ...

Setting up lilo-doc (22.6.1-6.2) ...

Naively maybe, I would have expected lilo to have been re-run if necessary
during the upgrade. Maybe a mention of lilo issues in the Release Notes
would have been welcome.

Regards,
Victor

Bug#316973: libnss-ldap: [CAN-2005-2069] Does not use TLS for referred connections

2005-07-05 Thread Martin Pitt
Package: libnss-ldap
Severity: grave
Tags: security
thanks

Hi!

When using referred connections (i. e. nss-ldap talking to a slave
server which refers to a master server) and openldap is configured to
use TLS, then TLS is not used for the referred connection (slave -
master). This means that passwords are sent in cleartext between slave
and master.

See

  http://bugzilla.padl.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211

for details and a patch. Sid's openldap2 and openldap2.2 packages
already have the required bug fix in the TLS authentication sanity
check (see #316674), just openldap2's changelog is misleading (it
doesn't actually enable the TLS for referred connections, it just
fixes the sanity check).

Please mention CAN-2005-2069 in the changelog when you fix this.

Thanks,

Martin

Bug#316951: openoffice.org2: compile errors

2005-07-05 Thread Rene Engelhard
tag 316951 + pending
thanks

Hi,

Brian May wrote:
When compiling on a Ubuntu system with gcc-4.0 4.0_4.0.0ds1-11 ported
from Debian, I noticed some compile errors. I think some of these are
applicable to Debian, so I am reporting my solutions here in case they
 can help others.

Please do TEST whether it is applicable to Debian. This is the Debian
BTS, not the Ubuntu one. i

If it doesn't fail in Debian it's not really a problem for the Debian BTS
(I do accept patches of course...).

[ Well, in this case the first two are, the third is builder error...
See below ]

#1. configure script reported error that it can't find jni.h. I found
this was because jni.h is located under the gcc 4.0 include directory:

 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/cache/pbuilder/result$ dpkg -c
 libgcj6-dev_4.0.0-11.ivt.1_i386.deb | grep jni.h
 -rw-r--r-- root/root 62692 2005-07-04 17:22:24
 ./usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.0.1/include/jni.h

Meaning it can only be found by gcc-4.0.1. However, debian/rules
 was still using 3.4.

It uses java-gcj-compats jni.h symlink.
It should work on Debian but I did not test it anymnore with m108 since I
already am at 114. And you need java-gcj-compat-dev in Build-Depends
instead of only java-gcj-compat since java-gcj-compat was split.

#2. Error that libjawt doesn't exist. This is because it was renamed to
libgcjawt in version gcc-4.0 4.0.0ds1-9ubuntu1, which is in the Debian
 version.

 Solution:
[ snip ]

I am not stupid. I know what causes this, especially since I added that
patch myself at the time gcc still has libjawt. I even got doko to
backport the change. And newer versions have a configure check for this.

 #3. Compile error:

[ snip ]

That's because you use 4.0. I know why I used 3.4 because binfilter
didn't get patches to work with 4.0 at that time yet. This is NO FTBFS
bug in the official package since you decided to build with a compiler
known to not work with 1.9.108-1.

 ooo-build/build/src680-m108/binfilter/bf_forms/source/component/forms_Image.cxx,
but no declaration of the class.

You need forward declarations. Also already fixed.

Regards,

Rene

Bug#316738: missing files (boo.pc and boo.lang)

2005-07-05 Thread Sam Clegg
OK, I'm about to upload a new upstream version and include those two
files.

Also, I've added the strings.resources.

I'm not sure where the boo Nant dll should be installed. Presumably
not in the GAC but in some Nant directory. Perhaps I should revert to
using nant install rather than list everything in debian/install.

Hi,

Because of a bug in the libmad package (#310311) it lost it's
shlibs and as a result you don't have a versioned dependency on
libmad0 anymore. This could potentialy break partial upgrades.

The release team has asked me to file this bug with the
sarge-ignore tag:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2005/06/msg00031.html

The 0.5.5.1651-2 version of the boo package is missing some files which
the -1 version had, and 2 of them are important for usage and linking

boo.pc is missing in -2, thus monodevelop for example can't be build

boo.lang is missing in -2, means no syntax highlighting for the

Bug#316951: openoffice.org2: compile errors

2005-07-05 Thread Brian May
Rene == Rene Engelhard [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

Rene Please do TEST whether it is applicable to Debian. This is
Rene the Debian BTS, not the Ubuntu one. i

Rene If it doesn't fail in Debian it's not really a problem for
Rene the Debian BTS (I do accept patches of course...).

The source is from Debian... The gcc-4.0 I used is also from Debian. I
added a disclaimer just in case it helped, maybe I shouldn't have
mentioned Ubuntu? It seems to have been a distraction.

I get the impression that the cause of problem #1 and #3 were due to
my confusion in java-gcj-compat being split. I believe it was split in
the Debian version of the package. I also believe that problem #2 was
due to a change gcc-4.0, this is also applicable to Debian. Hence I
would argue that the bugs are Debian specific, even when my
work-arounds did not produce a working solution.

However, if you continue to disagree, what do you think is the correct
forum for getting assistance in such cases? Ubuntu would claim that
their BTS is the wrong forum, as they would claim the source is from
Debian, and they don't support it. Upstream would make similar claims,
in fact the packaging issues have nothing to do with upstream.

openoffice.org2 takes so long to compile (read: hours), I didn't
really want to have to repeat the process on a Debian chroot. I
thought it was better that I consult an expert - the Debian packager,
and it would appear I was right - you already knew the answers.

Rene It uses java-gcj-compats jni.h symlink. It should work on
Rene Debian but I did not test it anymnore with m108 since I
Rene already am at 114. And you need java-gcj-compat-dev in
Rene Build-Depends instead of only java-gcj-compat since
Rene java-gcj-compat was split.

Ok, so it was meant to compile against gcc 3.4. This confused me
because the build depends have a lot of references to packages built
from gcc-4.0 source.

If the symlink was in java-gcj-compats it didn't work, maybe the
symlink was moved to java-gcj-compat-dev?

#2. Error that libjawt doesn't exist. This is because it was
renamed to libgcjawt in version gcc-4.0 4.0.0ds1-9ubuntu1,
which is in the Debian version.

Rene I am not stupid. I know what causes this, especially since I
Rene added that patch myself at the time gcc still has libjawt. I
Rene even got doko to backport the change. And newer versions
Rene have a configure check for this.

I thought if I added the solution here it could

a) help you identify the cause of my problem.

b) help others who encounter the same problem.

c) eliminate wasting time by you needing to get clarifications I have
since forgotten.

I apologise if I insulted you in anyway by providing too much
information.

 #3. Compile error:

Rene [ snip ]

Rene That's because you use 4.0. I know why I used 3.4 because
Rene binfilter didn't get patches to work with 4.0 at that time
Rene yet. This is NO FTBFS bug in the official package since you
Rene decided to build with a compiler known to not work with
Rene 1.9.108-1.

ooo-build/build/src680-m108/binfilter/bf_forms/source/component/forms_Image.cxx,
but no declaration of the class.

Rene You need forward declarations. Also already fixed.

I guess I need to decide now if it is more productive fixing m108, the
latest version in experimental or waiting for a new version to be
released.

I get the impression that version 108 in Debian experimental is old
and obsolete. Is there another place I should be looking to get the
most up-to-date package?

Thanks

I am not stupid. I know what causes this, especially since I added that

Not to mention that if you fixed 1. by using java-gcj-compat-dev then it

#3 not. #3 is just that you changed to a compiler which didn't yet work with
the source. #1 is java-gcj-compat[-dev] problem and #2 is that patch.

After a second look, although the newest java-gcj-compat contains a libjawt.so
link it'd not help anyway since it doesn't look in i386/ for JDK == gcj.

yeah, gcj/gij 4.0 and libcj6. Because that's what can build OOs Java stuff.

If the symlink was in java-gcj-compats it didn't work, maybe the
 symlink was moved to java-gcj-compat-dev?

Yep.

I apologise if I insulted you in anyway by providing too much
 information.

Well, in this case it was really clear what the error is, so... I other cases
you of course should give info, but in this trivial case... (at least for
someone who did the offending patch himself as gcj had libjawt..)

Rene You need forward declarations. Also already fixed.

I guess I need to decide now if it is more productive fixing m108, the

I'd wait. Why do you want to rebuild it anyway?

I get the impression that version 108 in Debian experimental is old
and obsolete. Is there another place I should be looking to get the
 most up-to-date package?

there's source for 1.9.110-0pre1 on p.d.o but I thik it will fail to build,
too. I am currently working on 1.9.114 which needs some finetuning still I
guess and then a i386 and powerpc (17 hrs!) build before I can upload it.

thank you for your interest in phpGroupWare and your bug report.
Unfortunately, the fix to this bug didn't make it into sarge (it's
contained in phpGroupWare 0.9.16.005-4 and above).
I will contact the release manager whether this can be fixed in a future
revision.

Kind regards

This bug is present in the stable version of wordpress. A proper DSA
and fix is needed. Note that the CAN for this is
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CAN-2005-2108

There are also a number of other ones fixed in wordpress 1.5.1.3;
CAN-2005-2109, CAN-2005-2110, CAN-2005-2107, and possibly more that I
missed. I can't seem to find an upstream changelog for it, but 1.5.1.3
might be made up entirely of security fixes.

It's possible to read any file on the system.
File: include/functions.inc.php
Vulnerable function: select_lang_config()
Vulnerable code:

[...]
$lang_config_cookie = (isset($HTTP_COOKIE_VARS['ConfLangCookie'])) ?
$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS['ConfLangCookie'] : '';
$force_config = (isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['lang_config'])) ?

if
($lang_conf == '') {
$lang_conf = 'francais.inc.php';

### Getting the good $txt var from the lang res file

Vulnerability details and exploitation way:
It's possible to use the ConfLangCookie cookie value or the lang_config
post value to specify an arbitrary file, that will be included with the
include './lang/'.$lang_conf istruction.
If one of ConfLangCookie or lang_config value is
../../../../../../../../../../../etc/passwd, it's possible to read the
userlist.

Simple patch:

if
($lang_conf == '') {
$lang_conf = 'francais.inc.php';
}
+ if (strpos(.., $lang_conf) !== FALSE) die(Invalid language file);

Bug#315348: Bug 315348: ftp.debian.org: intltool-debian size mismatch

 intltool-debian has a size mismatch on ftp.debian.org. Here's the
 error message.

 Failed to fetch
 http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/i/intltool-debian/intltool-debian_0.30+20040213_all.deb
   Size mismatch

This looks like a configuration error on your side (or at least
somewhere between you and ftp.d.o) on the basis that

- it works fine here (and presumably for everyone else who hasn't
reported a bug)

- ftp.debian.org is 128.101.80.133 and 208.185.25.35

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ wget -q -O- \
  http://128.101.80.133/debian/dists/testing/main/binary-i386/Packages |
\
  egrep -A10 '^Package: intltool-debian' | egrep '^(Version|Size)'

Version: 0.30+20040213
Size: 23514

(the result being identical across both servers, and both testing and
unstable package lists) and

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ wget -S
http://128.101.80.133/debian/pool/main/i/intltool-debian/intltool-debian_0.30+20040213_all.deb
 21 | egrep '(Content-Length| saved )'

 7 Content-Length: 23514
20:32:29 (41.47 KB/s) - `intltool-debian_0.30+20040213_all.deb' saved
[23514/23514]

As far as I can see, everything matches (at least today :-)

Regards,

Adam

shadow does not build with dpkg-dev 1.13 because the output of
dpkg-architecture has changed.

Bug#316479: clusterssh: cssh does not start and complains about X11/Protocol.pm

2005-07-05 Thread tony mancill
I have tagged this bug unreproducible. I did a fresh install of sarge
and the apt-get -f dist-upgrade to sid and was not able to reproduce
this problem.

I did find some other problems related to -xrm
'XTerm.VT100.allowSendEvents:true' that are most likely going to
necessitate removing the dependency on x-terminal-emulator and depending
only on xterm and rxvt (and other x-terminal-emulators that provide
support for this option).

Bug#317073: FTBFS: Incompatible with dpkg 1.13

2005-07-05 Thread Matt Kraai
Package: busybox-cvs
Version: 20040623-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

This package fails to build from source with recent versions of
dpkg-dev:

 cp .config
 cp: missing destination file
Try `cp --help' for more information.
 make: *** [build-arch-floppy-udeb-stamp] Error 1

This is because it expects DEB_HOST_GNU_SYSTEM to contain linux,
whereas with new versions of dpkg-dev it contains linux-gnu. Please
see

 http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/06/msg00010.html

for more information.

The attached patch fixes it.

This file has moved from /usr/include/postgresql to

Once I'd fixed this, it failed because it couldn't find libssl.

The attached patch fixes both of these problems.

Bug#317022: new udev in sid breaks usbmount(cannnot execute /sbin/udev_volume_id)

2005-07-05 Thread WANG WenRui
Around 23 o'clock on 05 Jul, Martin Dickopp wrote:
 Hi,

Thank you for the bug report.

I'll have a new usbmount version ready in two or three days. Another
change which would break usbmount is planned for the next udev version
(support for /etc/dev.d will be dropped), so I want to fix both issues
 at the same time.

In the meantime, you can make usbmount work again by applying the
 attached patch to /usr/share/usbmount/usbmount.
Thanks

 Cheers,
 Martin

Bug#315178: FTBFS: Build-depends on libnautilus2-dev instead of libnautilus-extension-dev

abiword fails to build because its build-dependency on

  libnautilus-extension-dev instead.

The following patch makes it build again (besides, I bumped the
 Standards-Version).

 (Build-depends on libgnomeui-dev instead of libnautilus2-dev)

I don't know whether it is better to build depends on libgnomeui-dev or
 libnautilus-extension-dev (./configure talks about libgnomeui).

 Should I retitle the bug?

Sure.

Bug#317082: libc6-s390x: missing depends on lib64gcc1

2005-07-05 Thread Ryan Murray
Package: libc6-s390x
Severity: serious
Tags: sarge, etch, sid

libc6-s390x is missing a depends on lib64gcc1 that causes gcc to fail to link
when -m64 is used on an s390 system.

I'm filling the bug here rather than on the gcc-VERSION packages because the
sparc64 packages have the dependency in libc6-sparc64, and not the gcc
packages.
