Sorry, I did not see the earlier entry. I went reverse in history and
saw that entry without a bug number, hence I assumed that you took the
fix directly from upstream without a Debian BTS entry.

Please handle this bug appropriately (I am not sure exactly what the
proper way is using the version tracking).

Thanks for maintaining fetchmail.

Greetings

gcj-4.0 requires the file /usr/lib/libgcj.spec from libgcj6-dev. Either
this file should be repackaged into libgcj6 or gcj-4.0 should depend on
libgcj6-dev. (I suggest the former.)

Without this file, gcj errors out when run:

None of these can be compiled using the default install, do you still
have the System.dll from 2.07 installed? Do the other Linux stubs
produce the same result? Any other clues? I'll investigate more
tomorrow.

Hi,

after upgrading from 1.999.21-1 to 1.999.23-1, apache2 fails to
  restart. The error is:

[Mon May 09 01:27:48 2005] [error] Can't locate Apache2.pm in @INC (@INC
contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.4 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.4

/usr/local/lib/site_perl . /etc/apache2) at (eval 2) line 3.\n
[Mon May 09 01:27:48 2005] [error] Can't load Perl module Apache2 for server
chistera.yi.org:0, exiting...

As a clean install (not upgrade) of 1.999.23-1 works, I traced the
problem down to /etc/apache2/mods-available/perl.conf: the new version
does not ship it, and only works when it's not present. As dpkg
doesn't remove conffiles itself when upgrading, .23 fails to work
because the perl.conf from .21 is left after the upgrade.

As the conffile is not present in .23, I assume that the intention is
to get rid of that file. If so, I suggest the attached shell snippet
as the new .23 preinst script (tested). It's a bit, uhm, ugly, so
perhaps providing an empty perl.conf file would be an alternative.

  HTH.

That doesn't seem appropriate; ecamegapedal only pulls in libxinerama as a
result of qt-x11-free, which is reported as bug #319305. However, with a
sensible (i.e., a Debian) version of libtool, there should be no reason why
libXinerama is needed at all; and ecamegapedal does build-depend on libtool,
so I *really* don't see why you would get such an error. That's a bug worth
investigating and fixing, but it's not a serious bug.

If you're going to report FTBFS bugs, btw, it would be helpful if you would
provide a little more detail, such as an error message and a pointer to a
build log, and information about your build environment (architecture,
suite, tools used)...

Package: libapache2-mod-perl2
Version: 2.0.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

The new libapache2-mod-perl2 (which I thank you for) does not contain a
perl.conf, yet it attempts to install one in rules:

-install -m644 $(CURDIR)/debian/perl.conf
debian/libapache2-mod-perl2/etc/apache2/mods-available

That is a minor issue (I believe), but what is really a problem is that
when upgrading, the old perl.conf is still present, and its contents are:

PerlModule Apache2

which breaks apache (per bug #308503) if that module is enabled.

Either a correct perl.conf should be installed, or the old one removed.

cheers,
Charles

Bug#317423: JuK Crash

2005-07-30 Thread Kevin

Hi,

Do you have JuK set to output to aRts? If so, try changing the MediaSystem
option in your ~/.kde/share/config/jukrc (it's in [Settings]) to 2 and
then start JuK. If it starts, try using outputting to aKode (or GStreamer)
instead.

I haven't looked into the problem any further, however, so I can't say
exactly what the issue between JuK and aRts is. Hope that helps in the
meantime, though.

Also, I'm currently using the KDE 3.4.1 packages from
http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/ on an otherwise Debian Unstable system.

Sorry, my fault... I forgot to reopen it.

Anyway, there will be no official update from the security team, so
I'm going to upload a fixed package to stable-proposed-updates (and
maybe oldstable-proposed-updates) which will make it into 3.1r1.

Regards, Norbert

2005-07-30 Thread Michael Fedrowitz
 Hi,

this isn't fixed in sid either, because debian/rules is fucked up and
only applies the patch after the build. I just noticed this by chance
because I suddenly got bitten by the old fetchsizelimit bug again (for
APOP) and started to investigate... And why is there an old random
unrelated bugfix merged into the security patch anyway?

An upload to oldstable-proposed-updates is not possible, so we have no
chance to update the woody package, if it's really affected.

thanks

Hi Matt,

I've prepared an NMU that sets -fno-inline-functions on m68k to work around
the compiler bug there (-finline-functions is being set in the upstream
configure script). In the process, I found a couple of other issues in
debian/rules, which I've addressed. Please find the patch attached.

I'll plan to upload this NMU in the morning if it builds successfully for me
here on i386.

Cheers,

Ok, so this is the bug that's been mentioned on debian-devel, where
-Wl,--as-needed doesn't work on sparc and alpha. Yes, this is a bug in
nautilus that needs to be fixed. Thanks for forwarding the build log.

Hi!

Georgi Guninski found another modeline vuln in vim:

  http://www.guninski.com/where_do_you_want_billg_to_go_today_5.html=20

I already asked for a CAN number, I'll forward it when I get one.

You can get the Ubuntu debdiff from

  http://patches.ubuntu.com/patches/vim.code-modelines.diff

for fixing sarge and possibly woody. For unstable, you should probably
just upgrade to the latest upstream version.

Thanks,

Martin

editex fails to build because it cannot find libmlgdome2-xslt:

The library is installed, so I think this is a library path problem.

Bug#318291: upload

If your sponsor is not responding, it is recommended that you find
another one to sponsor your package uploads. Try the debian-mentors
mailing list, or the #debian-mentors IRC channel, they have a more or
less defined process for requesting sponsors (RFS = Request For
Sponsor). If you have a fix to the security problem only, you could
probably get someone from the testing-security team to upload the
package for you, but that would be for that security fix only, you
will still need someone else to upload your package in the future.

Bug#320594: bugs.debian.org: search for open bugs in unstable lists closed ones as outstanding

2005-07-30 Thread Arthur Korn
Package: bugs.debian.org
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi

Have a look at:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?which=pkg&data=devtodo&archive=no&version=&dist=unstable
This is what the form at
http://www.debian.org/Bugs/
came up with when I selected

search for: Paket "devtodo"
Flags: active
Distribution: unstable

now compare that to:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=devtodo
which is perfectly ok AFAICS.

This is probably the reason for the PTS keeping to bitch about patches
and showing an inflated bug count:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/d/devtodo.html

Bug#320608: several security holes in vpopmail

2005-07-30 Thread Joey Hess
Package: vpopmail-bin
Severity: grave
Tags: security

vpopmail has a couple of security holes:

CAN-2004-2239 a buffer overflow in vsybase.c
Originally reported here:
http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/bugtraq/2004-08/0226.html
Confirmed by author as fixed in cvs here:
http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/bugtraq/2004-08/0286.html
Unknown whether this is really exploitable

CAN-2004-2238 format string overflow in vsybase.c
Probably not a real security hole, see
http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/bugtraq/2004-08/0264.html
But should be checked.

Finally, the reason this bug is grave, vpopmail's author says that
version 5.4.6 contains fixed for SQL injection vulnerabilities which
"made it possible for a remote attacker to insert additional SQL
commands into data passed into POP/IMAP login, SMTP AUTH, or a
QmailAdmin login."
http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/bugtraq/2004-08/0286.html

This last hole does not seem to have been assigned a CAN number.

Bug#298674: Bug seems to be fixed with gcc 4.0

2005-07-30 Thread Régis Boudin
Hi,

Apparently, the bug with the libccscript disappeared with the transition
to g++ 4.0, so it should be ok to close this bug when the gcc-4.0 build
package will be uploaded.

However, bayonne FTBFS with g++ 4.0. If you didn't already have them,
patches are attached :
- Fix 1 is for friend classes which must be declared.
- Fix 2 replaces calls to IXDR_*_LONG by IXDR_*_INT32. Calls to
IXDR_GET_INT32 and IXDR_GET_U_INT32 could be cast to long and u_long,
but I suppose it wouldn't change much (most values are not assigned to
'long' variables anyway).

gossip fails to build because it cannot find the XScreenSaver
extension:

> checking for XScreenSaverRegister in -lXss... no
> configure: error: Couldn't find XScreenSaver extension.

There are actually two problems: it doesn't build-depend on libxss-dev
which provides this extension and the test for the scrnsaver.h header
file has the success and failure cases switched. The attached patch
fixes both of these problems.

Package: openoffice.org
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

At install time, I hyave the following :

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  openoffice.org: Depends: openoffice.org-debian-files (> 1.1.3+1.1.4)

  Depends: openoffice.org-bin (> 1.1.3+1.1.4) but it is

Bug#320621: libdjvulibre1 3.5.14-6 changes soname without warning

2005-07-30 Thread sacrificial-spam-address
Package: libdjvulibre1
Version: 3.5.14-6
Severity: serious

Any number of packages that link to /usr/lib/libdjvulibre.so.14
(I hit evince 0.3.0-2 first) break horribly when libdjvulibre.so.15 is
installed ahead.

I'm not sure how this should be handled, but neither the changelog
nor the version number change (3.5.14-5 to 3.5.14-6) gave any warning
of such an important change.

Severity: serious

Hi,

The 1.36.59-3 version of libsidplay was uploaded for i386 with a libc6
dep on version 2.3.5-2, currently in experimental. libsidplay was
built on all other arches nicely. I suppose a binary NMU for i386 is
 enough to solve this issue.

  Bye,

Sorry about the delay. I've been working on getting sfs compile
with gcc4. All problems have been identified, and basically
things depend on glibc 2.3.5 getting into unstable and #320630.

Thank you for testing. I anticipated this.

At least there is a bug in the package. If there is an ABI-change in
libgnomecanvas, evolution should depend on the right version.

Holger

The bug is still present in testing for me.
Upgrade->crash
downgrade->working.
Here was the upgrade:
Inst libgnomecanvas2-0 [2.8.0-1] (2.10.2-2 Debian:testing) []
Inst libgnomecanvas2-common [2.8.0-1] (2.10.2-2 Debian:testing)

Strictly speaking, this is probably not a bug in evolution, but I don't
know where exactly the problem lies.

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-1
Severity: serious

After first doing "aptitude install xserver-common" and then "aptitude
install xserver-xorg" (just "aptitude dist-upgrade" wanted to remove
~300 packages, including GNOME :-) ), I got:

xserver-xorg config warning: migrating xserver-xfree86 templates to
xserver-xorg.
Can't call method "choices" on an undefined value at
   /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Question.pm line 85, line 118.

Received signal. Aborting xserver-xorg package config script.

Then, it installed some other packages, and tried again, giving
essentially the same error:

xserver-xorg config warning: migrating xserver-xfree86 templates to
xserver-xorg.
Can't call method "choices" on an undefined value at
   /usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Question.pm line 85, line 115.

Some manual debugging with DEBCONF_DEBUG=developer revealed:

[...]
debconf (developer): <-- SET xserver-xorg/autodetect_monitor true
debconf (developer): --> 0 value set
debconf (developer): <-- FSET xserver-xorg/autodetect_monitor seen true
debconf (developer): --> 0 true
debconf (developer): <-- METAGET xserver-xfree86/config/display/modes choices
Can't call method "choices" on an undefined value at
/usr/share/perl5/Debconf/Question.pm line 85, line 115.

Now, this does indeed exist in debconf:

  Name: xserver-xfree86/config/display/modes
  Template: xserver-xfree86/config/display/modes
  Value: 800x600, 640x480
  Owners: xserver-xfree86

However, there are no choices there, actually... and I can't find
anything in the templates, either. I guess the problem is:

baby:~/xorg> grep -c config/display/modes /var/cache/debconf/templates.dat
0

So, the template in question is kind of half-there, since it has a _value_
but not a template. Now, debconf shouldn't _die_ on this, and that is
probably a bug (I guess I'll kick Joey when I see him later today :-) ),
for in the meantime this breaks X.org installation in these cases...

Bug#267527: Better a2ps wrapper patch for lpr (tested)

2005-07-30 Thread Russ Allbery
package a2ps
severity 280370 grave
merge 267527 280370
thanks

I'm not completely sure that this bug should be grave, but I can see the
justification since right now a2ps can't print on any system that uses
lpr. Anyway, since one of these bugs was already marked grave, I'll
change the severity on the other bug so that they can be merged.

The patch attached to 267527 didn't work with the version of getopt that I
have. Note the output of getopt:

wanderer:~/tmp/a2ps-4.13b/debian> getopt -o d: -- -d foo testing
 -d 'foo' -- 'testing'

The parsing loop therefore has to look for and handle the -- and then stop
parsing options at that point; with the patch in 267527 applied,
a2ps-lpr-wrapper just always produced an error for me. Here is a fixed
patch:

If there is an ABI change in libgnomecanvas, libgnomecanvas *must* advertise
this in its package name so that it doesn't silently break other packages
that depend on it.

Wouldn't it be better to just use the version tracking instead?

packages have been changed to include "Depends: mysql-common-4.1 (>=
4.1.12-1)". This makes the packages uninstallable, since albeit
  mysql-common-4.1 Provides: mysql-common, versioned provides don't work
with the current version of dpkg.

  Cheers,

Bug#318518: libcrypto++: FTBFS: gcc 4 problem

2005-07-30 Thread Jens Peter Secher
Status report

I am almost done with solving all the problems for libcrypto++ with
respect to the GCC4 transition. My plan is as follows. I will upload
to experimental and/or test the build on other architectures than i386.
If everything works smoothly, I will upload to sid.

That doesn't make any sense; CPPFLAGS refers to flags for the C
preprocessor, and one can clearly see three lines above that -fPIC is
already being set in the PIC_CFLAGS variable where it belongs. The fix
belongs elsewhere, wherever PIC_CFLAGS is failing to be included.

The problem is the first line of that file:
#!/usr/bin/ocamlrun

And /usr/bin/ocamlrun does not exist. I guess you want to run
something like ../boot/ocamlrun ../ocamlopt or something.

aatv fails to build because it build-depends on aalib1-dev, which has

Bug#320647: libmusicbrainz-2.1: rebuild needed for C++ ABI transition (NMU patch attached)

2005-07-30 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: libmusicbrainz-2.1
Version: 2.1.1-3
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

Hi Andreas,

Under the 0-day NMU policy for the C++ ABI transition, I have prepared an
NMU for libmusicbrainz-2.1, because this library provides C++ interfaces and
must be rebuilt so that a number of other C++-based packages can transition
to g++ 4.0. The diff for this NMU is attached; the NMU will be uploaded
shortly. If you see any problems with the patch, let me know so I can have
the package rejected out of NEW.

Bug#320649: evince: evince uninstallable due to missing dependency

2005-07-30 Thread Chris Hanson
Package: evince
Severity: serious
Tags: sid

I'm currently unable to install evince because it depends on
libcairo1, which isn't available in the archive. I think it just
needs to be rebuilt against the newer version of libcairo.
