Hi,
a vulnerability in Wordpress' cookie handling has been reported that allows
arbitrary PHP command execution, if register_globals is enabled in the PHP
config. Please see http://www.securiteam.com/unixfocus/5BP0G00GLK.html

It should be fixed in 1.5.1.4, although I couldn't find this release on the
Wordpress website.

Cheers,
Moritz

Recently I upgrade and now for some reason one of my machine has stopped
creating the /var/spool/exim4/gnutls-params file after the
/etc/cron.daily/exim4-base removes it.

The file never is regenerated. So when a client connects expecting TLS
the client hangs waiting for exim4 to send it the TLS go ahead.

It just waits right there spinning away.

I have a second machine running the same version and it has no
problem generating the needed file on the fly. I'm stumped to why this
is happening and not really sure how I can even find out what the
problem is. Any help would be great.

On the machine NOT working I have theses installed
# dpkg -l |grep gnutls
ii gnutls-bin 1.0.16-13 GNU TLS library - commandline
utilities
ii libgnutls101.0.4-8GNU TLS library - runtime library

ii libgnutls5 0.8.8-2GNU TLS library - runtime library
ii libgnutls7 0.8.12-7 GNU TLS library - runtime library

On the working machine I have the same versions.

My only solution right now it to comment out the line in the cron.daily
script that removes the file in the first place but that isn't really a
long time fix.

TIA,
Yazz

I'm wondering if that is correct as I would say there still is a bad bug
in gcc-4.0 causing the kernel to break when compiled with optimization.

You may want to leave the bug open at reduced priority so that
optimization may be reenabled when the problem in gcc-4.0 is fixed.

For the same reason, maybe this bug should be cloned to gcc-4.0?

Bug#324271: ace: FTBFS: undefined reference to `std::basic_ofstreamchar, std::char_traitschar ::basic_ofstream(char const*, std::_Ios_Openmode)@@GLIBCXX_3.4'

2005-08-21 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: ace
Version: 5.4.7-3

Hi,

Your package is failing to build on a few arches with different
but simular error messages.

They happen with linking libACE.so.5.4.7

On amd64 I see:
/usr/bin/ld: .shobj/Logging_Strategy.o: relocation R_X86_64_PC32 against
`std::basic_ofstreamchar, std::char_traitschar ::basic_ofstream(char

object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/bin/ld: final link failed: Bad value

On powerpc:

Since .shobj/Logging_Strategy.o actually is compiled using
-fPIC, that probably isn't the problem. My first guess
was that it was missing a -DPIC, but that wasn't it
either.

It seems that this is caused by the
-fvisibility-inlines-hidden option, but only on that file.

I'm guessing this is a g++ error, and will file a bug
against g++ about this too.

Hi,

Your package is failing to build with the following error since
0.2.0-1:
checking for main in -lxerces-c... yes
/build/buildd/cegui-mk2-0.2.0/build-tree/cegui_mk2/configure: line 19272: synta

CHECK_MODULES(freetype2, freetype2 = 0.15.0)'

This looks like a missing build dependency on pkg-config,
and installing that seems to fix it.

PS: The other 2 open RC bugs actually seem to have been fixed,
please close them if they're fixed.

Kurt

I have successfully configured my jack daemon (without realtime capabilities).
I can use it

I use gstreamer-properties to select jack as audio output. If I select

So it seems I need a jack bin. I've tried to build a pipeline in gst-editor :

In a jackbin, I have a fdsrc to read an mp3, a mad0 sound decoder, and a
jacksink.
I connect the first two together, but the interface doesn't let me establish
the link between
mad::src and jacksink::alsa_pcm:out_1 (when I try this with an alsa sink the
two items connect).

And it seems there are some problems with the alsa output too. The only working
sound output seems to be
the OSS driver.

Justification: uninstallable in unstable (policy 5.3)

Hi!

A new release of jack-audio-connection-kit (0.100.0-2) has been uploaded
to Debian unstable. The old library libjack0.80.0-0 (and
libjack0.80.0-dev) have been removed and replaced with libjack0.100.0-0
and libjack0.100.0-dev since the API changed in some parts. For most
packages that means a simple rebuild.

Since libjack0.80.0 has been removed from unstable, this is a
release-critical issue.

A few notes about how to resolve this bug:

   1. Please Build-Depend only on libjack0.100.0-dev. Build-Depending
on libjack-dev as a virtual alternative allows the autobuilders to
build against the old libjack0.80.0 if they find it. (Versioned
   virtual dependencies probably don't work.)

   2. There are some packages (like for example xmms-jackasyn) which
accidently obtain a dependency on libjack0.80.0-0 but do not
Build-Depend on it. In my opinion this is incorrect. But if you want
to maintain that indirect dependency, you will have to coordinate
with the package's maintainer whose package you are build-depending
on (libjackasyn-dev in the case of xmms-jackasyn) and and only upload
your package (xmms-jackasyn; with a suitable _versioned_
build-dependency on the other package, libjackasy-dev) iff the other
package has already been uploaded (and built on as many architectures
as possible to lighten the pressure of failed builds). =20
  =20
   3. If this transition collides with the C++ transition for your
package (because it may be/contain a C++ library), then please follow
the timeline of the C++ transition instead of this one.

(Thanks to Adeodato Sim=C3=B3 for these hints).

A list of the packages for each maintainer and a list of the affected
source packages has been attached.

Robert.

 Also patch proposals:

 1) checkpw.c from http://frost.ath.cx/software/cyrus-sasl-patches/ to

This is bug #207523.

 2) Unable to compile without linking headers directories and files in

Bug#323747: Problems upgrading kdelibs-data to 4:3.4.2-1

2005-08-21 Thread jeff
Package: kdelibs-data
Version: 4:3.3.2-6.1
Followup-For: Bug #323747

Since I upgraded kdelibs-data from 4:3.3.2-7 to 4:3.4.2-1 I have the following
problems:

- kicker does not work
- kmenu is empty
- kcontrol index is empty
- some of my look and feel preferences have changed (sounds, icons,...)
- kde applications not present in panel
- keyboard mapping was changed from azerty to qwerty

I downgraded kdelibs-data to 4:3.3.2-6 (testing version): kicker, kmenu and
kcontrol seem to work (I do not test after a reboot) but the other problems
are still there.

Bug#323747: Problems upgrading kdelibs-data to 4:3.4.2-1

2005-08-21 Thread Pierre Habouzit
running unstable for KDE is discouraged atm.

 Since I upgraded kdelibs-data from 4:3.3.2-7 to 4:3.4.2-1 I have the
 following problems:

 - kicker does not work
 - kmenu is empty
 - kcontrol index is empty
 - some of my look and feel preferences have changed (sounds,
icons,...) - kde applications not present in panel
 - keyboard mapping was changed from azerty to qwerty

I downgraded kdelibs-data to 4:3.3.2-6 (testing version): kicker,
kmenu and kcontrol seem to work (I do not test after a reboot) but
the other problems are still there.

reboot should not change anything, though, restarting X should do the
trick.

Bug#317082: Not just a dpkg bug

2005-08-21 Thread Nikita V. Youshchenko
objdump isn't a solution either, while it sometimes can read the other
shared library, it doesn't provide the linker search patch which is of
critical importance to get this stuff right.

Hmm...
But what for is that search path?
As far as I understand, dpkg-shlibdeps should just get NEEDED sonames, and
match those against available shlibs files.

And that is what code actually does. Path information is used only if
something is not found in this way - that means, package that provides the
library does not provide shlibs data, which is a bug anyway.

So looks it is safe to remove any path processing from dpkg-slibdeps, and
use only objdump. If something breaks, it should be fixed elsewhere (i.e.
proper shlibs data added to packages).

But anyway, this is not enough: 32bit and 64bit versions of a library are
likely to have same sonames, so they can't be distinguished within the
current shlibs file format. Complete fix should probably add one more
field to shlibs files - the binary format.

So a possible way to fix this is:
- add binary format field to slibs file format [for backward-compatability,
the field should be optional and default to 'normal' binary format for the
architecture; packages providing such extended shlibs data should conflict
with dpkg-dev versions that don't support it]
- fix dpkg-shlibdeps: don't call ldd; use objdump both to extract NEEDED
and to get binary format; add extended shlibs format handling;
- fix any packages that happen to depend on [just removed] dpkg-shlibdeps
support of no shlibs information.

Bug#324339: gem: FTBFS: Linking shared lib against static non-PIC lib.

2005-08-21 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: gem
Version: 1:0.90.0-17
Severity: serious

Hi,

Your package is failing to build because you're linking a shared
library against a static non-PIC lib:
g++ -o Gem.pd_linux -shared ../Manips/*.o ../Particles/*.o ../Base/*.o
../MarkEx/*.o ../Pixes/*.o ../Controls/*.o ../Nongeos/*.o ../Geos/*.o
../openGL/*.o -ldc1394_control -lvorbis -lvorbisenc -lftgl -ldv -lmpeg3
-lquicktime -lavformat_pic -lavcodec_pic -ldts -lpng -ljpeg -ltiff -lGLU -lGL
-ldl -lz -lm -lfreetype -lz
/usr/bin/ld:
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.0.2/../../../../lib64/libftgl.a(FTFont.o):
relocation R_X86_64_32S against `vtable for FTFont' can not be used when making
a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.0.2/../../../../lib64/libftgl.a: could not read
symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [Gem.pd_linux] Error 1

ftgl does not provide a shared version of the library, but
it does provide a pic version of it. You can link against
the pic version using -lftgl_pic instead of -lftgl. (Just
as you already do for some others.)

Bug#324350: ts10: FTBFS: error: impossible constraint in 'asm'

2005-08-21 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: ts10
Version: 0.8.030519-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

Your package is failing to build on a few arches with the
following error:

On ARM, IA644 and mipsel:
gcc -Wall -g -O2 -c -DHAVE_SIGACTION -DDEBUG -I.. socket.c
socket.c: In function 'sock_Close':
socket.c:265: warning: implicit declaration of function 'free'
socket.c: In function 'SockPrintf':
socket.c:407: warning: unused variable 'sts'
socket.c: In function 'sock_Close':
socket.c:273: warning: control reaches end of non-void function
socket.c: In function 'sock_Open':
../emu/byteswap.h:19: error: impossible constraint in 'asm'
../emu/byteswap.h:25: error: impossible constraint in 'asm'

On amd64 we're seeing a simular error, and I guess it's the for
the simular/same reason:
socket.c:620: error: extended registers have no high halves

What fixed it on amd64 is to first create a temporary register
variable. (register uint16 y = x;)

Looking at bits/byteswap.h, I'm guessing the correct
constraint would be =r instead of =q in both cases.

I do not have access to the other arches to check this.

But I suggest using the version from byteswap.h and not
override it. Not using emu/byteswap.h fixes the problem for me
too.

Hi,

It seems the patch didn't actually fix the problem. It's still
failing with the same error message.

You didn't generate the new lex.c from the changed lex.l. Either
regenerate it, or manually change lex.c too.

Hi,

You added a build dependency on gcc ( 4:4.0.0). This does not
work.

What you need to do is add a build dependency on gcc-3.3 or
gcc-3.4, and then use that version to build you package.

Bug#324382: installs files into user's home directory while building

2005-08-21 Thread Simon Richter
Package: cogito
Version: 0.12.1+20050730-1
Severity: serious

Hello,

after building cogito, I found the following files under ~/soft/bin :

$ ls -l ~/soft/bin
[...]
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1727 2005-08-21 22:47 git-applymbox
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1645 2005-08-21 22:47 git-applypatch

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 29240 2005-08-21 22:47 git-mailsplit

I am fairly confident these were placed there by the cogito build (as in
It was the only thing I did on that machine the entire day), but as
I'm on a slow dialup now, I am somehow limited in my ability to debug.

Bug#324396: yagiuda: FTBFS: errno redefined.

2005-08-21 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: yagiuda
Version: 1.19-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

It seems your declares errno in several ways:
./src/globals.h:extern int errno;
./src/globals.h:int errno;
./src/get_number_of_elements.c:#include errno.h
./src/get_number_of_elements.c:extern int errno;
./src/test2.c:#include errno.h
./src/test2.c:extern int errno;
./src/gain.c:#include errno.h
./src/gain.c:extern int errno;
./src/fill_z_matrix.c:#include errno.h
./src/fill_z_matrix.c:extern int errno;
[...]

The only correct way of doing it is:
#include errno.h

And all the rest should get removed, and replaced by the include
where needed.

I noticed on IRC that you put a closes: #322723 in the changelog.

Good point, though it might be best just to reassign it to gcc-4.0.
I've seen this flag break stuff many time before - I actually
wonder if it ever works as intended.

Bug#318463: Proposed update to e2fsprogs for stable

2005-08-21 Thread Theodore Ts'o

I would like to upload the following release to sarge to fix a grave bug
(#318463), and taking the opportunity to fix a few other potential
core-dumping inducing bugs. All of these are cherry picked from the
e2fsprogs development tree.

Should I go ahead and upload the following to stable-proposed updates?

Thanks, regards,

- Ted

e2fsprogs (1.37-2sarge2) testing; urgency=low

  * Fix e2fsck segfault if a disconnected inode contains extended
attrbutes (Closes: #318463)
  * Fix compile_et and com_err library so it is compatible with MIT
Kerberos 1.4.x (otherwise it's core dump city)
  * Fix use-after-free bug in e2fsck
  * Fix type-alias bug which can cause a reproducible SEGV on at least
one ia64 configuration.

Bug#324445: Lingering Priority: important libopencdk4 package on AMD64 breaks installation

2005-08-21 Thread Miciah Dashiel Butler Masters
Package: libopencdk4
Version: 1:0.4.2-4
Severity: grave
Justification: Breaks installation

When I was trying to install SID with a recent installer nightly (which
I assume doesn't diminish the relevance of this particular report),
the installation would fail on account of this package. Because
the priority of the package is 'important', the installer tries
to install it automatically, but it depends on libgcrypt1, which is not
in unstable (or testing or stable).

I notice that packages.debian.org lists libopencdk4 as being
available only for amd64, and as this package is quite old,
I figure that it should simply be dropped.

In trying to find reports of this problem, I found bug 272586,
which was supposed to have been fixed by changing the priority
of this package, amongst others.

Much love,
