Bug#328808: very old package, should this be removed?
Marc 'HE' Brockschmidt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: > It's very old, seems to have no upstream development anymore, has > not many users and there are some alternatives. The package "zone-file-check" is obsolete, it has been superseded by the utility "named-checkzone" that is included in the "bind9" package. "zone-file-check" was originally written for bind4. Once again, the SONAME of the libraries has increased due to an API transition and you must rebuild your packages. Please briefly review the upstream API changelog at: http://flac.sourceforge.net/changelog.html to check if any of the API changes affect your FLAC-depending package. In most cases, a simple rebuild will be sufficient to transition. If you like, you can version the libflac-dev, libflac++-dev, liboggflac-dev, or liboggflac++-dev build-dependency to (>= 1.1.2-1) to ensure that your package is autobuilt against the new versions of the libraries. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the transition. As part of the C++ ABI transition, this library has moved to the libqt3-mt package. Simply recompiling and uploading your package should be enough to fix this; as per this mail [1], you need not bump your Qt, kdelibs or aRts build-dependencies. Beware, though, that that may not be the case for all the involved librares. Also, make sure that you build the package in an up to date and clean sid environment, so that final dependencies are correct. Please do this as soon as possible in order to accelerate the Qt/KDE transition to testing. [1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/09/msg0.html Perhaps you find that your package fails to compile with gcc4. If that's the case, there's probably a bug about it in the BTS, and it may include a patch. If not (or if you have doubts about the correctness of the patch), you may be able to find a fix in upstream's CVS, or in the Ubuntu distribution. If your package fails only in arm, m68k, and hppa, see instructions in the above mail. Finally, if there's a strong reason for which your package should not be NMUed, please note so in this bug report. Prospective NMUers will read your reasoning, and will decide if it's strong enough to delay their upload. Thanks for your cooperation, and happy hacking! P.S.: There may be an already reported bug against this package for this very same reason. I've checked for that, and will be merging the bugs soon. The reason for still filing this bug was to have the opportunity of including the small bits of information above. I apologize for the inconvenience. --- Received: (at 327940-close) by bugs.debian.org; 19 Sep 2005 04:18:18 + >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Sep 18 21:18:18 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from katie by spohr.debian.org with local (Exim 3.36 1 (Debian)) id 1EHD5U-0003Nb-00; Sun, 18 Sep 2005 21:17:04 -0700 From: Paul Brossier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.56 $ Subject: Bug#327940: fixed in noteedit 2.8.0-1 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Archive Administrator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 18 Sep 2005 21:17:04 -0700 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-CrossAssassin-Score: 7 Source: noteedit Source-Version: 2.8.0-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of noteedit, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: noteedit-data_2.8.0-1_all.deb to pool/main/n/noteedit/noteedit-data_2.8.0-1_all.deb noteedit_2.8.0-1.diff.gz to pool/main/n/noteedit/noteedit_2.8.0-1.diff.gz n

--- Received: (at 327231-close) by bugs.debian.org; 19 Sep 2005 02:19:08 + >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Sep 18 19:19:08 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from katie by spohr.debian.org with local (Exim 3.36 1 (Debian)) id 1EHBDQ-P5-00; Sun, 18 Sep 2005 19:17:08 -0700 From: James Troup <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.56 $ Subject: Bug#327231: fixed in filelight 0.99beta6-1 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Archive Administrator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 18 Sep 2005 19:17:08 -0700 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-CrossAssassin-Score: 4 Source: filelight Source-Version: 0.99beta6-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of filelight, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: filelight_0.99beta6-1.diff.gz to pool/main/f/filelight/filelight_0.99beta6-1.diff.gz filelight_0.99beta6-1.dsc to pool/main/f/filelight/filel

Bug#329043: /usr/include/bits/syscall.h incomplete
Package: libc6-dev Version: 2.3.5-6 Severity: serious /usr/include/bits/syscall.h on mips and mipsel only contains definitions for the ABI-specific syscalls. Bug#329041: valgrind: Valgrind is being compiled with SSE instruction set
Package: valgrind Version: 1:3.0.1-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Whoever is compiling Valgrind for i386 is compiling it with -msse making it incompatible on every machine without SSE support, basically anything before the P3/AXP. I originally reported this bug direct to valgrind team since it affected source package of 3.0.0 from their site too. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=110813 They fixed configure putting -msse in the makefile for 3.0.1, I can confirm that using their 3.0.1 source I no longer have issues running it. However, whoever compiled 3.0.1 package for Debian must have used a machine which supports SSE because I'm getting illegal instructions with Debian's version. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (300, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-1-k7 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages valgrind depends on: ii libc6 2.3.5-6GNU C Library: Shared libraries an Versions of packages valgrind recommends: ii gdb 6.3-6 The GNU Debugger -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#328990: wxwindows2.4: FTBFS on m68k due to -O3
Hi, Shouldn't this be a bug against the m68k toolchain? Unless something in wxPython changed that I am not aware of, it has always done this (and not been a problem) previously, no? I'm not wholly against patching this package in the name of pragmatism, especially if a release were otherwise immediately pending, but since it is not, shouldn't we aim this at the real problem first? Please feel free to reassign it if you agree that is the case. Otherwise, someone will need to convince me that this does not have an adverse affect on all the other platforms. (ergo convince me that _I_ should not reassign it ;-) cheers, Ron On Sun, Sep 18, 2005 at 05:20:01PM +0200, Adeodato Sim?? wrote: > Package: wxwindows2.4 > Version: 2.4.4.1.1 > Severity: serious > > Hello, > > wxwindows2.4 FTBFS on m68k, presumably due to the use of -O3 to > compile wxPython. Bug#308052: Fixed upstream in 0.9.14
This is fixed in 0.9.14 upstream, by renaming bsetroot to fbsetroot. From the changelog: *05/07/12: Renaming of 'bsetroot' to 'fbsetroot' (Mathias) blackbox's 'bsetroot' and fluxbox's 'bsetroot' have different syntax nowadays and collide when you install fluxbox and blackbox. hence the renaming updated manpage, helper utils (fbgm, startfluxbox, fbsetbg), nls etc -- I usually have a GPG digital signature included as an attachment. --- Received: (at 327975-close) by bugs.debian.org; 18 Sep 2005 20:54:10 + >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Sep 18 13:54:10 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from katie by spohr.debian.org with local (Exim 3.36 1 (Debian)) id 1EH64I-0007lj-00; Sun, 18 Sep 2005 13:47:22 -0700 From: Alejandro Exojo Piqueras <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.56 $ Subject: Bug#327975: fixed in kxmleditor 1.1.4-2 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Archive Administrator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 18 Sep 2005 13:47:22 -0700 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-CrossAssassin-Score: 2 Source: kxmleditor Source-Version: 1.1.4-2 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of kxmleditor, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: kxmleditor_1.1.4-2.diff.gz to pool/main/k/kxmleditor/kxmleditor_1.1.4-2.diff.gz kxmleditor_1.1.4-2.dsc to pool/main/k/kxmleditor/kxmledi

I have a bug in my new defconf script which hangs the install, and I haven't yet figured it out. But the plan is to remove powstatd-crypt and have it replaced by powstatd. -- Peter S. Package: wxwindows2.4 Version: 2.4.4.1.1 Severity: serious Hello, wxwindows2.4 FTBFS on m68k, presumably due to the use of -O3 to compile wxPython. Lowering the optimization level to -O2 should help. Bug#302553: xnap-snapshot: FTBFS: Missing Build-Depends on 'unzip'
Hello Frank! On Saturday 10 September 2005 17:10, you wrote: > On Sat, Apr 02, 2005 at 10:34:31AM +0200, Yven Johannes Leist wrote: > > thanks for your patch, I'll upload a fixed package soon. Basically XNap development came to a complete halt and this led (among other things) to the shameful neglection of the Debian package as well... The immediate reason for the non-happening of the upload including the proposed patch, was still another one though, namely that shortly before I wanted to actually upload the package, I realized that the last comment to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=302554 is of course right, which means that building xnap as a contrib package, seems not easily possible. Do you have any ideas about that? Or do you know how this is handled in general for packages in contrib? There will be an upload at some point, some I have figured out a defconf script bug. The powerstatd-crypt package will disappear but the regular powerstatd package will function with encryption (i.e. will have the functionality of powerstatd-crypt). The alternative (simpler for upgrades) would be to remove `powerstatd' and keep `powerstatd-crypt', but since the upstream package is named `powerstatd' it is better in the long-run to keep that name. -- Peter S. No. The build-depends on java-gcj-compat-dev was removed in this release intentionally because java-gcj-compat-dev depends on gjdoc an all archs and gjdoc is not yet available on all of them. So I tried to break this bootstrap circle with depending on java-gcj-compat and the indirect depending on gcj-4.0 but this somehow dont worked. I need to check this later on my powerpc which failed on the autobuilder too. i386 somehow works fine.
