Right, if you run with prctl --unaligned=signal you'll get a SIGBUS on
unaligned access; the autobuilder must be running under this somehow.
I guess it's useful to find bugs but can be a bit annoying.

Hm...I think the fixes for this are in bazaar 1.5 already; if I try to
backport them, would you be able to test build baz on itanium for me?

It seems caballero has a kernel option enabled that makes unalighed
accesses fatal. It is an Itanium 2, though.

Bug#332734: egoboo -fails to build

2005-11-01 Thread Wookey
I've investigasted this a bit on arm (which has exactly the same problem as
s390), and found that the reason for
> /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXxf86vm

is that it is not present. It is part of the libxxf86vm1 package

On i386 this package is brought in by xlibmesa-gl(-dev), but on arm (and
presumably s390) xlibmesa-gl does not depend on libxxf86vm1, so libxxf86vm1
is not installed.

I'm not sure why the dependencies are different on different architectures.

If the dependencies are really correct then egoboo needs to include a
specific dependency on libxxf86vm1.

If they are wrong then a bug needs filing against xlibmesa-gl. I will file
such a bug and reference this one and hopefully the strike force will get to
the bottom of this.

The font UNVRS.TTF included in this package contains the following
copyright notice:
"From the WSI-FONT Collection. Copyright (c) 1992 WSI. All Rights
Reserved. Redistribution strictly prohibited."

The attached patch modifies the code to use a different font (untested
as I didn't want to install apache and mysql, but it's completely
trivial). You should also upload a new source tarball that doesn't
contain the font.

Bug#335033: fixed in security upload but not in unstable ?!?

2005-11-01 Thread Nathanael Nerode
This is fixed in the security upload for sarge -- but not in unstable, which
has the same version as pre-security-upload sarge!

Perhaps the security upload could be uploaded to unstable in this situation?

This is already fixed in 2.2.1sarge1 -- but that's only in

Perhaps it could be added to unstable!

Bug#336829: usermode: fails to start (missing library)

It wasn't checking /usr/sbin/ for shared library dependencies, and it
just so happens that most of the hard work, requiring libuser, takes
place in /usr/sbin/userhelper. Oops.

There's a new package on the way that fixes the problem.

Bug#336975: very old package with RC bugs, should this be orphaned?

2005-11-01 Thread Frank Lichtenheld
Package: gnubg
Version: 0.12-4
Severity: serious

Hi.

During the Debian QA meeting hold during Sept. 09th till 11th, we begun to
go through the list of the oldest packages in Debian that are not in testing
(http://bjorn.haxx.se/debian/oldest.html) to search for packages that should
be either orphaned or removed completly from Debian (unstable and testing)
since they have been obviously neglected by their maintainer.

Your package did show up on this list and we propose to orphan it.

This usually means that your package matched some of the following criteria:

[1] Your packages has not had an upload for more than two years
[2] has one or more RC bugs with no answer from the maintainer (**)
[3] the state of your packages in general seems to indicate that
  you might be MIA
[4] (if we propose a removal) it shows in popcon as having less
than 100 users with the package installed.
[5] the package was not released with sarge

and at least ([1] and ( [2] or [3] or [4] or [5] )) was true.

(**) The maintainer not answering to RC bugs refers to bugs filed more
than one month before the time the check was performed.

Your package has not had an upload in over three years, a new upstream
version is available, and two RC bugs open without answer from you.

After 7 days without answer from you (the maintainer) we will reassign
this bug to either WNPP (in case we propose to orphan it) or ftp.debian.org
(in case we propose to remove it).

The package will need an upload or an explanation for this action not
to proceed.

Please do *not* upload a package just to get off this list - it won't
help the package at all. Maintainers should be responsive and feel
responsible for their packages without needing other people to force them
to do work. Sometimes, finding a new maintainer or even removing the
package completly from the archive is better for Debian's users.

Thanks!

Bug#336153: Filesystem curruption

2005-11-01 Thread Brian May
Hello,

On the surface I have encountered a problem that looks similar to this
bug:
* High file system load.
* init_special_inode: bogus i_mode messages.
* No obvious sign of hardware IO error or drive error
  (unfortunately drive doesn't support SMART)

However, some significant differences exist:
* reiserfs not ext3.
* not DM or RAID.
* USB drive.
* 2.6.10-5-386 with ubuntu.

I apologize if this bug is unrelated. I think it might be...

Running the reiserfsck program seems to indicate serious file system
curruption issues exist.

See attached file.

It surprises me that a journaled filesystem can get into such a big
mess. Hence I suspect the curruption might be happening at the block
device layer, and unrelated to filesystem.

I do not yet know if I can reproduce this on demand.

I am not running knfs or any other NFS server (contrary to log
messages).

Justification: Policy 7.2

libpisock-dev lists a dependency on libpisock++0 in Debian experimental
but the libpisock++ package isn't in Debian experimental and the libpisock++
directory doesn't exist in pilot-link source for 0.12.

AFAICT libpisock-dev (0.12-pre5) does not actually depend on libpisock++ at all.

I can't proceed with even an upload of my pilot-qof package into
experimental with libpisock-dev dependent on libpisock++0
as it halts a clean build.

When building 'rockdodger' on amd64 with gcc-4.0,
I get the following error:

With the attached patch 'rockdodger' can be compiled
on amd64 using gcc-4.0.

Current CVS, but libpisock++ was removed from CVS 4 months ago:
Mon Jun 6 15:03:46 2005 UTC (4 months, 3 weeks ago) by desrod
Removing libpisock++ from the tree. Nobody is using it and I've checked
the mailing lists going back to 1996 to confirm. If it is needed by anyone,
we can recreate it as a language binding in the future. Hopefully everyone
is using libpisock by now anyway. The GUI application authors have confirmed
that they are using libpisock as well, and not libpisock++.

That was prior to the release of pre4:
Wed, 06/15/2005 - 15:29

pilot-link-0.12.0-pre4.tar.gz contains no libpisock++ directory.

Looks like libpisock++0 and libpisock++0c2 could be dropped from Debian when
0.12 eventually replaces 0.11.8 in sarge.

Unfortunately, yes, I do. I need 0.12-pre1 or later

This exception indicates that the bootchart classes have been compiled
for JDK 1.4 while you are running an older VM. Indeed, it looks like
you're running j2re1.3.

I assume that's a different error. Could you post that as well?

I'll let Jörg comment on the actual packaging issue here. The package
should depend on 1.4 though.

You should not depend on experimental to build your package but use
unstable only. Unless you really need pilot-link from experimental?

Hello people,

Here's an update on the current state of affairs of the issues fixed in
2.0.18.

UNSTABLE
Packages for 2.0.18 for sid are nearly ready, we only need some code to
add a new database table. Jeroen is working on this, and will upload as
soon as this is fixed.

STABLE
I've gone through the list supplied by upstream, and my findings are as
follows.

> [Sec] backport of session keys system from olympus

Security feature, not bug, will not be backported.

> [Sec] fixed email bans to use the same pattern as email validation and

Security feature, not bug, will not be backported.

I fixed this in our SVN, and will be included in the updated sarge
package.

> [Sec] unset database password once it is no longer needed

Security feature, not bug, will not be backported.

> [Sec] fixed potential to select images outside the specified path as
  avatars or smilies

I fixed this in our SVN, and will be included in the updated sarge
package.

> [Sec] fix globals de-registration code for PHP5

Not relevant for sarge, won't fix.

> [Sec] changed avatar gallery code sections to prevent possible
> injection points (AnthraX101)

I have not yet been able to locate what exactly the problem is here and
what the fix is in the upstream patch. Help on this is welcome!

> [Sec] signature field is not properly sanitised for user input when an
> error occurs while accessing the avatar gallery

Same as previous, problem and fix not yet identified.

> [Sec] check to_username and ownership when editing a PM

This also needs some investigation into what exactly fixes this.

> [Sec] fixed ability to edit PM's you did not send (depablo84)

I fixed this in our SVN, and will be included in the updated sarge
package.

After some discussion we decided to include this fix in stable, I fixed
this in our SVN, and will be included in the updated sarge package.

thanks

The reason for the bug can be found in config.log.
The configure check for gettext fails with the following error:

configure:5552: x86_64-linux-gnu-g++ -o conftest -O2  -fexceptions -frtti -fsig$

With the attached patch 'efax-gtk' can be compiled on amd64 using gcc-4.0.

Bug#330895: blender: Arbitrary code execution when importing a .bvh file

oldstable (2.23-0.1) isn't affected as it shipped a version of blender
that didn't include this script yet (and was non-free anyway).

stable (2.36-1) is affected, I've attached a naive patch to remove all
'eval's in the script, which in fact basically is what upstream did.
Please see

for upstream details.

testing isn't affected anymore as blender has been removed from
testing due to general bugginess.

unstable (2.36-1 on alpha mips mipsel, 2.37a-1 on all other archs) is
partially affected: while 2.37a includes the upstream fix for this
problem this version hasn't been built on all archs due to bug#333958.

OK, I found the problem in upstream source code :

all you have to do is to replace each "return()" calls by "exit()" calls in
main function.

I attached a small patch to this email, changing the 2 calls I found in pxe.cc.

Hello! It appears that ghc6 still needs bootstrapping on sparc and m68k.
Other architectures are done, it appears.

Bug#323527: Doesn't FTBFS here...

2005-11-01 Thread Florian Ernst
Hello *,

blender_2.37a-1 builds fine in an unstable chroot using pbuilder.
Apparently it now uses an internal copy of openal, consequently not
showing a Depends on libopenal anymore.

Assuming 2.36-1 in stable still builds fine as well and taking into
account that 2.36-1 has been removed from testing due to general
bugginess I guess this bug can be closed...

However, not building against the openal package in Debian can be
considered a bug on its own.

Cheers,
Flo

This file is provided by both libglu1-mesa-dev and libglu1-xorg-dev,
so gtklookat should build-depend on the alternative of these packages.

Bug#336878: listarchives: messages not getting archived!

2005-11-01 Thread Nathanael Nerode
Package: listarchives
Severity: serious

The most egregious example is Steve Langasek's most recent message
to debian-devel-announce (titled
"Transition time: KDE, JACK, arts, sablotron, unixodbc,net-snmp, php, ...").

There's another message from him, in the thread on debian-devel between
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/11/msg4.html
and
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2005/11/msg9.html
which is missing. I don't know what else is missing.

This is really quite problematic; losing messages to d-d-a is a bad, bad
thing.

Ouch, that's pretty painful indeed. I had similar problems, it's one
of the reasons I stopped using ctrlproxy for now. I just talked to the
author, he says the code currently in SVN is not suitable for
packaging yet. The only thing you can do for now is disable the
linestack module, it's the main problem. But without that module,
ctrlproxy isn't really useful... :-(

Debian Hint #29: If your machine is not on all of the time (such as a
laptop), check out the 'anacron' package; this will make sure that regular
tasks still happen, even if the machine isn't on at the time they would
normally trigger.

Bug#336853: libpisock-dev: False dependency on libpisock++0 prevents upload of other packages

Package: libpisock-dev
Version: 0.11.8-0.12.0-pre4-1

libpisock-dev lists a dependency on libpisock++0 in Debian experimental
but the libpisock++ package isn't in Debian experimental and the libpisock++
directory doesn't exist in pilot-link source for 0.12.

AFAICT libpisock-dev (0.12-pre5) does not actually depend on libpisock++ at all.

I can't proceed with even an upload of my pilot-qof package into
experimental with libpisock-dev dependent on libpisock++0
as it halts a clean build.

This was assigned CAN-2005-3054, the patch was submitted upstream by me,
and it's been fixed in Sid. The fix is committed to the sarge branch in
SVN, but as we don't tend to consider open_basedir/safe_mode bypasses as
critical security bugs, I'm rolling up all the current bugfixes and will
be preparing an upload for all of them at once.

I dare lower this to "important", as I believe it does not violate
policy, and even if annoying the error is not fatal.

Indeed, yaird is too stupid in parsing this.

Erik, upstream maintainer, is listening here as well, and I hope he can
quickly extend the parser to handle this and "auto" which fails
similarly.

Until fixed, the obvious workaround is to change to only use one of the
options.

Alternatively you can try using initramfs-tools instead of yaird:
Install initramfs-tools, and either uninstall yaird or change priority
of ramdisk tools by adding the following to /etc/kernel-img.conf (in a
single line):

ramdisk
= /usr/sbin/mkinitrd /usr/sbin/mkinitramfs /usr/sbin/mkinitrd.yaird

Package: dovecot-imapd
Version: 1.0.alpha3-2.0.1

On a dist-upgrade this evening this package will not load my ssl certs
with the following error:

Oct 15 16:53:44 orion dovecot: imap-login: Can't load certificate file
/etc/ssl/dovecotcert.pem: error:25066067:DSO support
routines:DLFCN_LOAD:could not load the shared library

I went back to the dovecot-imapd and dovecot-common in testing and I can
login and get my certs seen with no problems.

Thanks!

Package: postfix
Version: 2.2.4-1.0.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Just upgraded my testing system and now postfix can't read certificate
files for doing SMTP auth with. Here are the relevant log lines:

postfix/smtpd[18162]: warning: cannot get certificate from file
/etc/courier/cert.pem
postfix/smtpd[18162]: warning: TLS library problem: 18162:error:25066067:DSO

support routines:DSO_load:could not load the shared library:dso_lib.c:244:
postfix/smtpd[18162]: cannot load RSA certificate and key data

It appears there is no libz.so file available:

$ dpkg -S libz.so
zlib1g: /usr/lib/libz.so.1
zlib1g: /usr/lib/libz.so.1.2.3

$ dpkg -l zlib1g | grep zlib1g
ii zlib1g 1.2.3-4compression library - runtime

A workaround is to make a symlink:

$ ln -s /usr/lib/libz.so.1 /usr/lib/libz.so

Package: dovecot-imapd
Version: 1.0.alpha3-2.0.1

On a dist-upgrade this evening this package will not load my ssl certs
with the following error:

Oct 15 16:53:44 orion dovecot: imap-login: Can't load certificate file
/etc/ssl/dovecotcert.pem: error:25066067:DSO support
routines:DLFCN_LOAD:could not load the shared library

I went back to the dovecot-imapd and dovecot-common in testing and I can
login and get my certs seen with no problems.

Thanks!

Bug#336788: acidbase: SQL injection vulnerability still present

2005-11-01 Thread David Gil
Package: acidbase
Severity: critical
Tags: security
Justification: root security hole

The ImportHTTPVar() function (defined in acid_state_common.inc and
include/base_state_common.inc) is defined as:

function ImportHTTPVar($var_name, $valid_data = "", $exception = "")

and calls CleanVariable($tmp, $valid_data, $exception), which should be used
to clean up of invalid characters. However, that one is defined as:

function CleanVariable($item, $valid_data, $exception = "")
{
   return $item;
(...)
}

So SQL injection (as well as XSS) are possible since:

- calls to extract information from the HTTP request does not use
  ImportHTTPVar() with $valid_data set.
- CleanVariable() does not check against $valid_data

Bug#334742: libgl1-mesa-dri-dev: Package maintainer address seems to be unreachable

2005-11-01 Thread Tino Keitel
Package: libgl1-mesa-dri-dev
Version: 6.3.2-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.3

Hi,

I filed bug #334742, with the result that I got a reply from the
pkg-mesa-devel alioth list that I'm not subscribed. Well, that's right,
since I just want to file a bug report, and I don't want to take part
on a developer mailing list.

The reply also said that my posting needs approval from the list
maintainer. However, there was no approval after 3 days. After nearly
2 weeks, I got no reply at all (appart from a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
that was not justified IMHO, maybe this bug just popped up on some kind
of RC bug monitor), so it seems to me that no responsible person is
reachable with the address in the maintainer field.

Regards,
Tino

2005-11-01 Thread Laurent CARON
Package: bluez-utils
Version: 2.19-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After having upgraded to new bluez-utils i'm unable to connect my phone
(Ericsson T630) anymore.

I can connect by deleting association and recreating *each time*.

Downgrading to the stable version solves this problem.

Thanks

Ok, i will, altough i would need to rebuild gcc, so it will not be before
tomorrow that i can test it.

The attached testcase triggers this bug on mips-linux when compiled
with "gcc -O2 -mabi=64 -c"

The appended patch reverts a single line of the diff between 4.0.2-2
and 4.0.2-3 and lets the testcase succeed. I don't know that part of
gcc enough to judge if it is a valid fix for the problem.

Sven, could you test if this fixes also the problem you see?

Bug#316241: /var/cache/bind permissions

2005-11-01 Thread Adrian von Bidder
Yo!

I can't really see how this can happen at all - bind9's postinst will
"always" ("$1" == "configure" and "$uid" == 0 which should always be the
case in the post-installation script - why is the latter check there at
all?) set /var/cache/bind to root:bind and g+rw.

Can you (Martin Strauss) reproduce this?

Bug#336762: adplay: FTBFS: error: binio.h: No such file or directory

2005-11-01 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Package: adplay
Version: 1.4-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

It seems that in version 1.4-1 of libbinio-dev you've moved the
include files from /usr/include to /usr/include/libbinio.

This is now resulting in the following error:
if g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.  -I/usr/include/SDL -D_REENTRANT -DADPLUG_DA
TA_DIR=\"/usr/share/adplug\"   -g -O2 -I/usr/include/SDL -D_REENTRANT -MT adpla
y.o -MD -MP -MF ".deps/adplay.Tpo" -c -o adplay.o adplay.cc; \
then mv -f ".deps/adplay.Tpo" ".deps/adplay.Po"; else rm -f
".deps/adplay.Tpo";
 exit 1; fi
In file included from /usr/include/adplug/player.h:27,
 from /usr/include/adplug/adplug.h:27,
 from adplay.cc:25:
/usr/include/adplug/fprovide.h:26:19: error: binio.h: No such file or directory

This might be a bug in adplug too?

PS: libadplug-dev really should have a dependency on libbinio-dev
if it requires it's headers. Either add a dependency or make
sure it's not needed.

Version: 0.5-1
Severity: serious

gnome-icon-theme relies on librsvg2-common (which contains the SVG
plugin for GTK+) for applications to read the SVG files, but doesn't
depend on it.

Currently, librsvg2-2 depends on librsvg2-common, which masks the issue,
but this will soon be changed.
