I was planning to wait for the next hamlib to do anything because the
package has been renamed again.

Upstream's library filename is libhamlib-1.2.4.so.2.0.3, in the case of
hamlib3. The API is compatible between versions but they keep changing
the library filename unnecessarily. That's recently been fixed.

Our hamlib4 contains libhamlib.so.2.0.4 (Joop pulled in the filename fix
early, to remove the -1.2.4), meaning no more mass rebuilds in the
future. However the package name still doesn't match the library
version (not such a big deal).

So, Joop is intending to change the name one last time to libhamlib2.
Details are at http://lists.debian.org/debian-hams/2006/03/msg00012.html
; looks like it hasn't been uploaded yet though.

So another round on binNMUs will be needed at that stage.

Thanks,

Hamish

Bug#344152: bug may be in perlmagick?

Hello,

On Sun, 26 Mar 2006, Kapil Hari Paranjape wrote:
> A "hack" which seems to point to a problem in perlmagick:

Additional evidence that the bug is in perlmagick/libmagick
is that the original "webmagick" program works fine
when used with Graphics::Magick in place of Image::Magick.
(Graphics::Magick is found in "libgraphics-magick-perl".
GraphicsMagick is a fork of ImageMagick which aims to be
more stable than the original.)

Package: mysql-admin
Version: 1.1.6-1

mysql-admin depends on libmysqlclient15, as I understand,
libmysqlclient15 is being replaced by libmysqlclient15off because of ABI
problems.

mysql-admin needs to be relinked against libmysqlclient15off

Excert from apt-cache show mysql-admin
Package: mysql-admin

Version: 1.1.6-1
Config-Version: 1.1.6-1
Depends: libatk1.0-0 (>= 1.9.0), libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1), libcairo2 (>=

Recommends: mysql-query-browser

When you attempt to install mysql-admin on a sytem with mysql-client-5.0
you get the following:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mysql-admin: Depends: libmysqlclient15 but it is not going to be installed

libmysqlclient15off Conflicts with libmysqlclient15

The solution, is simple. Rebuild mysql-admin against the libmysql15off
packages. I have done this, tested it, and it works.

Bug#358718: linux-image-2.6.16-1-k7 unexpected IRQ trap, divide error on boot, panic before even initrd

2006-03-25 Thread Anthony DeRobertis

Jurij Smakov wrote:

Hi,

No. It's a mid-tower.
The first impression is that it is some kind of ACPI problem. Could
you please try some combinations of boot options

acpi=off
pci=norouteirq
pci=noacpi

I'll give these a try ASAP.

nolapic
The boot messages with 2.6.16 says that the BIOS disabled the local
APIC, and that its not re-enabling it. 2.6.8 definitely re-enables it,
however, booting 2.6.16 with the lapic (or whatever it was) option had
2.6.16 re-enable it, but still crashes.

to see if that has any effect on your problems? What was the previous
kernel which worked properly on this machine?
Well, except for the ide-tape drive (there is a separate bug on that),
2.6.15.

PS: The BTS set a reply-to of -quiet, which I think will make this
response not go to the Debian kernel mailing list. Sending to non-quiet
instead.

Bug#344152: bug may be in perlmagick?

2006-03-25 Thread Kapil Hari Paranjape
Hello,

A "hack" which seems to point to a problem in perlmagick:

Apply the enclosed "patch" to webmagick which duplicates the
two "Write" calls that write out the montage.

The program then appears to work properly.

Regards,

Kapil.

Hello Steve,

You don't happen to have attempted to install them from the archive,
have you? :)

Both packages depend on a +b1 versioned -common package, neither of
which seems to have been uploaded.

Hopefully I reopened the bugs properly.

after I install of linux-image 2.6.15-1-k7-smp (or 2.6.15-1-k7 or even

All is fine in this fresh install otherwise on debian sarge kernel
2.6.8-2.

My system is a fresh install on this system

I just did a fresh sarge install, desktop packages selected.
 I upgrade to
 sid.
 (apt-get update ;apt-get dist-upgrade)
with 2.6.8-2 kernel system works fine. (i dont bother to configure
  Xorg at
this point, i use console and disable gdm so i can use system )
I then try to apt-get install linux-image-2.6.15-1-k7-smp (same
  problem with
install of -k7 or -1-486 2.6.15 kernels too).
The new kernel is installed, and then when i reboot - no response to
  keyboard or mouse.

  what is going on?

Thank you for your interest!

I solved the problem by consulting the linux kernel traffic list where this
was well documented as a problem with latest kernels on some motherboards.

it seems to be a bug in handling of Non-usb keyboard by a usb type method on
my motherboard (gigabyte amd mp dual 2400+ processor server board).

This can be handled by a change in bios settings.

In short - as soon as i configured by bios to __not___ support USB keyboards,
the 2.6.15 kernel works.

gpredict (and other hamlib-using packages) has been queued for binNMUs on
all architectures. Fixed packages should be available in unstable soon,
with no further action required from the maintainer to resolve this bug.

Maybe ooo should conflict with old versions of openoffice.org-gnome or

Bug#349985: Please acknowledge NMU of libphp-adodb 4.72-0.1 fixing these problems

2006-03-25 Thread Micah Anderson
Package: libphp-adodb
Version: 4.64-4
Followup-For: Bug #349985

Hello,

Please find attached a patch which details the changes to your package
that are included in the NMU uploaded to the DELAYED-3 day queue. This
patch shows the package changes, since your package includes a tarball
I have excluded that from the diff, but be advised that this NMU
contains an upgrade to a newer release, so the tarball contained within
this NMU package is of that release.

Micah

Bug#345100: patch for segfault

2006-03-25 Thread Robert Collins
tags: patch
thanks

I applied this bugfix in Ubuntu. Other than the debian changelog and
version number this should apply cleanly and correct the problem.

It does not appear to be xines fault per se that a segfault was occuring
- rather its this xpm problem which sets up a triggerable condition that
for some people triggers immediately, for others only triggers with
xine. I haven't tracked down the why of that :[. Theres some very old
code in there from gthumb, it might be worth someone doing a bulk update
of those support widgets.

Oops, looks like I submitted the bug on my locally created package
instead of the proper one. The current version in testing and unstable
(4.64-4) does suffer from this bug as well as the version in stable
(4.52-1).

Sorry.

That's odd -- your $CURDIR is getting set incorrectly (it has the basename of
the directory, but not the rest of the path). What make are you using, and
how are you invoking the build?

If you get that fixed you also want to fix your debian/copyright file,
you miss that multiple files have LGPL, not only GPL. You need to list
all (C) holders and licenses...
Also you should read the thread behind

imporve your copyright file even more.

No, in this case, the header file had to be fixed to include AL/al.h
instead.

This bug has been fixed in svn now.

This has already been corrected in quilt 0.44-3.

So it probably makes sense to downgrade this bug instead of closing it.

Hi,

something changed in quilt that changed the return value if no patch
series is found. This breaks your "quilt push -a || test $$? = 2"
command in debian/rules.

Since libvorbis has no patches at all the simplest solution seems to
be to remove quilt completly. There is little point in build-depending
on quilt and have it do nothing. Policy says Build-Depends should be
minimal and this is not.

Goswin

I think this might just need a bin-MNU? Sorry if the severity is

Bug#294520: libparted1.6-13: Incorrect handling of extended partitions

2006-03-25 Thread Anton Zinoviev
I was able to reproduce this bug on my flash device and the result was
the same as the submitter reported. In order to reproduce the bug it
seams enough to use parted in the following way:

1. Create an extended partition that ocupies the whole disk.
2. Create a logical partition at the beginning of the ext. partition
3. Create a logical partition at the end of the extended partition
4. Create a logical partition at the remaining space

Create the partitions with different sizes so you can distinguish them
in qtparted. The result should be like this:

(parted) p
Disk geometry for /dev/sda: 0kB - 260MB
Disk label type: msdos
Number Start End SizeType File system Flags
1 16kB260MB 260MB extended
5 32kB49MB49MBlogical
7 49MB200MB 151MB logical
6 200MB 260MB 60MBlogical

(Notice that partition #7 is before #6.)

Now start qtparted. In order to be safe you can start it as non-root
provided your user has write access to /dev/sda. The result is that
partition #7 is listed as #6 and #6 is listed as #7.

Since both parted and partman seam not to be affected by this bug I
would recommend to reassign it back to qtparted.

Notice that if you decide not to create the partition at the beginning
of the extended partition and use a partition table like that:

(parted) p
Disk geometry for /dev/sda: 0kB - 260MB
Disk label type: msdos
Number Start End SizeType File system Flags
1 16kB260MB 260MB extended
6 17kB208MB 208MB logical
5 208MB 260MB 52MBlogical

then qtparted will be unable to work with this partition table at all.

Anton Zinoviev

Package: grep-dctrl
Version: 2.8
Severity: serious
Tags: experimental
Justification: Violates Policy 12.5 and 12.7

grep-dctrl has an empty /usr/share/doc/grep-dctrl directory, despite the
fact that policy says that this directory must contain copyright and
changelog files. The NEWS.Debian.gz file should also be here so that it is
shown by apt-listchanges on upgrade. You can achieve this either by
installing these files to this directory, or, since grep-dctrl Depends on
dctrl-tools and comes from the same source package, by making
/usr/share/doc/grep-dctrl a symlink to /usr/share/doc/dctrl-tools.

Hm, not the news I actually want to hear but this did the trick.

Now for the sarge users and for the records: You need to backport both
the fuse and the makedev package, they should build in a sarge
environment. It is _not_ required to backport sshfs-fuse which is good
news as the build depencies for it are not met in sarge.

Other pitfalls (already mentioned here):
- fusermount must be user-executable: 'chmod o+x /usr/bin/fusermount'.
Else you'll see "fuse: failed to exec fusermount: Permission denied"
- /dev/fuse must have permission 666. Otherwise fusermount complains
"fusermount: failed to open /dev/fuse: Permission denied"

#355827 may now be closed in my opinion.

Christoph

Ok, and just to be sure, what is the output of uname -r on this system?

I haven't tested this myself with 2.6.16; but if uname -r returns what's
expected, then I'd agree it's a m-a bug -- otherwise it's probably not a bug
at all.

Cheers,
