Your bug report gives no information about your build environment or the
error you get when trying to build zaptel-source. Please explain what it is
you're trying to do, so that the maintainer can help you with this bug (as
well as determining whether it applies to the version of the package in
etch).

A. when reporting build errors, please include those errors.

B. fxotune is not included in zaptel-source 1.0.7 . It is part of Zaptel
1.2.x . It uses an ioctl of the new wctdm driver which was not included
in Zaptel 1.0.x (the driver for the TDM400P cards in Zaptel 1.0 is the
older wcfxs).

C. If you really want fxotune, get the package zaptel from Unstable and
build it yourself. Zaptel 1.2.5 is still compatible with Asterisk 1.0 .
(Alternatively use backports.org or our repository (Rapid))

Hi!

My cpufreqd init script hangs indefinitely when stopping. I have to press
the enter key to make it continue, also that doesn't stop the daemon.

I consider this serious as remote reboot is not possible anymore.
And the shutdown process has to be attended.

Best wishes

It looks like there is no libmysqclient-dev that Snort-mysql could use. It

are still some directories under /usr/X11R6: /usr/X11R6/include,
 /usr/X11R6/lib and /usr/X11R6/man

But the upgrade didn't finish. Some packages seem to be broken or
maybe I should manually do something? Or maybe I need to wait for some
new uploads to etch to be able to fix it?

In the future, it would be helpful if you would make sure your mail client
doesn't wrap console transcripts when sending; the following was quite
painful to read through...

 zv5260:~# aptitude install x11-common

subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
 Errors were encountered while processing:
  /var/cache/apt/archives/x11-common_1%3a7.0.20_amd64.deb

The necessary fix here is an expanded conflict of x11-common with this
version of xbase-clients. I've committed a fix for this to svn, so this
problem should go away with the next version of xorg.

But because this is an upgrade issue affecting only upgrades within testing
(and only on one arch for that matter), it is not release-critical;
downgraded accordingly.

 # dpkg --force-overwrite -i
 /var/cache/apt/archives/x11-common_1%3a7.0.20_amd64.deb

After that the upgrade proceeded fine...

Uh, please check the output of ls -ld /usr/X11R6/bin. This should now be a
symlink to /usr/bin, but by overriding the conflict it may have been left as
a directory (or even removed from the system).

Thanks,

Heya,

sgcontrol depends on hamlib4 (= 1.2.5). hamlib4 doesn't exist anymore,
but is provided as virtual package by libhamlib2. As dpkg doesn't
support versioned provides, sgcontrol is uninstallable at the moment.

Please fix this uploading a new release with correct dependencies.

Thanks,
Marc

Bug#361024: bug not fixed - apt-proxy still fails

2006-06-04 Thread Toni Mueller

Hello,

despite having the latest of libstdc++6, the problem is still not
solved for me:

# apt-get update
...
Reading package lists... Done
# /usr/bin/apt-get -f install libstdc++6
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
libstdc++6 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 621 not upgraded.
# /etc/init.d/apt-proxy start
Starting apt-proxy
Failed to load application: libstdc++.so.6: cannot handle TLS data
.

Adding /lib/tls to /etc/ld.so.config and re-running ldconfig didn't
help a bit.

What gives?

Best,
--Toni++

This bug seems to have been fixed with a pair of NMUs -- one on doxygen, the
other on llvm. Since I think the llvm NMU was unnecessary (it just adds a
versioned build-dependency on doxygen, which shouldn't be required as a
workaround for doxygen bugs), I believe this bug should be closed.

Thanks,

Bug#370245: Export control problems in license

2006-06-04 Thread Walter Landry
Package: sun-java5-jre
Version: 1.5.0-06-1
Severity: serious

In the copyright file there is the phrase

Export or reexport to countries subject to U.S. embargo or to
entities identified on U.S. export exclusion lists, including, but
not limited to, the denied persons and specially designated
  nationals lists is strictly prohibited.

This is also repeated in French. The mirrors in the US may or may not
implement this kind of restriction, but I do not think that the Debian
mirrors in Canada (for example) restrict downloads from Cuba.

Note that this is different from the clause in the DLJ, which could
just be interpreted as a notice about US law.

This problem was brought up with Sun [1], but they did not respond.

Cheers,
Walter Landry

Bug#369863: Accepted gdesklets 0.35.3-2 (source i386)

2006-06-04 Thread Josselin Mouette
reopen 369863

  gdesklets (0.35.3-2) unstable; urgency=low
  .
* Remove gconf stuff (Closes:#369863)

Sorry, I haven't been clear enough in the bug report. I see you have
added a rule to remove the schema in /etc/gconf/schemas but this is not
the problem - dh_gconf already adds it the postrm.

The schema is not only still present in /etc/gconf/schemas, it is still
*installed* in /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults. This is because the former
version used gconftool --makefile-install-rule to install the schemas in
the postinst but not gconftool --makefile-uninstall-rule to uninstall
them.

The correct solution is something like this in the postinst:

if [ $1 = configure ] dpkg --compare-versions $2 le 0.35.3-2; then
GCONF_CONFIG_SOURCE=`gconftool-2 --get-default-source`
TMP_HOME=`mktemp -d /tmp/gconf.XX`
HOME=$TMP_HOME gconftool-2 --direct \
   --config-source=${GCONF_CONFIG_SOURCE} \
   --makefile-uninstall-rule \
   /usr/share/gconf/schemas/gdesklets.schemas
rm -rf $TMP_HOME
fi

This will uninstall the schemas from /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults. If
some keys were removed, they will be not be cleaned up and this requires
a gconftool-2 --unset or --recursive-unset. However this is a less
important problem, as all keys which are relevant to the new version
will be uninstalled from /etc.

Package: gdesklets
Version: 0.35.3-1
Severity: serious

The gdesklets package still calls gconftool by hand to register schema
files, and still keeps the schemas in /etc/gconf/schemas. This is a FHS
violation which is fixed by using dh_gconf. As the package uses cdbs
this is probably only a matter of rebuilding it without the gconftool
call in the postinst.

Furthermore, these schemas are not uninstalled in the prerm script. This
means the cruft is left /etc. A rule has to be added to uninstall them
nevertheless in the new version.

The bottom line is that the functionality does exist, there is a way to
use it, and you choose not to do so. I don't think it is reasonable to
expect that unix froze 15 years ago and can never change. If you make a
decision that something has to work on a bunch of obsolete platforms,
you're going to have to go through gyrations to make it happen. If your

that's your choice--but don't expect it to constrain the rest of the

gnutls12 builds libgnutls-dev and gnutls-bin, which are now also
provided by gnutls13. gnutls12 got scheduled a number of binNMUs for
the libtasn1-3 transition. This doesn't work now anymore, because of
gnutls13 providing a newer version.

gnutls12 will need a sourceful upload -- or removal once the gnutls13
transition is completed, of course.

Bug#370253: libflac-dev: cannot install on testing or unstable

2006-06-04 Thread Olivier Ricordeau
Package: libflac-dev
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

I cannot manage to install libflac-dev. I've tried both with apt set to testing
and unstable. He is what I get:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] olivier apt-get install libflac-devdimanche
13:11:56
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libflac-dev: Depends: libflac7 (= 1.1.2-3.1) but 1.1.2+cvs20051109.05-0.0 is
to be installed
E: Broken packages

If you need further information, just ask me.

Bug#370257: sylpheed-claws-gtk2 does not obey $HOME

2006-06-04 Thread Juha Jäykkä
Package: sylpheed-claws-gtk2
Version: 2.2.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 10.7.5 and possibly 9.1.1

Under certain circumstances, sylpheed-claws-gtk2 stores its dotfiles outside
of $HOME.
The Debian Policy demands that dotfiles are created in the user's home
directory.

It seems sylpheed-claws uses getpwent or similar to figure out where the user's
home
directory is. While this is certainly correct if there is no $HOME defined, it
must be
considered incorrect when $HOME is defined. Failure to use the directory
specified by
$HOME makes it impossible to e.g. temporarily run sylpheed-claws-gtk2 with
alternate
configuration (except by doing some mv's before and after). It is also
potentially
destructive since users generally expect their $HOME to be safe from
modifications by
programs which are run in an environment with a different $HOME.

The bottom line is that the functionality does exist, there is a way

constrain the rest of the world. The reason you're in that situation
is that sun decided more than decade ago that a transition was too

Bug#370264: nvidia-kernel-2.6-k7: This version doesn't suit the needs of nvidia-glx

2006-06-04 Thread Marcello Maggioni
Package: nvidia-kernel-2.6-k7
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The version of this package is 1.0-8756+1 , but the nvidia-glx package requires
nvidia-kernel-1.0.8762 .

This makes the nvidia driver uninstallable (you have to recompile the
nvidia-kernel package, but this isn't a very confortable solution if you use a
precompiled kernel) ,
the package should be updated.

Bye

Hi Samhain support!

This is the Debian maintainer of Samhain speaking. I wanted to notify you of
a bug recently submitted to the Debian Bug Tracking System: #369503
[1] it seems that samhain cannot be built with the latest autoconf version,
when running autoheader it will not be able to work and spits out this error:

configure.ac:44: error: m4_defn: undefined macro: _AC_LANG
autoconf/lang.m4:157: AC_LANG_POP is expanded from...
autoconf/c.m4:556: AC_PROG_CC is expanded from...

autoheader: '/usr/bin/autom4te' failed with exit status: 1

The autoconf Debian maintainers have mentioned as an answer to my bug #370123
[2] that this is a problem with samhain's configure.ac using undocumented
internal Autoconf features and that it should be fixed. I'm no autoconf
expert and, consequently, have no clue as to how fix this for Debian so that
samhain can build properly both in my system (with the latest autoconf
version) and the build daemons that automatically build the Debian package
for other (non-i386) architectures.

Could you please look into this issue? I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Javier Fernandez-Sanguino

Bug#370276: libapache2-mod-python2.4: Does not install due to minor bug in postinst script

2006-06-04 Thread Kjetil Wiekhorst Jørgensen
Package: libapache2-mod-python2.4
Version: 3.2.8-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

On line 20 in the postinst script the PYTHON variable is set to
python2.3 and not python2.4 which makes this package uninstallable.
If this typo is fixed the package will be installable again.

Bug#370284: guitar: Conflicts with x11-common about /usr/X11R6/bin

2006-06-04 Thread Guillaume Vauvert
Package: guitar
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The upgrade of package x11-common to version 7.0.20 requires to remove
/usr/X11R6/bin (a new path has been chosen), but tha package guitar claims
that it is his path, so x11-common cannot be upgraded.

I success to remove guitar by modifying the file /var/lib/dpkg/info/guitar.list
: I modify the line /usr/X11R5/bin to /usr/X11R5/bin_whatyouwant.

Then, the package guitar accepts to be removed, and the package x11-common
can be upgraded without complain.

Hi,

you have to add libxaw-headers to the build dependensies of xfrisk.

Have you tried building it with prctl --unaligned=signal? This is not
the default on hppa, but it's used on the autobuilders because it
  catches potentially costly programming errors.

is this documented somewhere, so that you even have a chance to
configure a machine like a buildd?

we can disable rebuilding the jar file using the interpreter as a
workaround. I'll look at it Monday evening when I'm back.

FWIW, gij-4.1 also produces unaligned traps when building db4.4
 4.4.20-4 on Alpha.

so did gij-4.0?

Bug#349807: Diff of towitoko 2.0.7-7.1 NMU

2006-06-04 Thread Julien BLACHE
Hi,

I just uploaded an NMU of towitoko (2.0.7-7.1) fixing those 4 bugs.

The attached patch contains the changes between version 2.0.7-7 and
the NMU, except the changes made to the autotools-generated files
which can be reproduced using the procedure outlined in the debian
changelog.

Please tell upstream to run the same procedure to update their libtool
and autotools files for their next release.

Thanks,

JB.

Bug#370296: DLJ only allows distributing the exact same file

2006-06-04 Thread Walter Landry
Package: sun-java5-jre
Version: 1.5.0-06-1
Severity: serious

In the DLJ, there is the clause

Sun also grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable,
royalty-free limited license to reproduce and distribute the
Software, directly or indirectly through your licensees,
distributors, resellers, or OEMs, electronically or in physical
form or pre-installed with your Operating System on a general
purpose desktop computer or server, provided that: (a) the
Software and any proprietary legends or notices are complete and
unmodified; ...

According to the copyright file, Debian gets the package from

  http://download.java.net/dlj/binaries/

That location only has a single binary package. However, Debian
splits that into multiple packages (sun-java5-bin, sun-java5-jdk,
sun-java5-jre, etc.). So Debian is not distributing the code complete
and unmodified.

This problem was brought up with Sun [1]. They explained why it is
nice to split up the package, but failed to explain why Debian is
allowed to do the split. Jeroen also commented about it [2], and
makes the argument that the changes necessary for package management
are acceptable. But this does not explain why Debian can split the
package, thus only distributing part of what Debian gets from Sun.

Cheers,
Walter Landry

Bug#370295: DLJ prevents running jython with sun-java

2006-06-04 Thread Walter Landry
Package: sun-java5-jre
Version: 1.5.0-06-1
Severity: serious

In the Distributor License for Java, there is the clause

(c) you do not combine, configure or distribute the Software to
run in conjunction with any additional software that implements
the same or similar functionality or APIs as the Software;

Debian distributes Jython, which can run with sun-java. However,
Jython, being a reimplementation of Python, implements a great deal of
similar functionality as sun-java.

This can be fixed by making Jython conflict with sun-java, although I
suspect that there may be other packages that also cause problems.

Cheers,
Walter Landry

Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

I cannot manage to install libflac-dev. I've tried both with apt set to testing
and unstable. He is what I get:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libflac-dev: Depends: libflac7 (= 1.1.2-3.1) but 1.1.2+cvs20051109.05-0.0 is

If you need further information, just ask me.

Bug#369995:

2006-06-04 Thread Angel Vidal (Kry)
Julien, if you don't want/have the time to package aMule properly,
just step down so someone can take over the task. I'm sorry to be so
rude about it, but you saying I don't want you teach me anithing. was
way beyond rude in an offer for help and mentoring.

I have no experience with debian packaging, but if it has to be that I
become a package mantainer here I'll do my best to learn (I have been
using debian for 8 years anyway, it's about time to learn something
about packaging).

Is not like we do much releases of aMule, but I plan to make several
over the last months and it would be good to have an active mantainer
that actually cares about the packages and its quality.

So yeah, I'm offering to take over the mantainer position and accept
the mentoring help.

So yeah, I'm offering to take over the mantainer position and accept
 the mentoring help.

If you're willing to learn about Debian packaging, and spend a bit of
time on it, my offer stands. If you're just worried about amule's status
in Debian but will prefer for somebody else to take care, I can be that
one. In either case, upstream being subscribed to the PTS and reading
Debian BTS traffic is pretty cool, and helpful by itself regardless of
them being involved in packaging or not.

In other words, I'll soon make an amule upload myself to fix the serious
open packaging bugs, and will be happy with whatever later decision you
make about yourself stepping in or not, as explained above.

Cheers,

Bug#370308: bogus gcc error check breaks perl headers

2006-06-04 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Source: gcc-4.1
Version: 4.1.1-1
Severity: grave

After 4.1.1 was released, an error check was fixed in SVN that, as a
side effect, rejects valid code. This breaks lots of packages since
the error is in a Perl header. Please revert the patch from
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=26068 until there is a
proper fix. I've reported this problem to
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=27884

Bug#370311: runs paperconf in preconfig when it's not available yet

2006-06-04 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Package: libpaper1
Version: 1.1.18
Severity: grave

You run paperconf before it's available, which apprently means that no
/etc/papersize file gets created, so paperconf later fails.

Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

Hi,

libgda2 build-depends on the old libmysqlclient14-dev. The current
package is now called libmysqlclient15-dev.

This will keep gnome (the package) uninstallable on amd64. Please port
this package to the new mysqlclient library soon.
