Please do not open new bug reports just to indicate that a bug can be found in
another version than the one(s) it was reported against. If you want to do
that, please use the BTS version tracking features and mark the bug as found
in the other version.
In any case, you should indicate against which version a bug applies in your
reports.

Package: xfig
Version: 1:3.2.5-alpha5-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When I start xfig it complains like this:

Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion
Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-times-medium-r-normal--16-*-*-*-*-*-*-*,-*-*-medium-r-normal--16-*-*-*-*-*-*-*,*--16-*"

Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion
Warning: Cannot convert string
"-*-times-bold-r-normal--16-*-*-*-*-*-*-*,-*-*-bold-r-normal--16-*-*-*-*-*-*-*,-*-*-*-r-*--16-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"
 to type FontSet

then during editing if I select a font (all the fonts I tried), xfig complains
when I click somewhere to start entering text:

Can't find -*-times-medium-r-normal--13-*-*-*-*-*-ISO8859-*, using 6x13

or if I select say helvetica:

Can't find -*-times-medium-r-normal--13-*-*-*-*-*-ISO8859-*, using 6x13
Can't find -*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--13-*-*-*-*-*-ISO8859-*, using 6x13

Can't find -*-courier-medium-r-normal--13-*-*-*-*-*-ISO8859-*, using 6x13

So I can't do much with xfig.

I haven't used it for awhile so don't know when it broke, but it used to work.

After upgrading to the new xorg 7 packages, the gsfonts have not been
available. /usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1 contains all the symlinks to the
../../type1/gsfonts fonts, but font.dir in /usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1

misunderstanding how it's supposed to work? The other fonts in

fine, are showing up in fonts.dir and are available to X.

gsfonts-x11 (0.20) unstable; urgency=low

  * Extend the README file with comments about font path and the order of
75/100dpi:unscaled, Type1, 75/100dpi (scaled) (Closes: #248266).
  * Build-Depends instead of Build-Depends-Indep on debhelper and the like.
  * Update debian/compat to 5.
  * Update Standards-Version to 3.7.2 (no changes).

gsfonts-x11 (0.19.0.1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * Rebuild with the latest debhelper so that update-fonts-dir gets called
with --x11r7-layout and fonts are registered properly to the X server.
(Closes: #362911)
  * Bump build-dependency on debhelper to (>= 5.0.35), since that's the
version that gets everything right.

Thanks for the report. The problem is that kaffe is built with GCC 4.1
which is known to break kaffe because of some aliasing. Compilation of
kaffe with GCC 4.0 wuld fix this but Matthias Klose told me that he will
drop GCC 4.0 from etch/sid soon. Upstream is working on the needed fixes
and will do a release when done. I really hope this is done soon.

Cheers,
Michael

It seems something wrong happened when my sponsor built the package, I will try
to see what happen when my sponsor built the package. Here is the content of

Bug#376366: file-rc 0.8.8 breaks system boot

2006-07-02 Thread Andreas Pakulat
Package: file-rc
Version: 0.8.7
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Hi,

last night I upgraded file-rc to 0.8.8 before shutting down the pc. And
this morning when it tried to boot somehow the init scripts weren't run
properly. I landed on a login-prompt, while a display manager should've
come up. After logging in, all that is mounted is /, no /usr, no /var
nothing else.

I rebooted into single user mode and it seemed that no init-scripts were
run, i.e. not even udev. I again had only / mounted and had no way of
even activating my LVM volumes (I don't have the error messages from
that at hand).

After reinstalling 0.8.7 everythings fine again.

Andreas

Bug#376294: python-twisted issue?

You might by right because several hours later I finaly installed
apt-proxy on that system. I used diferent repository, one of
amd64.debian.net mirror. I saw many other packages of python-twisted. I
read in few posts that previous python-twisted package was splitted into
smaller ones and that caused a problem.

Strange that official repo didn't work.

Bug#376320: Problem found?

2006-07-02 Thread Damián Viano
I think I found the problem, the docs, changelogs and man's are
installed by dh_* helpers in build-indep which according to [1] has not
been run. That's because the buildd is trying to build only
arch-specific packages, as stated in [1]:

 "dpkg-genchanges: arch-specific upload - not including arch-independent
 packages"

You should probably re-read [2], since AIUI binary-indep target is to
create *packages* with "arch: all", in other words arch-indep, but not
to make steps of the build that are arch-indep.

Damián Viano(Des).

A new security issue has been discovered in freeradius:

2006.03.20 v1.0.5, and v1.1.0 - A validation issue exists with the
EAP-MSCHAPv2 module in all versions from 1.0.0 (where the module
first appeared) to 1.1.0. Insufficient input validation was being
done in the EAP-MSCHAPv2 state machine. A malicious attacker could
manipulate their EAP-MSCHAPv2 client state machine to potentially
convince the server to bypass authentication checks. This bypassing
could also result in the server crashing. We recommend that
  administrators upgrade immediately.

   * Acknowledge my previous NMU's (closes: #351732, #359042)
   * Init scripts overhaul:
 - now use reload on upgrade of modules
 - replace sleep statements with --retry, as time based tests are
   fragile
 - no longer exit with an error if stop fails because the
   daemon isn't running (closes: #374670, #351735)
 - stop using command -v in /bin/sh scripts
   * General maintainer script overhaul:
 - Don't rm -rf something in /etc (ouch)
 - Use chown -R instead of 'find .. -exec'
 - should not need to manually remove the init script on purge (it's a dpkg
   managed conffile)
 - Only do user management stuff if user is missing. No point rerunning it
   every upgrade.
 - Install /etc/freeradius/dictionary with relaxed permissions, but never
   touch it again (closes: #334299)
 - switch to debhelper files where possible. I like an easy to read
   Makefile.
   * Arg. Move README.rfc to the freeradius package where it belongs.
 .
   [ Mark Hymers ]
   * Document building SSL/PostgreSQL modules in debian/rules, add
control.postgresql to make it more convenient. Tested on AMD64 using
 system libtool.

This is a known upstream problem with latest scons.

As a simple workarround you can add

mkdir -p $(CURDIR)/debian/wengophone/usr/lib/wengophone;

immediately after any scons call in debian/rules.

I'm working to new wengophone 2.0 beta3, that does not have this
problem.

Ciao

Yes. However your strace shows something weird going on in there. It
should have logged the error message but it didn't. I'll check the code
why.

Yes this is the same conclusion I reached. But dovecot should not be
using it by default. Looks like the configure check may be broken?

I can confirm this behavior. Additionally, shutdown fails: One is
dropped into a sulogin prompt. The only way to shut the system down
seems to be pulling the plug.

Downgrading to 0.8.7 solved the issue for me as well.

Greetings

Package: eclipse-platform
Version: 2.1.3-4
Severity: grave

If I take any file in Eclipse, and drag it onto itself, or drag it onto
the editor section, the editor section opens a tab saying that the file
does not exist. Surely enough, when I browse for the file in my
filesystem, it is no longer there. This is incredibly serious, as data
can be irrevocably deleted from the system, by a simple (and possibly
common) user error.

This is an experiment to see if my theory about BTS' version tracking bugs is
correct or not; if I'm right, the bug should now be marked as fixed in
"3.1.1-1" (mapping to source package "eclipse/3.1.1-1" internally), finally
marking it as closed in unstable.

/usr/share/doc/cmus just contains the directory "examples".
In particular, the required copyright file is missing.

Section 12.5 says:

The changelog files are also missing. A README (and/or README.Debian)

Sure, attached.

This appears to be your problem here:

epoll_create(128) = -1 ENOSYS (Function not
implemented)
write(2, "Fatal: ", 7) = -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor)
write(2, "epoll_create(): Bad file descrip"..., 35) = -1 EBADF (Bad file
descriptor)
write(2, "\n", 1) = -1 EBADF (Bad file descriptor)

Does your kernel not support epoll?

The other question is why is dovecot trying to use it? I thought you
needed to have a special configure option to enable it and poll(2) is used
by default. Investigating...

Bug#376366: file-rc 0.8.8 breaks system boot

2006-07-02 Thread Black Dew
This seems to happen because the IFS variable is changed inside the
"element" function and isn't restored back. This makes the config file
be parsed incorrectly and none of the boot scripts are run.

I've worked around this problem by saving and restoring the IFS in the
loop that parses the config file.

Sort of. The patch that was supposed to fix the epoll/kqueue/etc checks
also made it use epoll/kqueue by default if they were found. I changed
this back and added --with-ioloop=auto to do it if wanted.. Shouldn't
accept patches that blindly. :)

Yes, and indeed it is:

  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=eclipse-platform;dist=testing

Thus, my theory was correct; the "close" command to control@ appends the
wrong source package to the version when it adds it the list of fixed
versions.

Bug#376295: AW: Re: [pkg-ntp-maintainers] Bug#376295: ntpdate doesn't work

2006-07-02 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Ok, did some investigation: removing /etc/services (after having
installed inetutils-inetd) causes ntpdate to fail, so you're
correct.

(just fyi: other packages like syslog and most likely fam are also
affected by that, so maybe it would make sense to communicate with
each other ...)

My first guess is that it's missing /etc/services which is

It seems CEGUI as of version 0.3.0 has no longer any documentation shipped
with the Linux tarballs. Currently the documentation can only be found
from the win32 zip available from:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/crayzedsgui/cegui_mk2-0.3.0-win32.zip?download.
Maybe this should also be reported to the upstream?

Hi,

This bug has been marked as closed for a while, but due to a bug in the
"close" command in the BTS, it has been marked as closed in a non-existant
source package, and thus is not properly regarded as closed in
testing/unstable. I'm closing it now using a mail to -done with the correct
version; this should fix the issue.

Yes, this is because Raphael fixed the shell script but did not fix the gpl.c
file, as this file will only regenerate if the COPYING file gets modified,
and it did not, the NMU patch (and binary) did not include a proper gpl.c
file.

Uploading a new version now including Raphael's changes and fixing this

 .
   * Acknowledge NMU (Closes: #375404, #314488, #331619)
   * Modify gpl.c so that it builds properly, since COPYING was not changed
the Makefile would not regenerate it using generate-gpl.sh so the previous
NMU did not fix the issue properly (Closes: #375404)
   * Build-Depends on libsnmp9-dev since it's the only libsnmp that provides
 snmp_api.h (Closes: #359204)

Hi,

This bug has been marked as closed for a while, but due to a bug in the
"close" command in the BTS, it has been marked as closed in a non-existant
source package, and thus is not properly regarded as closed in
testing/unstable. I'm closing it now using a mail to -done with the correct

Bug#328200: ntp: Source package contains unlicensed files

2006-07-02 Thread Kurt Roeckx
Hi,

I've been looking at this, and I've been able to remove and build
most of it so far. It just needs some more work in adjusting
configure script and Makefiles and things like that. I removed
the following dirs/files which all seem to be unused, or easely
worked around:
arlib/
ElectricFence/
sntp/
util/ansi2knr.c
util/ansi2knr.1
html/build/hints/solaris-dosynctodr.html
libntp/adjtime.c
include/adjtime.h
include/rsa_md5.h
libntp/md5c.c
include/timepps-SCO.h
include/timepps-Solaris.h
include/timepps-SunOS.h
kernel/tty_chu_STREAMS.c
ports/winnt/libntp/messages.mc
ports/winnt/include/hopf_PCI_io.h
scripts/monitoring/lr.pl
scripts/monitoring/ntp.pl
scripts/monitoring/ntploopstat
scripts/monitoring/ntploopwatch
scripts/monitoring/ntptrap
scripts/ntpver.in

If I didn't forget something, that should leave the following
files:
libparse/clk_wharton.c
ntpd/refclock_neoclock4x.c

I'm going to start by contacting the copyright holders of those 2
files. If needed, it shouldn't be too hard to disable those 2
and remove them too.

After that, I'll start contacting the copyright holders of
for some of the other files.

Kurt

there is a very rough patch to fix kaffe's stack frame unwinding with
gcc 4.1.x for CVS head at http://www.kaffe.org/~robilad/gcc-4.1.rough.diff
I'll see if I can bring it down to just the necessary bits and pieces.

This comes from libsnmp4.2-dev being installed instead of needed libsnmp9-dev.
This can be fixed by depending directly on libsnmp9-dev instead of libsnmp-dev
or by making sure that all libsnmp-dev providing packages work.

Thanks for considering.

Since this is most likely an amd64-specific bug opened against the wrong
package and the submitter can't reproduce anymore, I'm closing this bug. If
anyone using amd64 etch can reproduce this, please investigate which package
is causing this issue and open a bug against it if that's not already done.

what complained, exactly? note that nagios-mysql does not depend
on mysql-server intentionally, as there are cases where the local

i'm changing the severity, because it's perfectly able to do so, but in
some cases it may require manual intervention before it can operate.
yes some applications still require this :)

so in closing, i'll happily add mysql-server stuff to the recommends:
line for the package (and thepackage description), though this won't
prevent your problem from re-occurring.

it seems you may have also encountered some kind of bug in the
config file generation, but i'm not sure if that's the case or
ifit's only an after-effect of the previous problem. in any
case if you do believethere's a seperate bug about this problem,
please provideme with a littlem ore information about it and
how i can reproduce it, otherwise i'll close the bug when i
upload the package with the changes i've mentioned above.

The message I provided was given to me by bug-buddy. However, I don't
have any file /usr/libexec/sensors-applet on my system (nor even
/usr/libexec/) and I don't remember having manually installed anything
related to sensors-applet. So, there must also be a problem with
bug-buddy or with the way sensors-applet is compiled, leading to this
erroneous location for sensors-applet reported by bug-buddy.

Anyway, I really think that this bug should stay opened and assigned to
sensors-applet.

Cheers,

2006-07-02 Thread Luk Claes
Package: wmcpu
Severity: serious
Version: 1.3-4.1

Hi

Your package is not installable as x11-common conflicts with version <=
1.3-4.1

The reason it conflicts with your package is that your package still
uses /usr/X11R6.

Cheers

Luk

This is not a bug in sensors-applet either. Packages in Debian don't
use /usr/libexec, and this includes the sensors-applet package.
Therefore this file comes from a local installation.

Bug#376426: libnss-ldap: Can't login even as local user

2006-07-02 Thread Vedran Furač
Package: libnss-ldap
Version: 251-5

Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrade to version 251 I can't login as a user in ldap and even as
root which is a local user. Login process dies with SIGPIPE.
It only happens without nscd.
