Bug#419111: context: Fails to install: ctxfmtutil: line 12: kpsewhich: command not found
Dear release people, I think you know best how to contact buildd admins. Reversing the order of what Kurt Roeckx [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=dfsbuildver=1.0.0arch=amd64stamp=1176485127file=log This one was probably attempted after the first one? No wonder. It's just that removal of texlive-nearlyeverything failed, and now dpkg thinks the files are still present, while they aren't. Now that the debhelper change has been reverted, we can't rebuild texlive with fixed tex-common. We need to upload a reverted tex-common, and then rebuild texlive. Until this has happened, buildds should be prevented to install texlive if that is possible, and the buildds need to be fixed. I think they will even fix themselves as soon as they once installed and then purged a working version. Thanks. The following is only interesting to the bug in Cc: It happened after I got those 2 buildd log: http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=frown;ver=0.6.1-6;arch=amd64;stamp=1176485011 This one doesn't show any bug except the removal ones, which are due to the debhelper change. And it shows a strange thing, namely that context is installed at all - I think we've got some dependencies wrong, but I don't see it. Hm, or it's a problem with the buildd log: the commandline in the buildd log installs only texlive packages, but actualy tetex-bin is installed, too. And that pulls in context. Bug#419225: segfault on some kind of printf
Package: libc6 Version: 2.5-1 Severity: grave --- Please enter the report below this line. --- The recent libc6 makes printf segfault with some kind of arguments. I do not (yet) test all of the possibility, but here is a small example : #include stdio.h int main() { //double a=0.00999624628294258; double a=9.99624628294258e-05; printf(e: %e\n, a); printf(f: %f\n, a); printf(g: %g\n, a); printf(e: %.3e\n, a); printf(f: %.3f\n, a); printf(g: %.3g\n, a); return 0; } I tried to compile and run on this machine (i386, up-to-date sid) and an AMD64 (also up-to-date, sid, ie libc6 2.5-1) In both case, this program gives : [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ./toto e: 9.996246e-05 f: 0.000100 g: 9.99625e-05 e: 9.996e-05 f: 0.000 Erreur de segmentation [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ I also tried this program with a a few months old sid with a 2.3.6.ds1-10 libc6 (amd64). So my question is why did you do before trying to replace libc6 version 2.5-1 with the same version? First I wanted to do a normal upgrade from the last published version of libc6 to 2.5-1. This failed with a similiar error message as the reported. Now I started Knoppix and tried to repair my system (I unpackd libc6_2.5-1_i386.deb from snapshot.debian.org - I thought wrongly this was the version before). Now I started my debian system and wanted to continue the failed installation process and got the reported error message. There are a lot of files in /lib/tls that belong to libc 2.3.2 (libdl-2.3.2.so ...). Perhaps they were not deleted by an old upgrade. dpkg -S returns no packages that files in /lib/tls belong to. After mv /lib/tls /lib/tls.old the system runs normally and the upgrade continued without errors.

That's precisely what it does. H. Looking at the contents of a freshly-downloaded cdrecord deb, it does appear to ship a symlink. However, on my system, I have: $ ls -ld /usr/share/doc/cdrecord drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2006-09-07 21:01 /usr/share/doc/cdrecord The same appears to hold true for the doc directories in the couple of other packages I filed bugs on. I have not done anything unusual here. I had the non-dummy packages installed at one point, and later upgraded to the dummy packages. Have I perhaps run afoul of some bug concerning the replacement of a directory with a symlink? Yes, the cdrecord package previously shipped /usr/share/doc/cdrecord as a directory, and does not correctly handle the upgrade -- which IIRC involves rm -rf'ing the directory in the preinst of the new package version, so that the symlink can be correctly created in the unpack stage. I have to confess i did not test it using postgres 8.1.x, there are several problems in the forums related to zabbix versions 1.1.2 - 1.1.4, newer versions contain some fixes in order to make zabbix work on 8.1 (and are creating tables using WITH OIDS according to the changelogs). So well, there might also be problems if you try to add screens and the like, i think the best solution would be to make zabbix{-server-pgsql,frontend-php} have a Recommends on postgresql-7.4, instead of postgresql-8.1 which is known to work (fixing the php scripts would take quite some changes and i dont want to mess it, though). Fabio: whats your opinion here? Are you running zabbix on postgresql-8.1? Upstream mentions Postgresql version 7.2 as supported but not 8.x. bye, - michael

This is something authorized that should work. In your case this fails because of the presence of /lib/tls/libc.so.6. However this file does not belong to libc6 2.5-1, it should have been during the upgrade from 2.3.6 to 2.5. Could you please give us the date of those files (ls -l /lib/tls would be the best), so that we can try to trace the problem to a libc6 version? -- .''`. Package: proftpd-mysql Version: 1.3.0-19 Severity: grave This is not really mysql related, but should apply to all proftpd sql packages. The first is perfectly true, so is the second, BUT: a system-user is also able to login with ! or * as password. ! or * in /etc/shadow indicates a bad password, so the user shouldn't be able to login (this is done for the users www-data, ftp, postfix, etc...) but proftpd seems to ignore that, if SQLAuthTypes Plaintext is set and allows the user to login with ! or * as password (whatever is set in /etc/shadow). There are a lot of files in /lib/tls that belong to libc 2.3.2 (libdl-2.3.2.so ...). Perhaps they were not deleted by an old upgrade. Could you please give us the date of those files (ls -l /lib/tls would be the best), so that we can try to trace the problem to a libc6 version? Bug#419119: texlive-lang-german: fails to install completely
Hi you two! On Fre, 13 Apr 2007, Gerd Sebald wrote: fmtutil: no format depends on `/usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/generic/config/language.dat'. Bummer. Why this??? Frank, do you have any idea??? It should be /var/lib/texmf/tex/generic/config/language.dat tex-common's postinstall calls update-language and it *must* be already configured! So this is a mystery to me!!! As Frank said: On Sam, 14 Apr 2007, Frank Küster wrote: Do you still have it installed? Could you please run # sh -x /var/lib/dpkg/info/texlive-lang-german.postinst configure 21 | tee postinst.log And send us the file postinst.log? That would be the only thing which could help us. For Frank: You are right, the availability in the postinst scripts is already checked for, I always forget what I have already done ;-) Back to zero, this is a no-idea! Bug#419255: proftpd allows logins with almost no password if configured with SQLAuthTypes Plaintext
On Sat, Apr 14, 2007 at 06:29:06PM +0200, Evgeni Golov wrote: Package: proftpd-mysql Version: 1.3.0-19 Severity: grave This is not really mysql related, but should apply to all proftpd sql packages. I have the following configuration in my proftpd.conf: SQLAuthTypes Crypt Plaintext SQLAuthenticate users* groups* SQLConnectInfo [EMAIL PROTECTED] syscp MYSQL_PASSWORD SQLUserInfo ftp_users username password uid gid homedir shell SQLGroupInfo ftp_groups groupname gid members SQLUserWhereClause login_enabled = 'y' One should think, a user who is defined in ftp_users should be able to login with his password (which can be encrypted or not) and a system-user should also be able to login. Of course that partially depends on your authoritative information choice. If you added (disabled) system users to sql user table, that would not happen. The same if you - used the mod_sql as the only authoritative one - added system users to ftpusers etc - the system user shells are not listed /etc/shells and RequireValidShell is on Anyway as a maintainer I agree that the rule of least surprise should be apply. IMHO this is a grave security bug, because if someone enables plaintext for SQL anyone can login with (guessable) system-accounts and do some sh** :( PS: Please enclose your complete proftpd.conf, sql and syslogs, and what ever useful for tracking in any report. -- Francesco P. Bug#416594: nvidia-kernel-source: Patch comments
Package: nvidia-kernel-source Version: 1.0.8776-4 Followup-For: Bug #416594 -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 Hello all, I can confirm that I've also experienced this problem with nvidia-kernel-source package version 1.0.8776-4. I've got a slightly different configuration to the previous bug reports - I'm running on AMD64, and I'm using a stock 2.6.20.7 kernel source. I first experienced this problem with 2.6.20.1, but never with 2.6.19 and earlier. For 2.6.20.1, I came up with a very messy workaround that wasn't satisfactory. This time, with 2.6.20.7,I tried Bastian Kleineidam's suggested patch, which worked fine. I noticed that the ROOT_CMD variable is used in a variety of other places in the makefile, though, and wondered if these might need changing, too. Not being an expert on the way packages are built, I can't really comment on this, but thought it was worth raising the issue. Bug#412833: ivritex no longer installable
ivritex should be removed from testing so that it won't block texlive, there is someone who said he is working on merging the needed ivritex bits into upstream babel. I'll try to see how that goes and if we can simply remove ivritex or just make it a setup package for Hebrew fonts. We need to upload a reverted tex-common, and then rebuild texlive. Until this has happened, buildds should be prevented to install texlive if that is possible, and the buildds need to be fixed. I think they will even fix themselves as soon as they once installed and then purged a working version. What happens if we do install texlive other then it breaks on removal? Nothing if the right packages will be installed. But as soon as it was attempted once, everytime it is tried the next time builds will fail because they think the postrm-failed texlive packages are still installed and do not try to install them again. That's what resulted in the context error in the second build log. If none of the buggy texlive packages are installed, the new ones will be automatically picked up when they are available. If they are installed, the least that needs to be done is to manually install and purge the new ones; I didn't check whether this is sufficient. I know we should, but I don't have any time this weekend, and Norbert probably not much, and we rather upload working packages as soon as possible. If the automatic cleanup (i.e. just installing the new ones) does not help, we need an other upload of tex-common to fix this. Bug#419300: Switch to dh_gtkmodules for the gtk 2.10 transition
Package: gtk2-engines-qtpixmap Version: 0.28-1.1 Severity: serious Usertags: gtk-2.10-transition Hi, I've uploaded Gtk 2.10 to unstable and it changes ABI, which means that your package will not work with Gtk 2.10 as is. The Gtk 2.10 package added conflicts with the above version of your package to prevent any problem, but you need to update your package to call the new dh_gtkmodules tool: this tool will add a virtual dependency on the gtk ABI via ${misc:Depends} to make the next transition easier -- only an automatic rebuild will be needed for the next transition. Updating your package should be relatively easy: 1) Bump up the libgtk2.0-dev build-dep to = 2.10.1-1. 2) Call dh_gtkmodules on the package(s) shipping the module(s). If you build a library in the same source, you might need to set an appropriate LD_LIBRARY_PATH for dh_gtkmodules to work. 3) Make sure you have ${misc:Depends} in the dependencies of the package(s) shipping the module(s); this should add a gtk2.0-binver-2.10.0 dependency. 4) If your package ships gdk-pixbuf loaders modules or input methods modules: a) Make sure you ship the new /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/*/loader-files.d/* and/or /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/*/immodule-files.d/* lists. b) Remove any call to update-gdkpixbuf-loaders or update-gtk-immodules or anything touching files in /etc/gtk-2.0 in your postinst/postrm/etc. scripts. Please ask me if anything above isn't clear! A concrete example of all the above changes (worst case) is libwmf; this is how the necessary changes look like: http://lists.debian.org/debian-gtk-gnome/2006/10/msg00045.html Bye, -- Loïc Minier
Bug#419298: libcomplearn-mod-ppmdx: Uninstallable on 64-bit arches due to ppmd's unavailability
Package: libcomplearn-mod-ppmdx Severity: grave Version: 0.9.7-2 Hi libcomplearn-mod-ppmdx is not installable on alpha, amd64 and ia64 because ppmd does not work on these architectures. The best thing is probably to not build this binary package on these architectures as they cannot be used anyway.
