Bug#421684: unhandled exception in callback for any feed
Hi, bug #421684 might be a problem with libgnome2-vfs-perl. Does anyone feel like checking that? Maybe a recompile is all it takes so solve it, maybe not. Greetings, Joachim Am Samstag, den 05.05.2007, 18:45 +0200 schrieb Frank Pavageau: Hi. I've got the same problem since last night, when I did a massive dist-upgrade after a month and a half (the last one was before Etch was released). I have a GNOME environment, but I don't think that's relevant. I don't really know perl, but I can read some of it and add a few print statements to do some basic debugging. The problem is that my $uri = Gnome2::VFS::URI-new($url); on line 57 of /usr/share/yarssr/Yarssr/Fetcher.pm doesn't return anything, so $uri is indeed undefined. Bug#422408: [CVE-2007-2423] XSS in action=AttachFiledo=...
Florian Weimer skrev: Package: python-moinmoin Version: 1.5.7-2 Tags: security Severity: grave Proof of concept: http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/WikiSandBox?action=AttachFiledo=%3Cblink%3ETest%3C/blink%3E This is CVE-2007-2423. Please mention this name in the changelog when you fix this bug. Thanks for the report. A fixed package has been uploaded to unstable with urgency=high. For the security team: Unfortunately I do not have access to an etch machine (with development tools installed and not contaminated by non-Debian stuff). Attached is the upstream fix adjusted to moin-1.5.3 in stable (patch 00829..). Simply adding the patch to debian/patches and rebuilding should work. I have not tested if the patch works, but upstream has, and the adjustments were minor so I doubt bugs could have crept in. I also have not checked if the bug is also in the much older version in oldstable. Attached is also a couple of other security-related patches (00821.. and 00825..) that I am uncertain if is relevant to include as well. That's true. However, it would be much better to ask upstream to change from epsf.tex to graphicx.sty. For LaTeX documents, epsf.tex has been obsolete for about 13 years... The culprit is texinfo.tex, which is shipped in the octave* and octave*-packages and includes epsf.tex. Even the most recent upstream version of this file [1] includes epsf.tex. I think that graphics.sty would not work with texinfo, because it is TeX rather than LaTeX. That's correct - I must apologize for not looking closely at the build log. And actually it shouldn't be the responsibility of a package which uses texinfo to figure that out. It makes sense that texinfo only Suggests: a TeX system, but it should really suggest what it actually needs. Bug#421790: gcc-4.1: Dynamic symbol information missing in stripped libraries
The upgrade of gcc from 4.1.2-4 to 4.1.2-5 is breaking builds of the installer. The problem seems to be that a stripped library no longer contains dynamic symbol information. [...] It seems to only generate a gnu hash now. Looking at the difference in sections between -4 and -5, .hash got replaced by a .gnu.hash section. I think it's just a bug in readelf that it can't deal with the gnu hash. Any ETA on a solution for this? ATM almost all Debian Installer builds are failing because of this issue. We really need this fixed in unstable. Cheers, FJP pgpzjGa975xAi.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#422540: rxvt-unicode does not build with autoconf 2.61
Package: rxvt-unicode Version: 7.9-2 Severity: serious Justification: no longer builds from source You can try this on debian/lenny: # apt-get source rxvt-unicode # cd rxvt-unicode-7.9 # ./autogen.sh # ./debian/rules build snip In file included from logging.C:40: ptytty.h:36:4: error: #error cannot build with utmp support - no utmp or utmpx struct found Why would I run autogen? I wanted to make some changes to urxvt which included changing the configure.ac, and thus I needed to run ./autogen.sh script. It broke the build. So I went back to the clean sources to make sure that it wasn't my diff that broke things. Analysis: The bug is caused by the configure script improperly generating the config.h file. There are actually a lot of differences between the config.h generated by packaged configure (created by autogen 2.59), and that which is generated by the configure created by autogen 2.61. In this case it's this: /* Define location of utmpx */ -#define UTMPX_FILE /var/run/utmp +/* #undef UTMPX_FILE */ /* Define location of utmp */ -#define UTMP_FILE /var/run/utmp +/* #undef UTMP_FILE */ I am really confused how the same configure.ac could end up creating so different config.h files... # diff -u ../config.h-working config.h | diffstat config.h | 26 +- 1 file changed, 13 insertions(+), 13 deletions(-) Let me know if I can help. -Bart -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.20.7-xenon64-smp.14 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages rxvt-unicode depends on: ii base-passwd 3.5.11 Debian base system master password ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfontconfig1 2.4.2-1.2generic font configuration library ii libgcc1 1:4.1.1-21 GCC support library ii libperl5.8 5.8.8-7 Shared Perl library ii libx11-62:1.0.3-7X11 client-side library ii libxft2 2.1.12-2 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxpm4 1:3.5.5-2X11 pixmap library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.1-3X Rendering Extension client libra ii ncurses-base5.5-5Descriptions of common terminal ty rxvt-unicode recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#421684: unhandled exception in callback for any feed
Joachim Breitner [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: bug #421684 might be a problem with libgnome2-vfs-perl. Does anyone feel like checking that? Maybe a recompile is all it takes so solve it, maybe not. Errm, if a recompile would be needed to fix this, there is some break in the ABI and we need to file a bug against gnome-vfs. I'm writing this mail on the train and can thus not look up the context of your mail (which I would love to have seen as CC), but it's on my todo list now. It may take some time to come round to look at this issue, though, so if someone else is interested in checking this - feel free to do so, just keep me in the loop. Bug#422543: roundcube: Missing dependencies
Package: roundcube Version: 0.1~beta2.2~dfsg-2 Severity: grave Tags: patch Justification: renders package unusable Roundcube does not depend (not even recommends!) any IMAP client extension. Therefore, it is unusable until the user manually installs one. The error messages given by roundcube itself (both at the frontpage and within the logs) are not that helpful. The solution: to depend on php5-imap | php4-imap in addition to the current dependencies. I have tested it on a couple servers already, same behaviour. Please note that my own roundcube package does depend on php5-imap and works out-of-the box in the same system (I don't have time to maintain it properly, otherwise, I would have uploaded it quite some time ago) Thanks, J.L. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21 (PREEMPT) Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=ISO-8859-15) (ignored: LC_ALL set to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages roundcube depends on: [excerpted] ii apache2-mpm-prefork [httpd] 2.2.3-4+b1 Traditional model for Apache HTTPD ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.13 Debian configuration management sy ii mysql-client-5.0 [mysql-clien 5.0.38-3 mysql database client binaries ii php5 5.2.2-1server-side, HTML-embedded scripti ii php5-mysql5.2.2-1MySQL module for php5 ii ucf 3.001 Update Configuration File: preserv roundcube recommends no packages. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. severity 422543 normal tags 422543 +moreinfo +unreproducible thanks Le Sunday 06 May 2007 22:09:26 Jose Luis Tallon, vous avez écrit : Package: roundcube Version: 0.1~beta2.2~dfsg-2 Severity: grave Tags: patch Justification: renders package unusable Roundcube does not depend (not even recommends!) any IMAP client extension. Please note that my own roundcube package does depend on php5-imap and works out-of-the box in the same system (I don't have time to maintain it properly, otherwise, I would have uploaded it quite some time ago) Well, just tested it here, php5-imap does not seem to be needed.. Hence, I don't understand your bug could you specify step to reproduce it ? Romain -- How can a man Discover a land That already populated with Indians?

The full build log is available from http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2007/05/rebuild.sid.i386/ About the archive rebuilt: The rebuilt was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386 environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems. About Grid'5000: Grid'5000 is an highly reconfigurable experimental Grid platform gathering 9 sites and featuring a total of 5000 CPUs. Steve Langasek wrote: reopen 400066 thanks - restrict building to just i386, amd64 (Closes: #400066) This is not an acceptable solution at all. There is nothing x86-specific about this package, and even up to *0.5.1-1*, the package was building successfully on alpha until you changed the architecture list. This is indeed a transient solution, suggested by upstream himself. Upstream version 0.4.5 of lcdproc was portable to all architectures. That 0.5.1 is not is a regression, and it's not ok to close the issue by declaring that only i386 and amd64 will be supported. It is the release policy that packages must be supported on all architectures where it is reasonable to do so, and it is most definitely reasonable to support architectures where the package was building fine before. But it is my fault that the newer 0.5.2 hasn't been packaged yet. Which I will do as soon as possible (I have to sort out a couple other packages before) The only architecture that should be dropped from the supported list for this package is s390, because s390 does not support serial, parallel, and USB devices; but all other archs must be supported I concur... even though I don't know how the different parallel devices should be supported across architectures. While the serial devices have always had good, uniform, support, I don't know how parallel ports are handled outside of the PC architecture. Even though it sounds a bit hack-ish, I think I might try a different set of configuration flags depending on the architecture (enable parallel drivers for i386/amd64, disable them for the remaining arches). Am I making some wrong assumption here, Jonathan? Thank you for your semi-constant attention and help, Steve. It is much appreciated. The only architecture that should be dropped from the supported list for this package is s390, because s390 does not support serial, parallel, and USB devices; but all other archs must be supported I concur... even though I don't know how the different parallel devices should be supported across architectures. While the serial devices have always had good, uniform, support, I don't know how parallel ports are handled outside of the PC architecture. They're handled identically on some architectures, and not at all on some other architectures. (Alpha has parallel, which is why the package built ok on alpha; some other architectures don't support parallel.) Even though it sounds a bit hack-ish, I think I might try a different set of configuration flags depending on the architecture (enable parallel drivers for i386/amd64, disable them for the remaining arches). Am I making some wrong assumption here, Jonathan? Well, the assumption that parallel should only be enabled on i386/amd64 is wrong. It should definitely be enabled on alpha, and I believe on ia64. Looking at the build logs for 0.5.1-1, it's probably ok to disable it on all the other architectures. Bug#422573: sysprof-module-source built on ia64, does not support this arch in source
Package: sysprof Version: 1.0.7-1 Severity: grave Justification: binary package in the archive is unusable on built arch Hi Sam, The sysprof-modules-source package is being built on ia64 per debian/control, but the source of module/sysprof-module.c includes the following code: /* Macro the names of the registers that are used on each architecture */ #if defined(CONFIG_X86_64) # define REG_FRAME_PTR rbp # define REG_INS_PTR rip # define REG_STACK_PTR rsp #elif defined(CONFIG_X86) # define REG_FRAME_PTR ebp # define REG_INS_PTR eip # define REG_STACK_PTR esp #else # error Sysprof only supports the i386 and x86-64 architectures #endif Neither CONFIG_X86_64 nor CONFIG_X86 would be defined on ia64 AFAIK, leaving sysprof-module-source broken on ia64 if anyone tried to actually use it to build the module.
