Hi there,

I think I have found a grave problem in the kcheckgmail that comes with
Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 "etch".

Basically, it always fails to authenticate to gmail.com, with the following
error message:
"Erreur inconnue lors de la récupération des cookies"
which roughly translates to:
"Unknown error while retrieving cookies".

Here's the output of kchecgkmail:

The folowwing patch takes care of the rename and tightens
build-depends to make sure the replacement is caught.

BTW, since this builds entirely with free tools, it might be possible
to build it in all arches, instead of only i386 and amd64 (it seems to
be blocked by the autobuilders, as the package is arch: any).

Hello,

I did several tests yesterday and pan doesn't crash anymore when
switching newsgroups. I think upstream has fixed this issue without
noticing the Debian BTS, so I close this bug now. If you can reproduce
this error again, please feel free to reopen the bug.

Pan crashes while switching newsgroups. While it is hard to determine exactly
when this will happen, to reproduce this, simply read all interesting messages
in one newsgroup, then switch newsgroups. Eventually, it will crash.

For your debugging pleasure, I have included a backtrace from gdb, although it
contains no debugging symbols.

Bug#423956: passwd: upstream link in copyright file is dead

2007-05-14 Thread brian m. carlson
Package: passwd
Version: 1:4.0.18.1-8
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 12.5

The upstream link in the copyright file does not exist:

  sh-3.1$ host ftp.pld.org.pl.
  Host ftp.pld.org.pl not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

However, this is required by Policy:

In addition, the copyright file must say where the upstream sources
(if any) were obtained. It should name the original authors of the
package and the Debian maintainer(s) who were involved with its
  creation.

I would have provided a patch[0], but I only became aware of this problem
after a friend informed me that he couldn't find the upstream source.
Therefore, I have no way to create a patch.

[0] Yes, yes, I know that it's trivial, but a patch makes it that much
easier to fix.

Justification: no longer builds from source

Hi!

acl2 currently fails to build from source in sid [1].

This is due to the migration from teTeX to TeX Live currently
happening in sid [2]. You might want to talk a look at the help
page [3] listing hints and strategies to solve this issue.

This appears to be a false-positive triggered by transient uninstallability
of the tetex-* metapackages, which apparently are being kept around and have
already been updated to point at texlive for their dependencies.

All of acl2's build-dependencies are currently installable, and it looks
like acl2 builds successfully from source with these versions installed.

Package: tor
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 0.1.2.13-3

$ getent passwd |grep 109
debian-tor:x:109:109::/var/lib/tor:/bin/bash

Since I changed the owner of /var/run/tor to 109:109, the problem has
gone. I've installed tor long time ago from Debian, like several years
ago. I think postinst should check the ownership of /var/run/tor and
make proper change to it if needed.

This also means that it cannot be removed by normal means, and
that apt refuses to work until the mess is cleaned up.

After forcing an install of the 'ftp' package, the 'lftp' package
again can be upgraded. I suppose a simple fix would be to make
lftp Depend: or Pre-Depend: on ftp, but that does not seem like
the optimal solution.

That compile error was easy to fix (change the ULONG_PTR definition in
Source/Platform.h to ULONG), but now I get a bunch of these warnings on
pergolesi's sid_amd64 chroot:

/usr/bin/ld: warning: i386 architecture of input file

And then a whole lot of errors about C++/STL features not being
available.

Any ideas?

Bug#423946: gcalctool: storage registers lose data

2007-05-14 Thread John Marter
Package: gcalctool
Version: 5.8.25-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

In gcalctool 5.8.25-1 I can demonstrate a loss of a value in a storage register
with the following recipe.

I doubt it matters, but I entered all data using the mouse.
1, Sto->R0, CE, 2, Sto->R1, CE, 3, +/-, =, Sto->R2, Clr, Sto->R1, Sto->R0,
Calculator->Quit

Restarting the calculator shows that -3 is no longer stored in R2. Normally the
values that you store persist across invocations.

Bug#423936: libsword-dev_1.5.9-3: unsatisfiable versioned dep on libcurl3-gnutls-dev

2007-05-14 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: libsword-dev
Version: 1.5.9-3
Severity: grave
Tags: sid
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi Daniel,

libsword-dev is currently uninstallable in unstable, because it has a
versioned dependency on libcurl3-gnutls-dev (>= 7.15.0-5.1), and
libcurl3-gnutls-dev is now a virtual package provided by
libcurl4-gnutls-dev. Please update your dependencies accordingly.

This bug also makes it impossible to rebuild gnomesword for the libcurl4
library transition.

Cheers,

clamav is uninstallable due to libcurl3 -> libcurl4 transition. The
binNMU didn't help, because libcurl3-dev is in the build-dependencies
and there is no alternative dependency on libcurl-dev, which would have
helped to solve the problem. Please fix this, because it currently
prevents my pbuilder to build packages depending on libclamav-dev :)

Regards, Daniel

When the download manager window is used (opened ,focused, moved,

computer is slowed down.

Is this always true for you or just if there are downloads with
"unknown file size" ?

 - Alexander
The usage is proportional to the number of entries in the download
window, even if they are finished download. It seems that unknow file
size download doesn't matter.

Package: mga-vid
Version: 2.6.20-1
Severity: serious
Justification: packages must be supported on all architectures where it is
reasonable

Hi Sune,

Why is mga-vid only being built for amd64, hppa, i386, ia64, powerpc, and
sparc? The package is a driver for a class of PCI cards, and all
architectures except for s390 (and m68k?) have PCI support. The driver
builds fine for me on alpha after changing the architecture line. Unless
you know of a reason not to do so, please enable building this package for
alpha, arm, mips, and mipsel in addition to the architectures it's currently
being built for.

Severity: important

Hi,

Your package is failing to build on some arches with the following
error:
cc1: warnings being treated as errors
mcd-connection.c: In function '_mcd_connection_setup_avatar':
mcd-connection.c:793: warning: passing argument 3 of 'g_file_get_contents' from
incompatible pointer type

Guessing from the arches that are affected, I think this is related to a
size_t != int.

You're right, I'm changing the dependencies so that it depends on
libcurl3-gnutls-dev instead of libcurl3-openssl-dev

I get the same errors with all audio CD's i have tested (original audio CD's
with and without copy protection, security backups of these CD's, and last
but not least with self composed audio CD's from mp3 files burned with my or
other drives).

Many thanks, but I know the problematic with copy protection very well. ;-)

I'm nearly sure this issue isn't a kernel problem. I never had such kind of
problems with my drives except for my last etch update. Well, mounting my data
CD's or USB drives by hand like before is possible but obsolete.
You should know that these CD drives are used since Suse8.2 for all thinkable
CD (incl. audio CD) formats.
Killing hald-addon-storage solve the problem - in my mind the main reason for
a nonexistent kernel bug, but i hope we will find a better
solution. ;-)

Hi,

some days ago I've compiled version 2.18 from source against etch (I
backported the needed libraries), and it worked fine. I'm going to
test this new packages as well.

Is this an audio CD with copy protection or does this happen for all kinds of
audio CDs?

If it's the former, I guess there is nothing, we can really do about it besides
encouraging you to not buy copy protected audio CDs ;-)
Some copy protection uses defect sectors which purposefully tries to screw up
the operating system and as a side effect can cause your computer to lock up.

I would also say, this is a kernel problem then and not a hal problem.
It's only triggered by hal because hal tries to access the media to find out
what contents are on the cd.

Cheers,
Michael

Ok, at least nothing was trampled upon by our simultaneous work ;-)

Tell me, the latest changes you added (build-depends-indep on
libfile-rsync-perl, libnet-ssh-perl, ssmtp | mail-transport-agent and
versioning the dependence on libnet-ssh-perl - and, of course, adding
you as an uploader) have a relation with fixing the reported bug? I
have to admit I didn't build this on my pbuilder, so...

Ping me if you want the rest of the changes to be uploaded now.

Hmm, I have no idea what that is supposed to say. :-/

Methinks that you are either pointing apt at a corrupted archive, or one that
had an upgrade in process.

For what it's worth, I _just_ uploaded a new R version to unstable

Or maybe your local setup is confused. You are not supposed to mix released
N (stable) and N+2 (unstable) at the same priority. What is it that you are
trying to run? Stable ("etch"), testing ("lenny") or unstable ("sid") ?

Bug#423744: bobcat: FTBFS: i386: error: invalid conversion from 'sfsistat (*)(SMFICTX*, char*)' to 'sfsistat (*)(SMFICTX*, const char*)'

2007-05-14 Thread Frank B. Brokken
Dear Michael Ablassmeier, you wrote:

> Lucas has rebuild the archive on i386 and your package Failed to Build

> ...

The following can be used to provisionally repair the problem, pending the
arrival of the next upgrade:

In the file .../milter/milter (line 278), add `const':

virtual sfsistat unknown(char const *ptr)

same file, line 332, add `const':

static sfsistat mUnknown(SMFICTX *ctx, char const *ptr)

In the file .../milter/initialize.cc (line 84), change case label from EOM
(which was probably a typo) into DATA:

#if SMFI_VERSION > 3
case DATA: // was: EOM:
descr.xxfi_data = &mData;

AFAICS this works for both libmilter-dev 8.13.8-3 and 8.14.1-2.

Kind regards,

Hi,

I realise this build failure is a very old one but I still wanted to
file it finally and also explain it. The files in question have an 0444
mode, therefor cp will not overwrite them unless you use the --force
option or unless you are root (this is why the build actually suceeds
on buildds that use sudo instead of fakeroot). What I don't understand
is why the .css files are copied there manually in the first place
before you try to copy them there again...
The reason why this error did never occour in the unstable package
is because the files have an 0644 mode there.

seems like spl depends on an obsolete curl option and thus fail to build
against libcurl4.

Bug#423847: libmisdn-dev: missing dependency

2007-05-14 Thread Duck

Package: libmisdn-dev
Version: 0.0.0+cvs20060214-2
Severity: serious

Coin,

As /usr/include/mISDNlib.h, the only include file in libmisdn-dev, needs
linux/mISDNif.h, available in linux-headers-misdn, it must depends on
it. This lack renders libmisdn-dev unusuable, thus the severity.

Regards.

That's odd. Sounds like something major changed in python-numeric,
since its header file is missing... no, unstable still has 24.2-7 like
etch.

Have you tried rebuilding python-numeric with python 2.5, then building
pysparse? I notice that python-numeric does not appear in
http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2007/05/13/ , nor in any other
subdir of http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2007/ , so it seems not.

I see. This is a problem with the new python build system: it's hard to
tell which packages have been built with which version of python.
There's no reason for me to change my python-numeric dependency, but no
way for any build system to tell whether the same python-numeric package
has been built for the new python.

Reclassifying this as normal. If you can show that you built its python
dependencies with 2.5, and then this failed, then I will agree that it
is a bug in pysparse.

That's correct.

|
| Could you provide a diff of your build log against mine, so we can see

Absolutely. I keep all my local pbuilder logs. The one for littler_0.0.11-1,
which used r-base-core_2.5.0-1, went fine.

Let me just try to rebuild littler now as the previous upload was against R
2.5.0-1. It so happens that some upstream changes related to builds happened
since, and I reflected work in progress in R 2.5.0-2. It just may be that
that is the cause of all this.

Yup. Just failed for me too. So it simply is r-base-core_2.5.0-2, which had
a 'local' patch. I have been using a slightly newer patch release from
upstream at work; I will package that the current one this morning and
littler *should* be fine afterwards. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the bug report.

Dirk

Thanks for the report. I'll check it out ASAP. Peculiar that the error hasn't
come up earlier. Maybe something else changed inducing this compilation
error. I'll check it out, anyway.

Thanks again,

Bug#423835: debian-cd: Incorrect md5sum for Packages.gz files in Release file

2007-05-14 Thread Frans Pop
Package: debian-cd
Version: 3.0.2
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

I'm classifying this as serious as this makes the Release file invalid and
thus breaks the CD image. I found this bug because debootstrap threw an
error during an installation that Packages.gz was invalid. The install
did continue, probably because Packages was valid, but the red error
screen is still extremely disturbing.
I maybe worth fixing this for Etch as well.

The problem is in the function md5_files_for_release in
tools/make_disc_trees.pl where it recompresses the Packages file,
overwriting an existing Packages.gz file. This function is called with a
list of files from a 'find'. These files are processed one-by-one, but
apparently the order is not fixed.

If the order of the files is Packages-Packages.gz, then all is well: first
Packages is gzipped again and next the md5sum for the new Packages.gz is
determined.
If the order of the files is Packages.gz-Packages, then first the md5sum
for Packages.gz is determined but after that it gets overwritten by the
recompression of Packages (with even a much higher compression rate),
which explains the discrepancy of the md5sum and file size between the
Packages.gz file and its listing in the Release file.

That the order is reversed is shown by how they appear in the Release
file: in my case the .gz file is listed above the regular one.

The attached patch fixes the issue by splitting out the recompression into
a separate function.

Cheers,
FJP

Package: zope-quotafolder
Version: 0.1.1-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

zope-quotafolder depends on "zope2.8 | zope2.7 | zope (>= 2.6.2)".

zope2.8 have been removed from unstable. Its removal from testing is
currently blocked by zope-quotafolder as it would make it uninstallable.

zope-quotafolder dependencies should be updated to contain zope2.9 as
well.

~/littler-0.0.11# cat ldflags.txt
-Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib/R/lib

I am using sbuild.

Could you provide a diff of your build log against mine, so we can see
where it differs ?

Should be closed in the experimental version.

What shell is /bin/sh on that system?

Under bash + R 2.5.0-2, it all works:

make all-am
make[1]: Entering directory
`/var/autofs/net/chibud/home/edd/src/debian/Misc/svn/littler'
R_HOME= /usr/bin/R --silent --vanilla --slave < autoloads.R > autoloads.h

-I/usr/share/R/include -g -O2 -MT littler.o -MD -MP -MF ".deps/littler.Tpo" -c
-o littler.o littler.c; \
then mv -f ".deps/littler.Tpo" ".deps/littler.Po"; else rm -f
".deps/littler.Tpo"; exit 1; fi
gcc -I/usr/share/R/include -I/usr/share/R/include -g -O2 -L/usr/lib/R/lib -lR
-lblas-3 -L/usr/lib/R/lib -lRlapack \
`cat ldflags.txt` \
-o r littler.o
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/edd/src/debian/Misc/svn/littler'

whereas you reported

/usr/bin/make all-am
make[2]: Entering directory `/build/user/littler-0.0.11'
cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.-I/usr/share/R/include -I/usr/share/R/include
-g -Wall -O2 -c littler.c
littler.c: In function 'init_rand':
littler.c:451: warning: implicit declaration of function 'gettimeofday'
littler.c: In function 'main':
littler.c:611: warning: 'exit_val' may be used uninitialized in this function
cc -I/usr/share/R/include -I/usr/share/R/include -g -Wall -O2 -L/usr/lib/R/lib
-lR -lblas-3 -L/usr/lib/R/lib -lRlapack \
`cat ldflags.txt` \
-o r littler.o

The CC is very suspicous. Jeff and I do some things that depends on shell
and make in order to let littler find all the R libraries. For some reason,
that failed.

It all works/worked under pbuilder. How is Lucas' setup different?

Dirk

Bug#423722: Fwd: Bug#423722: pidgin-otr: undefined symbol: otrl_privkey_generate_FILEp

You're linking to too old a version of libotr. The CVS version of
pidgin-otr should use the CVS version of libotr. That's not new in

Well that's new to me and again not something I can guess... Previous
gaim-otr cvs snapshot worked fine with libotr 3.0.0

By not releasing anything and not letting me know about these kinds of
issues you're really not making my life as a packager "easy"...

I really believe that at this point you should be releasing either a
-rc or a 3.0.1... That would set a reference tombstone. If on the
other hand you do no longer plan on releasing anything and declare
that distributions should follow CVS instead, please let me know, I
would probably reconsider maintaining OTR in debian.

I'll repackage something soon.
