tag 419617 -unreproducible
thanks

I am removing the unreproducable tag from this bug as it is trivially
reproducable.

1) have an uim-common 1:1.4.1-1 installed
2) aptitude update
3) aptitude upgrade

Bug#425888: gnash: FTBFS [i386]: implicit declaration of function 'SWFMovie_writeExports'

2007-05-25 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

tags 425888 + patch
thanks

A quick search indicate that the symbol in question belong to the ming
package (libming0 and libming-dev), and there is no header file for
it. Looking in the ming source, I find the symbol in the movie.h
file:

  void SWFMovie_writeExports(SWFMovie movie);

Perhaps the movie.h file should be included in libming-dev? Until
that happen, I believe the gnash source need to define the prototype
on its own.

I believe this patch will solve the problem. I picked the
ming_utils.h file because it was included in all three test suite
files using the SWFMovie_writeExports symbol. Does it solve your
problem?

Bug#425968: tellico: wrong translation to German

2007-05-25 Thread Johannes Wiedersich
Package: tellico
Version: 1.2.5-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

The German translation is errenous.

'Editor' is translated as 'Verfasser', but 'Verfasser' means author. Correct
translation would be 'Herausgeber'.
'Publisher' is translated as 'Herausgeber', but 'Herausgeber' means editor.
Correct translation would be 'Verlag'.
'Organization' is translated as 'Unternehmen', but might be better translated
simply as 'Organisation'.

The resulting data base is unusable by external tools like Latex, hence 'causes
non-serious data loss'.

I include a bibtex export for a 'book', where I used Tellico's description as
content for the various fields.

Hi,

This loss of data is not in the sense that it will actually make existing
data disappear and break your existing collection, rather it doesn't
export them in the expected format. So I'm lowering priority to non-RC.

This bug is present in Etch. I will try to get a fix included in a point
release, but I can't promise it will be accepted by the SRMs.

These translations are still in the upstream svn, CCing Jens who takes
care of the de translation so I can get his input and possibly a fix for
it.

Thanks for the report,
Regis

 Justification: causes non-serious data loss

 The German translation is errenous.

'Editor' is translated as 'Verfasser', but 'Verfasser' means author.
 Correct translation would be 'Herausgeber'.
'Publisher' is translated as 'Herausgeber', but 'Herausgeber' means
editor. Correct translation would be 'Verlag'.
'Organization' is translated as 'Unternehmen', but might be better
 translated simply as 'Organisation'.

The resulting data base is unusable by external tools like Latex, hence
 'causes non-serious data loss'.

I include a bibtex export for a 'book', where I used Tellico's description
as content for the various fields.

 @book{Bibtex-schluessel,
   title = {Titel},
   author = {Autor},
   booktitle = {Buch-Titel},

This bug is solved now, but for those who already did purge, the only

texlive-base and texlive-base-bin, but that might not be sufficient)

FYI, only one of my Debian system (out of 6 machines) seems
to be bitten #420390

but others look fine.

Thanks for your great work of transition from teTeX to TeXLive.

if [ -f $cfgfile.preinst-deleted ]; then
  echo Preserving removal of $cfgfile.
  mv $cfgfile $cfgfile.dpkg-new
  rm $cfgfile.preinst-deleted
fi

change it to
if [ -f $cfgfile.preinst-deleted ]; then
echo It looks like $cfgfile has been removed.
echo If you didn't do this it could be bug #420390.
echo If you had tetex-base 3.0.dfsg.3-5 installed and purged it,
  echo this is the case.
echo Please reinstatiate $cfgfile from $cfgfile.new
  echo Preserving removal of $cfgfile.
  mv $cfgfile $cfgfile.dpkg-new
  rm $cfgfile.preinst-deleted
fi

(Wording could be changed).

Would this be a good option?

Best wishes

Norbert

CRAIL (n. mineral)
Crail is a common kind of rock or gravel found widely across the
British Isles. Each individual stone (due to an as yet undiscovered
gravitational property) is charged with 'negative buoyancy'. This
means that no matter how much crail you remove from the garden, more
of it will rise to the surface. Crail is much employed by the Royal
Navy for making the paperweights and ashtrays used inside submarines.

This apparently occurs because dh_installtex of tex-common 1.7
already makes a similar symlink. In /usr/bin/dh_installtex:

 Bformat:no_links:
Usually, for every format that is specified in a configuration file in
 /etc/texmf/fmt.d/, dh_installtex will create a symlink
/usr/bin/Iformat that points to the corresponding engine. For
example, /usr/bin/latex would be created as a symlink to pdftex.

The flavor Bformat:no_links inhibits this. If a link already
exists, dh_installtex will skip this format with an informational
message, even if this option is not given.

In debian/jadetex/etc/texmf/fmt.d/40jadetex.cnf:

 jadetex etexlanguage.datjadetex.ini
 pdfjadetexetexlanguage.datpdfjadetex.ini

In tex-common/changelog.gz:

 tex-common (1.1) experimental; urgency=low
...
   * let dh_installtex automatically create links for formats installed
and add flavor to disable this behaviour.
...
  -- Norbert Preining [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon, 26 Feb 2007 18:31:32 +0100

The jadetex 3.13-7.1 package is from 2006-10-17, so it doesn't
include any code to specifically handle this change.

If the documentation of dh_installtex were correct, I think
the best solution would be to move the ln -s calls before
the dh_installtex call, as then jadetex would probably build
correctly with both old and new versions of tex-common.
However, this does not actually work:

 ln -s etex debian/jadetex/usr/bin/jadetex
 ln -s pdfetex debian/jadetex/usr/bin/pdfjadetex
 dh_installtex --priority=40 \
   format=jadetex,etex,language.dat,jadetex.ini\
   format=pdfjadetex,etex,language.dat,pdfjadetex.ini
ln: creating symbolic link `debian/jadetex/usr/bin/jadetex' to `etex': File
 exists
dh_installtex: command returned error code 256
 make: *** [binary-indep] Error 1

Instead, adding --flavor=format:no_links to the dh_installtex
call seems to work, but I don't know if it breaks compatibility
with earlier versions of tex-common. Alternatively, you might
use ln -sf or test -h.

Would this be a good option?

That sounds reasonable, except that it might be better to use debconf
for this. Moreover, for the really mandatory files, like
pdftexconfig.tex and modes.mf, we should not just leave it to the user
and continue. Instead we should either forcibly recreate the file and
notify the user, or stop right here with a decent debconf error message.

To reinstall texlive I had to do the following: (unfortunately some
 packages are no longer available!)

(Missing packages should be a temporary problem)

 dpkg -i --force-confmiss

And that, together with removing jadetex, solved your problems, although
the message from color.sty (No driver specified), correct?

But I think this was just stupid; in the long run we want to build it

Will you do that today?

What about NOT doing a preserving delete for *any* file there, and add

Or re-instantiate all config files, ie do not delete any but
echo/debconf a warning to re-delete it.

The former would have a trivial and quick implementation.

The later -- especially with debconf -- needs quite some work ...

Bug#425863: [Aaron M. Ucko] Bug#425863: FTBFS: teckit/libtool yields multiple definition errors

2007-05-25 Thread Frank Küster
Hi Jonathan,

the attached mail is a bug report we received for our Debian packages,
the TECkit library didn't build any more on 64bit architectures. It was
triggered because we configured texlive with --enable-shared to build
libkpathsea.so.4.0.0. The easy solution was to use
--enable-shared=default, so that it is ineffective in the directories
for other libs, like TECkit. But there's also a patch in the report
which allows to compile with --enable-shared in TECkit. I'm not sure
it's useful for you, but just in case, here is it.

(Is it okay to contact you directly, or should we send xetex-related
things to the mailing list? Is that possible without subscribing?)

Regards, Frank

Justification: no longer builds from source

The version of libtool in .../libs/teckit is buggy (rant about libtool
in general elided ;-). Specifically, it directs g++ to link in
certain system objects that the compiler would normally supply itself,
but neglects to tell the compiler not to introduce its own instances
of the same objects. As a result, texlive-bin FTBFS on amd64 (and
presumably other architectures as well):

The attached patch addresses this by supplying -nostdlib per the
current /usr/share/aclocal/libtool.m4 (which BTW contains many other
changes, none of which appear to be necessary at the moment); could
you please apply it ASAP (particularly given that most of texlive now
specifically depends on texlive-bin 2007-8)?

Thanks!

Bug#425390: ok, so 2.0 is not in testing yet

2007-05-25 Thread Igor Belyi

I've can reproducibly revert to 1.5 but all attempts to then follow the steps
to install 2.0 through up a popup
saying something to the effect that another version of icedove is running, kill
it or restart your system.
There's nothing to kill, a new x zsession doesn't work, a reboot doesn't work.
I can find no .pid file lurking.

It doesn't check PID it just checks for the presence of
.mozilla-thunderbird/default/lock sym. link. Remove it and restart
the icedove. I have no idea why they would create a link with PID info and not
even check if it's a stale one due to
the process not being there anymore...

In this case,

Package: spampd
Version: 2.30-17
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When apt-get tried to start the daemon, it failed with an error
indicating a missing } or ].

I found an obvious missing } in a function, added it, but then it
complained that $homedir was global but had to be an a package
namespace. Adding a my $homdir line where the other neighbor variables
are declared silenced that error but replaced it with further errors.

(It appears $homedir needs to be a ref to a string rather than a
string...)

I forced a download to -16 but manually downloading the deb and invoking
dkpg --install on it. That version works.

I got the bug too.

I do not know if the bug is in the package or in icedove, but purge / install

Bug#426023: poppler: Missing Conflicts/Replaces: to old library names

2007-05-25 Thread Martin Pitt
Package: poppler
Version: 0.5.4-4
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

Hi poppler developers!

Recently, the library names were renamed like libpoppler1-glib -
libpoppler-glib1. However, the new packages do not
Conflicts:/Replaces: the old names and they cannot be installed side
by side. This will create a mess on upgrades.

Attached is the patch we use in Ubuntu. Ubuntu also had to do this for
the qt4 package; This is not actually necessary for Debian (since the
qt4 bindings weren't built in Debian before), but it would be great if
you could add them nevertheless, so that Ubuntu can avoid patching the
package just to add this C/R.

Thank you!

Martin

Bug#407575: #407575: playground does basically nothing

2007-05-25 Thread Luca Bruno
Hi,
I can observe the same behaviour here; playground doesn't execute any
action, even if it reacts to mouseover-focus, right-click and so on.

I've attached a strace log of playground to this mail. It basically
continues polling something (I really dunno what) and get -1 EAGAIN
(Resource temporarily unavailable) answers. This happens on any
input/events.

Moreover, running playground from command line, I get a long line which

Package: scim-m17n
Severity: serious
Version: 0.1.3-2
Justification: policy violation

hi,

Lucas has rebuild the archive on i386 and your package Failed to Build
from Source with the following error:

  # Clean up unnecessary static libraries for modules
  rm debian/tmp/usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/*/*.la
rm: cannot remove `debian/tmp/usr/lib/scim-1.0/1.4.0/*/*.la': No such file
  or directory

i think this is related to the new $(moduledir) change in scim 1.4.6-1, as
reported to several other scim packages (#422956 for example).

the full log can be found here:

 scim-m17n (0.1.3-3) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Adapt to the $(moduledir) change in scim 1.4.6. (Closes: #424014)
 - Bump build dependency to scim (= 1.4.6-1).
 - Drop 10scim-plugin-module-install-dir dpatch.
 - Don't hardcode scim binary version in debian/install and debian/rules
anymore, so that binary NMU for an scim module ABI change is possible.
   * Add dependency on scim. All IM module packages should depend on scim so
that users only need to install the module package.
   * Update various upstream information, such as website URL, released tarball
location, as well as the debian/watch file.
   * Update FSF mailing address.
   * Upgrade to policy version 3.7.2.2, no actual changes needed.

Bug#425993: jadetex: fails to configure

2007-05-25 Thread Hilmar Preusse
On 25.05.07 Frank Küster ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) wrote:
 Hilmar Preusse [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Hi,

Package fails to configure with TeX Live 2007 installed.
fmtutil.log is attached. Relevant error message:

  (/usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/tools/longtable.sty)
  (/usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/graphics/color.sty

! Package color Error: No driver specified.

I guess that's an other incarnation of the conffile removal after
 purging tetex-base, does /etc/texmf/tex/latex/config/color.cfg exist?

 In this case,

 dpkg -i --force-confmiss
 /var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-base-bin_2007-7_i386.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-base_2007-6_all.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-latex-base_2007-6_all.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-latex-extra_2007-3_all.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-pictures_2007-6_all.deb

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ $ ll /etc/texmf/tex/latex/config/color.cfg
ls: /etc/texmf/tex/latex/config/color.cfg: No such file or directory

I did the dpkg -i --force-confmiss with texlive-base-bin_2007-9 and
texlive-base_2007-7. However the problem was not solved. I had a look
into the fmtutil log and found jadetex making problems. Hence I
decided to purge. After that texlive-base-bin and texlive-base could
be installed with --force-confmiss and all other TeX-Live packages
configured fine. JadeTeX however still was not installable, hence the
bug.

I did now an

dpkg -i --force-confmiss
/var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-latex-base_2007-7_all.deb
/var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-latex-extra_2007-3_all.deb
/var/cache/apt/archives/texlive-pictures_2007-7_all.deb

The color.cfg file does exist now and jadetex installs fine. The
re-created files:

/etc/texmf/tex/latex/config/color.cfg /etc/texmf/tex/latex/config/graphics.cfg
/etc/texmf/tex/latex/config/hyperref.cfg

Sorry for filing the bug against the wrong package! And yes: I purged
tetex-base,bin,extra recently.

I'm also puzzled by this, and wouldn't have recognized the cause at
first glance - if it wasn't for the multitude of purging-bugs that we
had these last days.

Sorry for filing the bug against the wrong package! And yes: I purged
 tetex-base,bin,extra recently.

Which makes perfectly sense, normally...

No problem, have a good time!

Boosters: Could this be your bug that I have to use g++ 4.1 ?

this is because upstream does not trust in compilers ABI stability even
across the same producer (they do not cover it in the test suite).

anyway i never thought of making this an explicit dependency, as it
should. indeed currently it is possible to use the boost libraries with
a compiler different from the one used to build them.

dirk, are you working at autoconf tests to guess boost linking params?

cheers

Bug#425871: tomcat5.5-admin: admin servlet fails to start; throws an Allocate exception

2007-05-25 Thread Marcus Better
are you able to try the version in sid (5.5.20-5), just to be sure?

I would, if I could convince aptitude not to upgrade so many packages.

 aptitude -s -t unstable install tomcat5.5-admin

 results in

 Upgrade the following packages:
 binutils [2.17-3 (stable, testing, now) - 2.17cvs20070426-7
 (unstable)] libc6-dev [2.3.6.ds1-13 (stable, testing, now) - 2.5-9
 (unstable)] libc6-i386 [2.3.6.ds1-13 (stable, testing, now) - 2.5-9
(unstable)] locales [2.3.6.ds1-13 (stable, testing, now) - 2.5-9
(unstable)] tzdata [2007b-1 (stable, now) - 2007f-3 (unstable, testing)]

I see. That's jsvc... Never mind, I think you have hit bug #402229. Please
check that.

If that doesn't help, try disabling the security manager
in /etc/default/tomcat5.5.

I applied the mod to /etc/tomcat5.5/policy.d/50user.policy as indicated
in the bug report there, and admin now works.

Thanks!

Luigi -- looks like configure needs some help. Are you still

Debian?

Almost. I switched to Ubuntu a few months ago when I got a new laptop.

Do you have our Boost 1.34 installed?

Not yet. The Boost 1.34 release was exceptionally bad timing for us,
since we were finalizing release 0.8.0 when it was made. Instead of
installing 1.34 and restarting the tests (which I did suspect would
fail---see http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/159278)
I chose not to further delay 0.8.0. In fact, the release notes suggest
to use 1.33.1 on Linux systems. If this makes things difficult for you,
I'll try and make a 0.8.1 release to add Boost 1.34 compatibility; but
at this point 0.8.0 is frozen.

Later,
Luigi

Sure, I use Ubuntu too on several machines at work. I built my boost 1.34
there as I wanted to play with something from the boost sandbox...

I think we simply need to work the configure script. From my casual glance
at it, boost doesn't seem to have change file locations so I am confused as
to what could have caused this to break.

[ Oh, and while I have you here: we have a really weird build bug with
QL-Swig on a few more obscure arches. I didn't bug you with that as it build
on all other version -- but see how 0.4.0 failed on a view. From the errors I
see on the failed attempts, it looks to me as if gcc et al are to
blame. We'll see. Source URLs are
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=419742 and
http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?pkg=quantlib-swig ]

Any thought on configure.ac for boost though ?

the file /usr/lib/R/bin/INSTALL is empty on architecture hppa which
breaks the build process of other software, e.g. shogun.

Cheers,

Works here without problems, could you attach a full build log? What
 architecture are you building on?

Here's the full build log, on i386.

| |
| | And I see the same with the 0.8.0 (pre-)release snapshot of May 25.
| |
| | Luigi -- looks like configure needs some help. Are you still
| | developing on
| | Debian?
| |
| | Almost. I switched to Ubuntu a few months ago when I got a new laptop.
|
| Sure, I use Ubuntu too on several machines at work. I built my boost 1.34
| there as I wanted to play with something from the boost sandbox...
|
| |Do you have our Boost 1.34 installed?
| |
| | Not yet. The Boost 1.34 release was exceptionally bad timing for us,
| | since we were finalizing release 0.8.0 when it was made. Instead of
| | installing 1.34 and restarting the tests (which I did suspect would
| | fail---see http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/159278)
| | I chose not to further delay 0.8.0. In fact, the release notes suggest
| | to use 1.33.1 on Linux systems. If this makes things difficult for you,
| | I'll try and make a 0.8.1 release to add Boost 1.34 compatibility; but
| | at this point 0.8.0 is frozen.

It looks like I need that -- as Boost 1.34 is now in Debian unstable,
QuantLib 0.4.0 and 0.8.0 do no longer build. So to keep QuantLib in
unstable, we need to make it build with Boost 1.34.

What is the best way to do that?

As a very cheap and ugly alternative, I could turn Boost tests off. As I'd
have to alter the package setup, I could introduce some silly bugs at that end.
But if that is easier that redoing QL for Boost, I could go that way.

Let me know.

Regards, Dirk

|
|
