For instance, epiphany's configure script just gets /usr/include/xulrunner from a pkgconfig file and adds the component to it. Anyways, that's just another broken way to do it. His comment in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=419742;msg=30 was that dropping the mips* special-casing fixed /this/ failure, and got him on to the next failure. The next failure after that is an incompatibility between current ruby1.8-dev and current libc6-dev (nothing in quantlib-swig's source refers to eaccess() directly); so while dropping the special-casing in your package won't be enough to get it to build on mips*, you can upload it with confidence that the remaining bug is Not Your Problem. :) > On to Brown Bag mode and preparing a fresh ql-swig. Bug#419742: quantlib-swig: FTBFS on mips/mipsel due to relocation error

I really want glibc to migrate so I'm going to be mad at myself here. Sorry. | I'm reassigning this bug back to quantlib-swig, because this *is* the | package with the RC bug; as Thiemo noted, the build failure happens as a | consequence of the special-case use of -O0 on mips* in the package's build | rules. You should have received a file called "Artistic", which | specifies the terms under which this package may be distributed and | modified. | The Artistic License is taken from the Perl 5.005_03 | distribution, so some of the text is specific to Perl and does not | apply to ColdSync. I hope to address this in a future release. | | Debian users can find the Artistic License at | /usr/share/common-licenses/Artistic. | | -- Since the program is released under the terms of the GNU GPL (v2 or later), and since the (original) Artistic License is GPL-incompatible, it seems that this linking or inclusion forms an undistributable package. AFAICT, there are three possible ways to fix this issue, in descending order of desirability. (A) ColdSync copyright holder should be contacted and asked to dual-license his code under the Artistic License and the GNU GPL v2, just like Perl copyright holders do[2]. (B) ColdSync code used in GPSBabel should be substituted with a GPL-compatible replacement. (C) GPSBabel copyright holder should add a license exception to give permission to link GPSBabel with ColdSync code; this additional permission should be drafted along the lines of the template[3] suggested by the FSF. Hi, I have fixed the bug you documented in debian/copyright and will be closing your report. The author of gpsbabel does not believe there is an issue here, and your bug report did not document why you believe the coldsync license to be incompatible with the GPL. I will not attempt to guess as to why you believe this to be the case. You are welcome to send supporting information later, and reopen it at that time. -- John -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? clone 427032 -1 retitle -1 config.ps is missing reassign -1 texlive-base-bin severity -1 important thanks Frank Küster <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > To make the postinst scripts work again, we have forcibly resurrected > modes.mf and pdftexconfig.tex. My other mail about "the rest" has not yet arrived, therefore I'm answering to this one. texdoctk.dat was a false positive: Although I personally had one in /etc/texmf, it's in TEXMFDIST by default, and that is correct. config.ps is in tl-base-bin, therefore I'm cloning and reassigning, and the severity is important because dvips basically works without it. The next release of tex-common will contain a copy of the file in /usr/share/tex-common and a note in NEWS.Debian. config.ps is not strictly necessary, dvips runs without it. The other three files are also strictly necessary for the respective components (texdoctk, color.sty, graphic{s,x}.sty). I suggest that we resurrect all four, although config.ps could be debated. Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- Package: icedove Version: 2.0.0.0-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hi, I've just upgraded to 2.0.0.0-3. Now, I can't send or receive emails anymore. On start-up icedove alerts "Icedove can't connect securely to imap.xxx.xxx because the SSL protocol has been disabled" I've configured the server to use TLS if available, though, not SSL. When trying to write an email I get a message "An error occured while creating a message compose window. Please try again." I've tried again a couple of times without success. Since an email client that can't send or receive emails is completely useless, I've put severity to grave. Bug#425479: marked as done (Symlinks still aren't fixed)
Your message dated Fri, 01 Jun 2007 13:17:08 + with message-id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and subject line Bug#425479: fixed in icedove 2.0.0.0-4 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- Package: icedove Version: 2.0.0.0-3 Severity: serious The upgrade 1.5 -> 2.0 still doesn't convert the directories in /usr/lib/icedove to symlinks correctly. The chrome directory is converted, but defaults and greprefs are not; the symptom is no longer a segfault, but the icedove window comes up empty. In the preinst we have: if test -d /usr/lib/icedove/defaults; then if test ! -d /usr/share/icedove/defaults; then mkdir -p /usr/share/icedove/ cp -r /usr/lib/icedove/defaults /usr/share/icedove/defaults else rm -rf /usr/lib/icedove/defaults fi fi So that doesn't actually remove the old directory if the /usr/share equivalent did not already exist. (This explains why chrome is converted, because 1.5 did contain a /usr/share/chrome directory.) I imagine you want to move the rm out of the else, or change the cp to mv. --- System information. --- Architecture: amd64 Kernel: Linux 2.6.21 Debian Release: lenny/sid 990 unstablewww.debian-multimedia.org 990 unstableftp.ie.debian.org 990 unstableftp.heanet.ie 990 unstableftp-uxsup.csx.cam.ac.uk 1 experimentalftp.ie.debian.org 1 experimentalftp-uxsup.csx.cam.ac.uk --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ==-+- fontconfig | 2.4.2-1.2 psmisc | 22.5-1 debianutils (>= 1.16) | 2.18.2 libatk1.0-0(>= 1.13.2) | 1.18.0-2 libc6 (>= 2.5-5) | 2.5-8 libcairo2 (>= 1.4.0) | 1.4.6-1 libfontconfig1 (>= 2.4.0) | 2.4.2-1.2 libfreetype6 (>= 2.2) | 2.2.1-5 libgcc1(>= 1:4.2-20070516) | 1:4.2-20070516-1 libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.12.9) | 2.12.12-1 libgtk2.0-0(>= 2.10.3) | 2.10.12-2 libjpeg62 | 6b-13 libnspr4-0d (>= 1.8.0.10) | 4.6.6-3 libnss3-0d (>= 1.8.0.10) | 3.11.5-3+b1 libpango1.0-0 (>= 1.16.4) | 1.16.4-1 libpng12-0 (>= 1.2.13-4) | 1.2.15~beta5-2 libstdc++6 (>= 4.2-20070516) | 4.2-20070516-1 libx11-6 | 2:1.1.1-1 libxcursor1 (>> 1.1.2) | 1:1.1.8-2 libxext6 | 1:1.0.3-2 libxfixes3(>= 1:4.0.1) | 1:4.0.3-2 libxft2 (>> 2.1.1) | 2.1.12-2 libxi6 | 2:1.1.0-2 libxinerama1 | 1:1.0.2-1 libxrandr2(>= 2:1.2.0) | 2:1.2.1-1 libxrender1| 1:0.9.2-1 libxt6 | 1:1.0.5-3 zlib1g(>= 1:1.2.1) | 1:1.2.3-15 -- Martin Orr signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: icedove Source-Version: 2.0.0.0-4 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of icedove, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: icedove-dbg_2.0.0.0-4_amd64.deb to pool/main/i/icedove/icedove-dbg_2.0.0.0-4_amd64.deb icedove-dev_2.0.0.0-4_amd64.deb to pool/main/i/icedove/icedove-dev_2.0.0.0-4_amd64.deb icedove-gnome-support_2.0.0.0-4_amd64.deb to pool/main/i/icedove/icedove-gnome-support_2.0.0.0-4_amd64.deb icedove_2.0.0.0-4.diff.gz to pool/main/i/icedove/icedove_2.0.0.0-4.diff.gz icedove_2.0.0.0-4.dsc to pool/main/i/icedove/icedove_2.0.0.0-4.dsc icedove_2.0.0.0-4_amd64.deb to pool/main/i/icedove/icedove_2.0.0.0-4_amd64.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Bug#425438: marked as done (SSL disabled ???)
Your message dated Fri, 01 Jun 2007 13:17:08 + with message-id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and subject line Bug#425438: fixed in icedove 2.0.0.0-4 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- Package: icedove Version: 2.0.0.0-3 Severity: important Hello, I've just upgraded icedove to the most recent version. I had initially some trouble as the newer icedove didn't seem to recognise my old setup. However, after a while, it did, and then I got the following message: Icedove cannot connect securely to ... because the SSL protocol has been disabled Does that mean that the SSL support was dropped from icedove ? If that is the case, a debian/NEWS file would be much welcome to explain the reasons... Meanwhile, I simply can't read my mail, as if I downgrade to the previous version, it segfaults (hence the important priority). If there is any information I could provide, please ask. I get a popup error message that says "An error occurred while creating a message compose window. Please try again." when attempting to do any of the above tasks. Second, the default text color was set to the same color as the background color so no text would appear in the preview window. I changed the text color to black in preferences and the text now appears in the preview pane. Third, when I open a message the header and message do not appear in the new window. I am also experiencing the 425438 bug. I cannot connect to gmail. The error message window says ssl has been disabled. All of this occurred after running apt-get upgrade last night (5-21-2007). Your message dated Fri, 01 Jun 2007 12:32:02 + with message-id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and subject line Bug#426960: fixed in bitstormlite 0.2k-2 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- Package: bitstormlite Version: 0.2k-1 Severity: serious Justification: license incompatibility The bitstormlite package currently in archive, 0.2k-1, links to libcurl4-openssl, and therefore indirectly links to libssl. Since bitstormlite is licensed under GPL with no exceptions, I believe there is an license incompatibility and the binary package is undistributable as is. Maybe just building depend on libcurl4-gnutls-dev and therefore linking to libcurl4-gnutls will solve the problem, but I didn't test. In any case, libcurl3-dev is no longer a real package and shouldn't be used as build dependency. This is the first time I report a bug about licensing issue, and I am not sure I am understanding everything correctly. Therefore I am cc:ing debian-legal list for confirmation. Sorry for previous question, but I needed to ask... > The only module in the package which got build was ov51x-jpeg, there > wasn't any ov51x_jpeg. Naming with - or _ should not be an issue, they are the same You should check wether the module has been built and installed for the good kernel version you are using, some thing like comparing: dpkg -L ov51x-module-$yourversion and uname -r Romain

Would you please repeat that test with a small change to tests/chgrp/no-x: In place of this line, chgrp -R $g2 d >/dev/null 2>out && fail=1 use this: strace -o /tmp/chgrp-log chgrp -R $g2 d >/dev/null 2>out && fail=1 and then /tmp/chgrp-log should give us a clue about why that chgrp invocation is succeeding when it shouldn't. Bug#423298: mercury: should this package be orphaned?
I'd like to adopt the mercury (and mercury-docs) packages, unless someone more qualified wishes to do it. I've been using Mercury on Debian (i386 and amd64) for some years now, and want this easily available to other Debian users. I am not a Mercury developer, but the feedback I've had from the devs is "It's fine by us" if I adopt the package. I've also had some feedback from the previous maintainer. Some years ago, I contributed to the MacOSX (powerpc) port of Mercury, so I have some knowledge of the build system. I would not be able to make any significant changes to the code, but could pass relevant bug reports back upstream. I am also not a Debian Developer, so I will be seeking a sponsor at some point to do package uploads. My plan would be to package numbered releases of Mercury only (currently 0.13.1) which would deal with bug #281369 and this bug, and to have Mercury depend on an appropriate version of gcc (Mercury is very fussy about gcc version) which would deal with bugs #297217 and #381813. Note that this is very early in the process - I have not yet constructed any packages (there's a learning curve there), but thought I'd get this out early so as to avoid any risk of duplication of effort - if someone else is looking at doing this, please let me know! Bug#427005: python-gmpy: orig.tar.gz does not have a license text
Package: python-gmpy Version: 1.01-1 Severity: grave Hi! The orig.tar.gz does not have any license text. Please ask upstream to include a copy of COPYING.LIB and repackage the tarball to include one in the meantime. Right now the orig.tar.gz is not redistributable, so this should not even have passed source NEW.
