Bug#430832: libc6-i386: all 32 bit programs crash

It works correctly here, so it is definitely a problem related to your
configuration.

Could you try to execute the following binaries and send me the output?
/emul/ia32-linux/lib/ld-linux.so.2
/emul/ia32-linux/lib/libc.so.6
/lib32/ld-linux.so.2
/lib32/libc.so.6

Also I have noticed that you have built your kernel manually, have you
enabled 32-bit emulation (CONFIG_IA32_EMULATION) ?

Bye,
Aurelien

Bug#431312: FTBFS (alpha): static declaration of 'strtod' follows non-static declaration

Yes, and on sparc

I'd really like to look into this, it's the configure script not
correctly testing availability of strtod() with the diet libc anymore on
those arches, maybe connected to changes in the toolchain.

But neither the one alpha project machine, escher.d.o, nor the one sparc
project machine, vore.d.o, is available.

Bugzila reports show fiddling with the clocksource affecting HDD

What do you think about lowering the severity[1] and mark 430707 as

I retract my previous comment. The test case is fine. There must be a

I understand that you reopened this bug because it is still found in the
current kernel-patch-debianlogo (1.5), but could you please explain why you
raised it's severity from important to grave? Since the package is still
usable with older kernels, I think severity important is more appropriate.

Thanks,

Hi,

Pypy requires a significant amount of memory to build (>1GB).
Furthermore, s390 is not supported by upstream.

I'm closing this bug.

Anyway, a process which needs this amount of RAM is killed with SIGTERM
because the linux kernel allows massive amounts of overcommited memory
and the OOM killer terminates it then.
The shown error shows that it allocates memory but never uses them and
hits the boundary of the process memory, which is almost 2GiB on s390.

Arguably not a release-critical one, given that it doesn't seem to have
ever built on those architectures.

Undoubtedly, APT should be able to cope better with this situation.
It only arises though if you add way more APT repositories than are
needed, so I suggest you clean up sources.list instead.

This is a well-known issue which has been reported several times
before.

Bug#430081: quilt: FTBFS

2007-07-02 Thread Gerard Lledó

Hi,

It fails to build for me too, I've tried to build the package in a
pbuilder environment, and it fails in make check. Apparently, upstream
is giving even more errors (5 instead of just 3). It seems that the
mantainer tried to fix the checks with patches, but not all of them
are fixed.

Regards,
Gerard.

Bug#429023: libpam-unix2: segmentation fault in pam_unix2.so

2007-07-02 Thread Ludo

I can confirm this bug - it happened to me after an upgrade a few days ago too.
I got "Module is unknown" messages when typing a username into the
login prompt (it didn't even prompt me for a password).
Had to boot into single mode, change every occurence of "pam_unix2.so"
and "blowfish" into "pam_unix.so" and "md5", respectively, in
/etc/pam.d/*, then set new passwords for the users in order to replace
the blowfish hashes by md5 hashes in /etc/shadow.

I thought I had done that in debian/control, but it looks like
dpkg-source -b lost the information when generating the .dsc file. Is it
ok to manually change that file and upload again, or am I missing
something obvious ?

Bug#431302: iscsitarget: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on iscsitarget-module

2007-07-02 Thread Philipp Hug
Luk,

This is not quite true, iscsitarget-module is provided by the package built
from iscsitarget-source.
Daniel Baumann will add those to linux-modules-extra-2.6 soon, so we'll have
prebuilt packages soon.

Anyway: I'll change the Depends to Recommends to make it poossible to install
it without the "debian kernel module package".

Bug#431054: aptitude doesn't respond to keyboard after installing/upgrading a package

If you change your language to C, do you still get this crash?
Run "LANG=C LC_ALL=C aptitude" to check.

pypy is supported on all 32bit linux plattform according to the

I just run the testsuite, it looks good.

Compiling them is blocked by #431424. If I hack in local malloc support,
it seems to work. I did not run the testsuite with pypy-c yet.

You should switch to myspell-tools. (If you find another way to

preferred but I didn't copy the contrib/ perl scripts over to the

I'm not even sure it affects users at all, unless they rebuild the

Bug#431461: Please keep debreaper out of testing

2007-07-02 Thread Josselin Mouette
Package: debreaper
Severity: serious

It turns out that debreaper reports from testing systems are completely
useless. Let's just keep debreaper only in unstable.

If a RM reads this, please remove debreaper from testing as well.

This is no fix. Packages build against the old will not work with new
libs.

Err, if the ABI isn't stable, bumping the shlibs won't help, you need to
change the package name.

Bug#429023: confirming

thanks

I was planning on looking at this again after the base PAM libraries are
upgraded sometime during the lenny development cycle - looks like
libpam-unix2 needs functions in a newer version of libpam than 0.79.

If someone really needs this working in unstable in the interim and
wants to provide a patch, I'd be happy to apply it and upload.
Unfortunately I don't have time in the super-immediate future to work
on temporary code for this myself.

You should drop the build-dep on libkpathsea4-dev and only keep
libkpathsea-dev. I agree that sbuild's build-deps parsing is poor, but
that's live (and that's how it works on the debian buildds).

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

Have you had time to investigate this issue further? Do you still have the
problem with the current version from unstable?
If you still have problem, you can disable hal from polling your cd-drive with

hal-disable-polling --disable /dev/scd0

and restarting hal.

Given this workaround, I'm downgrading the severity to normal. It's also still
uncertain, that HAL is the actual culprit and not the kernel or the firmware of
your drive.

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#431302: iscsitarget: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on iscsitarget-module

2007-07-02 Thread Frederik Schueler
Hi Luk, Philipp,

IMHO this is not a bug at all.

The userland tools do not work at all without the kernel module, thus
the dependency is mandatory.
changing the Depends: to a Recommends: would introduce a real bug.

Look at the nvidia-glx package, it handles this the same way.

Maybe we should just add

Please see the iscsitarget-source package for building the kernel module
required by this package. This will provide iscsitarget-module.

o the package description and close the bug with this.

Bug#425897: libfilesys-diskspace-perl: FTBFS: Test failure

2007-07-02 Thread Dario Minnucci
Hi,

I could buid this lib using both pbuilder and debuild.

While debuild passed all tests successfully and skipped 2 tests,
pbuilder passed all tests successfully and skipped all 4 tests.

This may have something to do with pbuilder chroot, but both methods
builds the library successfully.

Bug#430842: stores run-time data in /etc

2007-07-02 Thread Mário Meyer
I've been looking into it.. The big problem here seems to be that the
"no-ip -C" that asks questions and generates the binary config file
actually talks to no-ip's server during the configuration and shows the
domains associated with your user account.

I can think of a few ways for doing this:

- Re-invent the wheel, reverse engineer noip2.c code to see how it
stores data in no-ip.conf and how it interact's with the server to
replicate it's behavior using debconf

- Make some sort of more "static" debconf that would receive domains
typed by the user and compare it with the domains that "no-ip -C" reads
from the webserver, selecting those who match.

- Creating some sort of patch for upstream or separate application
allowing to command-line configure the daemon. Maybe we could even use
noip2.c code for making a command-line configure utility facilitating
this.

Any thoughts? Ideas?
