Bug#427795: Duplicating bug.

2007-09-07 Thread Raúl Sánchez Siles
Hello:

In this case I think we could resolve this bug marking as a duplicate of
#417416 which is closed and hence this will be considered close.

Thanks

Bug#441268: addition

2007-09-07 Thread Andreas von Heydwolff
May have to do with spell checking: Things went smoother after switching off
Spell-as-you-type, nevertheless this behavior is new and and I used SAYT
before on a regular basis.

karrigell-demo's postinst tried to chown a non-existing
file/directory. For the proper working of the demo application it
seems to be enough to chown
/usr/share/karrigell/webapps/demo/records.skl.

Find attached a patch that implements this change.

Bug#441269: Trademark violation: Energy Star logo

2007-09-07 Thread Florian Weimer
Package: kdebase-data
Severity: serious

The file /usr/share/apps/kcontrol/pics/energybig.png contains the
Energy Star logo. I don't think this kind of use is permitted under
EPA's trademark guidelines.

kcontrol display the logo in the Display section; I'm not sure if this
comes from the same file, or if it's directly compiled into some
binary. In the latter case, this needs to be patched as well.

Bug#441268: icedove eats almost all CPU cycles

2007-09-07 Thread Andreas von Heydwolff
Package: icedove
Version: 1.5.0.12.dfsg1-0etch1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Icedove accesses IAMP folders remotely over an excellent WAN connection inside
the same provider's network (from home to office) with an SSL connection. It
reads the folders, downloads messages. So far so good. Even started as "icedove
-safe-mode", when I open a draft of some 20kb the window opens slowly and then
CPU usage goes up to 89 to 98% and even switching from the To: field to the
subject line takes ages (a minute or longer). Sometimes icedove crashed during
my various attempts to write the email. Even switching off Spell-as-you-type
took ten seconds or so. I will have to use kmail for the time being.

Justification: Policy 10.7.2

All the config files should be in /etc/tomcat5.5. The current scheme
where some files are in /etc/tomcat5.5 and some are in
/var/lib/tomcat5.5/conf with symlinks to the ones in /etc/tomcat5.5 is
just confusing. I've included a patch which should move the conf
directory to /etc/tomcat5.5 and hopefully migrate users files. It has
been tested, but not heavily.

Why does tomcat5.5 depend on ecj-bootstrap? I want to use
Sun JVM with tomcat5.5, and this dependency installs GCJ/GIJ
which I don't need/want to be installed on this system.

According to bug 384062 this dependency was introduced
because Tomcat could not find a JSP compiler. Why not just
include jasper-compiler-jdt.jar into the package?

Hello,

It seems that simply rebuilding libcommoncpp2 package helps.
I think we should request binary-only upload to solve this.

This problem makes clamfs (and probably other packages that depends on
libcommoncpp2) FTBFS (see #441163).

Cheers,

Bug#437020: apt-listbugs fails with "W: Mandatory parameter 'bug' missing in call to Debbugs::Status::get_bug_status"

2007-09-07 Thread Kevin Brown

The problem is reoccurring, but it seems it takes a specific
combination of packages to make it happen. I have no idea what's
special about that combination, but it causes the server to choke with
that error.

I can currently reproduce this with the following command:

/usr/sbin/apt-listbugs list openoffice.org-core openoffice.org-officebean

This bug clearly should be reopened.

Ok, sorry for this. I first thought you are no DD because of
your email address and because of that thought you need a
sponsor and that way it will take longer to get an update.
Sorry again, will wait longer next time.
Kind regards

I understand that this is a security fix, but I don't think everyone
use sqlite_decode_binary() so it isn't that big security threat. I mean,
I would have appreciated if you give me some hours before the NMU. :-|

I don't see a nvidia-kernel-2.6.22-2-k7 module in the list above. Could
it be that you just don't have a module built for this kernel ?

Package: lmms
Version: 0.2.1-1

Your package fails to build with GCC 4.2. Version 4.2 has not been
released yet but I'm building with a snapshot in order to find errors
and give people an advance warning. The bug below is in your package
and not because I'm using a snapshot of the compiler so please take a
look at it. The -floop-optimize2 option has been removed in 4.2. You
can reproduce this with the gcc-snapshot package from unstable or
gcc-4.2 from experimental.

Bug#439495: maint-guide: FTBFS: debiandoc2latexps: ERROR: maint-guide.ko.dvi could not be generated properly

2007-09-07 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi,

You know we are going through transition with tex -> texlive.

You may file important or serious bug on debiandoc-sgml since this issue
should be fixed there (instead of disabling pdf build for Korean which
is easy but with no real benefit.)

So I keep this bug as my reminder while working on real issues.

So if this becomes really RC, let's disable PDF building for Korean then.

Hi,
A CVE was published for sqlite2:
CVE-2007-1888[0]:
Buffer overflow in the sqlite_decode_binary function in src/encode.c in SQLite
2, as used by PHP 4.x through 5.x and other applications, allows
context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code via an empty value of the
in parameter. NOTE: some PHP installations use a bundled version of sqlite
without this vulnerability. The SQLite developer has argued that this issue
could be due to a misuse of the sqlite_decode_binary() API.

I already a a fixed package ready so I am going to 0-day NMU this package to fix
this.
Kind regards
Nico

This bug was caused by the split of libpurple from pidgin. The
maintainer intended pidgin-dev to depend on libpurple-dev but it was
overlooked.

Seems like libcommoncpp2 needs to be rebuild in unstable. I have
tested clamfs build with rebuild libcommoncpp2 and it completed
without any problems. Perhaps I should ask for binary-only upload to
rebuild libcommoncpp2 with current version of GCC.

Thanks for your report,

Bug#441221: get postscript error when printing

2007-09-07 Thread Brent S. Elmer, Ph.D.
Package: cupsys
Version: 1.3.0-3
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Sometime recently printing started failing. I get the following error in
cups_error:

E [07/Sep/2007:09:19:17 -0400] [Job 584] pdpr: 5010-606 The value postscript
that was specified or defaulted for attribute document-format is not supported
by the destination or by any of its associated actual destinations.

I keep my lenny system updated regularly and I remember recently upgrading
cupsys. I don't print
that often so I don't know if the failures started with the cupsys upgrade or
not. I do know that the same
print setup works on another lenny box I have that I haven't done the cups
upgrade on. The lenny box that still
works is at cupsys 1.2.11-3. My printer is a network printer with device: IBM
Infoprint Manager and the and the device URI
uses ipselect. This setup used to work and and still does work with backlevel
packages on another lenny box. I am not
sure if the problem is due to the cupsys upgrade or gs or what. Applications
that used to print but are now giving the error are
galeon, Iceweasel, Evince, Lotus Notes under wine, ... The strange thing is
that printing a test page from the cups
administration page in my browser does print. So, it would seem that the
postscript that is generated might be the problem
but I don't know how to figure out where the problem is.

>Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
>org/eclipse/swt/widgets/Layout
that's because "/usr/share/java/swt.jar" doesn't exists.

take a look:
ls -ll /usr/share/java | grep swt.jar

it's a link pointing to another link: "swt.jar -> /etc/alternatives/swt.jar"
but if you look at that new link:
ls -ll /etc/alternatives/ | grep swt.jar

it's pointing to an inexistent file: swt-gtk-3.2.1.jar
the correct file is "/usr/share/java/swt-gtk-3.2.2.jar"

so it seems to be a bug on the swt package.

but you can fix it doing:
update-alternatives --set swt.jar /usr/share/java/swt-gtk-3.2.2.jar

Package: krb5
Version: 1.6.dfsg.1-7
Severity: grave

Hi,
a CVE was published for krb5.
CVE-2007-4743[0]:
The original patch for CVE-2007-3999 in svc_auth_gss.c in the
RPCSEC_GSS RPC library in MIT Kerberos 5 (krb5) 1.4 through 1.6.2, as used by
the Kerberos administration daemon (kadmind) and other applications that use
krb5, does not correctly check the buffer length in some environments and
architectures, which might allow remote attackers to conduct a buffer overflow
attack.

Please include the CVE id in your fix. I have an NMU package ready, if you
have no time or you are not fast enough I would also NMU the package :)

Bug#441126: gfpoken - FTBFS: montage: unable to open image `/tmp/tmp.pFPMh17125/blender//0064.png': No such file or directory.

2007-09-07 Thread Bas Wijnen
Hi,

Thanks for letting me know. This seems to be an endianness-problem in
Blender, seeing that the same failure happens on mips, but not on
mipsel or other little-endian architectures. (There's a different error
there ;-) ).

I'll file a bug there and block this one on it. In the meantime, I'll
ship pre-built images and let the build work even if blender can't load
the file. While I don't like using precompiled files, it is better than
waiting possibly a long time for a fix which will probably not be given
high priority by the Blender people.

Thanks again,
Bas Wijnen

This package has been identified as affected by the removal of php4 in debian.

As php4 will soon be removed, it is very important that we:
 - update the dependencies of all applicable packages to coexist with php5
 - remove source and/or binary packages which have no use without php4

for more information on what may need to be done, please see

  http://wiki.debian.org/PHP4Removal

if you have any questions, please contact the debian php maintainers

Bug#441149: FTBFS: missing build-dependencies on libboost development packages

2007-09-07 Thread Simon Richter

tags 441149 + pending
thanks

Hi,

Matt Kraai wrote:

Package: asio
Version: 0.3.8~rc3-1

asio fails to build from source because it cannot find the header
files provided by libboost-dev, libboost-date-time-dev,
libboost-regex-dev, and libboost-test-dev. The attached patch adds
these packages to its build-dependencies so that the header files can
be found.

Acknowledged. New upload forthcoming as soon as the testsuite has run again.

It's mentioned in the file (item 7), but I agree that this is not the
target group of the Debian package.

The package could create two binaries, one that supports just
scp/sftp, and another one for the rest.

For the stable security update, it's probably best to just disable
Subversion/Unison/rsync.

Sounds good, but that’s up to the maintainer. Thomas, are you reading
this?

Then this should be mentioned in the file. I also think that this is
quite a high hurdle: Admins that want that can surely re-compile
scponly. For the rest, the debian package should come without svn
support. The README.Debian could describe the disabled features, and
under what circumstances they are save, and how best to recompile
scponly.

I think mounting the file system no-exec covers that. IIRC,
Subversion directly executes the hook scripts, and this will fail in
that case.

Bug#441156: RFS: glchess (updated package)

2007-09-07 Thread Thierry Randrianiriana
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the new version 1.0.6+debian-1
of my package "glchess".

It builds these binary packages:
glchess- 2D/3D chess interface

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 421694, 441156

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/glchess
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/glchess/glchess_1.0.6+debian-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards

But that does not prevent commiting to a repository with hooks, right?
You write in the security docs:

> These files have specific filenames at specific locations relative to
> the svn repository root.

But since I can put a repository _anywhere_ by just copying it there,
how do you want the admin to prevent the user running it’s hook
commands?

Joachim

Of course. 2.0.4 is not in testing anymore. testing now contains 2.2.

And of course testings packages won't install on *sarge*. Neither etchs
would do.

You have a broken mix, fix it. This is a non-bug.

Bug#437148: [scponly] svn support in scponly is unsafe

2007-09-07 Thread Kaleb Pederson
Thanks Florian,

The following are now disabled for svn:

"editor-cmd",
"diff-cmd",
"diff3-cmd", (just added)
"config-dir",

The following are disabled for svnserve:

"daemon",
"listen-port",
"listen-host",
"foreground",
"inetd",
"threads",
"listen-once",

The following for rsync:

"rsh",
"daemon",
"rsync-path", (this and below just added)
"address",
"port",
"sockopts",
"config",
"no-detach",

And the following for unison:

"-rshcmd",
"-sshcmd",
"-servercmd",
"-addversionno" (just added)

Where documented, the respective short options for the above are disabled. I
updated the security document to include the changes you recommend, and then
a couple of others that come to mind. The latest version of the security
document is available here:

http://scponly.cvs.sourceforge.net/scponly/scponly/SECURITY?view=markup

We'll continue to look at it and see if there is anything else that we missed.
Thanks again for the help.

Bug#441165: nyello: fails to install

2007-09-07 Thread Nicolas Évrard
Package: nyello
Version: 0.5.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

I'm currently switching to xmms2 from mpd just to try a new media

the following:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
nyello: Depends: libxmmsclient0 which is a virtual package.
Resolving dependencies...
Unable to resolve dependencies! Giving up...
