Bug#443274: dual-card setup doesn't work with X 1.4

2007-09-21 Thread Aldemir Akpinar
No it doesn't. Also X process can not be killed with a -9 as well. As you might
imagine Ctrl+Alt+Backspace doesn't bring back the console too.
But with a dual-head setup Ctrl+Alt+Backspace works and X can be killed.

Does it work if you use a single-head setup enabling only the ati board?

Ok I didn't see that before replying, thanks for testing.

Assuming you downgraded back to Xorg 7.2 and Xserver 1.3, could you try
the following old xserver-xorg-video-ati package? It's the same driver
for the old Xserver 1.3. It will help us know whether the problem is in
Xserver 1.4 or in the driver.

Ok I am reassigning back to ati driver then. It looks like another
Xpress 200 chipset related problem. You might want to try
xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.7.193-1 currently in experimental, it
contains some fixes for these chipsets. Or you can stay in testing (ati
6.6.3 + xserver-xorg-core 1.3). Or you can stay in unstable and use a
rebuild of the old 6.6.3 driver for Xserver 1.4, I'll build that soon
anyway.

Indeedi, it should be possible to build and install aolserver without
that, I'll prepare a new source package which splits the daemon and
the internal libraries. Modules would depend on the libs but not
on the daemon. Thanks for hinting me about that...

 This is also benefical for endusers, as they will not need to

Sometimes the page itself would be replaced by an icon or some other

The patch doesn't seem to have changed anything with regard to this

Bug#436703: #436703: - patch broken - only 8 scsi devices?

Hi,

I'm documenting a discussion about this bug on #debian.de, which had the
following results:

++#define MAX_SCSI_DISKS 8

unfortunately that's broken. It's pretty easy to have way more than 8
scsi devices before the drives in your machine are initialized. You'll
have to take care of all scsi devices.

++  /sys/block/sdX/device/scsi_disk:*/manage_start_stop;

libsysfs should provide highlevel functions to access this.

Bug#443427: looses flagged items randomly

2007-09-21 Thread Rafal Czlonka
Package: liferea
Version: 1.4.1-1
Severity: grave

Hi,
This is somehow related to bug #442811, but in my case liferea looses
flagged items randomly while running. I had couple of dozens of job ads
flagged and lost all of them apart from only few.
I don't know if I observed it correctly, but the lost ones were one day
older than the ones that stayed untouched. Today I've added one more and
again, the ones that have been there yesterday, vanished and the only
one left is the flagged today.
Oddly enough four flagged items from other websites are there for couple
of weeks and nothing has happened to them.

Cheers,
Raf

Hi there,

The log avoids the need of explanations:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.

Bug#443449: base: Debian system doesn't boot with kernel 2.6.22-2-686

2007-09-21 Thread Rafael
Package: base
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Debian system doesn't boot, it fails in process Waiting for root file system.
Debian identify my hard disk as /dev/sda and partiton in which Debian is
installed as /dev/sda1, but in /boot/grub/menu.lst is this entry:

title   Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.22-2-686
root(hd0,0)
kernel  /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-2-686 root=/dev/hda1 ro
initrd  /boot/initrd.img-2.6.22-2-686
savedefault

And in /etc/fstab is:

/dev/hda1   /   ext3defaults,errors=remount-ro 0   1

I am sure that is the cause by system doesn't boot.

Bug#443451: balsa: Links to a GPL library and to OpenSSL

2007-09-21 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Package: balsa
Version: 2.3.20-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.3

Although balsa allows linking to OpenSSL, libgmime does not and it is
GPL, not LGPL. So, balsa should not link to both gmime and openssl. You
have the usual options, including:

* Ask for upstream author of gmime to allow linking to OpenSSL;
* Stop linking to OpenSSL;
* Try to link to GNU TLS with its OpenSSL API support;
* Port balsa to GNU TLS.

Regards,
Thadeu Cascardo.

Bug#441722: [Pkg-octave-devel] Bug#441722: octave2.9: package content changed if build twice or more times in a row

 Hi,

 Lucas Nussbaum has rebuiltthe whole archive three times on i386 and the
 content of your packages builded there differ. This means that the package
 which was generated on the fist build contains or doesn't contains several
 files
 which are or aren't included in the package which build two or three times.

 See the report and the url for details:

 Files in second .changes but not in first
 -
 /usr/share/doc/octave2.9-doc/interpderiv1.pdf.gz
 /usr/share/doc/octave2.9-doc/interpft.pdf.gz

 Files in first .changes but not in second

 /usr/share/doc/octave2.9-htmldoc/interpreter/doc_002dunidinv.html
 /usr/share/doc/octave2.9-htmldoc/interpreter/doc_002dunidpdf.html

 The full build-log can be found at:
 http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2007/doublebuild-09-05/failed-debdiff

The HTML files are not rebuilt because the corresponding .m files (for
which they are the documentation) are not included in the original
tarball. This is an upstream bug (confirmed and fixed in upstream's
CVS).

The PDF files are strange. When rebuilding the documentation, we end up
with colour graphs, whereas the original graphs are black white. Thus
the change in size (they become 4kb) which leads to dh_compress
compressing them.

Thomas

Debugging output is attached.

And no, I cannot (or do not want to) upgrade to Icedove 2.0.0.4 ATM because
this way I’d lose both the Typeaheadfind and DOM inspectory extension.

Please try upgrading to 1.5.0.12.dfsg1-0etch1 or
1.5.0.12.dfsg1-0etch1+lenny1
These are security/stability updates.

2007-09-21 Thread Dylan Thurston
Hello,

Just an update here: the bug does not seem to be in evince itself,
this was just a handy way to trigger it. Something broke after my
upgrade yesterday, and I'm currently trying to isolate which package
is responsible by selective downgrades.

Peace,

Thanks for reporting this bug.

Bug#443468: Additonal info

2007-09-21 Thread Jan Kraljič
The crash happened every time you want to read out selected item. After
some example it seems that crash happen if Selected item is
programatically selected like that:

DropDownList.Items.FindByValue(John).Selected = true;

For example: On web page there is simple DropDownList and the Button. On
Button click the function reads Selected item, that causes error in
page.

It doesn't crash the server.

Bernd Zeimetz wrote:

 unfortunately that's broken.

It's not a problem originating in the patch. The patch just
forward-ports the concept of just treating sda..sdh. (I.e., it's already
present in the state before applying the patch.)

Improving the situation as proposed is welcomed, though.

Thanks for considering (and not deferring the fix further).

Since the upgrade of GTK libs to 2.12 a lot of different actions make poedit
crash. For example merging with a translation catalog, opening and closing
the catalog management, trying to access the catalog settings and so on.

Attached is the log when I try to access the catalog settings (crashes

[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bcc:ed]

AFAICT, the problem here stems from Lesstif 0.95.0's activation of
some experimental code (upstream's own description!) that lacks a
critical safeguard, which the following patch adds:

--- lesstif2-0.95.0.orig/lib/Xm-2.1/RenderTable.c
+++ lesstif2-0.95.0/lib/Xm-2.1/RenderTable.c

/* Experimental start */
-   if (r-dpy == 0)
+   if (r-dpy == 0w)
r-dpy = XtDisplay(w);
/* Experimental end */
 #endif

Could you please apply it, or authorize an NMU?

Thanks!

BTW, it would also be great if you could adjust debian/rules to
support DEBBUILDOPTS=...noopt... (by setting CFLAGS=-g and dropping
--enable-production); a -dbg package might also be handy, but would
require ftpmaster wait.

Hi Lukasz,
I think I found the problem: when faxaddmodem test the availability of the
device, it check for a lock. This lock is usually a file.
Could you please check if you have files like /var/lock/LCK..ttyS* ?

If you have these files, please check the contents and if they are used by any

Let me know,

There is much chance that you have a locally installed version of
libpt.so.1.10.7 in /usr/local/lib. You should just remove it.

If that doesn't work or you don't find it, just send us the output of
ldd -r /usr/lib/libopal.so.2.2.

Bug#441484: patch

2007-09-21 Thread Sebastian Bober
Tags: patch

Hi,

this error occurs because of changed preprocessor output in gcc-4.2. The
attached patch fixes conf/lib/mkdepend.sh to handle it. With this patch
applied smail doesn't FTBFS on my (amd64) box anymore.

Regards,
  Sebastian

Looks like another subtle breakage in libpcre3's ABI...

Another question: what version of libpcre3 do you have installed?

Thanks,

 Thanks,

7.3-2, but the problem existed also with 7.3-1.

  I was just told in my earpiece that this library has nothing to do here.
  It must have been installed by something else and you should remove it.

 Remove libpcre3 package? I don't think it's possible, since it will
 remove half of my system too.

I'm not talking about the libpcre3 package, but of the file
in /lib/libpcre.so.3 which was not brought by a Debian package.

Cheers,

My fault, I didn't think about it. And you are right,
removing /lib/libpcre.so.3 and /lib/libpcre.so.3.12.0 has helped. But I
really don't know what could install them.

Thank you very much.

Bug#442090: I think I know what causes this bug.

2007-09-21 Thread Brandon
I think I know what causes this bug. I had almost the exact same
experience (immediate segfault, nearly identical backtrace) when I used
this debian package to install and run a game that uses luabind, called
allacrost.

The problem, as I understand it, is that both that game (or app) and
luabind have to be compiled using the same version of g++. Tyler, try
recompiling and installing the debian package (no changes necessary,
just recompile) and see if your program will then run.

Debian recently upgraded gcc from 4.1 to 4.2. I think the binary on the
debian servers was compiled with 4.1.

Bug#442090: Possible problem cause identified

2007-09-21 Thread Tyler Olsen
A couple of people on our forums that were seeking help for compiling
Allacrost by source for Linux ran into problems with Luabind, and I
believe we discovered that you have to use the same version of g++ to
compile both our application and Luabind, otherwise bad things happen.
See the following:

http://www.allacrost.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1759
http://www.allacrost.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1853

This may or may not be the cause of the bug I filed in my report, but it
could be worth investigating further.

- Tyler

 Hi!

  sauerbraten segfaults on my PowerBook G4 no matter if I start it with
 -f (then I receive a bit of output) or not. Please find attached an
 strace and gdb bt output.

  If you have any further hints how I can help (propably you want to
 offer a -dbg package?) just let me know.
Hi Rhonda,

Can you check if you still have the problem with mesa 7.0.1-2?

Cheers,

  Gonéri
