Bug#444516: gtkmm2.4: FTBFS: error: 'const struct _GtkToolbar' has no member named 'tooltips'

2007-10-10 Thread Deng Xiyue
New upstream version 2.12+ has it taken care of, mentioning that this
API has been deprecated and broken since gtk+ 2.12. I hope the new
version will come out soon.

I have untested packages for stable at:
   http://the.earth.li/~huggie/xfce4-terminal-fix/
If you have an amd64 box you can just install the deb. Otherwise if you
rebuild it from that .dsc/.diff.gz/.orig.tar.gz on your machine and can
let me know that you can reproduce the bug on the old one but not the
   new that would be useful.
I need to test it myself tonight.
I can build it myself if I need them, but I don't use xfce4-terminal
from Etch. I just wondered why a security related bug that is fixed for
nearly 2 weeks in Sid is still not fixed in Etch.
Because no one has picked this up and looked into it I guess.

I've tested the packages above in a stable chroot now.

 Debdiff is:
   Depends: libatk1.0-0 (= 1.12.2), libc6 (= 2.3.5-1),
   [-libdbus-1-3,-] {+libdbus-1-3 (= 0.94),+}

   libdbus-1-3 is 1.0.2-1 in stable.

   libdbus-glib-1-2 (= 0.71),
   libexo-0.3-0 (= [-0.3.1.10rc1-1),-] {+0.3.1.12rc2-1),+}

   0.3.1.12rc2-1 is current in stable.

   libglib2.0-0 (= 2.12.0), libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.8.0),
   libstartup-notification0 (= 0.8-1), libvte4 (= 1:0.12.1),
   libx11-6, libxfce4util4 (= [-4.3.99.1)-] {+4.3.99.2)+}

   4.3.99.2 is in stable.

   Version: [-0.2.5.6rc1-2-] {+0.2.5.6rc1-2etch1+}

Security team, the packages above from
 http://the.earth.li/~huggie/xfce4-terminal-fix/
are confirmed working and hopefully have the right distribution
 (stable-security) and priority (high).

 Can I upload them somewhere?

Simon.

After a high number of requests to a shibboleth protected URL, the
shibd process dies. It is irrelevant if the requests are made over a
long or short period of time. However, the misbehaviour was reproduced
using JMeter load tests with a few hundred requests using up to 20
parallel requests.

The misbehaviour could also be forced by using ab, the Apache HTTP server
benchmarking tool.

After shibd dies, users can no longer access to shibboleh protected
content on the Apache httpd. Therefore, the package libapache2-mod-shib
has to be regarded as being vulnerable to denial of service attacks.

The Shibboleth Service Provider source code is available at
http://shibboleth.internet2.edu/downloads/ .
Binary package available from the same source do not show this behaviour
because they are compiled with patched versions of the log4cpp and xerces-c
libararies.
In other words, this bug is specific to the Debian GNU/Linux distribution.
This is due to the fact the package libapache2-mod-shib uses the log4cpp and
xerces-c libraries within the Debian distribution. liblog4cpp4 is not thread-
safe and libxerces27 handles memory allocation wrongly at least when used
with shibd.

Details about the system where the tests were made:
Linux debian 2.6.18-4-686 #1 SMP Wed May 9 23:03:12 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

No. Wrong.

 it crashes with:

The bt looks like the one of 444741. Which theme do you use?

Versions of packages openoffice.org-core depends on:
ii libglib2.0-02.14.1-5 The GLib library of C routines
ii libgstreamer-plugins-ba 0.10.14-4GStreamer libraries from the
 base
ii libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.14-2Core GStreamer libraries and
 eleme
 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.12.0-2 The GTK+ graphical user
 interface
And I assume this happened since this was there? Or since when?

And does that also happen with 2.3.0 from experimental?

The madwifi modules still compile under 2.6.22.9, ruling out
the recent upgrade to gcc-4.2.2-1 (I think).

The package is not broken, an upstream kernel version not yet packaged in
debian is not compatible with it, adjusting severity accordingly.

Thanks for notification, pkg-madwifi svn has been prepared for 2.6.23 for a
few weeks now, and just needs a tag and upload. I guess we have to add an
extra Closes: now too.

Thanks, Kel.

Bug#445731: mplayer stops working after kernel update to 2.6.21

2007-10-10 Thread A Mennucc
hi

when you boot with the new kernel, does audio work with other applications?

If you use Gnome , can you play sounds in the gnome sound manager ?
may you try with totem ?

if the above works, may you please try again playing your files with mplayer ,
but using the option '-ao esd' ?

thanks

Actually there is, in the later one audio gets stuck at 0.0 seconds.
My guess is that ALSA broke...

Bug#444829: java6 plugin crashes when java5 does not

2007-10-10 Thread Alban Browaeys

Followup-For: Bug #444829

and
http://jfod.cnam.fr/NFP121/Intro/index.html
applets crashes java6 jvm while switching to java5 one fixes it.

 rm /etc/alternatives/mozilla-javaplugin.so
 ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/etc/alternatives/mozilla-javaplugin.so

 ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
/etc/alternatives/iceweasel-javaplugin.so

then restarting the browser fixed it for me.
Btw why is not there any alternative for iceweasel-javaplugin.so and
mozilla-javaplugin.so (it only registers java6 plugin) while I have both
sun-java5-plugin and sun-java6-plugin ?

Best regards
Alban

Running msgfmt -o /dev/null -c sv.po on the attached file gives parse
error output.

They come from the strangely placed #| comments (which include the
previous msgid version). The translator's tool apparently moved them at the
top of comments (they're usually just before the msgid).

I'm not sure whether this is a bug or not but it could be interesting to
discuss this with your upstream, Santiago.

Just another hint on this one: using etch to recompile eclipse-cdt
*does* work. So it's likely a problem in the toolchain.

Bug#444676: behavior change (that looks like power button support broke in Debian)

On 9/30/07, Joey Hess [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Sorry but yes, you are wrong. What you are suggesting is not the job
of acpid and is not implemented by the upstream code. Such things are
handled by acpi-support, gnome-power-manager and klaptopdaemon and
those packages are already installed during a typical installation.

Bug#446079: do nothing useful: interface mismatch on Grammar

2007-10-10 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
Package: otags
Version: 3.09.3-2
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I'm using ocaml 3.10 with otags. Apparently otags is not capable of
doing anything useful:

  $ otags *ml *mli

mismatch on Grammar.
  Error while loading /usr/lib/ocaml/3.10.0/otags//tags.cma: interface

The error message is reported once for each input file. I guess the
problem is due to some camlp4 interface incompatibility, but passing
-camlp4 camlp5 did not help.

Cheers.

2007-10-10 Thread Arthur Marsh
Package: amsn
Version: 0.97~rc1+dfsg1-5
Followup-For: Bug #444546

I ran:

gdb --args /usr/bin/wish8.4 /usr/bin/amsn

and when I changed to one of the Dejavu fonts received a segmentation
fault with the following backtrace:

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I'm using ocaml 3.10 with otags. Apparently otags is not capable of
doing anything useful:

  $ otags *ml *mli

mismatch on Grammar.
  Error while loading /usr/lib/ocaml/3.10.0/otags//tags.cma: interface

mismatch on Grammar.
  Error while loading /usr/lib/ocaml/3.10.0/otags//tags.cma: interface

The error message is reported once for each input file. I guess the
problem is due to some camlp4 interface incompatibility, but passing
-camlp4 camlp5 did not help.

Cheers.

hi
because of a buildfailure on i386 (see

eclipse-sdk is 3.2.2-3 and so there is a dependecy problem

looks like it took to long to build)

Hi!

The 3.2.2-1 version of eclipse doesn't build on powerpc anymore it
seems. See [1]. As it did build on that architecture and a package of
it is in testing this is a regression.

Please fix it, or get the powerpc package dropped by the ftp masters
(the former is far more the way to go, though). Maybe it is just a
missing Build-Depends, I'm not sure.

 So long,
Rhonda

Severity: serious
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi,

While reviewing packages that were not included in Etch, your package
came up as a package that should maybe be orphaned by its maintainer,
because:
 * no maintainer upload for nearly 3 years ;
 * NMU one year ago without ack
 * new upstream release available

If you think that it should be removed from Debian instead of being
orphaned, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you agree that it should be orphaned, sending the following commands
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] should do it (after replacing nn with
this bug's number):

severity nn normal
reassign nn wnpp
retitle nn O: zangband -- A single-player, text-based, roguelike game
thanks

For more information, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/ch-pkgs.en.html#s-archive-manip

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
close this bug, preferably in an upload also fixing the other issues.

Thank you,

Bug#446104: nstxd leaks like a sieve

2007-10-10 Thread Matthew William Solloway Bell
Package: nstx
Version: 1.1-beta6
Severity: Grave
tags: patch

nstxd leaks like a sieve. As it is intended as a long running service
this makes it mostly unusable (and has caused a server of mine to lockup
and lose unrelated data).

This patch appears to ccorrect the problem in my case, and twiddles a
few trivial things. I have not checked for leaks in nstxcd.

Bug#446106: nvidia-glx fails to install

2007-10-10 Thread Peder Chr. Nørgaard
Package: nvidia-glx
Version: 100.14.19-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I start by stating that I am not at all sure that this is a bug in
nvidia-glx - it might even be a bug in apt. But I feel I have to
start here, to get some input to solve the problem. At any rate, the
package *does* fail to install.

I work on a newly created sid debian system, an Intel core 2 duo CPU
using i386 (not amd64) distribution.

I have successfully built and installed a kernel module package for
the correct version of nvidia, kernel and hardware:

ii nvidia-kernel-2.6.22-2-686 100.14.19-1 NVIDIA binary kernel
module for Linux 2.6.22-2-686

(Incidentally, this particular package has worked with nvidia-glx on
another Debian system. So I know it is OK.)

Then, when I attempt to install nvidia-glx I get this message:

pcndeb:~# apt-get install nvidia-glx
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kdelibs4c2a: Depends: xbase-clients but it is not going to be installed
xserver-xorg-core: Depends: xserver-xorg but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

And now I am completely lost. What have these four packages to do
with nvidia-glx, and what is it that apt-get is trying to tell me?
Yes, nvidia-glx depends on xserver-xorg-core, but it *is* installed,
with proper version, and so are the other three packages mentioned:

ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.7.dfsg.1-7 core libraries and
binaries for all KDE applications
ii xbase-clients1:7.3+2 miscellaneous X clients -
metapackage
ii x11-common 1:7.3+2 X Window System (X.Org)
infrastructure
ii xserver-xorg-core2:1.4-3 Xorg X server - core
server

The other packages on which nvidia-glx depends are also installed, with
proper versions:

ii libc62.6.1-5 GNU C Library: Shared
libraries
ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7X11 client-side library
ii libxext6 1:1.0.3-2X11 miscellaneous
extension library

I am no novice in using apt-get and solving dependency problems, but
this problem has stopped me cold. I have no clue as for how to
proceed.

best regards

Package: zangband
Version: 1:2.7.3-3
Severity: serious

Hello,

This is a serious bug filed against your package because it
build-depends on xlibs-dev, which as announced in [1] a while ago, is
no longer available in sid. This makes your package fail to build from
  source.

[1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/11/msg00022.html

To fix this bug, you need to update your build-dependencies and
substitute xlibs-dev for the list of individual X development
libraries that your package needs to be built. You can find detailed
information about how to do that in the DependsXlibsDev wiki page [2].

[2] http://wiki.debian.org/DependsXlibsDev

As indicated by the Release Team [3], the full transition from XFree86
to Xorg is a release blocker for Etch, which means that Etch will not
be released until this bug is fixed (or your package removed from
testing). So, please, try to fix in a timely manner.

[3] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/10/msg4.html

The number of affected packages by the xlibs-dev transition is huge,
so if you feel like helping with patches or uploads, feel free to
follow the instructions contained in the wiki page above. A list of
affected packages can be found here [4].

[4] http://people.debian.org/~adeodato/release-usertag/transition-xlibs-dev

Finally, if there's a strong reason for which your package should not
be NMUed, please note so in this bug report. Prospective NMUers will
read your reasoning, and will decide if it's strong enough to delay
  their upload.

  Thanks for your collaboration!

Bug#444676: behavior change (that looks like power button support broke in Debian)

Sorry but yes, you are wrong. What you are suggesting is not the job
of acpid and is not implemented by the upstream code. Such things are
handled by acpi-support, gnome-power-manager and klaptopdaemon and
those packages are already installed during a typical installation.

None of these packages handle making a server shut down when the power
button is pressed. None of them are even installed on a server.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to either a) bring this bug to the
technical committe b) hijack your package or c) upload a package
containing fixed powerbtn scripts and make d-i install it instead of
your package (since your package destroys working powerbtn scripts as
per #444666). Any preferences?

Hi again Pierre,

I am still working on patching the scripts. This will lead to a 'security
release' named 1.7.1, quite soon (I hope).

Binding is Ok, I will use a file containing the password (no more $BINDPWD
variable) and ldap commands' -y option. Anyway, I still think this 'flaw' should
also be patched at openldap level when possible (setproctitle(3)).

I still wonder if it is a good idea to use a temporary file for sed scripts.
Trap is good, but what if the server crashes ? Is it better to be able to watch
sed expressions during a few seconds with ps or to leave orphan temporary files
on the disk forever ? Any idea ?

Bug#428876: Testcase for 428876

2007-10-10 Thread brian m. carlson
Can you send me a testcase that fails on sparc, so I can investigate?
I'd build core++, but I really don't want to install texlive on my sparc
machine if I don't have to (it's an old, hence slow, Ultra 5).

I suspect the problem on sparc is an unaligned access, which should be
fairly easy to fix.

Hi,
The following was released on:
http://secunia.com/advisories/27117/

| Some vulnerabilities have been reported in AlsaPlayer, which potentially can
be
| exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
|
| The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors in the vorbis input
| plug-in when processing .OGG files. These can be exploited to cause buffer
| overflows via a specially crafted .OGG file with overly long comments.
|
| Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

Kind regards
Nico

I see you're using a 64-bits kernel under 32-bits; in which env did you
 run the build?

I tried both with and without linux32, the error was the same.
it seems the cause was an old c++ binary at /usr/bin/c++ which the
configure script was finding before g++

bug closed as it was a build environment problem.
