Description: mail delivery agent with filtering abilities
maildrop is a replacement for your local mail delivery agent.
maildrop reads a mail message from standard input, then delivers the
message to your mailbox. maildrop knows how to deliver mail to mbox-style
mailboxes, and maildirs (a mail storing format introduced by Qmail).
 .
maildrop can optionally read instructions from a file on how to filter
incoming mail, and, based upon the instructions, deliver mail to alternate
mailboxes, or forward it to somewhere else, like procmail. Unlike procmail,
maildrop uses a structured filtering language that's a bit easier on the
 eyes.

On Di, 04 Dez 2007, Frank Küster wrote:
That's a serious issue, and may actually be a bug in tex-common.

How could it be? That is dpkg stuff.

No the problem is quite simple, the formats where moved from
texlive-base-bin to texlive-base, but the config file was never moved...

This is already old, from README.changes:
-
2007-05-21
  * texlive-common conflicts with all package revisions of all packages
 latest-revision as set in tpm2deb.cfg.
  * big format move:
- move (partly fixed) format.{tex,pdftex,etex,metafont} to texlive-base
and edit format.latex.cnf in texlive-base. Fixes done:
  . add pdfetex to format.etex.cnf
  . add latex to format.latex.cnf
. remove those two from format.pdftex.cnf
  . take unchanged format.tex.cnf
- BuildFormat executes moves:
  . remove call in texlive-bin/bin-{tex,pdftex,etex,metafont}.tpm
. add call {tex, pdftex, etex} to plain.tpm (and thus to texlive-base)
. add call metafont to metafont.tpm (and thus to texlive-base)
- missing: should we take over fmt.d/10texlive-base-bin.cnf? I prefer
to leave it there and don't do anything. After we have this version
without a conf file we can add code for the upgrade from 2005.
  * as a consequence of the format move some cleaning actions:
- remove /usr/bin/mf - mf-nowin as generated from dh_installtex in
texlive-base rules, mf is shipped by texlive-base-bin
- remove also /usr/bin/{pdf,}etex in texlive-base rules, and create
  them via dh_link in texlive-base-bin
-

Note the:
  - missing: should we take over fmt.d/10texlive-base-bin.cnf? ...

I guess we should simple add code to the postinst script to remove it?

 /etc/texmf/fmt.d/01tetex.cnf.obsolete not owned

That's something we need to add to the postrm of some package, don't
know which is the right one.

probably better to the postINST of texlive-base-bin ...

Best wishes

Norbert

Package: openoffice.org-gnome
Version: 1:2.3.0.dfsg-2
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

When opening files on a shared folder (in one case, a Windows share, in
another case, a share from another Debian box) the file is zeroed out
when the file is opened. Irretrievable data loss. No warning.
Something to do with gnome Vfs perhaps. The error occurs in Writer and
Calc (the only two parts of openoffice.org I tested).
I saw this happen with a number of small documents that opened just fine
if they were first copied to the local hard drive.

Bug#454445: [Aqbanking-devel] Debit notes

2007-12-05 Thread Micha Lenk
Hi Werner,

you wrote:
Thanks for the advice, however that did not work, still the same
error. Perhaps best to de-install aqbanking-tool and reinstall it?

Yes, try that.

But are you really sure that you have installed all mentioned packages
in the same version? (Check the output of dpkg -l \*bank\*)

  Micha

After the update and w/o changing xorg.conf X doesn't start any more. Both the
vesa and the Xorg-ATI-driver aren't an option for me because they aren't
working as well :-(

The X-log and the xorg.conf will be sent as follow-ups.

Bug#454445: [Aqbanking-devel] Debit notes

2007-12-05 Thread Micha Lenk
Hi Werner,

you wrote:
  /usr/bin/aqbanking-tool debitnote --bank= [...]

From this command I get the error: /usr/bin/aqbanking-tool: symbol
 lookup error: /usr/bin/aqbanking-tool: undefined symbol:

Can anybody tell me, what I do wrong? I am using Version 2.3.3-1
 from the Debian package

Apparently you mixed up the versions:
 aqbanking-tool 2.3.3-1
 aqbanking16-qt-wizard2.2.3-3
 libaqbanking-data2.3.3-1
 libaqbanking-plugins-lib 2.2.3-3
 libaqbanking16 2.2.3-3
 libcbanking162.2.3-3
 libqbanking4 2.2.3-3

Please make sure you upgrade *all* AqBanking packages to the same
version. I suggest to run an aptitude update aptitude upgrade.

  Micha

Bug#454488: gnugk: use of adduser in preinst without pre-depends

2007-12-05 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: gnugk
Version: 2:2.2.6-2
Severity: serious

Current versions of gnugk are doing something very bizarre in the maintainer
scripts. You seem to have merged the postinst and preinst into a single
script, which makes no sense at all since there's no overlapping behavior
between the two; and in the process, you're calling adduser from the preinst
but don't pre-depend on adduser, which is a policy violation, and doesn't
seem to belong in the preinst anyway since it's not needed as a prerequisite
for unpacking the package.

And you've dropped support for several of the values of $1 that are valid
under policy (abort-remove and abort-deconfigure), which means that if
either of these operations ever fail your package gets to be in an unclean
state for no good reason.

And of course, there's the fact that you're using the #DEBHELPER# token,

And of course, there's the fact that you're using the #DEBHELPER# token,
which is only going to do the right thing for one of postinst or preinst,
since it can't contain correct values for both scripts at the same time (bug
#454259).

Hi,

Installation of gnugk fails with the following message:

This is my first time to install this package. Seems user gnugk

Yes, now it's the only package with a differing version number.
Previously also aqbanking-tool were newer than the libraries (it had
version 2.3.3-1 too).

Having a newer libaqbanking-data will not cause a segfault, so you
probably can work with it. But don't take it as granted. To be on the
safe side you should reinstall the package libaqbanking-data too... ;)

Bug#453885: dpkg-shlibdeps changes can't track symlinks (/usr/lib, /usr/lib64)

Is that true ? Is there a good reason for this ?

maybe not; but this kind of thing is hardcoded upstream, so you'll see
this in other packages as well.

I know we're not going to clean all RPATH magically, but it might still be
nice to clean them progressively. :) I'll still fix the generic problem
that dpkg-shlibdeps has been seeing.

Since the soname is different, it shouldn't create any problem.

no, then all the -gcj packages would depend on libgcj8-1, not on
 libgcj-bc.

That's not true. You can perfectly put a shlibs file in libgcj8-1 that's
going to generate a dependency on libgcj-bc for binaries linked to
libgcj_bc.so.1.

Please consider this approach.

Cheers,

This seems unlikely, since -3sarge10 includes the upstream change from
3.0.27a and several users who were experiencing this problem confirmed that
-3sarge10 fixed the issue for them before I published this update.

Can you stop and start smbd to to confirm that there wasn't an error
upgrading the package? If the problem persists after restarting smbd, can
you send a local (ls -lA) listing of a directory showing this problem, along
with an indication of the files/directories that don't appear when viewed
remotely?

Bug#454502: gajim fails when it tries to create log database

2007-12-05 Thread Armin Berres
Package: gajim
Version: 0.11.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi!

I just noticed that gajim fails to start. After moving .gajim out of the
way it fails with the following error:

Requires docutils 0.4 for set_classes to be available
creating logs database
Traceback (most recent call last):

  File /usr/share/gajim/src/common/check_paths.py, line 34, in create_log_db

I don't now when gajim stopped to work (it was definitely fine some days ago),
so I
guess some library is broken. When I have some time I'll try to find the
culprit.

Bug#453189: centerim: Bug 39: icq contacts all show as offline

2007-12-05 Thread Sascha Vogt
Hi,

first of all, there seem to be 2 different problems with this issue:
a) CenterIM doesn't show the presence status in ICQ
b) CenterIM does not add contacts to the server-side contacts list

Issue a) is fixed with a small patch [0]. Issue b) still remains.
Although for b) there is a simple workaround: Just add your contacts
with another Client (Pidgin, Finch, icq2go, ...).

The respective dev told me, that there is nothing which we can do, to
bring back the old behaviour. He stated, that ICQ has changed the
protocol and does only allow presence notification for online stored
contacts.

As this does not happen to all users I cannot guarantee the above
statement, but I believe this dev. My explanation to that is, that ICQ
did upgrade only some of their servers, and not all. That may change in
the future.

In addition, some reported, that without doing anything, they have all
their contacts online again. This is another hint, that it depends on to
which of the ICQ-servers you are connected. I do not know how the
load-balancing works, but it seems resonable to me, that you change the
server from time to time...

Hope this helps,
Greetings
-Sascha-

Package: rsync
Version: 2.6.3-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch security

Hi,
the new rsync upstream release fixes two security bugs which
can be exploited via a symlink attack.
1. Daemon advisory for use chroot = no

If you are running a writable rsync daemon with use chroot = no, there is at
least one way for someone to trick rsync into creating a symlink that points
outside of the module's hierarchy.

This means that if you are allowing access from users who you don't trust, that
you should either figure out a way to turn on use chroot, or configure the
daemon to refuse the --links option (see refuse options in the rsyncd.conf
manpage) which will disable the ability of the rsync module to receive
symlinks. After doing so, you should also check that any existing symlinks in
the daemon hierarchy are safe.

Starting with the 3.0.0-pre6 release, there is a new daemon option available:
munge symlinks. This allows an rsync daemon to accept symlinks and return
them intact (with even a leading slash still there, which is new for a
non-chroot daemon), but will not allow the symlinks to be used while they are
in the daemon's hierarchy. For those running 2.6.9, there is a patch to
implement this option.

Any admin applying that patch should read the munge symlinks section of the
modified rsyncd.conf manpage for more information. You can also read about this
option in the rsyncd.conf manpage from the 3.0.0pre6 release.
2. Daemon advisory for daemon excludes

If you are running a writable rsync daemon that is using one of the exclude,
exclude from, or filter options in the rsyncd.conf file to hide data from
your users, you should be aware that there are tricks that a user can play with
symlinks and/or certain options that can allow a user that knows the name of a
hidden file to access it or overwrite it (if file permissions allow that).

You can avoid the symlink problem using the suggestions in the advisory above.

You can avoid the problems with other options by putting the following refuse
options setting into your rsyncd.conf file:
refuse options = --*-dest --partial-dir --backup-dir

An upcoming release of rsync 3.0.0 will hopefully fix the daemon-exclude
validation of these options to make this unnecessary, but this has not yet been
implemented.

If you combine the above refuse options with the prior suggestion to refuse
--links, that would give you this list of options (included here for easier
copy/pasting):
refuse options = --links --*-dest --partial-dir --backup-dir

See: http://rsync.samba.org/security.html#s3_0_0

A patch can be found on:
http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/munge-symlinks-2.6.9.diff

A CVE id for this issue is currently pending, I will add it to the bug report.
If you fix the package after I got it please include the CVE id in the changelog
then.

Kind regards
Nico

Bug#454520: jukebox-mercury: should this package be removed?

2007-12-05 Thread Filippo Giunchedi
Package: jukebox-mercury
Version: 0.1-1.1
Severity: serious
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: proposed-removal

Hi,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible
candidate for removal from Debian, because:

 * several RC bugs
 * long since last maintainer upload, last NMU in 2003
 * low popcon

If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from
Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you agree, sending the following commands to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
should do it (after replacing nn with this bug's number):
severity nn normal
reassign nn ftp.debian.org
retitle nn RM: packagename -- RoM; reasons
thanks

For more information, see
http://wiki.debian.org/ftpmaster_Removals
http://ftp-master.debian.org/removals.txt

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
just close this bug, preferably in an upload also fixing the other
issues.

Thank you,

filippo

Bug#407405: file conflicts between ncc and nemerle

2007-12-05 Thread Anuradha Weeraman
Hi Sebastian,

Any ideas on what we can do about this?

Thanks.

On May 30, 2007 9:44 PM, Anuradha Weeraman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
 Hi Sebastian,

Ok, now that etch is release what shall we do about this bug, Anuradha?
Does your upstream consider to change the name of the binary?

Sorry for the late response, but I've been a bit busy lately and I've
not had much time for anything else. But things should change soon,
 hopefully.

The last time I spoke to Stelios, he was not completely for changing
the ncc binary name. According to his view, which I tend to agree
with, he believes nemerle should rename it's ncc binary to something
that's more appropriate for a dot-net application, such as with an
 .exe suffix.

But according to the CLI Policy [1]

Never ever install application files (.exe) directly into /usr/bin.
Instead create a wrapper script into /usr/bin to allow them to be run
 without the .exe suffix.

So I'm guessing that would not work? Forgive my ignorance on the CLI
policy, but do you know if it is an approved policy document?

I realize this can be a stale mate situation, and I'm not clear what
nemerle's stance on this issue is and whether they would consent to a
 name change.

 Any suggestions?

#454375 and #454158 were initialy the same problem but not after
cli-common was fixed.

[Note for the bugreport processor:
Please do not merge bugreports that are different problems. And re-using
bugreports is bad too, for a new issue, file a new bug report (or clone
it with explanation of the new issue and retitling). Titles such as
something crashes is very bad, as that is a very vague symptom.
Exception/crash messages should be used as title instead.]

I believe the cause of this new crash (after updating cli-common and
reinstalling mono-addins) was caused by a partial upgrade of mono-addins
and restarting tomyboy.

Chain of events:
- upgraded cli-common to = 0.5.1
- reinstalled libmono-addins2.0-cil
- re-started tomboy - crash, mono-addins DB got into a incosistent
state as an exception happened caused by the missing policy file for
mono-addins-gui.
- upgraded libmono-addins-gui2.0-cil, started tomboy - stil crashes
because of corrupted addin DB.

The deletion of ~/.tomboy deleted the addins DB, and it become rebuild
during the next start, but this time with a clean mono-addins install.

I believe this is a corner-case which wouldn't happen in normal upgrade
scenarios, thus I am closing the bug report.

Package: libapache2-mod-log-sql-dbi
Version: new version pushed before its dependency
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The new version of mod-log-sql-dbi requires libdbi0 version 8+, but
version 7 is the only one available.

The older version of mod-log-sql and mod-log-sql-dbi should be put back
until the new version of libdbi0 is in the tree.

Description:
kernel-patch-debianlogo - Debian logo kernel patch -- transitional dummy
package
Closes: 171526 184103 402519 416034
Changes:
 kernel-patch-debianlogo (1.7) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * For naming consistency with other Linux related packages, the
kernel-patch-debianlogo package has been replaced in favour of the
linux-patch-debianlogo package. This is now a transitional dummy package
solely depending on linux-patch-debianlogo to allow smooth upgrades to the
 new package. (Closes: #416034)
   * Closing old or unreproducible bugs of kernel-patch-debianlogo, because
this package does not contain the debianlogo patch anymore. If you can
reproduce one of these bugs please reopen and reassign it to the
linux-patch-debianlogo package or ask us for help. (Closes: #171526,
 #184103, #402519)
   * Skipped version 1.6 for this release since linux-patch-debianlogo/1.6
introduced versioned Replaces and Conflicts on kernel-patch-debianlogo
( 1.7) but both packages, the transitional kernel-patch-debianlogo and
the new linux-patch-debianlogo, should be installable together.
   * debian/control:
 - Added myself to Uploaders with permission of Stefano Melchior and
   Emanuele Rocca.
 - Added Homepage and Vcs-{Svn,Browser} fields to the source stanza.
 - Bumped Standards-Version from 3.7.2 to 3.7.3, no changes were required.

Bug#454445: [Aqbanking-devel] Debit notes

2007-12-05 Thread Customer-Service 2
Hi Micha!

Thanks for the advice, however that did not work, still the same
error. Perhaps best to de-install aqbanking-tool and reinstall it?

Best regards

Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) id was
published for rss-glx.

CVE-2007-5585[0]:
| xscreensaver 5.03 and earlier, when running without
| xscreensaver-gl-extras (GL extras) installed, crashes when
| /usr/bin/xscreensaver-gl-helper does not exist and a user attempts to
| unlock the screen, which allows attackers with physical access to gain
| access to the locked session.

If you fix this vulnerability please also include the CVE id
in your changelog entry.

So I think rss-glx should depend on xscreensaver-gl. I can't
reproduce xscreensaver crashing, however it will exit if the
xscreensaver-gl-helper program is missing.

For further information:

Kind regards
Nico

Bug#446299: eclipse: Crashes on startup

2007-12-05 Thread Arie Skliarouk
I have the same problem.
If I launch the command line manually (not using eclipse shell script), then
eclipse starts properly:

/usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/bin/java -Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni -
Dgnu.gcj.precompiled.db.path=/var/lib/gcj-4.2/classmap.db \ -
Dgnu.gcj.runtime.VMClassLoader.library_control=never
-Dosgi.locking=none-jar /usr/lib/eclipse//usr/lib/eclipse/startup.jar
\
-os linux -ws gtk -arch x86 -launcher /usr/lib/eclipse/eclipse -name Eclipse
-showsplash 600 -exitdata 4230001 \

Dgnu.gcj.runtime.VMClassLoader.library_control=never \
-Dosgi.locking=none -jar /usr/lib/eclipse//usr/lib/eclipse/startup.jar

I have copied the /usr/lib/eclipse/startup.jar to
/usr/lib/eclipse//usr/lib/eclipse/startup.jar:

cp /usr/lib/eclipse/startup.jar /usr/lib/eclipse/usr/lib/eclipse/

Bug#454536: fails to parse email

2007-12-05 Thread Thomas Viehmann
Package: libgmime-2.0-2
Version: 2.2.10-2
Severity: serious
Tags: security

Hi,

on messages with malformed encoding of header values,
g_mime_parser_construct_message does not return.

This could be quite a bad deal as any application processing mail from
untrusted sources (i.e. almost anything working on inbound mail) can be
prevented to process other messages correctly (as in DOS). If, however,
the security team concludes that this bug is not security relevant,
please do remove the tag and lower the severity.

Please find attached testcase.c and testcase.mbox.
Upon compiling with
  gcc $(gmime-config --cflags --libs) testcase.c -o testcase
and running
  ./testcase testcase.mbox
reproduces the problem, which seems to rest with the nothing between the
first two ?? in the subject's =??Q??=.

Kind regards

T.

Dear maintainer of libdbi-drivers,

postgresql-dev was dropped from the archive on 12 Jun 2007 [1].
Please remove it from libdbi-drivers's build-depends.

You can use libpq-dev instead [2], if you haven't done so already.

Please notice that postgresql-dev isn't even needed to do backports
for Etch.

Thanks.

Bug#454184: liferea: Segmentation fault during startup on lenny

2007-12-05 Thread Vincent Lefevre
 Package: liferea
 Version: 1.0.27-2
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable

Liferea version 1.0.27 has been obsolete for a long time. At least
there's no problem with 1.4.6-1 on my Debian x86 machine, and 1.4.9
(now in unstable, but which I haven't tried yet on Debian) fixes a
regression.

I don't know if the reporter has tried with the latest version yet,
but the severity should probably be at most important.

Yep. Already known to me since Oct, 04 :)

The version in experimental (and hsqldb 1.8.0.9-x) is fixed. 1:2.3.1-1
hangs in NEW, though (it will add the CVE mentioning to 1:2.3.1~rc1-1's
changelog).

Joey already has fixed versions for etch (-7etch4), just the DSA needs
sending out..

Closing with the appropriate versions.

Thanks for your patience. I'll try to make my initial bug report a
little more useful next time. How do I automatically include Gnome's
crash dump in my bug reports? Using reportbug -i pidgin-crash.txt
didn't seem to actually include that file in my bug report.

Thanks again!

Bug#454158: #454375 and #454158 are different issues, but both fixed (or rather can't be fixed - corner case)

2007-12-05 Thread Ming Hua
On Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 11:40:36AM +0100, Mirco Bauer wrote:

I believe the cause of this new crash (after updating cli-common and
reinstalling mono-addins) was caused by a partial upgrade of mono-addins
 and restarting tomyboy.

I had a full upgrade in Debian unstable, and still saw this bug.

 Chain of events:
 - upgraded cli-common to = 0.5.1
 - reinstalled libmono-addins2.0-cil
 - re-started tomboy - crash, mono-addins DB got into a incosistent
state as an exception happened caused by the missing policy file for
 mono-addins-gui.
 - upgraded libmono-addins-gui2.0-cil, started tomboy - stil crashes
 because of corrupted addin DB.

My chain of events:

- Upgrade cli-common from 0.4.9 to 0.5.0, and libmono-addins{,-gui}2.0-cil
  from 0.2-4 to 0.3~svn.r90520-1.
- Upgrade cli-common from 0.5.0 to 0.5.2.
- Tomboy still doesn't start. I don't think I've tried using tomboy
  between the two upgrade.

My solution/workaround:

Run dpkg-reconfigure on all three packages: libmono-addins2.0-cil,
libmono-addins-gui2.0-cil, and tomboy.

After that my tomboy runs normally. The full log of error messages is
attached.

The deletion of ~/.tomboy deleted the addins DB, and it become rebuild
during the next start, but this time with a clean mono-addins install.

I believe this is a corner-case which wouldn't happen in normal upgrade
scenarios, thus I am closing the bug report.

I know unstable to unstable upgrades break now and then and sometimes
are not worth fixing. But I don't think this is a corner case, and has
nothing to do with partial upgrade.
