Bug#523187: [Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#523187: Same issue for me
Looks like a splashy related problem Thomas, do you also have splashy installed, ie. do you have a file /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh ? I have :-( So, then I tried your trick with renaming lsb-base-loging.sh and then the update works with no problem. Looks like uninstalling splashy for now... (do you still need the sh -x output?) Bug#523161: FTBFS: Remove dependency on iso_639.tab file
Quoting Tobias Quathamer (to...@debian.org): Package: geneweb Version: 5.01-8 Severity: serious Tags: patch Hi Christian, I've prepared a patch for you to remove the dependency on the iso_639.tab file. I've built the package successfully here, the language choices in the debconf frontend seem to be sane as well. However, I don't use the package geneweb myself, so it would be great if you could check for yourself if the patch is really complete. Thanks, Tobias. .config, .postinst and mktemplates were the three places where I identified that I was having some use of iso_630.tab. Thanks a lot for the patch. At first glance, it seems correct and it noticeably simplifies the scripts (which is logical as I was more or less mimicing the behaviour of isoquery in some way, with ugly grep|awk scripting). I'll probably prepare a geneweb upload next week-end. Thanks again. PS: we might need to check what packages Build-Depend on iso-codes just to be sure whether some others need that .tab file. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#523300: Iceweasel Critical Crash Report
Package: iceweasel Version: 3.07 Severity: critical I was testing a web page with some JavaScript that I was in the process of writing and was testing. The JavaScript included one or two 'alerts' to test where I was in the script prior to any 'function' and there was code to get elements by id. The code should have been called with the body onload function, unfortunately I hadn't got to that point and was calling it early. However the 'alert/s' appeared to crash iceweasel out of hand. Bug#523323: missing source code
Package: openarena Version: 0.8.1-2 Severity: serious Some parts of the openarena source code seems to be missing from the debian packages, in particular the files that are supposed to be in code/cgame/. These files contain the actual game logic, so I think the compiled versions of these files end up in the openarena-data package somewhere. Still, it's the core part of the game, and I definately think it must be included in the debian package. Actually, it might even be required by policy to build these files from use for the openarena-data package. Bug#522162: syslog-ng: crashes on segmentation fault - solved
I investigated this problem, running gdb syslog showed that syslog-ng crashed in g_static_private_set from glib I first tried to rebuild syslog-ng from source to get debugging symbols, but pkgconfig crashed with the same error. This made me really suspect glib and indeed after upgrading to glib2.0-2.20 the problem disappeared. Note: I'm working with the original submitter and solved the problem on the same machine. You can see the changelog below, and you can check the diff of the fix at: http://git.debian.org/?p=dpkg/dpkg.git;a=commitdiff;h=e5235b1 --- commit e5235b174b04cd3662e9b189cd7502fc58a031a6 Author: Raphael Hertzog hert...@debian.org Date: Thu Apr 9 18:35:10 2009 +0200 dpkg-source: don't die on SIGPIPE of uncompressors Modify Dpkg::Source::CompressedFile to not die when uncompressors processes (gunzip, bunzip, etc.) are killed by SIGPIPE. Recent tar versions close the pipe before having read everything sent by the uncompressor process when they encounter the end of the tar file. This was of course problematic for Dpkg::Source::Archive. This is a regression compared to etch's dpkg-source which dealt with SIGPIPE properly. The Dpkg::Source::Compressor::wait_end_process() function had to be extended to be able to forward options to Dpkg::IPC::wait_child(). diff --git a/debian/changelog b/debian/changelog index b053ff5..f2fac7b 100644 --- a/debian/changelog +++ b/debian/changelog @@ -50,6 +50,9 @@ dpkg (1.15.1) UNRELEASED; urgency=low Thanks to Nils Rennebarth for the patch. * Fix a mistake in the french translation of dpkg's manual page. This bug was fixed with znc 0.066. A quote from the changelog[1]: Webadmin doesn't properly validate user input. If you send a manipulated POST request to webadmin's edit user page which includes newlines in e.g. the QuitMessage field, this field will be written unmodified to the config. This way you can add new lines to znc.conf. The new lines will not be parsed until the next rehash or restart. This can be done with nearly all input fields in webadmin. Because every user can modify himself via webadmin, every user can exploit this bug. Bug#521027: (no subject)
One part of the patch in experimental (which replaces ifconfig with ip calls) removes the variable $mask, so that now the NFSROOT is only exported to the IP address of the server. I'm pretty sure this will break things. Or did I overlooked something? ip addr includes the mask in the output, so it would be there rightaway, like this: mole:~# ip addr show dev eth0 2: eth0: BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,1 mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen 1000 link/ether 00:14:4f:9e:af:b0 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff inet 130.83.161.196/27 brd 130.83.161.223 scope global eth0 inet6 fe80::214:4fff:fe9e:afb0/64 scope link valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever The patch, however, indeed seems to be broken because of the cut -d / -f 1, which drops the mask. Luk (BCC'ed), could you comment on that? Best, Michael pgp52ftoaKdWq.pgp Description: PGP signature

I reconfigured the hardware recently and I am now getting the following backtrace: [ 105.764004] irq 10: nobody cared (try booting with the irqpoll option) [ 105.764004] Pid: 0, comm: swapper Tainted: P 2.6.26-1-686 #1 [ 105.764004] [c015280f] __report_bad_irq+0x24/0x69 [ 105.764004] [c0152816] __report_bad_irq+0x2b/0x69 [ 105.764004] [c0152a28] note_interrupt+0x1d4/0x208 [ 105.764004] [c0151fd6] handle_IRQ_event+0x23/0x51 [ 105.764004] [c01530e9] handle_fasteoi_irq+0x85/0xa4 [ 105.764004] [c0105f3a] do_IRQ+0x4d/0x63 [ 105.764004] [c0102656] default_idle+0x0/0x53 [ 105.764004] [c01042a7] common_interrupt+0x23/0x28 [ 105.764004] [c0102656] default_idle+0x0/0x53 [ 105.764004] [c0114d54] native_safe_halt+0x2/0x3 [ 105.764004] [c0102683] default_idle+0x2d/0x53 [ 105.764004] [c01025ce] cpu_idle+0xab/0xcb [ 105.764004] === [ 105.764004] handlers: [ 105.764004] [f8b8507f] (usb_hcd_irq+0x0/0x73 [usbcore]) [ 105.764004] [f8b8507f] (usb_hcd_irq+0x0/0x73 [usbcore]) [ 105.764004] [f8ddecd8] (snd_via686_interrupt+0x0/0xc5 [snd_via82xx]) [ 105.764004] Disabling IRQ #10 IRQ10 is shared between ACPI and the via8233 sound card. /proc/interrupts: 10: 11 IO-APIC-fasteoi uhci_hcd:usb1, uhci_hcd:usb2, VIA8233A 11: 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi acpi 14: 5021 IO-APIC-edge ide0 15: 1625 IO-APIC-edge ide1 16:456 IO-APIC-fasteoi eth0 18: 183482 IO-APIC-fasteoi unicorn_pci I am unclear about the Unicorn card's IRQ. Michael Tautschnig wrote: One part of the patch in experimental (which replaces ifconfig with ip calls) removes the variable $mask, so that now the NFSROOT is only exported to the IP address of the server. Well, it was only being used for single IPs anyway, so the netmask doesn't make any difference AFAICS. Though feel free to adjust to also use the netmask if you like it better. Cheers Luk -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? tag 523329 pending thanks Hello, Bug #523329 reported by you has been fixed in the Git repository. You can see the changelog below, and you can check the diff of the fix at: http://git.debian.org/?p=dpkg/dpkg.git;a=commitdiff;h=7c75872 --- commit 7c75872f5cf43b98fc7facbe057c3f98d50a4172 Author: Raphael Hertzog hert...@debian.org Date: Thu Apr 9 18:35:10 2009 +0200 dpkg-source: don't die on SIGPIPE of uncompressors Modify Dpkg::Source::CompressedFile to not die when uncompressors processes (gunzip, bunzip, etc.) are killed by SIGPIPE. Recent tar versions close the pipe before having read everything sent by the uncompressor process when they encounter the end of the tar file. This was of course problematic for Dpkg::Source::Archive. This is a regression compared to etch's dpkg-source which dealt with SIGPIPE properly. The Dpkg::Source::Compressor::wait_end_process() function had to be extended to be able to forward options to Dpkg::IPC::wait_child(). diff --git a/debian/changelog b/debian/changelog index 79223b5..f813d13 100644 --- a/debian/changelog +++ b/debian/changelog @@ -1,5 +1,10 @@ dpkg (1.14.26) UNRELEASED; urgency=low + [ Raphael Hertzog ] + * Fix dpkg-source to not die when uncompressor processes are killed by +SIGPIPE due to tar closing the pipe without exhausting all the data +available. Bug#521553: rt2860 driver contains non-free firmware
-=| maximilian attems, Sun, Mar 29, 2009 at 07:05:49PM +0200 |=- On Sat, 28 Mar 2009, Ben Hutchings wrote: I'd like to commit the following change. Obviously this disables the drivers and they will have to be modified to work with external firmware. But I don't see why we should wait for that. ok for committing to trunk, so that can be sorted for 2.6.30. don't see the need to have to rush that for 2.6.29, who just happened to be uploaded. Darren Salt is working on porting rt2860 to use the standard firmware loading mechanism. In my understanding, that would allow the driver to remain in the tree (enabled) and the formware moved to the firmware-linux package. The current state is at http://alioth.debian.org/~dsalt-guest/rt2860sta-fw.tar.gz It is still a work in progress, but proves that the idea is feasible. Bug#521553: rt2860 driver contains non-free firmware
I demand that Damyan Ivanov may or may not have written... [snip] Darren Salt is working on porting rt2860 to use the standard firmware loading mechanism. In my understanding, that would allow the driver to remain in the tree (enabled) and the formware moved to the firmware-linux package. The current state is at http://alioth.debian.org/~dsalt-guest/rt2860sta-fw.tar.gz This is now, I believe, completed; at least, it Works For Me. (I think that it's in a suitable form for forwarding upstream, though they may want to retain the option of embedding the firmware. This should be reasonably easy to accomodate.) rt2870 seems to follow much the same pattern. I may yet choose to convert it but, lacking such hardware, I cannot test it. Bug#522955: pidgin: XMPP is the culprit...
Package: pidgin Version: 2.5.5-1 Severity: normal I've done a bit of research, and apparently the crash is caused by XMPP accounts log-in at startup. After running pidgin -n and disabling my XMPP/Jabber account I could log into my other accounts successfully. The bug is already reported and documented in #519112, so it should perharps be merged with it... -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages pidgin depends on: ii gconf2 2.24.0-7 GNOME configuration database syste ii libatk1.0-01.24.0-2 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.9-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.8.6-2+b1The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-31.2.12-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.80-3simple interprocess messaging syst ii libfontconfig1 2.6.0-3 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.3.9-4 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libglib2.0-0 2.20.0-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.22-3 Core GStreamer libraries and eleme ii libgtk2.0-02.14.7-5 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libgtkspell0 2.0.13-2 a spell-checking addon for GTK's T ii libice62:1.0.5-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libpango1.0-0 1.24.0-3 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpurple0 2.5.5-1 multi-protocol instant messaging l ii libsm6 2:1.1.0-2 X11 Session Management library ii libstartup-notificatio 0.9-1 library for program launch feedbac ii libx11-6 2:1.2.1-1 X11 client-side library ii libxss11:1.1.3-1 X11 Screen Saver extension library ii perl 5.10.0-19 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii perl-base [perlapi-5.1 5.10.0-19 minimal Perl system ii pidgin-data2.5.5-1 multi-protocol instant messaging c ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-13 compression library - runtime Versions of packages pidgin recommends: ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-base0.10.22-5 GStreamer plugins from the base ii gstreamer0.10-plugins-good0.10.14-2 GStreamer plugins from the good Versions of packages pidgin suggests: pn evolution-data-server none (no description available) ii gnome-panel 2.24.3-1 launcher and docking facility for ii libsqlite3-0 3.6.12-1 SQLite 3 shared library -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
