Bug#525096: get-config-dir never called if -z $monserver
Package: fai-client Version: 3.2.18 Severity: serious Tags: patch Justification: major component is broken A small code re-arrangement in r5338 caused fai to skip the call to get-config-dir if the following return is taken (from task_confdir in subroutines-linux): 78 # check if monitor server is available 79 [ -z $monserver ] monserver=$SERVER 80 if [ -z $monserver ]; then 81 echo No monitor daemon defined. 82 return 83 fi As of r5338, get-config-dir is called in task_confdir, but _after_ these lines of code. Therefore it will never be called and no config space is fetched. Note that monserver will be empty on softupdates, dirinstalls or installs using a fixed IP configuration, unless set explicitly. Of course, softupdates without an updated config space are quite useless (note that there is _some_ config space available when using a storage other than NFS, its just not up-to-date). A bugfix for this issue is attached and also included in 3.2.18+experimental27. Without the simple fix suggested by Michel, the script is completely broken - though I should not that the script was first deprecated and more recently removed from upstream. Bug#524566: Non-DFSG files distributed in fluidsynth package
David Henningsson wrote: Hello Release team, while working on adopting my first package (fluidsynth), non-DFSG files were discovered in all releases of fluidsynth, both unstable, testing, stable and oldstable. (bug: #524566) The non-DFSG files is a soundfont and some documentation, and is only included in the upstream tarball, so no binary packages are affected. I could use some advice on how to proceed, and possibly some assistance as well. I would propose to fix it first in unstable (by repacking upstream tarball by removing the files an recreating the tarball and using another upstream version in debian/changelog like adding .dfsg.1). If that worked out ok, feel free to do similar things for the version in stable and oldstable. Bug#525136: [python-support] generate an uninstallable package
Le mercredi 22 avril 2009 à 20:14 +0800, LI Daobing a écrit : the arch-any package python-zinnia only provide python2.4-zinnia and python2.5-zinnia, but the arch-all package python-tegaki depends on python2.6- zinnia, so python-tegaki is not installable. There’s no easy way around this. It is not possible to know, while building python-tegaki, that python-zinnia is only available for 2.4 and 2.5. The built python-tegaki package actually works with 2.6, so it adds 2.6 to the list of supported versions – but to work with 2.6, it needs to depend on python2.6-zinnia. However, I think that you are abusing Provides: to come to this result. If no package depends on a specific pythonX.Y-tegaki, you should not add the “Provides: ${python:Provides}” field, and therefore you should not use Python-Depends either. The same goes for python-zinnia, for which the Provides is likely unnecessary. Cheers, -- .''`. Bug#525136: [python-support] generate an uninstallable package
2009/4/22 Josselin Mouette j...@debian.org: Le mercredi 22 avril 2009 à 20:14 +0800, LI Daobing a écrit : the arch-any package python-zinnia only provide python2.4-zinnia and python2.5-zinnia, but the arch-all package python-tegaki depends on python2.6- zinnia, so python-tegaki is not installable. The same goes for python-zinnia, for which the Provides is likely unnecessary. got it, thanks. you can close this bug. -- Best Regards LI Daobing signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#525137: apache2.2-common: could not get next bucket brigade while a client is doing a PUT results in data loss
Package: apache2.2-common Version: 2.2.9-10+lenny2 Severity: grave Justification: causes data loss I've got a bunch of calendar clients configured to download and upload icalendar files to a web location backed by mod_dav. Occasionally there will be an error when one client is uploading the calendar file, which cases the file to be deleted: 10.0.0.1 alice [22/Apr/2009:13:42:12 +0100] GET /cal/bob HTTP/1.1 200 20480 text/calendar - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.21) Gecko/20090302 Lightning/0.9 Thunderbird/2.0.0.21 10.0.0.1 alice [22/Apr/2009:13:39:51 +0100] PUT /cal/bob HTTP/1.1 500 390 text/html - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.21) Gecko/20090302 Lightning/0.9 Thunderbird/2.0.0.21 10.0.0.1 bob [22/Apr/2009:13:44:54 +0100] GET /cal/bob HTTP/1.1 404 289 text/html - Evolution/2.24.5 Unfortunately, the only message that appears in the error log file is the mysterious message: [Wed Apr 22 13:44:53 2009] [error] [client 10.0.0.1] Could not get next bucket brigade [500, #0] IMO, mod_dav should replace files not by truncating them, but by writing out a temporary file and then renaming it over the original file. That way, files can be replaced atomically, and so the failure to write the file does not result in the loss of the data. Unfortunately I have no way to reproduce this problem on demand. From my recollection, it seems to happen about once every two months. I am erring on the side of cauting WRT the bug severity, please feel free to downgrade if you disagree. -- Package-specific info: Loaded Modules: core_module (static) log_config_module (static) logio_module (static) mpm_worker_module (static) http_module (static) so_module (static) actions_module (shared) alias_module (shared) auth_basic_module (shared) authn_file_module (shared) authz_default_module (shared) authz_groupfile_module (shared) authz_host_module (shared) authz_user_module (shared) autoindex_module (shared) cgid_module (shared) dav_module (shared) dav_fs_module (shared) deflate_module (shared) dir_module (shared) env_module (shared) expires_module (shared) fcgid_module (shared) headers_module (shared) mime_module (shared) negotiation_module (shared) perl_module (shared) python_module (shared) rewrite_module (shared) setenvif_module (shared) ssl_module (shared) status_module (shared) suexec_module (shared) userdir_module (shared) Syntax OK -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#519548: patch to fix mondo
Hi Rogério, Sounds all great! I think BTS is the way to go: Just file more bug reports and attach the patches. I'll look over them when I return. However, really most issues with mondo need to be addressed upstream ultimately. So, you could also consider starting to contribute to upstream directly. (But I am happy for you to file via BTS and then I push to upstream.) Best regards, Andree On Tue, 2009-04-21 at 11:42 -0300, Rogério Brito wrote: Dear Andree, On Apr 21 2009, Andree Leidenfrost wrote: Nice to hear from you again! Nice to know that you're maintaining mondo. I think that it would be a nice thing to have it support backups on powerpc's... I have three here that would be nice to be backed up. Thanks a lot for the patch! I thought I had it all covered but not so, obviously. Thanks again. I think that you missed it because the code seems (at least at a first glance) to be much more complicated than necessary, with some duplication of code. Also, it seems that the code could be cleaned up a little. I've revamped my computer over Easter (read: I didn't have a working one) and have thus not been able, unfortunately, to release a new package version with your patch included. I am going away on Thu only to return on 11 May. But I will definitely release a new version with your patch soon after. Nice. I am very glad that mondo is dropping a dependency. :-) Other than that, I would be very happy to receive more patches from you in the future! I will chase some warnings and see what can be fixed. Where would you prefer me to send you patches? Here in Debian's BTS? Directly to your personal e-mail? Bug#522811: CVE-2009-1274 is fixed
I demand that Nico Golde may or may not have written... Darren, you were neither able to reply on #522811, nor to notify the security team of a security issue in xine-lib and you even didn't comment on the bug afterwards that it is already fixed in the version you uploaded nearly at the same time. The bug was still open until now. I sent mail to secur...@debian.org two weeks ago with a complete diff from 1.1.14-6. I have binaries built and waiting for upload. No response... Bug#523953: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Confirmation and more info
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.7.0-1 Severity: normal I also have this bug, on a G35. It only happens when trying to play a video using XV:Overlay, it does not happen with the (default) XV:Textured Video. However, the Textured Video output is useless because it presents significant tearing (yes, even in 2.7.0) so I use the xv:port=83 option for mplayer to force the Overlay output -- which results in X restarting as described here. I must say that previous (pre-2.6.3) versions did not exhibit this bug as I have been using the intel driver for a long time. I upgraded because of the promised bug-fixes, unfortunately it seems there are still significant issues. Another note: I am using EXA since UXA requires a GEM-enabled kernel, and the latest in testing so far is 2.6.26-2. Maybe with 2.6.29+UXA the bug would not manifest itself? Bug#518862: vino-server needs to conflict with older gnome-session
Package: vino Version: 2.24.1-3 Severity: normal I still have this problem with vino 2.24.1-3. However, I investigated further, and I think I found the true cause of the problem. The problem *does* relate to session management, but not in the way previously suggested in this bug. Upgrading to gnome-session 2.26.1-1 from experimental caused this problem to go away. The newer gnome-session fixes various bugs related to the use of AutostartCondition in .desktop files, and vino uses AutostartCondition to only start if /desktop/gnome/remote_desktop/enabled. Thus, I think vino needs to conflict with older versions of gnome-session. I also suspect the change to add --sm-disable should go away; session management should work just fine with a sufficiently recent gnome-session. - Josh Triplett -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages vino depends on: ii gconf2 2.26.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libavahi-client3 0.6.25-1 Avahi client library ii libavahi-common3 0.6.25-1 Avahi common library ii libavahi-glib1 0.6.25-1 Avahi glib integration library ii libc6 2.9-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdbus-1-31.2.12-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.80-3simple interprocess messaging syst ii libgconf2-42.26.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgcrypt111.4.4-2 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglade2-01:2.6.4-1 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.20.1-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome2-02.24.1-2 The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomeui-0 2.24.1-1 The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnutls262.6.5-1 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libgtk2.0-02.16.1-2 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libjpeg62 6b-14 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libnotify1 [libnotify1 0.4.5-1 sends desktop notifications to a n ii libunique-1.0-01.0.8-1 Library for writing single instanc ii libx11-6 2:1.2.1-1 X11 client-side library ii libxdamage11:1.1.1-4 X11 damaged region extension libra ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes3 1:4.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxtst6 2:1.0.3-1 X11 Testing -- Resource extension ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-13 compression library - runtime Versions of packages vino recommends: ii gvfs 1.0.3-4userspace virtual filesystem - ser Versions of packages vino suggests: ii gnome-user-guide [gnome2-user 2.24.2-2 GNOME user's guide ii vinagre 2.24.2-3 VNC client for the GNOME Desktop -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. OoO En ce début d'après-midi ensoleillé du jeudi 16 avril 2009, vers 15:58, Tristan Seligmann mithra...@mithrandi.net disait : It looks like the sqlite3 change that introduced these issues was reverted in a later version; INDEXED is no longer a keyword. Thus, a bumped dependency should take care of this problem; I'll try to track down exactly what version is required later today, and get a fixed version uploaded ASAP. Hi Tristan! Here is the related change: http://www.sqlite.org/cvstrac/chngview?cn=6370 Therefore 3.6.12 should be fine. Bug#514386: proposing adopting the firegpg package (maybe going through NEW again)
this is just a note that i've mailed Joao roughly about this issue weekly for the last six weeks (since March 8) and haven't gotten a response. since firegpg is no longer in debian, i'm planning on filing an ITP to effectively take over the package (and push it through NEW again) sometime in the next few weeks. Joao, if you want to hang on to the package, please let me know. i don't mean this as a hijack! --dkg signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Upcoming release 0.9.28, expected this summer will be based on GTK 2 by default. The current release 0.9.26.2 (which does not yet seem available in debian) can be built for GTK 2 by doing export LCL_PLATFORM=gtk2 before running the make command. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#525144: make-kpgk fails to build kernel (segfaults)
tags 525144 +unreproducible, moreinfo severity 525144 normal thanks Hi, I can not reproduce this. Also, I think there is definitely something going on not reported int he bug report, since the command line in the bug report creates a ./debian directory, and then reports -- nothing to be done. So, the command line was probably different, or there was a ./debian directory left over from before. There is also the issue of make warning that -jN is being forced on submakes, don't know what that is from. I note that man make-kpkg says: , |WARNING: Do NOT set the -j option in MAKEFLAGS directly, this |shall cause the build to fail. Use CONCURRENCY_LEVEL as specified |below. ` though I think the warning ought to be obsolete. If this is a make -j bug, it should be investigated. Bug#462189: wxwindows2.4 is scheduled to be removed
The current status of CTSim is: 1) It's stored in a local git repository. I've made local git branches for porting to wx2.6 and wx2.8 with the main changes being conversions of all strings to Unicode. The source compiles without warnings, but segfaults during GTK font initialization. I've worked a bit with the wx maintainer so took a look at the error, but no solution has been found. I went as fair as to comment out all the application-specific code from the wx startup function, but it still segfaults. I looked for string overflows, but didn't find any. 2) I had the minor changes for Homepage, Vcs, Standards-Version -- but haven't uploaded them since the main issue is that I've not been able to successfully port to wx2.6 or 2.8. Plus, I made those changes to the 2.6 or 2.8 branch and haven't quite figured out how to apply that patch to the wx2.4 (main) branch. 3) I'd welcome help with the wx port and fixing current bugs. If group maintenance is the best way to achieve that, then I'm agreeable to that. Alternately, I can handle all of the sophisticated mathematics in the program, so perhaps one time help on the wx port would be all would be necessary. I prefer the latter, but, as above, I'm agreeable to the former. If it seems helpful, I can tarball my current git development repository and post it on my web server. (Since I'm not that familiar with dealing with branches between a development repository and my master git repository, I've not pushed the wx2.6 and wx2.8 local branches to ctsim's master public repository which is git://git.b9.com/ctsim.git.) If someone could help with pushing my local porting branches to a master git repository, that might be best so that everyone submit patches relative to the master repository. Thanks for your interest, Andreas, Kevin On Apr 20, 2009, at 4:42 PM, Andreas Tille wrote: On Sun, 15 Mar 2009, Moritz Muehlenhoff wrote: What's the status of the port of ctsim to a more recent wxwindows? The package is in danger to be removed, has some easy to fix wishlist bugs with patches, contains outdated (Standards-Version) and incomplete information in debian/control (Homepage, Vcs is missing). You did not answered my question [1] whether you agree to group maintenance. If you would I might try to upgrade the package to current policy and fix the bugs with patches. Bug#518862: vino-server needs to conflict with older gnome-session
Le mercredi 22 avril 2009 à 11:32 -0700, Josh Triplett a écrit : Package: vino Version: 2.24.1-3 Severity: normal I still have this problem with vino 2.24.1-3. However, I investigated further, and I think I found the true cause of the problem. The problem *does* relate to session management, but not in the way previously suggested in this bug. Upgrading to gnome-session 2.26.1-1 from experimental caused this problem to go away. No, the problem does not go away with gnome-session 2.26, that is why upstream is considering adopting the --sm-disable change. The problem is, even if vino-server is not started thanks to AutostartCondition (which works perfectly fine in 2.22), it is restarted if it was saved in the session. Which explains why solely upgrading vino is not enough, you also have to purge it from your session. The reason why you don’t have the issue with 2.26 is that your saved session was not kept across the upgrade. -- .''`. Bug#421942: [pkg-kolab] Bug#524427: kolab-cyrus-imapd: Please update to newer libdb
block 524427 by 421942 thanks Hi, On Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 4:34 AM, Barry deFreese bdefre...@debian.org wrote: Package: kolab-cyrus-imapd Version: 2.2.13-5 Severity: Serious Hi, I will very shortly be removing any libdb versions prior to libdb4.6. Please update the build-depends for kolab-cyrus-imapd to build with libdb-dev or if a specific version is needed, libdb4.6-dev or libdb4.7-dev. This is a good way forward. But the package kolab-cyrus-imapd is made from the cyrus-imapd-2.2 source, plus some kolab specific patches. So #421942 should first be solved. Any news from Debian Cyrus Team about #421942 ? Linked to this, upstream kolab cyrus imapd is version 2.3. Will cyrus-imapd-2.3 hit unstable soon? Bug#525144: make-kpgk fails to build kernel (segfaults)

Bug#525231: X freezes
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2.7.0-1 Severity: grave I am seeing the exact same symptoms of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359392 also since the recent upgrade of xorg/mesa/intel packages in debian (1-2 weeks ago). These symptoms are: - random frequent lockups of xorg (one may still move the mouse cursor but the display is frozen) - this happens with at least UXA and EXA (with and without KMS) - still happens when using xserver-xorg-video-intel version 2.6.3 indicating that these lockups might not be intel only or occur only on interplay with certain mesa/xorg versions. - it appears that the system underneath is still running fine (ssh/ping works) - there is currently no known fix not even a workaround. It does not help to disable 3d (i.e. by using plain metacity instead of compiz) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
