Package: linux-image-2.6.26-2-686
Version: 2.6.26-15lenny3
Severity: serious
Justification: 2

As per summary. In some installations of this kernel, a file
/etc/kernel-img.conf is created with a postinst reference to a non-existent
/sbin/update-grud.

The result is that aptitude keeps reinstalling this package.

On systems where this problem occurs, the /etc/kernal-img.conf file has an
incorrect reference.

live-magic 1.5+lenny1 you uploaded to proposed-updates depends
python-support (= 0.90.0), but Lenny's is 0.8.4.
Rebuilding on pure Lenny environment will solve this, I believe.

Running `apt-get update' after installing ia32-apt-get fails with an
assertion failure. I suspect this is bad enough to be RC (apt-get
update being such a central thing to do); downgrade if you disagree.

If it is possible for you (I haven't access to a powerpc machine with
Unstable), could you rebuild tuxcmd with fpc_2.2.4-3 (as soon it
enters the archive? It was uploaded today by Mazen Neifer but is not
yet in the archive).

Thanks for your help/triage on this bug

Bug#533746: #533746 ia32-apt-get breaks aptitude update

2009-06-20 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Hi,

I'm afraid ia32-apt-get does not yet provide a wrapper for
aptitude. For the time being you have to use apt-get update instead.
In the future running aptitude update on the command line will be
wraped and do the right thing but I'm afraid that upgrading from the
interactive interface can not be made to work with ia32-apt-get
without patching aptitude.

Done. The two patches you need are here:

I'll push these upstream; they might make it into OMPI v1.3.3.

Bug#533767: Missing Pre-Depends: libc6-i386 (= 2.9-17)

2009-06-20 Thread Goswin Brederlow
Package: lib32gcc1
Version: 1:4.4.0-7
Severity: serious

Hi,

lib32gcc1 contains /usr/lib32/libgcc_s.so.1.

In libc6-i386 prior to 2.9-14 /usr/lib32 is a link to
/emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib. lib32gcc1 having a file in /usr/lib32 makes
it impossible to upgrade to any libc6-i386 version prior to 2.9-14. So
it Breaks: libc6-i386 ( 2.9-14).

In libc6-i386 2.9-14 /usr/lib32 was changed to be a directory. Now if
lib32gcc1 is installed prior to upgrading libc6-i386 then
libgcc_s.so.1 will actualy end up in /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib/. Then,
when libc6-i386 is upgraded the file will be lost as it is only
searched in /usr/lib32. /usr/lib32 must be changed to be a directory
prior to installing libc6-i386 = 2.9-14. Therefore you need a
Pre-Depends.

Last the current lib32gcc1 says
  Conflicts: libc6-i386 (= 2.9-15), libc6-i386 (= 2.9-16)
so I assume you may want

of course it is, that's what all this bug is about. bluez 4 has entered unstable
and together with libbluetooth3 (which has the soname bumped as required)

The -dev renaming has happened in March 2007 switching from libbluetooth2-dev to
libbluetooth-dev as the bluetooth API doesn't change often and there's no need
to support two different version at the same time.

Also, hci_local_name and hci_remote_name functions have been deprecated in
August 2008 and they were in the library as defined below since Jan 2005:

int hci_local_name(int dd, int len, char *name, int to)
{
   return hci_read_local_name(dd, len, name, to);
}

int hci_remote_name(int dd, const bdaddr_t *bdaddr, int len, char *name, int to)
{
   return hci_read_remote_name(dd, bdaddr, len, name, to);
}

so I don't really see the problem here.

Bug#533773: /usr/lib32 transition broken

2009-06-20 Thread Goswin Brederlow
Package: libc6-i386
Version: 2.9-17
Severity: grave

Hi,

you actually managed to completly screw the pooch with the /usr/lib32
transition from link to directory and now on existing installations it
remains a link. Now /emul/ia32-linux/[usr/]lib contains files that
belong there and files belonging in /[usr/]lib32 making it hard to
undo the link.

So now you need something like this in postinst:

if [ $(readlink /lib32) = /emul/ia32-linux/lib ]; then

Sorry, I find it highly unlikely that I'd manage to backport these
changes to lenny since they aren't security related.
I do, however, plan on making a backport of the entire package at
backports.org when time allows. That will probably happen once 1.73 hits
testing.

Bug#533753: cupt: overzelous signature checking breaks ia32-apt-get

2009-06-20 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Eugene V. Lyubimkin jackyf.de...@gmail.com writes:

Cupt will need a wrapper so cupt update works right. The wrapper
could also set the option to ignore signature checks other than when
 downloading. So that would work.

Does cupt have an equivalent to

 apt-get.real --no-list-cleanup --no-download update

That just parses the existing Packages files and updates its caches
without fetching any files. This needs to be run by ia32-apt-get after
mangling the Packages files to fit (in the cupt wrapper).
Cupt doesn't have any cache files for indexes, it generates them on the fly by
demand. Does this remove the problem for cupt update (besides the security
problem above which will be fixed)?

It removes the problem but not the need for a wrapper.

The wrapper needs to run

  cups \
  -o Dir::Etc::sourcelist=/etc/apt/$ARCH/sources.list \
  -o Dir::Etc::sourceparts=/etc/apt/$ARCH/sources.list.d \
  -o Dir::State=$LISTDIR/$ARCH \
  -o Dir::Cache=/var/cache/apt/$ARCH \
  -o Apt::Architecture=$ARCH \
  update

for each architecture and then mangle the Packages files for
non-native architectures. I hope cups supports all those options and
passing them on the command line.

the call to hci_remote_name instead of hci_read_remote_name is still there:

Hm, no. You cannot change the API without change the name of the -dev
 package.
 This is an absolute no-go!

And not having hci_remote_name() in bluetooth/hci_lib.h anymore _IS_ an API
 change.

You cannot have both: either provide a compatible API or change the name of
 the -dev package.

In general you are right. Though it was already deprecated to use this
function and your package is the only one still using it AFAIK. There
are no other API changes AFAIK.

Bug#533767: Missing Pre-Depends: libc6-i386 (= 2.9-17)

2009-06-20 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Hi,

small update to the bug report.

The libc6-i386 package screwed up the transition by forgetting to
delete the /lib32 and /usr/lib32 in preinst. So on upgrades all files
remain under /emul/ia32-linux/ and the only thing that changes is the
way dpkg sees them.

So you don't need a Pre-Depends after all. But lib32gcc1 still breaks
upgrades of libc6-i386 ( 2.9-14). You should conflict, break or
depend there.

CVE-2009-0115[0]:
| multipath-tools in SUSE openSUSE 10.3 through 11.0 and SUSE Linux

Bug#530879: TG2 deps: pending ... but elsewhere

2009-06-20 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
Hi, I've just marked these two bugs (missing dependencies on
turbogears2) because I've actually fixed the bug. However, the fixed
packages will be uploaded for the moment to experimental only, and the
fixed development version is now hosted on a different VCS, namely:

  Vcs-Svn: svn://svn.debian.org/python-modules/packages/turbogears2/trunk/
  Vcs-Browser:
http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/python-modules/packages/turbogears2/trunk/

(i.e. Debian Python Modules Team repository)

The upload to unstable will happen as soon as all the (new)
dependencies of TG2 are out of NEW and are proven to be working in
experimental.

Cheers.

Package: python-turbogears2
Version: 2.0-1
Severity: grave

According to the only doc available (i.e. upstream, as the package
does not contain any), installing the python-turbogears2 package does
not provide a working tg2 environment.

Indeed paster --help reports no info whatsoever about tg2:

  z...@usha:~$ dpkg -l python-turbogears2 | tail -n 1
  ii python-turbogears22.0-1
Python-based web framework, version 2
z...@usha:~$ paster --help | grep TurboGe
  z...@usha:~$

while the last grep should output something like:

  TurboGears2:
quickstart Create a new TurboGears 2 project.
tginfo Show TurboGears 2 related projects and their versions

The diagnosis is confirmed by actually trying to use quickstart to
start a tg2 project:

  z...@usha:~$ paster quickstart
Command 'quickstart' not known (you may need to run setup.py egg_info)

same goes for the other expected command, tg-info.

Out of curiosity: how did you the maintainer test the package? I'd
like to know to understand whether I'm doing something wrong on my
side or not. At the current state of the affair, tg2 is unusable, at
least here.

TIA,
Cheers.

2009-06-20 Thread Hendrik Sattler

I'm not sure what you mean, libbluetooth-dev right now is 4.40 which
has headers for libbluetooth3 so I don't see what needs to be

is there any update on this bug?

Same as with obexfs, this is in the queue. Didn't get around asking
  someone for upload, yet.
  It is available at
  http://www.hendrik-sattler.de/debian/pool/main/ussp-push/ussp-push_0.11-1
 .dsc

the call to hci_remote_name instead of hci_read_remote_name is still there:

 /tmp/buildd/ussp-push-0.11/src/obex_socket.c: In function
 'bt_sock_name2bth': /tmp/buildd/ussp-push-0.11/src/obex_socket.c:200:
warning: implicit declaration of function 'hci_remote_name'

 thanks for the dgettable-url :)

Fixed now. Same location.

Thanks

A colleague of mine noticed that the patch for CVE-2007-2721 still
applies to the Lenny version, although it should've been fixed.

Further investigation revealed that the patch has been reverted
by a later upload. I can't tell exactly in which upload, since
shapshot.debian.net lacks the more recent uploads.

The patch was correctly applied in 1.900.1-3:

You seem to have reverted other changes as well, e.g. #514296.

Hi,
your package seems to build-depend on libbluetooth2-dev, however it has been
deprecated in favour of versionless libbluetooth-dev, please update.

Also, building the package I found that it makes uses of a deprecated function
in libbluetooth3, the following trivial patch fixes it:

Bug#533767: Missing Pre-Depends: libc6-i386 (= 2.9-17)

2009-06-20 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Matthias Klose d...@debian.org writes:

 Goswin von Brederlow schrieb:
 Hi,

small update to the bug report.

The libc6-i386 package screwed up the transition by forgetting to
delete the /lib32 and /usr/lib32 in preinst. So on upgrades all files
remain under /emul/ia32-linux/ and the only thing that changes is the
 way dpkg sees them.

 Nice transition :-/

So you don't need a Pre-Depends after all. But lib32gcc1 still breaks
upgrades of libc6-i386 ( 2.9-14). You should conflict, break or
 depend there.

There is nothing special about lib32gcc1, so this has to be changed in all
lib32* packages. Any reason this is only filed for lib32gcc1?

Just because it has already been uploaded with /usr/lib32 and I have
it installed. Made me notice it.

MfG
Goswin

Bug#532574: python-kde4: Upgrading to python-qt4 4.5.1 breaks

2009-06-20 Thread Didier 'OdyX' Raboud
Hi,

FYI, downgrading python-qt4 to 4.4.4-6 and python-sip4 to 4.7.9-2 (testing
versions) somehow solves the problem (temporary workaround for those that get
hitten by the bug).

Regards,

OdyX

2009-06-20 Thread Daniele Di Proietto

Hi,

I'm a debian user with not much experience.
I'm using debian testing (squeeze) with gnome.

Since gnome depends on gnome-system-tools, and gnome-system-tools
depends on gnome-network-admin, if i try to install
network-manager-gnome aptitude tiies to remove gnome.

I need network-manager because i'm using a VPN connection, but i can't
install it.

Am I wrog, or is there a problem with the new version of gnome network
admin(2.22.1-5) in debian?

Bug#533837: strongSwan Two Denial of Service Vulnerabilities

2009-06-20 Thread Ruben Puettmann
Package: strongswan
Severity: serious
Tags: security

hy,

out of the NEW file from the 4.2.16 release:

strongswan-4.2.16
-

- Applying their fuzzing tool, the Orange Labs vulnerability research team
found another two DoS vulnerabilities, one in the rather old ASN.1 parser
of Relative Distinguished Names (RDNs) and a second one in the conversion
of ASN.1 UTCTIME and GENERALIZEDTIME strings to a time_t value.
Malformed X.509 certificate RDNs or timestamps can cause the pluto IKE
  daemon to crash and restart.

I have a software raid array (raid 0 type), with lvm partitions built over the
raid.

My discs have the following structure:
/dev/sda1 == /boot
/dev/sda2 == first raid device
/dev/sdb1 == unused space
/dev/sdb2 == second raid device.

orion:/home/liorc# dmraid -r
/dev/sdb: isw, isw_cjhfigcfig, GROUP, ok, 488397166 sectors, data@ 0
/dev/sda: isw, isw_cjhfigcfig, GROUP, ok, 488397166 sectors, data@ 0

(LVM structure attached in the end of the bug report).

With kernel 2.6.26-2, and dmraid 1.0.0.rc13-2, the system boots fine (dmraid
builds the raid array successfully):

[ 89.648985] md0: setting max_sectors to 128, segment boundary to 32767
[ 89.648985] raid0: looking at sda2

[ 89.648985] raid0 : nb_zone is 1.
[ 89.648985] raid0 : Allocating 8 bytes for hash.

However, when I upgrade to dmraid 1.0.0.rc15-8, the system fails to boot.
Also, if I don't upgrade dmraid (and still use 1.0.0.rc13-2), but upgrade to
any newer kernel (2.6.29-1, 2.6.29-2, 2.6.30-1), boot fails with the following
error:

Assembling all MD arrays...
mdadm: no devices found for /dev/md0
Failure: failed to assemble all arrays.
Incorrect metadata area header checksum
Volume group vg0 not found.

I also noticed that 'dmraid -ay' produces the following kernel error:

[ 1711.937067] device-mapper: table: 253:2: striped: Couldn't parse stripe
destination
[ 1711.937072] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table

Please tell me if there is more information I can provide that could be of
help.

Thanks.
Lior.

Bug#533773: /usr/lib32 transition update

2009-06-20 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Hi,

after talking it through on irc Clint Adams decided to ignore the
current broken transition introduced in libc6-i386 2.9-14 and to do it
right in 2.9-18. So far only fakeroot, gnu-efi and gcc-4.4 have
uploaded a new version placing files in /usr/lib32 while all the
others still block updates. So there is a high chance nobody
(important :) has yet installed the borken version.

For those that haven't yet looked into the matter here is the
situation in a few words:

On amd64 and ia64 32bit libraries have been placed in
/emul/ia32-linux/lib and /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib for historic
reasons. /lib32 and /usr/lib32 had been linked to the respective lib
dirs in /emul/ia32-linux. For space used on / reasons and for
compliance with the FHS it has now been decided to place 32bit
libraries in /lib32 and /usr/lib32 directly. libc6-i386 2.9-14 made
this change but failed to take into account that dpkg will not replace
symlinks with directories but preserves them.

So here is what needs to happen. In libc6-i386 in preinst the
following must be done:

  if [ $(readlink /lib32) = /emul/ia32-linux/lib ]; then
rm /lib32
  fi

  if [ $(readlink /usr/lib32) = /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib ]; then
rm /usr/lib32
  fi

All other packages on the other hand need to ensure they are unpacked
after libc6-i386 preinst was run, that means adding:

  Pre-Depends: libc6-i386 (= 2.9-18)

This includes the 3 sources that have already uploaded. As for the
transition itself: Files previously placed in /emul/ia32-linux/lib must
now be placed in /lib32 and files previously placed in
/emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib must now be placed in /usr/lib32.

MfG
Goswin

If the daemon is already running, the init script fails, possibly

As per policy 9.3.2., this should be changed to a no-op if the

I am offline right now, but could send a patch if you wanted. On the
other hand, it's trivial…

Yes.

The fix uploaded requires you to set an environment variable to
avoid the segfault.

After uploading, the fakeroot maintainer and OpenMPI upstream proposed
a better fix -- one that doesn't require you to set a magic variable.
I plan to do another upload of OpenMPI with the upstream fix instead
of mine. Then it will be truly fixed. Until then, you'll need the
magic environment variable.
