Bug#535323: libcln-dev: inappropriately ships /usr/share/info/dir.gz

2009-07-01 Thread Richard B. Kreckel

Aaron M. Ucko wrote:

libcln-dev inappropriately ships /usr/share/info/dir.gz, leading to a
file conflict with the latest version of pinfo, not to mention checksum
mismatches on account of its autogeneration. The last time I
encountered such a bug (back in 2006), it was symptomatic of using old,
broken versions of automake, per #214769; however, libcln-dev has only
recently gained the file, so it's likely that the recent install-info
transition somehow threw it (or some other build system component) off.

At any rate, could you please leave it out?

Out of curiosity, I just re-built cln_1.3.0~beta1, which I've uplodaed
two months ago and which did not contain the dir.gz file. It turns out
that the re-built package does contain that file.

I can and will work around the problem, but this does not look like the
right place to fix it. I don't know which build system component is the
culprit, though.

They are the same source file. Fixed in svn. I could have sworn I did

Package: php5
Version: 5.2.10
Severity: critical

PHP provides CLI interface and does not require a web server. It also works
just fine with other web servers and web software which may be installed.
Nevertheless the package lists "Requires: apache2-mpm-prefork" which is
plain wrong.

The use of that tag causes apache2 to force-install which unless manual
overrides are added, breaks all other software which needs port 80 but
starts after apache2 in the boot sequence.

Bug#535434: ia32-apt-get freezes system when aptitude update is run when 'None' mode is selected

2009-07-01 Thread Edward Guldemond
This also applies to the apt-get wrapper. In 'None' mode, it does not
append the .real suffix either.

The fix is similar, so I've not included a patch for it.

Bug#535434: ia32-apt-get freezes system when aptitude update is run when 'None' mode is selected

2009-07-01 Thread Edward Guldemond
Package: ia32-apt-get
Version: 20
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

ia32-apt-get freezes the system by exhausting all entries in the
process table when aptitude update is run when ALLOWED is set to none.
It does this because the wrapper does not append .real to the called
name when calling the real aptitude, causing the wrapper to call
itself over and over again until there is no more room in the process
table.

Attached is a patch that fixes this.

Bug#529751: gkrellxmms2 for libxmmsclient5 available in git

Hi,

I just tried to compile and use the work-in-progress version of
gkrellxmms2 from:

http://git.xmms.se/?p=gxmms2.git;a=tree;hb=HEAD

It just worked. It would be very nice, if you could update the debian
package with this wip git-head so that it becomes useable again.

Thanks a lot

Bug#533929: rjava: FTBFS: ERROR: configuration failed for package 'rJava'

2009-07-01 Thread Dirk Eddelbuettel

Lucas,

Could you please try again? rjava just built fine in my (i386) chroot.

There were some recent changes in the Java toolchain so I think it is a good
idea to try again.

Dirk

   * Non-maintainer upload.
   * Fix FTBFS with newer blt-dev (Closes: #521078):
  - blt-dev is now built against Tcl/Tk 8.5, so building this package
against Tcl/Tk 8.4 breaks badly.
  - Switch to tk8.5-dev in Build-Depends accordingly.
  - Mimick what was done previously and add tcl8.4-dev and tk8.4-dev to
Build-Conflicts.
  - Bump the versioned B-D on blt-dev to 2.4z-4.1 to make sure the
build is tried with a blt-dev version built against Tcl/Tk 8.5.

When installing on etch package fails to configure. This happens on a standard
etch install,
and in a pbuilder environment when it get's pulled in as a dependancy which is
how I spotted it.

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of
other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that

Bug#535367: It's a debhelper bug

2009-07-01 Thread Daniel Schepler
reassign 535367 debhelper
retitle 535367 dh_install: Doubles top-level directories
thanks

After a bit more investigation on the bug, it appears that it's dh_install
that's installing debian/tmp/usr to debian/sgml-base/usr/usr.  I also see the
same thing happening in a build of debiandoc-sgml (at least). Both have "usr"
by itself in a line of *.install, which obviously must have been considered
valid up until recently.

Bug#535386: php5 force-installing apache2-mpm-prefork

2009-07-01 Thread amos
Package: php5
Version: 5.2.10
Severity: critical

PHP provides CLI interface and does not require a web server. It also works
just fine with other web servers and web software which may be installed.
Nevertheless the package lists "Requires: apache2-mpm-prefork" which is
plain wrong.

The use of that tag causes apache2 to force-install which unless manual
overrides are added, breaks all other software which needs port 80 but
starts after apache2 in the boot sequence.

Bug#535361: dhcp-probe doesn't find network interfaces

2009-07-01 Thread Michel Blockelet
Subject: dhcp-probe doesn't find network interfaces
Package: dhcp-probe
Version: 1.3.0-2
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

When starting dhcp_probe (via init.d script or not), I get in syslog :

> dhcp_probe[17563]: couldn't determine IP addr for interface eth1
> dhcp_probe[17563]: exiting

By hacking the C code, I found that dhcp_probe sees four interfaces
named "lo", "", "", and "#002" !...

I don't know how to fix this bug.

Bug#535172: dhcp-probe: package doesn't install

The package doesn't install for me too (using kernel 2.6.29-2-amd64).

Message in syslog :

A quick look at the postinst script shows that it tries to use too much
magic ...
It tries to search for an interface with an IP configured, and uses many
cuts on ifconfig output to find it. These cuts don't work. :)

> IFCONFIG='/sbin/ifconfig'
> [...]
> interfaces=`$IFCONFIG | grep eth | awk '{ print $1 }';`

The postinst script should maybe use cleaner ways to get informations
about the network cards :)

2009-07-01 Thread Luca Tettamanti
On Wed, Jul 1, 2009 at 3:54 AM, Robert Millan wrote:
> Please could you test if this patch helps?

It doesn't work. The output of your patched kernel is unchanged while
vesafb picks a different memory size:

vesafb: framebuffer at 0xe000, mapped to 0xc2001010, using
1536k, total 16384k
vesafb: mode is 1024x768x8, linelength=1024, pages=0
vesafb: scrolling: redraw
vesafb: Pseudocolor: size=0:0:0:0, shift=0:0:0:0

The color data is still wrong though. screen_info is copied from boot
params, which your patched kernel dumps correctly... wtf?

Bug#535305: Reverting to old function fixes the problem

2009-07-01 Thread Fredrik Tolf
For what it's worth, I managed to fix the problem by
changing
/usr/share/common-lisp/source/common-lisp-controller/post-sysdef-install.lisp
so that the line, in the GET-OWNER-AND-MODE function as defined for SBCL,
which, in the new version of c-l-c (6.18), reads
  (sb-impl::native-file-kind (namestring directory)))
instead reads
  (sb-unix:unix-file-kind (namestring directory)))
as was the case in the previous version (6.17).

Maybe this change had to happen because of some newer version of SBCL in
unstable?

What I'm not getting is how this slipped past the HANDLER-CASE form
in /usr/lib/sbcl/install-clc.lisp.

Should be every currently available release, I'm currently
working with upstream on a better fix.

Package: mapserver
Severity: important

Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) ids were
published for mapserver.

CVE-2009-0839[0]:
| Stack-based buffer overflow in mapserv.c in mapserv in MapServer 4.x
| before 4.10.4 and 5.x before 5.2.2, when the server has a map with a
| long IMAGEPATH or NAME attribute, allows remote attackers to execute
| arbitrary code via a crafted id parameter in a query action.

CVE-2009-0840[1]:
| Heap-based buffer underflow in the readPostBody function in cgiutil.c
| in mapserv in MapServer 4.x before 4.10.4 and 5.x before 5.2.2 allows
| remote attackers to have an unknown impact via a negative value in the
| Content-Length HTTP header.

CVE-2009-0841[2]:
| Directory traversal vulnerability in mapserv.c in mapserv in MapServer
| 4.x before 4.10.4 and 5.x before 5.2.2, when running on Windows with
| Cygwin, allows remote attackers to create arbitrary files via a ..
| (dot dot) in the id parameter.

CVE-2009-0842[3]:
| mapserv in MapServer 4.x before 4.10.4 and 5.x before 5.2.2 allows
| remote attackers to read arbitrary invalid .map files via a full
| pathname in the map parameter, which triggers the display of partial
| file contents within an error message, as demonstrated by a
| /tmp/sekrut.map symlink.

CVE-2009-0843[4]:
| The msLoadQuery function in mapserv in MapServer 4.x before 4.10.4 and
| 5.x before 5.2.2 allows remote attackers to determine the existence of
| arbitrary files via a full pathname in the queryfile parameter, which
| triggers different error messages depending on whether this pathname
| exists.

CVE-2009-1176[5]:
| mapserv.c in mapserv in MapServer 4.x before 4.10.4 and 5.x before
| 5.2.2 does not ensure that the string holding the id parameter ends in
| a '\0' character, which allows remote attackers to conduct
| buffer-overflow attacks or have unspecified other impact via a long id
| parameter in a query action.

CVE-2009-1177[6]:
| Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in maptemplate.c in mapserv in
| MapServer 4.x before 4.10.4 and 5.x before 5.2.2 have unknown impact
| and remote attack vectors.

Please coordinate with the security team to prepare packages for the
stable releases.

If you fix the vulnerabilities please also make sure to include the
CVE ids in your changelog entry.

Bug#535323: libcln-dev: inappropriately ships /usr/share/info/dir.gz

2009-07-01 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Package: libcln-dev
Version: 1.3.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 6.6(4)

libcln-dev inappropriately ships /usr/share/info/dir.gz, leading to a
file conflict with the latest version of pinfo, not to mention checksum
mismatches on account of its autogeneration.

Thanks!

The patch is trivial, add libboost-graph-dev to the build dependencies.
Once that done and #535284 fixed, deal.ii builds fine.

Bug#534975: openldap fails to build on ia64

2009-07-01 Thread Matt Kassawara
An issue exists with test034-translucent when building 2.4.15 with PIE
(hardening). Fixed upstream as per post below. Either obtain a newer
upstream release of OpenLDAP or disable PIE (comment out 'export
DEB_BUILD_HARDENING=1' in debian/rules).  Likely a duplicate of bug #524770.

Bug#535318: python-sparse: Crashes and looses data, when try A.put(val, a, b) on existing matrix

2009-07-01 Thread Oz N
Package: python-sparse
Version: 1.0.1-5+b1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I installed python-and often when I ran code involvind it, it causes
segmentation faults.

I hope this helps,
Thanks, Oz.
here's an example which causes that:

from numpy import *
from pysparse import *
m = 4
n = 3
nodec=0
A = spmatrix.ll_mat(m*n, m*n)
H = 3
V = 2
a = [0,0,0,] #row index
b = [0,1,n] #column index
val = [H+V, -H, -V] #node value

w=m*n

nodec=0
w=m*n
bottomr=w-n
for i in range(w):
for j in range(w):
if (nodec)=0: #check necessary to make sure we don't
#try puting north neighbours for the top row of nodes
b.append(nodec-n)
a.append(nodec-1)#row index
val.append(-V)
nodec=nodec+1

A.put(val,a,b)
print A

Also a log of crash:

Out[20]: [1, 3, 5]

In [21]: b
Out[21]: [2, 3, 5]

In [22]: c

convey the idea the problem is in Depends – which happens with some
packages — and let's make all those bugreports get the same title.)

You broke my series, and you typoed the package name! :)

reassign 535300 xserver-xorg-video-intel

notfound 535300 2:2.7.99.1-2

thanks

I downgraded drm-snapshot to the version in unstable and it didn't make
any difference. I then downgraded xserver-xorg-video-intel to the
version in unstable and everything is OK again!

So I guess the problem started when

2009-06-19 00:28:54 upgrade xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg 2:2.7.99.1-2
2:2.7.99.901-2

and I simply hadn't restarted my system since then, despite what the
'uptime' command tells me. Maybe it doesn't handle suspend/hibernation
very well. :)

Package: libdrm-intel1
Version: 2.4.11+git+20090630+de1ed01-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Since I started X this morning, gvim has become unusably slow. It takes several
seconds to redraw its window when resized/exposed, during which X is eating
100% of the CPU.

I'm filing this against drm-snapshot because it's the only X-related package
that I have upgraded since the 19th of June. But please reassign it elsewhere
if it belongs somewhere else. :)

This looks like even though there was a source code modification, the
previous issue was not fixed at all. That is, any attack that would have
worked before the fix, will still work after the fix.

However, Fedora FEDORA-2009-3383 at least claims a fix for CVE-2009-0840,
so a new CVE is probably in order to "signal" to admins that they have
another issue to handle.

Use CVE-2009-2281 for the "new" issue. What versions are affected by
this?

We are in the middle of a transition. One of the changes is the location
of the standards library which moves from _/usr/lib/ocaml/$(OCAML_ABI)/_
to _/usr/lib/ocaml/_.

Sks FTBFS because the currently used path is no longer correct
(/usr/lib/ocaml/*/native-archs). It should rely on ocamlvars.mk (which can
be found in dh-ocaml) or on `ocamlc -where`. The fix is trivial.

BTW, why do you `cat /usr/lib/ocaml/*/native-archs`? It seems totally
useless and appears to be the only thing that caused this FTBFS.

Cheers,

This is on hppa, but it should fail the same way on all archs when tried

Same reasoning, same solution as e.g. 535230 for mpi. Get rid of \ and

Bug#535267: sks: FTBFS with latest ocaml-nox

2009-07-01 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: sks
Version: 1.1.0-5
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS

Hi Peter,

it looks like ocaml-nox dropped one of the native-archs file, thus
leading to the FTBFS or your package:
| # Slightly outdated:
| cy...@talisker:/tmp$ apt-file show ocaml-nox|grep native-archs
| ocaml-nox: /usr/lib/ocaml/3.11.0/native-archs
| ocaml-nox: /usr/lib/ocaml/native-archs
|
| # With the package on the mirrors:
| cy...@talisker:/tmp$ dpkg --contents ./ocaml-nox_3.11.1-2_i386.deb|grep
native-archs
| -rw-r--r-- root/root69 2009-06-24 13:19 ./usr/lib/ocaml/native-archs

Build log excerpt:
| dh_testdir
| cat /usr/lib/ocaml/*/native-archs
| cat: /usr/lib/ocaml/*/native-archs: No such file or directory
| make: *** [build-stamp] Error 1
| dpkg-buildpackage: error: debian/rules build gave error exit status 2

See https://buildd.debian.org/~luk/status/package.php?p=sks&suite=unstable

The changelog doesn't say anything about that, so I'm X-Debbugs-Cc'ing
the ocaml maintainers, so that they can clarify that.

Mraw,
KiBi.

Bug#535190: Closing 535190

2009-07-01 Thread Goswin von Brederlow

as it seems to have been a typo error in the config I'm closing this
bug. The part about apt-get segfaulting is cloned and reassigned to
apt so that part remains open.

MfG
Goswin
