Package: libcln-dev
Version: 1.3.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 6.6(4)

libcln-dev inappropriately ships /usr/share/info/dir.gz, leading to a
file conflict with the latest version of pinfo, not to mention checksum
mismatches on account of its autogeneration. The last time I
encountered such a bug (back in 2006), it was symptomatic of using old,
broken versions of automake, per #214769; however, libcln-dev has only
recently gained the file, so it's likely that the recent install-info
transition somehow threw it (or some other build system component) off.

At any rate, could you please leave it out?

Thanks!

Bug#535538: upgrade-reports: Upgrading the kernel impossible when hda is redirected to hde

2009-07-02 Thread Micronius
Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: grave

Justification: renders package unusable

When I enter

apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

this does work for almost all packages but not for upgrading the kernel.
Instead
of using my own /grub/menu.lst the upgrade-procedure uses its own commands,
especially

Bug#531213: gscan2pdf: Hangs saving files with latest imagemagick

On May 30, 2009 11:57pm, Cameron Hutchison wrote:

When I downgraded package perlmagick from 7:6.5.1.0-1.1 to
7:6.3.7.9.dfsg2-1+b1 (which also required installing libmagick10), the
save functionality returned and the problem was fixed.

I can't reproduce this. I installed 7:6.5.1.0-1.1 and am able to save OK.

Please attach a test image that I can import and which hangs gscan2pdf on
saving.

Also, is the
Depends: ia32-libs

and the current (transitional) ia32-libs is a metapackage with a _lot_
of dependencies? And probably not all of them are needed for X/glx?!

Given the problem only occurs only in experimental, it is not possible
to do anything on the glibc side.

Adding Break: wine (<= 1.1.22-2) (assuming it will be fixed in this
version) means wine in unstable won't be installable in unstable
anymore.

I think we should ignore the problem if he don't hit unstable, or
alternatively a fixed version of wine should be uploaded immediately
to *unstable*.

Bug#535218: apt-get / aptitude segfault when Cache-Limit is too small

2009-07-02 Thread Drew Parsons

> But apt should increases its default size so most people can stick
> with that even with ia32-apt-get installed.

Aye, I think that's the important thing. The "common user" will be
terrified by the warnings or segfaults, and at the same time they are
well likely to be wanting ia32-libs-tools installed, for the sake of
wine and maybe skype.

Hard to say without debugging symbols (it seems the rebuild didn't help).

Can you install librarian0, rarian-compat and rarian-ddeb from
http://emilio.pozuelo.org/~deb/ and try again? The sha256 checksums are:

I'm using Nexuiz 2.4. Since version 2.5 was released, Nexuiz instructs me to
upgrade to 2.5 now. This appears not only in the menu, but also during the
game. This competes with an advertisement in annoyance.

I cannot duplicate this on my system at the present time. I believe
your build attempt occured during a time of transition in the Haskell
platform, and was a result of breakage elsewhere in it that no longer
exists. Therefore, closing.

Package: ia32-apt-get
Version: 18
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

That package was pulled in automatically by libs-i386 and it breaks
nearly everything:
- aptitude UI with upgrading does not work, redownloads everything again
  and again
- changing /etc/apt/sources.list is not carried over to whereever that
package saves it dummy hosed sources.list (in /e/apt/{386,amd64})
- calling apt-get update from the command line (recommended in another
bug report) finishes in a core dump
  /usr/bin/apt-get: line 46: 30757 Segmentation fault apt-get.real
--no-list-cleanup --no-download update
- telling the user *ONLY* in the NEWS file that we have to pin i386
packages otherwise they instead of the native ones will be installed
is *definitely* not enough. I have NOT decided to include i386 package
repositories in my sources.list, if ia32-apt-get adds that automatically
it has to make sure that this does not happen.

Is this a joke package? It is not April fool's day!

If you prefer I will open grave bugs for each of the above.

I cannot duplicate this on my system at the present time. I believe
your build attempt occured during a time of transition in the Haskell
platform, and was a result of breakage elsewhere in it that no longer
exists. Therefore, closing.

Bug#531271: menmosyne problems in unstable

2009-07-02 Thread Robert Lemmen
hi folks,

i could reproduce at least one of your problems in unstable, but it
seems to have disappeared after some new uploads of python packaged that
mnemosyne depends on. could you have a try again after an update of your
system and tell me if the problem still persists?

deniz: could you run mnemosyne from a shell, perhaps that yields a bit
more output.

thanks robert

As discussed this almost always built fine in the pbuilders [1] but I
acknowledge that the need for a working Java toolchain may make it
fragile. That is, however, not a bug in rJava and I intend to close this in a
while unless we get something reproducible.

Bug#521699: nvidia-glx: same problem here

2009-07-02 Thread Sven
Package: nvidia-glx
Version: 185.18.14-1
Severity: normal

I am seeing the same problem here with version 185.18.14-1. The X server
crashes after showing the nvidia logo and there is nothing useful in the
server logs.

I've tried the proposed changes from message #15, but that did not solve
the problem for me.

Bug#535486: [Pkg-ia32-libs-maintainers] Bug#535486: ia32-libs breaks multiarch buildd and adds useless dependency

What exactly did you need from ia32-libs? You build-depend on (only libs):

  libx11-6, libxext6, libgl1-mesa-glx, libxrandr2, libice6, libsm6,
  libfontconfig1, libxi6, libxcursor1, libxinerama-dev

That looks a bit odd to me. I see the source just unpacks the binaries
so I guess you need the libs for the shlibs files. But then why
libxinerama-dev?

Which of those do you actually need in 32bit to build?
>From looking at the package I see that there is fglrx-glx and
fglrx-glx-ia32:

Package: fglrx-glx
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.2.5), libxext6, fglrx-driver (= 1:9-5-1)

Package: fglrx-glx-ia32
Depends: ia32-libs (>= 2.4), lib32gcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1), libc6-i386 (>= 2.2),
fglrx-driver (= 1:9-5-1)

With ia32-apt-get this becomes:

PackagePackage: fglrx-glx-ia32
Depends: ia32-libx11-6, ia32-libxext6, lib32gcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1), fglrx-driver (=
1:9-6-2)

So I guess it is only those 2 libraries you need.

Do me one favour and try this with ia32-apt-get installed:
WARNING: screws with the diversions!

echo 'fglrx-glx +' >>/etc/ia32-libs-tools/rename.list
apt-get update
apt-get remove fglrx-glx-ia32
dpkg-divert --package ia32-fglrx-glx --divert
/usr/lib32/fglrx/diversions/libGL.so.1.2 --rename /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1.2
dpkg-divert --package ia32-fglrx-glx --divert
/usr/lib32/fglrx/diversions/libGL.so.1 --rename /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1
apt-get install ia32-fglrx-glx

Does 32bit GL work with that?

How do you feel about not building fglrx-glx-ia32 on amd64 and
recommending ia32-fglrx-glx instead? It would need a little patch to
the preinst and postrm for the diversion handling. Something like:

  if [ "$(dpkg --print-architecture)" = "i386" ]; then
LIBDIR=/usr/lib
PKG=fglrx-glx
  else
LIBDIR=/usr/lib32
PKG=ia32-fglrx-glx
  fi
  dpkg-divert --package $PKG --divert $LIBDIR/fglrx/diversions/libGL.so.1.2
--rename $LIBDIR/libGL.so.1.2

but only in the i386 deb.

Alternatively, not sure yet if that is the right way to go, add a
preinst.amd64 and postrm.amd64 (same for ia64?) file to
DEBIAN/control. ia32-apt-get would then substitude that file when
unpacking the maintainer scripts on amd64.

Or as thrid option I (or fglrx-glx) could include a hook for
ia32-apt-get to rewrite the preinst/postrm scripts on the fly while
unpacking.

> 2) While ia32-apt-get is installed and replaces parts of the system it also
> wants to have more entropy on building keys in pbuilder, which needs user

It just needs a source for random bits. Without the user as source it
might take longer but buildds must have other sources too. Otherwise
things like ssh or https wouldn't work.

> Cheers.

MfG
Goswin

PS: fglrx-glx-ia32 needs to Pre-Depends: libc6 (>= 2.9-18) if you keep it

PPS: ia32-libs has not worked right for buildds making it neccessary
to split out libc6-i386, lib32z1, lib32bz1, lib32asound,
lib32ncurses5, lib32readline5. That Build-Depends was never quite
right.

This is due to the following change in xutils 1:7.3+11:

  * Remove the dependency of xutils against xutils-dev, it was only useful
for transitional purpose in Etch, closes: #418123.

The current plan is to reintroduce the dependency for the lenny release,
then restore this change soon afterwards. At that point, this bug will
become RC.

Actually, the relevant part is before that:
ifneq (,$(filter parallel=%,$(DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS)))
NUMJOBS = $(patsubst parallel=%,%,$(filter
parallel=%,$(DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS)))
MAKEFLAGS += -j$(NUMJOBS)
endif

You seem to be missing some dependencies between your rules.

zope doesn't take a long time to build. I don't think that it's
necessary to fix the dependencies: just disable parallel building
support.

Just like the last time there are build failures on the buildd's which are
difficult to resolve. Nico is working on this DSA, perhaps you can contact

Package: ia32-apt-get
Version: 20
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

ia32-apt-get freezes the system by exhausting all entries in the
process table when aptitude update is run when ALLOWED is set to none.
It does this because the wrapper does not append .real to the called
name when calling the real aptitude, causing the wrapper to call
itself over and over again until there is no more room in the process
table.

Attached is a patch that fixes this.

Package: sfftobmp
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

Due to the recently-introduced package boost-defaults [1], the
unversioned Boost -dev packages changed from Boost version 1.34.1 to
version 1.38.0.

You package now fails to build due to that change. Specifically, you
will need to link against "-mt" variants of the boost libraries.

Upstream stopped building separate single- and multi-threaded variants
of all libraries and Debian followed suit as of 1.37.0. The
single-threaded variant was named, e.g. "-lboost_regex" while the
multi-threaded variant was suffixed with "-mt", i.e. named
"-lboost_regex-mt". Your package needs to change its linker
arguments.

Build Log excerpt:

Function `basename' implicitly converted to pointer at molecule.c:338

This is often due to a missing function prototype definition.
For more information, see [2].

Though it is guaranteed that this codepath will cause a segfault on certain
architectures, it is not guaranteed that this codepath would ever be executed
(e.g., if the returned pointer is never dereferenced). However, this bug
does prevent the ia64 buildd from successfully building this package, resulting
in a practical FTBFS issue and warranting the serious severity.

The attached patch assumes the GNU implementation of basename() is
desired. The same affect could be produced by adding -D_GNU_SOURCE to
the CFLAGS. If the POSIX basename semantics are preferred, you'll
probably want to #include instead.

Thanks for these explanations, Steve (I've managed to get boost on
kfreebsd-* and I wondered a bit why linking failed, and first thought
our packages were botched somehow). I've prepared a fixed package
uploaded to DELAYED/3 to fix that. Tim: you can incorporate the changes
and do an MU in the meanwhile, or ask me to cancel it if you would like
more time to do that yourself. But given there was no answer on this bug
report yet, I chose “action by default”. :)

Bug#535486: ia32-libs breaks multiarch buildd and adds useless dependency

2009-07-02 Thread Patrick Matthäi
Package: ia32-libs
Version: 2.7
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello,

while trying to build fglrx on amd64 again (it needs ia32-libs on amd64) it
still fails.

1) There is still a dependency on ia32-apt-get, which replaces dpkg-deb etc
with it is own version, this isn't realy nice for a buildd, also for users who
just needs some packages, I recommend to downgrade this dependency to suggest.

2) While ia32-apt-get is installed and replaces parts of the system it also
wants to have more entropy on building keys in pbuilder, which needs user
interaction - that is a no go for a automagic build.

Cheers.

could you provide the exact command that your archive rebuild uses to
build a package? if you take a look at debian/rules, there are several
more commands in unpack-stamp than just the 'tar xfz'. According to your
logfile, the build-arch-stamp and patch-stamp targets are executed in
the middle of the unpack-stamp target.

I'm unable to reproduce that bug in a clean amd64 debian/unstable
pbuilder chroot.

here's the relevant parts of debian/rules:

> ZOPE  := zope$(ZVER)
> PACKAGE   := zope$(ZVER)

according to your logfile, the build system ran target build-arch-stamp
just in between of 'tar xfz $(ZBASE).tgz' and 'mv $(BASE) z':

Bug#535323: libcln-dev: inappropriately ships /usr/share/info/dir.gz

The .dirs file just indicates which directories dh_installdirs will
create ahead of time, so I wouldn't expect editing it to make any
difference. Instead, I would suggest one of two approaches, both of
which require editing debian/rules's binary-arch target:

- Leave the infodir setting off from the call to make install, and
  instead list usr/share/info/cln* in debian/libcln-dev.install.

- Explicitly rm debian/tmp/usr/share/info/dir* after running make
  install.

Thanks!

Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.96+20090628-1 (unstable)
Severity: important
System: Debian Sid
Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-rc8-686 (kernel-archive.buildserver.net/debian-kernel)
Processor: Pentium M, 852GM/855GM

I am using KMS with module i915 modeset=1.
When booting with the latest version of grub-pc (20090628), after loading
module i915 modeset=1 the booting process
is no longer shown on the screen until gdm is loaded.
VT screens 1-6 are all showing the gdm login screen although without mouse
pointer and no keyboard input.
Only VT screen 7 works normally.

When booting with version grub-pc_1.96+20090611-1, the screen is set to high
resolution and KMS works perfectly.

Regards,
Jos van Wolput

25165824 is the default value if it isn't set anywhere and usualy is
enough to handle for example unstable. But when you include multiple
releases or other apt repositories in your sources.list you quickly
hit that limit. Many people have therefore already configured a higher
setting somewhere.

Now, consider what happens if the user has set a limit and
ia32-libs-tools would also set one. Which one would apt take now? What
if it still isn't enough? I think that would do more harm then good in
the long run.

But apt should increases its default size so most people can stick
with that even with ia32-apt-get installed.

MfG
Goswin

PS: You are lucky though. Other people just get a segfault instead of
the message to increase the limit.

I have not set APT::Cache-Limit anywhere. It's not mentioned in any

Bug#534874: libc6-i386 should break nvidia-glx-ia32 and nvidia-libvdpau-ia32

2009-07-02 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Hi,

This will be fixed in 185.18.14-2. A patch for the transition of
nvidia-graphics-drivers has already been committed (#534873).

If you add a Breaks, do it for these two packages:
nvidia-glx-ia32
nvidia-libvdpau-ia32
(the package was split recently) in its current version 185.18.14-1

Bug#535323: libcln-dev: inappropriately ships /usr/share/info/dir.gz

2009-07-02 Thread Richard B. Kreckel

Richard B. Kreckel wrote:
I can and will work around the problem, but this does not look like the
right place to fix it. I don't know which build system component is the
culprit, though.

I removed usr/share/info from libcln-dev.dirs and provided a
libcln-dev.info containing usr/share/info/cln.info*. But the package
still contains usr/share/info/dir.gz. Oh, Why?
