Bug#493915: opencv: diff for NMU version 1.0.0-6.2

2009-07-10 Thread Raphael Geissert
Hi Thomas,

On Thursday 09 July 2009 16:17:56 Thomas Viehmann wrote:
 Hi,

so to honor Raphael's initiative I have prepared an NMU for opencv
(versioned as 1.0.0-6.2). Unfortunately, I do not own camera hardware,
so an uploader should verify that things still work (e.g. use the
 python examples from opencv-doc).

Great, thanks :).

I tried to build the package but failed because of some changes that could not
be applied, could you please send me the the compressed diff to avoid any
kind of spacing destruction?

By the way, I took a look at upstream's vcs, and it looks like they've finally
fixed it:

This is due to the following change in xutils 1:7.3+11:

  * Remove the dependency of xutils against xutils-dev, it was only useful
for transitional purpose in Etch, closes: #418123.

The current plan is to reintroduce the dependency for the lenny release,
then restore this change soon afterwards. At that point, this bug will
become RC.

Oh. I thought I had tested it. Maybe if you cut the debian/changelog
part? Unfortunately, my mail did not make the bug reports and as I work
in /tmp to develop patches I do not have a copy any more, sorry.

By the way, I took a look at upstream's vcs, and it looks like they've finally
fixed it:

http://opencvlibrary.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/opencvlibrary/trunk/opencv/src/highgui/

Yeah, but unless they backported the fix, it seems that opencv changed
quite a bit (between 1.0 and current trunk).

Kind regards

Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3
is now the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on
i386 yet). Consequently, many failures are caused by the switch to gcc
4.3.
If you determine that this failure is caused by gcc 4.3, feel free to
downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built on i386,
and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

Bug#536473: FTBFS with new dpkg-dev

2009-07-10 Thread Riku Voipio
Package: haskell-regex-compat
Version: 0.92-1.1
Severity: serious

There is a missing , in the end of second last line in build-deps:

Build-Depends: cpphs, dpkg-dev (= 1.13.19), debhelper (= 5.0.0),
 dpatch, ghc6 (= 6.10), ghc6-prof, haskell-devscripts (= 0.6.6),
 libghc6-regex-base-dev (= 0.93), libghc6-regex-base-prof (= 0.93)
 libghc6-regex-posix-dev (= 0.93), libghc6-regex-posix-prof (= 0.93)

new dpkg-dev will detect this and fail:

dpkg-buildpackage: source package haskell-regex-compat
dpkg-buildpackage: source version 0.92-1.1
dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture armel
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: warning: can't parse dependency libghc6-regex-base-prof
(= 0.93)
 libghc6-regex-posix-dev (= 0.93)

You might want to check for this on other haskell libs before starting the
binNMU campaign.

Spotted on armel build logs:

Bug#536312: task overrides for stable appear to be updated when unstable changes - no network-manager etc in default debian 5.0r2 install

2009-07-10 Thread Frans Pop
Here's an (untested) patch that should avoid this issue for the future.
It determines the codename for testing from the testing symlink.

A manual cleanup for the current incorrect override files (for both lenny
and squeeze) will still be needed of course.

Cheers,
FJP

   * Have debhelper.mk build-depend on cdbs 0.4.53 or newer for DH v7.
   * Relax build-dependencies (e.g. drop versioning when satisfied in
oldstable and not explicitly required by policy):
+ keep old versioning for perl (required by policy)
+ relax slightly versioning for python
+ drop some old versionings for debhelper, gnulib, type-handling,
   cdbs and patchutils
   * Adjust gnome.mk to extend build-dependencies after including classes
 which initialize them.
   * Append trunk in Vcs-* stanzas of debian/control, and use viewsvn
(not vswn) in Vcs-Browser stanza. Closes: bug#531692.
   * Build-depend on python-all-dev (not python2.4-dev or python2.5-dev),
and generalize python-distutils tests to try all available versions
of python. Closes: bug#525855, thanks to Martin Pitt.
   * Use $(filter ...) instead of $(findstring ...) to extract space-
separated options from DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS in debian/rules.

 before doing configure.
   * Fix doc-base section (Debian, not Programming). Closes: bug#532193,

 /usr/share/doc/perl-modules is a symlink to /usr/share/doc/perl,

 perl-base package.

the Debian source tree of perl-modules 5.10.0-24 is hardly the
5.10.0-1 or 5.10.0-30 perl source tree.

Yes, I see. Thanks for the report. There are similar problems with
debian/copyright, and the perl-doc package (but not libcgi-fast-perl)
is also affected.

The loose dependencies are intentional so that perl-modules stays
installable when the arch-specific builds aren't ready yet,
so I suppose the symlinks need to be replaced with real directories.

(As noted in #522827, that's going to need some preinst trickery
because dpkg doesn't replace symlinks. If somebody has better ideas,
please speak up.)

2009-07-10 Thread Rindisbacher Flurin
hi,

i had the same problem a couple of days ago.
in my case it was a problem with my iceweasel-preferences, specifically
the Privacy -- clear private data on closing iceweasel checkbox.
(i don't know the correct translation. in german its called: Datenschutz
-- Private Daten löschen, wenn Iceweasel beendet wird)

what have you set there? did you choose to clear all private data?
maybe it helps.

regards,
flurin

I strongly disagree that this is a serious violation. Completely
omitting the changelog is a serious violation. There being the
possibility of a slight difference between perl/perl-modules is hardly
so, and for a working package in the stable distribution the intent is
that there be no difference.

For the sake of preventing further Policy lawyer bugs of this variety,
I vote that we fix this problem by simply nailing the dependencies
between perl-base/perl/perl-modules to an exact equivalence. This may
render perl un-installable in unstable at times for some
architectures, but heck the most important thing is obviously sticking
to the letter of Policy, so let's do it.

This kind of error is usually a sign that the autoconf macro and ltmain.sh

build after that compilation fails? If the Makefile is using a for loop,
you may need to add a set -e; before it or a SHELL=/bin/sh -e to fix
that.)

Your preinst suggestion was not working?

Policy lawyering is what makes this bug serious, but even without the

sks is going to block the OCaml 3.11.1 transition.

Attached is a patch that fixes the FTBFS. I am not able to reproduce
#535469, so I don't know whether it is fixed by a mere recompilation.

I suggest to proceed with the NMU anyway if there is no news from sks
maintainers. It will have to be removed from testing, though, if #535469
is still relevant when the testing migration is ready.

Cheers,

Hi,

thanks for your quick response.

I see roundcube-0.1.1-10~bpo40+2 still in backports. I presume this
doesn't include the patch to fix this specific issue.

I urge you to please make a version bump to backports since this is a
security issue.

Bug#534721: Patch

2009-07-10 Thread something-bz
So it turns out the main bug does not affect amd64 (or more generally, roughly
systems where (LONG_MAX2) = INT_MAX).

There are at least two bugs in the tag comparison:
- Assumes number equality is the same as VALUE equality.
- Assumes hash equality is the same as string equality.

The first causes the bug: Small numbers are stored as (VALUE)((n1)|1);
numbers not representable as such are stored as a bignum. If you're fortunate
enough to be using amd64, the size of a VALUE (unsigned long) is sufficiently
larger than the size of a hash (int) that you can always represent it as a
fixed number and you never see this bug.

The second bug means sometimes tag/othertag will appear to be valid if tag
and othertag have the same hash and both hashes are fixable. Searching for
hash collisions is not that difficult - the first example should work on amd64,
the second works on x86:

  $ ruby -r hpricot -e print Hpricot.XML('afuaf/zhgaa')
  afuaf/zhgaa/afuaf

  $ ruby -r hpricot -e print Hpricot.XML('yi/zkbaaa')
  yi/yi

The patch below never bothers with the hash comparison because you have to do
the string comparison anyway. If you want to re-add the hash comparison as a
possible optimization (for e.g. the HTML case), the better way is to replace
INT2NUM with INT2FIX instead of doing a bignum comparison. (hpricot_scan.rl is
also patched, though you can just apply the same patch file to both.)

The other two bugs are still there:
- The BogusETag prints as /tag, so it still produces potentially invalid
XML. It should probably print something more sensible (tag hpricot=bogus
whatever/?).
- Invalid XML is still accepted in XML mode, while the correct thing to do is
fail.

There's another oddity in hpricot_scan.rl/hpricot_scan.c:
- The definition of H_ELE(N) for a cBogusETag does H_ELE_SET(ele, H_ELE_ATTR,
rb_str_new(raw, rawlen));. I'm not sure what this is for (ele.attr should be a
dict, for a start).

Anyone feel like submitting this upstream?

Bug#536504: Depends on nonexistent package mono-jit

2009-07-10 Thread Chris Howie
Package: libapache2-mod-mono
Version: 2.0-2
Severity: grave

This package depends on mono-jit, which is no longer in unstable.
This renders this binary package uninstallable. An old version of
mono-jit will not solve the problem because of the chain mono-jit -
mono-common - conflicts with mono-runtime.

Bug#516632: mailutils/mips{,el} build failure

so this probably means there are 2 different mu_gsasl_module_data
 symbols in the code...

As I mentioned on IRC, I've managed to build the package on mips, using
the following trivial patch:

This also removes mu_gsasl_module_data from libmucfg's BSS segment, but
given that it was the only symbol contained in the segment anyway, I'm
assuming that's a side-effect of fixing the bug rather than an
indication of a problem.

Adam

I see roundcube-0.1.1-10~bpo40+2 still in backports. I presume this
doesn't include the patch to fix this specific issue.

That's why I marked this bug as done with the unstable

I urge you to please make a version bump to backports since this is a
 security issue.

The best would be probably to ping the one who did the

Bug#536528: gimp-gap: implicit pointer conversions

2009-07-10 Thread dann frazier
Package: gimp-gap
Version: 2.6.0-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Usertags: implicit-pointer-conversion

Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely to
cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a
pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and amd64.

Function `p_gtk_button_new_from_stock_icon' implicitly converted to pointer
at gap_story_section_properties.c:869
Function `gap_fmac_get_alternate_name' implicitly converted to pointer at
gap_story_properties.c:3340
Function `g_fopen' implicitly converted to pointer at gap_gve_misc_util.c:358

This is often due to a missing function prototype definition.
For more information, see [2].

Though it is guaranteed that this codepath will cause a segfault on certain
architectures, it is not guaranteed that this codepath would ever be executed
(e.g., if the returned pointer is never dereferenced). However, this bug
does prevent the ia64 buildd from successfully building this package, resulting
in a practical FTBFS issue and warranting the serious severity.

sks is going to block the OCaml 3.11.1 transition.

No. What I meant was that

Hi Peter,

it looks like ocaml-nox dropped one of the native-archs file, thus
leading to the FTBFS or your package:
| # Slightly outdated:
| cy...@talisker:/tmp$ apt-file show ocaml-nox|grep native-archs
| ocaml-nox: /usr/lib/ocaml/3.11.0/native-archs
| ocaml-nox: /usr/lib/ocaml/native-archs

| # With the package on the mirrors:
| cy...@talisker:/tmp$ dpkg --contents ./ocaml-nox_3.11.1-2_i386.deb|grep
native-archs
| -rw-r--r-- root/root69 2009-06-24 13:19 ./usr/lib/ocaml/native-archs

Build log excerpt:
| dh_testdir
| cat /usr/lib/ocaml/*/native-archs
| cat: /usr/lib/ocaml/*/native-archs: No such file or directory
| make: *** [build-stamp] Error 1
| dpkg-buildpackage: error: debian/rules build gave error exit status 2

See https://buildd.debian.org/~luk/status/package.php?p=skssuite=unstable

The changelog doesn't say anything about that, so I'm X-Debbugs-Cc'ing
the ocaml maintainers, so that they can clarify that.

Mraw,
KiBi.

Bug#528126: coreutils: touch does not update timestamp

2009-07-10 Thread Bob Proulx
severity 528126 normal
tag 528126 + moreinfo unreproducible
thanks

steve downes wrote:
Touch does not update the timestamp in an existing file. This is
particularly relevant to me as it appears to have caused dpkg to fail
not fully update leaving a none updatable system. I tested this both
on the dpkg.log file on another file. I also checked it worked on
 other hosts.

This seems very odd that the code would work correctly on everyone's
system except for yours. And even then it seems like it would be a
kernel problem with the utimesat call. Since this doesn't seem to be
widely a problem and because no other information has been provided
after Mike's follow-up I am marking this normal from severe.

 Setting up dpkg (1.14.26) ...
touch: setting times of `/var/log/dpkg.log' : no such process

This comes from the dpkg.postinst script:
# Create log file and set default permissions if possible
create_logfile() {
logfile=/var/log/dpkg.log
touch $logfile
chmod 640 $logfile
chown root:adm $logfile 2/dev/null || chown 0:4 $logfile
}

Mike already responded that he was unable to reproduce the problem. I
am unable to reproduce this problem. I am afraid you will need to
debug it or provide more information. In particular what is the
output of the trace command?

  strace -v -o touch.strace touch foo

I expect to see something like this:

  open(foo, O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_NOCTTY|O_NONBLOCK, 0666) = 3
  dup2(3, 0) = 0
  close(3)= 0
  utimensat(0, NULL, NULL, 0) = 0

If the utimes et al system calls are failing then this is a kernel
problem and not an application problem.

Bob

The libtool maintainer said this is because there is a mixture of
libtool versions in the source and scripts should probably just be
 regenerated.

This seems to have been built everywhere now, and I can't reproduce it. Can we
close the bug, or is this specific to some architecture or scenario?

Hi all,

I am the main upstream author of libsndfile and I am also a Debain
Maintainer (ie not a DD).

This bug is currently blocking the transition of libsndfile from
unstable to testing.

Is there anything I can do to help? Does anyone have a MIPS machine
they can give me SSH access to?

Cheers,

Well, that's just... not right. They're not in the official archive,

util-vserver build-depends on libbeecrypt6-dev which will be removed
