Bug#544669: cryptsetup: /sbin/blkid is not in initramfs
Package: cryptsetup Version: 2:1.0.7-2 Severity: grave Hello, cryptsetup 1.0.7-2 recommends to replace vol_id and un_vol_id by blkid and un_blkid. Both of these scripts depend on /sbin/blkid. However, /sbin/blkid is not available in the initramfs image. Considering your changelog statement that udev will remove vol_id soon, I'm not sure whether this bug should really be fixed in cryptsetup itself or if /sbin/blkid should be included in the initramfs either by initramfs-tools or util-linux directly. regards Mario -- User sind wie ideale Gase - sie verteilen sich gleichmaessig ueber alle Platten signature.asc Description: Digital signature

And testing if ie. tab completion works in them. Oh I forgot that r2507 disabled gfxterm by default. So better use GRUB_TERMINAL=gfxterm to explicitly enable it. And I forgot also a difference between the squeeze Debian package and the sid one: terminal_output.gfxterm vs terminal_output gfxterm The dot was introduced in 1.96+20090725-1 to workaround a regression, but then it was dropped again because it actually shouldn't necessary. GRUB handles this a bit different, with the dot it automatically loads gfxter.mod but we explicitly insmod it anyway so it shouldn't make a difference. As this package sits in the middle of a large transition, I inted to NMU it rather soon. If you don't have time and I should just go ahead, please say so. I would be grateful if you can NMU the packet. Uploading, with the only change being s/freeglut-dev/freeglut3-dev/ on debian/control (and an changelog entry). Thanks for the fast answer. Bug#543505: rsyslog: Wrong priority format for remote action
On Tue, 2009-09-01 at 23:48 +0200, Michael Biebl wrote: Andreas Barth wrote: Rainer asked me, to block rsyslog 4.4.0 as it apparently also had other issues (iirc there was also a segfault during udp reception, but Rainer knows the details), so it was not this specific bug report which alone was serious. Rainer, were you already able to nail down these issues and how far away is the 4.4.1 release? Quick answer: I feel much better about 4.4.x right now. I will probably release 4.4.1 today. In Depth: the segfault is not yet found, but it turns out that it was present in 4.2.0 as well. Also, only one person reported it so far and only on one of his (many) systems, this bug seems to be very related to the environment. I think this is especially true as 4.2.0 was in far more widespread use and as such I should have heard about the bug earlier/from more people if it would be likely to occur. So I conclude it is OK (though not optimal) to do a new release with this bug. I am still fighting with it. My next step is to try isolate a version where it was not present (I somewhat think it may even be present in v3 as well). To the rest of 4.4.x release, I made a mistake when I handled the beta. I moved the beta branch to quickly to a new release, without doing a stable in between. I thought I had sorted this problem out, but when I made the 4.3.2 beta stable, I obviously missed backporting some bug fixes that were present in the newer betas. I think all of them have now been found and sorted out. There still is a chance that I may be wrong, but git log review plus absence of any more bug reports makes me think I am right. So, all in all, it probably is a good time to do a 4.4.1 release. Rainer -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#509429: marked as done (pushover: Uses proprietary graphics from original game)
Your message dated Wed, 02 Sep 2009 13:29:07 +0200 with message-id 4a9e5703.6040...@phys.ethz.ch and subject line pushover has caused the Debian Bug report #509429, regarding pushover: Uses proprietary graphics from original game to be marked as done. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 509429: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=509429 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems ---BeginMessage--- Package: pushover Version: 0.0.1-1 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 2.1, 2.2.1 Pushover uses the graphics from the original game; the upstream site explicitly says The original graphics have been converted and included.. I see no information anywhere in the package suggesting that the original game became Free Software, nor can I find any such information online; neither can I find any information about these graphics in the debian/copyright file. It seems likely that the author simply converted the proprietary graphics from the original game without regard to license. The upstream site suggests that the author plans to replace the graphics eventually, and that Replacement graphics for the dominos exist.. However, until Free Software replacement graphics do exist, pushover cannot go in Debian, even in non-free. I think the sounds may come from the original game as well. If indeed the original game *has* become Free Software, then my apologies for the misunderstanding and RC bug; in that event please consider this bug simply a request for a clearer debian/copyright file, giving the author and license for the graphics and sounds separate from that of the new, Free Software game engine. You and/or upstream might have some luck adapting the graphics and sounds from magicor. It includes a 2D penguin walking around, kicking blocks, and jumping up and down when successfully completing a level. Not that the Free Software game world needs yet another game with a penguin protagonist, but better that than no game at all. - Josh Triplett -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.27-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages pushover depends on: ii libc6 2.7-16GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfreetype6 2.3.7-2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc11:4.3.2-1 GCC support library ii liblua5.1-05.1.3-1 Simple, extensible, embeddable pro ii libmikmod2 3.1.11-a-6A portable sound library ii libogg01.1.3-4 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libpng12-0 1.2.27-2 PNG library - runtime ii libsdl-mixer1.21.2.8-5 mixer library for Simple DirectMed ii libsdl-ttf2.0-02.0.9-1 ttf library for Simple DirectMedia ii libsdl1.2debian1.2.13-4 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii libsmpeg0 0.4.5+cvs20030824-2.2 SDL MPEG Player Library - shared l ii libstdc++6 4.3.2-1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libvorbis0a1.2.0.dfsg-3.1The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.2.0.dfsg-3.1The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-12 compression library - runtime pushover recommends no packages. pushover suggests no packages. -- no debconf information ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- The package was removed due the non-free original graphics. Bug#544639: out of range pointer 0xebc0
Please try without gfxterm. Uncomment the `GRUB_TERMINAL=console' in /etc/default/grub and run update-grub. I've tried using the command line in grub. Whenever I type in a command, then press either enter or tab, it immediately shows out of range pointer 0xebc0. I'll try uncommenting that line as soon as I've got a shell on that computer. Yup, that's fixed it. Will I have to make sure in future that it's always uncommented? What's your graphic card? I THINK it's then ATI Radeon IGP 350M. It's the ATI graphics card for the compaq nc4010 laptop. lspci actually says it's a 340M. Bug#544669: [pkg-cryptsetup-devel] Bug#544669: cryptsetup: /sbin/blkid is not in initramfs
reassign 544669 util-linux severity 544669 normal tag 544669 +patch thanks hey, On 02/09/2009 Mario 'BitKoenig' Holbe wrote: cryptsetup 1.0.7-2 recommends to replace vol_id and un_vol_id by blkid and un_blkid. Both of these scripts depend on /sbin/blkid. However, /sbin/blkid is not available in the initramfs image. thanks for the bugreport. cryptroot doesn't support checkscripts, thus check and precheck options are ignored for cryptroot devices anyway. i'm downgrading severity to normal for that reason. Considering your changelog statement that udev will remove vol_id soon, I'm not sure whether this bug should really be fixed in cryptsetup itself or if /sbin/blkid should be included in the initramfs either by initramfs-tools or util-linux directly. yes, you're correct. util-linux should copy blkid to the initramfs directly. initramfs-tools will need to be migrated to blkid anyway. currently it's using vol_id. so the propper fix for this is to ship /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/util-linux within util-linux. the script should contain something like: ---snip--- #!/bin/sh -e PREREQ= prereqs() { echo $PREREQ } case $1 in prereqs) prereqs exit 0 ;; esac . /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hook-functions copy_exec /sbin/blkid ---snap--- this mail downgrades the bug to normal, adds the 'patch' tag, and reassigns it to the package 'util-linux'. greetings, jonas signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#544373: Bug#440955: gnome-screensaver or pam_unix2 fails
Le mercredi 02 septembre 2009 à 15:14 +0100, Mathew Peet a écrit : I think I have this problem occuring in a fresh installation of debian lenny. First I upgraded the machine, and ran into this problem, now I have reinstalled and got the same problem again. I merely note that I cannot log in after the gnome-screensaver locks. I read this, and have checked and the pam-unix2 package is installed. Does this problem have a solution? Or do I have another problem? Your problem looks more like #544373, so please follow up in this bug. Can you kill gnome-screensaver, launch it again in debug mode (--debug) and show us what is printed on the standard output? This bug isn't a bug in tkdesk. It was a bug in itcl3, which is fixed fairly long time ago (see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=349302). So, I'm closing the bug. tkdesk is still broken because of http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=533061 but that bug can be closed only after itcl3 will be ported to Tcl 8.5 (and tkdesk as well). It'll be soon. Cheers! -- Sergei Golovan ---End Message---
