Bug#538822: dash: fails to install overwriting files from bash

2009-09-28 Thread Andreas Tille

Hi,

while beeing hit once more by this bug and reading through the bug log
which is discussing the alternatives system: I hope you are aware that
dash is actually not using the alternatives system but rather is
shipping a symlink

   ln -s dash /bin/sh

As I wrote in my private workaround (see above in the bug log) this
symlink is the problem.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

Sorry for nagging, but I'd like to see the current cups version go to
testing soon. If it helps, I could upload an NMU with only the fix for
mips*.

Cheers,
Andi

Bug#548848: Perl fails to upgrade "Could not perform immediate configuration"

2009-09-28 Thread Steve Langasek
reassign 548848 debhelper
thanks

The problem here is that liblocale-gettext-perl, which is transitively
essential, now pre-depends: perl instead of perl-base. This is a behavior
change in dh_perl from debhelper; it now causes all perl-using packages to
depend on perl, when for /usr/bin/perl perl-base should be sufficient.

Since the perl/perl-base split exists /for the benefit of/ the essential
closure, this needs to be fixed in either debhelper or, if debhelper's
behavior is for some reason considered correct, in liblocale-gettext-perl
(by overriding debhelper).

Bug#548851: Used to work but now segfault at startup

2009-09-28 Thread Julien Danjou
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Severity: grave

Hi guys,

Since today, I cannot start X anymore. I tried with 2.6.30 and 31, and
it just segfaults. It used to work up to a couple of days ago without
any problem. AFAIK I did not change anything, so this may be due to a
recent upgrade of some packages (xserver ?)

I can provide full backtrace if needed.

I've the set bug grave, but there's a chance I'm the only one so feel
free to downgrade.

Sorry about that. Ok here goes:
1. When linux-image-2.6.30 reached Squeeze I attempted to upgrade the
kernel from 2.6.26 to 2.6.30 exactly as I have been doing for years. I
executed as root:
aptitude install linux-image-2.6.30-1-686
As usual, this created 2 new entries in the menu.lst file and I rebooted
into the "normal" one as I have always done without problems for years..
2. Note that my root parameter in the menu.lst file has always been this:
/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-686 root=/dev/hda1 ro
aside from changes to the actual kernel version.
3. When booting into the new 2.6.30 kernel the process never got beyond
trying to find the root file system. A script called "Begin" reported
"looking for root file system" or words to that effect. After a few
minutes, it gives up and drops me into the busybox shell.
4. I have tried changing the root= parameter to root=/dev/sda1 and to
the UUID number but the results are always the same. I can never get
beyond the "looking for root file system problem.
5. I posted the hard disk specs as listed by lshw in my original post.
The system settings are also included there. If you cannot access these
I can repost them or send them to you personally.
6. I realise that this is sure not a 2.6.30 bug. I know this because, as
I mentioned previously, I was able to boot from a live Sidux CD that
uses the 2.6.30 kernel and it mounted my hard drive as /dev/sda1 without
any problems. Obviously it was not using that disk as the root file
system but it could find the disk at least.

The bug is related to 2.6.30 in that its symptoms only appear when I try
to boot from that kernel. Every other kernel before it has worked
without any problems. I am currently using the 2.6.26 kernel which has
always found the hard disk and still does. I therefore rule out hardware
malfunction as the source of the problem.

This is all the information I can think of. If you need to know anything
else, please let me know.
Regards,
Jonathan

Dear Matt,

Would you consider doing an NMU for this bug? Given that the bug has
been open with a patch for well over a month, I'd say you could
proceed with at least a DELAYED NMU.

Thanks.

thank you

Hi,

Here is a small patch to use default-jdk instead of jikes. I wasn't
able to test runtime in great depth but it seems to work.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

For some time now, guessnet-ifupdown fails to identify the network
my notebook (thinkpad r61, e1000e) is connected to. I am using this
stripped down /etc/network/interfaces:

Bug#543092: graphicsmagick: FTBFS: tests failed

2009-09-28 Thread Michael Banck
Hi Lucas,

graphicsmagick_1.3.5-5.1 built fine on all architectures (although it
was manually uploaded on amd64), and the -5.2 NMU I just uploaded to
DELAYED (again on amd64) built fine for me as well.

Can you still reproduce this test suite failure?

true, it comes from xserver-xorg-core move from 1.6.3.901-1 to 1.6.4-1.
Downgading to 1.6.3.901 mitigate the problem waiting for an upstream fix.

First thing to do is don't use the -quiet email address for the bug
report, as that won't reach anyone. Next, send plain text mail, not
html.
Finally, describe as precisely as you can your setup, what you tried and
what the result was for each attempt.

Why does totem hardcode pulsesink now? What's wrong with using the user

Hi,

This seems related to some changes in GLPI configuration after the first
installation (before the upgrade), since an install + upgrade on a fresh
install succeeds:

dell1:~# dpkg -i glpi_0.72-1_all.deb
Selecting previously deselected package glpi.

dbconfig-common: flushing administrative password
Reloading web server config: apache2.

I'll contact GLPI to see if the ugrade script is wrong and find a fix.

In the meantime, I'll downgrading the severity to important as the
upgrade is still possible using the interface.

Pierre

Note for the BTS: John was using a -bigmem kernel (PAE enabled) which is
incompatible with GEM up to 2.6.30. So he had to upgrade to 2.6.31 or
use a non-bigmem to get acceleration back.

Bug#548778: GTK+ causes text editors can not find string twice

2009-09-28 Thread Trafire Arcanegrin
Package: libgtk2.0-0
Version: 2.18.0-1
Severity: grave

With GTK+ 2.18.0-1, leafpad and mousepad can not find/search strings twice.
Steps to reproduce the bug:
1. open leafpad or mousepad
2. press Ctrl+f to open find dialog
3. enter whatever you want to find and press enter
4. press Ctrl+f to open find dialog again
5. this time you can not find anything, just can press the cancel button

Downgrade GTK+ to 2.16.6-1 resolve the problem.
The bug makes the GTK+ package in question unusable or mostly so,
so I think the severity of this bug could be "grave".

Cheers,
Trafire

Argh! Thanks for reporting that!

I guess, this should be fixed by allowing that option for root only,
unless "-" has been specified (similar to fping).

I'll provide a patch in a bit.

Cheers,
Sebastian

Bug#548773: [libneon27-gnutls] authentication to subversion via https fails with "Insecure Algorithm" error

2009-09-28 Thread Simon Eugster

Package: libneon27-gnutls
Version: 0.29.0-1
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Since 0.29.0-1 I've got the following problem when trying to do anything
with svn (update, commit, checkout, whatever):

$ svn up
svn: OPTIONS von »https://myuri/...«: Certificate verification error:
signed using insecure algorithm (https://myuri)

Downgraded libneon27 and libneon27-gnutls to 0.28.6-1 solved the problem.

I tagged this as serious because users depending on svn and not knowing the
origin of this problem may really have a problem.

This is something that I do not understand: the guessnet output reported
by ifplugd is different from what reported by guessnet. It looks like
there are two instances of guessnet running, one that works, and one
that does not work.

Unfortunately, I have not been using ifplugd in ages. You can try
running guessnet by itself:

   guessnet -i < /dev/null

And if it still crashes, it's worth running it under valgrind and seeing
what it says:

   valgrind guessnet -i < /dev/null

I tried building guessnet then running:

   valgrind src/guessnet -i -C examples/interfaces

But I did not have a single warning. All of this on amd64.

I'm sorry but I cannot reproduce the problem. Can you reproduce it
simply by running "guessnet -i < /dev/null"? In that case, can you
please send me your /etc/network/interfaces? (please remember to
obfuscate the passwords or any other private information it may contain)

Ciao,

Enrico

For the record, libgsl0-dev contains the file:

Bug#548752: 0.72.2 reorder search.constant Error during the database updateDuplicate entry

2009-09-28 Thread David Gibson
Package: glpi
Version: 0.72.2-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When upgrading to from 0.72-1 to 0.72.2-1, I'm prompted to let
dbconfig-common update the database. If I let it, the next time I access
glpi, it prompts to update the database. The result is an
error:
0.72.2 reorder search.constant Error during the database updateDuplicate
entry '11-34-0' for key 'display'

If I say no to the dbconfig-common, I get the same prompt from glpi to
update the database. This time it is successful.

Bug#547496: backtrace for another crash...

2009-09-28 Thread Julien Cristau
severity 547496 important
kthxbye

This doesn't seem to be extremely common, so downgrading.

hw/xfree86/os-support/linux/../shared/sigio.c:110 seems to be:
SYSCALL (r = select (xf86SigIOMaxFd, &ready, 0, 0, &to));
where SYSCALL() is defined as:
#define SYSCALL(call) while(((call) == -1) && (errno == EINTR))

No idea how this would segfault...

Does this still happen with server 1.6.3.901? There's a signal-related
fix in there, although it's kind of a long shot.

Cheers,
Julien

Looks like the scenario when /var/lib/openoffice/basisX.Y/program/services.rdb
got corrupted. Try

apt-get install --reinstall openoffice.org-core

And reinstall also the packages touching that file
(-evolution, -kab, -filter-binfilter) when you have them installed after
that.

In some rare cases services.rdb can get corrupted, no we've yet not found
out why. Did you do a upgrade of OOo while OOo was running?
Obviously that's a bad idea

I am closing this bug because it's probably that corrupted file. That the
file can get corrupted is an other story but that's also handled in an
other bug (#546723; beginning from message #27).

Rene
