The test takes less than a second on my i386 host, so it seems very
improbable that it would have succeeded with a longer timeout.

There's no DD-accessible mips box currently AFAICS, so there's little I
can do about this. Cc'ing the debian-mips list.

Can anybody reproduce this, either with the separate
libthreads-shared-perl package or perl itself?

Bug#555475: lib32cr0: installs libraries in old /emul/ia32-linux hierarchy

2009-11-10 Thread Alan Woodland
2009/11/9 Aaron M. Ucko u...@debian.org:
 Package: lib32cr0
 Version: 0.8.2-4
 Severity: serious
 Justification: Policy 9.1.1

lib32cr0 installs into /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib. Although that was
once the correct location for 32-bit libraries on amd64 Debian systems
(with /usr/lib32 a mere symlink thereto), current practice is to use
/usr/lib32, which is now a real directory. Could you please switch
over, and furthermore declare Conflicts: libc6-i386 (= 2.9-18) to
ensure that the files don't accidentally wind up in the old location
due to the presence of an obsolete symlink?
Sure, I was just about to make a new upload actually, so I'll hold off
and add this too.

Package: tftpd-hpa
Version: 5.0-5
Severity: serious

On upgrade from tftpd-hpa 5.0-3 to 5.0-5, I'm presented with the following
debconf error message:

debconf token is missing in /etc/default/tftpd-hpa

The /etc/default/tftpd-hpa file does not contain the '#DEBCONF#' token. The
file will therefore not be regenerated automatically.

If that's wrong, add the line and call dpkg-reconfigure tftpd-hpa
afterwards.

Well yes, this is definitely wrong.

- The /etc/default/tftpd-hpa file on my system is a *conffile*. Apparently the
5.0 package of tftpd-hpa no longer ships this as a conffile, but the package
still needs to properly clean up that conffile first before editing it.

- Since this is a conffile, and unmodified on my system, I should not get any
prompts about it. The package should do the right thing on upgrade so that
the default is the same on upgrade as on a new install.

python-qt3 depends on python-sip4 (= 4.8.1), python-sip4 (= 4.9)
python-sip4's current version is 4.9-1

All shared libraries and compiled binaries must be run through dpkg-shlibdeps to
find out any libraries they are linked against (often via the dh_shlibdeps
debhelper command). The package containing these files must then depend on
${shlibs:Depends} in debian/control to get the proper package dependencies for
those libraries.

Refer to Debian Policy Manual section 8.6 (Dependencies between the library and

Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 8.0.1
Severity: serious

Since today I gets lots of lintian warnings (manpage-has-errors-from-man)
on my dpkg builds because col fails with:
col: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character

You can reproduce it by doing this:
LANG=C man --warnings -E UTF-8 -l /usr/share/man/man8/update-alternatives.8.gz
/dev/null

I don't know if it's col's fault or if it's man-db that does not use col
properly but since col changed recently (and not man-db), I filed the bug
against col. Note that dropping LANG=C makes the warning go away so it's
most certainly locale related. Using any other locale seems to work, even
one that is not UTF-8.

Severity serious to avoid propagation to testing until we know more on the
nature of the problem.

Cheers,

   * Backport from trunk:
 - If the locale encoding is ASCII, then use the ascii device even if
preconv is available; it will do a better job than producing UTF-8
output and then recoding that to ASCII (closes: #547695).
 - Include unistd.h in src/encodings.c for dup and STDIN_FILENO
   (closes: #553623).
 - When invoking col, ensure that LC_CTYPE is set to an appropriate
locale for the selected character set (closes: #555331).
   * Add man-db/auto-update debconf template, which may be preseeded to false
to disable rebuilding the database when man-db is triggered (closes:
 #554914).

Bug#555538: snd - FTBFS: error: Seems like an unsupported hardware for jack.

Oh no, they use inline-asm for atomic ops. With the current source, the
package can only be built on x86, amd64 and powerpc(64).

You'd end up with FTBFS on sparc, mipsel and all other CPUs.

We had the same problem with FFADO, see e.g.

   http://subversion.ffado.org/ticket/197

The generic solution is the use gcc builtins. This requires gcc-4.1 or
newer and at least some kind of underlying hardware atomic ops:

   http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.1.2/gcc/Atomic-Builtins.html

So you could replace (patch) the code in audio.c:7056 with

static inline void __attribute__ ((__unused__)) atomic_add(volatile
int* __mem, int __val)
{
 __sync_add_and_fetch (__mem, __val);
}

or if the target doesn't support __sync_add_and_fetch, mimic it via
compare-and-swap:

static inline void __attribute__ ((__unused__)) atomic_add(volatile int*
__mem, int __val)
{
int actual;
do {
actual = *__mem;
} while (! __sync_bool_compare_and_swap (__mem, actual, actual + __val));
}

However, I don't think somebody would ever use snd, jack and the lot on
s390, so an easier approach would be to limit the libjack-dev dependency
to amd64, i386 and powerpc.

Probably the best approach would be to ignore jack here and simply use
pulseaudio for all. If not talking about pro audio, pulseaudio seems to
be the sensible default across distros (Ubuntu, Fedora, opensuse
following right now)

calls g_markup_escape_text on this string, which expects it to use
UTF-8. This causes it to miss the end of the string and, eventually,
to try to access an inaccessible page, causing the segmentation fault.

I don't know where or how this should be fixed.

There is probably a missing bind_textdomain_codeset call, or whatever
  the equivalent is in Python.

Python's gettext module provides a bind_textdomain_codeset call, but
 adding

  gettext.bind_textdomain_codeset(config.GETTEXT_PACKAGE,'UTF-8')

and prefixing GETTEXT_PACKAGE on the previous two lines with config.
 doesn't eliminate the segmentation fault.

bind_textdomain_codeset is also provided by the locale module. When
that version is used, the application does not have a segmentation
fault. I've attached the patch. Would it be OK to perform an NMU?

Bug#555555: openjdk-6 upload rejected by wrong copyright check

Matthias Klose wrote:

/usr/share/doc/openjdk-6-jre-headless is a symlink to openjdk-6-jre,
which are both in openjdk-6-jre-headless. openjdk-6-jre depends on
openjdk-6-jre-headless. While unusual this is not a violation of
policy.

I'd argue that the intention of policy 12.5 is certainly that package A must
contain /usr/share/doc/A, either directly or as a symlink to
/usr/share/doc/B. Policy uses package throughout when it means the
precise name of a binary package containing the file being discussed.

Russ, any thoughts? Is this a case of the wording in Policy needing some
tightening?

Bug#555626: Fw: permissions on database directories

2009-11-10 Thread Christian Hammers
Package: mysql-dfsg-5.1
Severity: serious
Tags: security

Hello

Below is a mail from the MySQL packagers list.

bye,

-christian-

Begin forwarded message:

From: Sergei Golubchik s...@mysql.com

Subject: permissions on database directories

Hi, packagers -

We've just got a mail on security@ about a bug (details are at the
end, in you're interested) - exploiting it relies on the fact that
datadir and database directories are world readable.

And I was told that on Debian they are:

 # ls -l /var/lib/
 drwxr-xr-x 10 mysqlmysql4096 2009-11-07 21:19 mysql

 # ls -l /var/lib/mysql
 drwxr-xr-x 2 mysql root 4096 2009-11-07 21:14 mysql

They don't have to be. Making them readable/writeable by mysql user only
is enough. That's how gentoo installs them, for example.

You may also want to consider to enable --secure-file-priv in
/etc/my.cnf to limit file operations (SELECT .. OUTFILE, LOAD ...
INFILE, LOAD_FILE) to a dedicated safe location.

Thanks!

Regards / Mit vielen Grüßen,
Sergei

P.S.: as for the bug itself - we'll fix it of course

P.P.S: here it is:

=
select 1 INTO OUTFILE '/var/lib/mysql/victim/test.MYD';
# the file is created rw-rw-rw- as documented
CREATE TABLE victim.test (...);
# the bug is that the file stays rw-rw-rw-
# and table data becomes readable and writable
=

Bug#555538: snd - FTBFS: error: Seems like an unsupported hardware for jack.

2009-11-10 Thread Adrian Knoth

newer and at least some kind of underlying hardware atomic ops:

ACK. It would be trial and error or require platform testing upfront. On
Sparc, the __sync_bool_compare_and_swap atomic op is only supported with
-mcpu=v9. Same holds true for __sync_add_and_fetch.

This is a pure lack of hardware support, think of SSE instructions not
available on i486.

The list of options is problably like this:

   1. Only require libjack-dev on amd64, i386 and powerpc

   2. Use pulseuadio

   3. Patch the source with error-prone builtin atomics

I suggest to use 1, 2 or 1 and 2. Since snd isn't timing critical,
there's not really a need for libjack. Pulseaudio would be sufficient.

What regressions are you seeing?

I have a check-g++ running right now against glibc 2.10.1-0exp2. I'll
comment when this is done.

Does the gcc package do something similar to glibc and fail the build
of the testsuite results fail to match expected results?

In such cases the debian-glibc team contacts the porters to help sort
out why the testsuite had changed, thus avoiding an upload that breaks
userspace.

Cheers,

lib32cr0 installs into /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib.

Thanks!

Bug#555555: openjdk-6 upload rejected by wrong copyright check

Reject Reasons:
openjdk-6-jre: Overriden tag no-copyright-file found, but this tag
may not be overridden.

/usr/share/doc/openjdk-6-jre-headless is a symlink to openjdk-6-jre,
which are both in openjdk-6-jre-headless. openjdk-6-jre depends on
openjdk-6-jre-headless. While unusual this is not a violation of
policy.

I'd argue that the intention of policy 12.5 is certainly that package A
must contain /usr/share/doc/A, either directly or as a symlink to
/usr/share/doc/B. Policy uses package throughout when it means the
precise name of a binary package containing the file being discussed.

hmm, I'd rather say that the intention should be to find the copyright file in
the very same path for every package. a condition which is fulfilled by this
packaging (note that -jre existed before -jre-headless, therefore the unusual
layout).

Russ, any thoughts? Is this a case of the wording in Policy needing some
tightening?

I didn't want a policy change ;)

Bug#555463: libc6: Upgrade to 2.10.1-6 fails with /etc/init.d/-query not found

2009-11-10 Thread Pawel Tomulik

Hello,

I had similar problem,

I found, that there is probably a typo in post-remove script:

   /var/lib/dpkg/info/libc6.postinst

about line 166:

   invoke-rc.d -query ${service} start ; status=$?

there should probably be two hyphens before query:

   invoke-rc.d --query ${service} start ; status=$?

After that correction, the script still didn't work for me,
until I've surrounded this line with set +e ... set -e.

Finally, I've replaced that single line, with three as fillows:

   set +e
   invoke-rc.d --query ${service} start ; status=$?
   set -e

It seems to work, but I'm uncertain about side effects.

Regards!

Bug#555636: fsprotect: Breaks newer kernels by dependency on aufs-tools

2009-11-10 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Package: fsprotect
Severity: critical

Your package depends on aufs-tools. This dependency is unneeded and
currently also breaks newer kernels shipping aufs2. Please stop
depending on aufs-tools. It will also be removed from the archive
soon.

There will probably be a new aufs-tools package, if you want to
use it, recommend aufs-tools ( 0+20091000) (newer than October).

Regards,
Julian.

Bug#548434: ftutils so util-linux?

2009-11-10 Thread ael
I tried to format one of the floppies using gfloppy. This also failed
to verify, but managed to get past several tracks, unlike fdformat.

I tried setting the density to dd instead of hd -- something that I
had also tried on fdformat without success. gfloppy managed to
verify to around track 73. I tried installing a dos filesystem despite
the verification errors, and it seemed to work.

I then tried fdformat, having used setfdprm to set hd. This time it worked
and passed verification. Badblocks also ran without error.

I am not sure what to make of all of this, but I wonder if my initial
attempts to format with fdformat without checking that the density was
set to hd may have written some dense data to the floppy (well, several
floppies) which caused problems later.

Whatever the case, it does suggest that the problem may be with fdformat
with is in util-linux rather than fdutils. So perhaps this report should
be re-assigned?

Do you have any details? I skimmed through the 146-147 changes, and
the CLOEXEC flags were the only commit I found that could break on older
kernels. I might have missed something else though. I think it'd be
worth keeping compatibility with lenny's kernel in squeeze's udev.

Package: grub2
Version: 1.97~beta3-1~bpo50+1
Severity: important

Current version of GRUB 1.97 allows to enable password-based authentication
for run-time editing menu entries, going GRUB commandline, etc.

Such configuration is described at http://grub.enbug.org/Authentication ,
and is outside of scope of this bug report.

The real thing with this password is:

GRUB accepts user input as valid password as long as user enters some first
characters of password correctly.

I.e. if /boot/grub/grub.cfg reads:

set superusers=user1
password user1 password1

Then user can enter p, pa, pas etc, and GRUB will 'eat it' as correct
password.

Considering that this 'feature' effectively lowers password length to 1 (one),
I've set severity of this bug to 'important'. Feel free to add 'security' tag,
if appropriate.

While I report this issue against backported version of GRUB2, the same
behaviour can be seen in current sid's version: 1.97-1. This issue does not
apply to current lenny version of grub2, as password-checking functionality
unimplemented there.

Bug#555614: udev: error initializing netlink socket

2009-11-10 Thread Marco d'Itri
On Nov 10, Julien Cristau jcris...@debian.org wrote:

Do you have any details? I skimmed through the 146-147 changes, and
Nevermind, it's inotify-with-flags also in that commit.

the CLOEXEC flags were the only commit I found that could break on older
kernels. I might have missed something else though. I think it'd be
worth keeping compatibility with lenny's kernel in squeeze's udev.
Sure, I could backport that patch but next month something else will
probably come up and it many not be as easy to support so I do not think
that it is worth the effort.
But we can reconsider this once squeeze will be frozen.

Bug#555644: libc6: fails to update from 2.10 -- incorrect invoke-rc.d call in postinst script

2009-11-10 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: libc6
Version: 2.10.1-6
Severity: serious

Hi,

when updating a sid/amd64 chroot (on a lenny(+older squeeze kernel)/amd64 host),
libc6 fails to update properly.
Last previous update was performed on Oct 12, no problems at that time.
This time, libc6 was going to be updated from 2.9-27 to 2.10.1-6 and
configuration fails with:
(since I didn't keep the original error message
and it was way to messed up by a lot of packages failing with
unconfigured libc6, I can still reproduce the problem by manually
reinstalling libc6)

# dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/libc6_2.10.1-6_amd64.deb
(Reading database ... 28139 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace libc6 2.10.1-6 (using .../libc6_2.10.1-6_amd64.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement libc6 ...
Setting up libc6 (2.10.1-6) ...
Checking for services that may need to be restarted...
Checking init scripts...
invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/-query not found.
dpkg: error processing libc6 (--install):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 100
Errors were encountered while processing:
 libc6

One reason for this are some incorrect calls to invoke-rc.d:

# grep -query /var/lib/dpkg/info/*
/var/lib/dpkg/info/libc6.postinst: invoke-rc.d -query
${service} start ; status=$?
/var/lib/dpkg/info/libc6.preinst: invoke-rc.d -query
${service} start ; status=$?

This should have been --query.

Surprisingly this update worked on another machine with a similar chroot
without problems, that chroot was updated once more inbetween and
yesterdays update was only from libc6 2.10.1-1 to 2.10.1-6.

If I manually fix the spelling of --query in the postinst script and try
to configure libc6, new errors occur:

# dpkg --configure libc6
Setting up libc6 (2.10.1-6) ...
Checking for services that may need to be restarted...
Checking init scripts...
dpkg: error processing libc6 (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 105
Errors were encountered while processing:
 libc6

Error 105 seems to be a return value from invoke-rc.d --query,
probably misinterpreted as a failure by set -e.

Bug#555608: CVE-2009-3300

2009-11-10 Thread Russ Allbery
Giuseppe Iuculano iucul...@debian.org writes:

the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) id was
 published for shibboleth-sp2.

 CVE-2009-3300[0]:

 | Middleware Initiative Shibboleth allow remote attackers to inject
 | arbitrary web script or HTML via URLs that are encountered in
 | redirections, and appear in automatically generated forms.

If you fix the vulnerability please also make sure to include the
CVE id in your changelog entry.

The first updated package is currently sitting in NEW (and has been for
some time). The sid update requires updates to xmltooling, opensaml2, and
shibboleth-sp2 since the upstream solution also changes the library
SONAME. That means xmltooling, opensaml2, and shibboleth-sp2 all have to
clear NEW to resolve this bug for unstable. xmltooling has been uploaded.
I'm going to stage the packages in my personal repository until they can
get through NEW processing.

We're evaluating whether we can patch shibboleth-sp2 in stable without
changing the SONAME or requiring rebuilt versions of the supporting
libraries.

shibboleth-sp in stable and oldstable is also affected, and I hope to work
on that soon.

Bug#555555: openjdk-6 upload rejected by wrong copyright check

2009-11-10 Thread Russ Allbery
Adam D. Barratt a...@adam-barratt.org.uk writes:
 Matthias Klose wrote:

 may not be overridden.

 /usr/share/doc/openjdk-6-jre-headless is a symlink to openjdk-6-jre,
which are both in openjdk-6-jre-headless. openjdk-6-jre depends on
openjdk-6-jre-headless. While unusual this is not a violation of
 policy.

I'd argue that the intention of policy 12.5 is certainly that package A
must contain /usr/share/doc/A, either directly or as a symlink to
/usr/share/doc/B. Policy uses package throughout when it means the
precise name of a binary package containing the file being discussed.

Russ, any thoughts? Is this a case of the wording in Policy needing some
 tightening?

Adam is correct for how we've handled this in the past. We don't require
that copyright file extractors have a full implementation of the
dependency algorithm, only that they be able to follow one link in the
dependency chain. Past bug reports on Lintian about this have been
rejected with that reason.

I'm not entirely adverse to changing this, but it would be a change from
how we've historically handled it.

severity: serious
tags: security

Hi,

Your package contains an embedded version of prototype.js that is
vulnerable to either CVE-2007-2383 (affecting prototype.js before 1.5.1)
[0], CVE-2008-7220 (affecting prototype.js before 1.6.0.2) [1], or both.

Your package embeds the following prototype.js versions:

  sid: 1.5.1
  lenny: N/A
  etch: N/A

This is a mass-filing, and the only checking done so far is a version
comparison, so please determine whether or not your package is itself
affected or not. If it is not affected please close the bug with a
message indicating this along with what you did to check.

The version of your package specified above is the earliest version
with the affected embedded code. If this version is in one or both of
the stable releases and you are affected, please coordinate with the
release team to prepare a proposed-update for your package to
stable/oldstable.

There are patches available for CVE-2007-2383 [2] and a backport for
prototypejs 1.5 for CVE-2008-7720 [3].

If you correct the problem in unstable, please make sure to include the
CVE number in your changelog.

Thank you for your attention to this problem.

Mike

Bug#555649: uninstallable due to unsatisfiable dependencies

2009-11-10 Thread Stefan Lippers-Hollmann
Package: lazarus
Version: 0.9.28.2-1
Justification: unsatisfiable dependency
Severity: serious

Hi

lazarus 0.9.28.2-1 has started to tighten its dependency on lazarus-ide to
lazarus-ide (= ${source:Upstream-Version})
which expands to
lazarus-ide (= 0.9.28.2)
which obviously can't exist in Debian without its Debian revision or
specifying a range, as such it is uninstallable on all architectures.

Bug#552429: [Pkg-openmpi-maintainers] Bug#552429: MPI: fix alternatives mess with runtime environment

2009-11-10 Thread Manuel Prinz
Hi Lucas!

Am Montag, den 26.10.2009, 09:04 +0100 schrieb Lucas Nussbaum:
 Alternatives:
 - for compilation environment:
all implementations have a single mpi alternative. The master
controls the link from /usr/include/mpi, and has all the compilers
   wrappers as slaves.
= That's great, and there's nothing to do about it.

There are two issues I do have with that:

1. Priorities:

The priorities currently used by the alternatives are the following:

LAM MPI: 30
MPICH: 10
Open MPI: 5
MPICH2: 5

This does not reflect the fact that LAM and MPICH should go in the long
run. I propose to change the priorities to:

Open MPI: 20
MPICH2: 15
MPICH: 5
LAM MPI: 5

Maybe Open MPI and MPICH2 should have the same value but I do not know
if update-alternatives handles that reasonably. The numbers have no
special meaning, I just set them so the ordering is OK.

2. libmpi.so (and others):

Some of the packages (MPICH2, Open MPI, LAM MPI) set libmpi.so via
alternatives. This is very troublesome, as it is not ABI compatible
between the implementations. I have not yet checked if packages are
linked to libmpi.so directly, but if so, they will break as soon as the
alternatives are switched. MPICH only manages the static libraries with
alternatives which seems to be OK. (Though not really recommended,
IMHO.) We should think about dropping this alternative or finding a
solution. The compiler wrappers should be OK finding the libraries
under /usr/lib/$pkg/. Alternatively, each package could provide a lib
$pkg.so instead and drop libmpi.so from alternatives. One other option
I can think of is to provide libmpi.so via mpi-defaults, so it can't be
changed. All other mpi compilers should be able to work. (Have to test
that.) Otherwise changing the compilation environment could crash
applications since libmpi.so is moved to something they were not build
against. Opinions?

 - for runtime environment:
   mpich2 and openmpi:
two distinct mpirun and mpiexec alternatives (each master) to control
   those binaries
   mpich and lam-runtime:
a single mpirun alternative that controls (as slaves) the other
   binaries (including mpiexec)

I think that it makes more sense to have mpirun and mpiexec be linked
 together (the mpich/lam solution).

Dito. As far as Open MPI is concerned, mpirun and mpiexec are the same
tool (opal_wrapper). I propose that every package should provide
mpi{run, exec}.$pkg and manage it via the mpirun master alternative,
including the man pages.

Best regards
Manuel

Robert, I hope I count as D-I Team as an grub-installer uploader ;)
It migrated successfully so this isn't needed any more.

Bug#548434: superformat also fails

2009-11-10 Thread ael
I tried gfloppy on another machine, but this time without success.
I also tried fdformat many time with various densities, again without
success.

Finally, I tried superformat:-

# setfdprm /dev/fd0 hd
# superformat /dev/fd0 hd

Thus it appears the superformat is also broken, so fdutils is involved after
all.

This under kernel 2.6.32-rc6. Has the floppy API been changed, perhaps?

Bug#555658: at: invalid option -- t caused by backwards incompatibility

2009-11-10 Thread Osvaldo La Rosa
Package: at
Version: 3.1.10.2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

A friend of mine wrote a script for recording streams from radiostations; in
that script he did used at but his version on Ubuntu 9.10 is at 3.1.11 while
the at on Debian Lenny and Ubuntu LTS is 3.1.9:
there seems to be an incompatibility between both versions and that
incompatibility renders the at package unusable because the scripts using it
are made incompatible, so unusable.

The error is still the same:
at: invalid option -- t
and then the Usage: lines
But nothing shall help as long as there isn't an universal param ...

PLEASE fix this problem by providing us with a standard for ALL versiosn
compatible timespec parameter;
or Debian should urgently publish a more recent version of at !

Severity: serious
Package: celt
Version: 0.6.1-1
User: debian-rele...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: nonfree-doc rfc

Hi!

This source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

+ celt-0.6.1.orig/doc/ietf/draft-valin-celt-rtp-profile-01.txt

When looking into this, I noticed XML source was included in the package
so there is potential that the authors are willing to license the work
under a DFSG-free license as well as the IETF license. See the links
below for more information on how to make that happen.

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The lenny/squeeze release policy says binary and source packages must each be
free:
 * http://release.debian.org/lenny/rc_policy.txt
 * http://release.debian.org/squeeze/rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
the upstream archive and adding 'dfsg' to the Debian package
   version name.

3. Move the package to non-free.

General discussions are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal
or debian-devel in the thread with Subject: Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in
source packages.

Thanks,
Simon

Bug#547351: l7-filter-userspace: [FTBFS] 'nfct_sprintf_protocol' was not declared

2009-11-10 Thread Alan Woodland
2009/11/10 Jakub Wilk uba...@users.sf.net:
 tags 547351 + patch
 thanks

I've finally managed to write a patch:
 http://hg.debian.org/hg/collab-maint/l7-filter-userspace/raw-file/tip/debian/patches/netfilter-conntrack-0.100.diff

 Testing will be *much* appreciated.

Excellent, I'll have a fiddle with it tomorrow. I'm interested to see
how you fixed it - I had a look at it myself and it wasn't as obvious
as I'd hoped.

Have you used any of the patch management systems before btw?

Alan

Bug#555668: elfsign uses MD5

2009-11-10 Thread phcoder
Package: elfsign
Version: 0.2.2-2
Severity: grave

Justification: user security hole

ELF sign uses MD5 which is vulnerable to collision attack. An attacker could
prepare 2 ELF files: one legitimate and one malicious having same MD5, then
submit legitimate one for signing and then transfer signature to malicious
file. Also possible however more difficult to mount against source code. Note:
Debian itself doesn't use ELF signatures

Bug#551228: Debian bug #551228: libgstreamer-perl: FTBFS: failed test

2009-11-10 Thread Tim Retout
I've been looking at the test itself. It's checking the get_caps method
on one of these GstTypeFindFactory objects.

   # Failed test 'The thing isa GStreamer::Caps'
   # at t/GstTypeFindFactory.t line 16.
   # The thing isn't defined

Upstream have already removed a test from this script for
-get_extensions() with a comment that they cannot guarantee the output
will not be NULL.

On my machine, I dumped the content of -get_caps() for every element
from -get_list() (not just the first), and there were 2 out of 164
which weren't returning a GStreamer::Caps object.  I haven't tracked
these down further.

On some machines it might be possible that one of these gets put at the
start of the list, and the test will fail. It looks like the
registration will happen in the same order each time, but I don't know
what controls that ordering. I don't know why the build would succeed
for lucas on tmpfs, either. :)

Reading the gstreamer source (gsttypefind.c), it looks like both
extensions and capabilities are *optional* arguments to
gst_type_find_register.

So I reckon the right thing to do is to disable this test as well, and
tell upstream (who might well have more knowledge of this).

 I have a check-g++ running right now against glibc 2.10.1-0exp2. I'll
 comment when this is done.

=== g++ Summary ===

I'm seeing this with gcc upstream trunk compiled against glibc-2.10.1-0exp2.
