Bug#552456: Fails to build with old libpoppler-dev
Hi, cups 1.4.2-1 failed to build on amd64, mips, and powerpc since the build daemons on those architectures tried to use libpoppler-dev 0.12.0-2, which doesn't include the fofi header files. Should cups build-depend on libpoppler-dev (= 0.12.0-2.1), should the buildd maintainers for these architectures be asked to rebuild cups once libpoppler-dev 0.12.0-2.1 is available on those architectures, or will this be fixed automatically? -- Matthttp://ftbfs.org/kraai -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#552456: [Pkg-cups-devel] Bug#552456: Fails to build with old libpoppler-dev
Hello Matt, Matt Kraai [2009-11-13 2:54 -0800]: cups 1.4.2-1 failed to build on amd64, mips, and powerpc since the build daemons on those architectures tried to use libpoppler-dev 0.12.0-2, which doesn't include the fofi header files. Right, I noticed, but thanks for the reminder. Should cups build-depend on libpoppler-dev (= 0.12.0-2.1) Ideally yes. I just didn't do it to be able to sync the package to Ubuntu as well (it'd be the only delta, which I want to avoid). I planned to do another upload on Sunday. I just uploaded it yesterday also to check whether the toolchain for -fPIE has been fixed on mips (which apparently wasn't, although they said so). So I need a code-change upload anyway. The mod_ssl patch only rejects renegotiations requested by the client. Bug#554574: Status?
What is the status of this bug? Is it up to the package maintainer to disable cloog/ppl for hppa and try the build again? Speaking professionally, CodeSourcery enables cloog/ppl for our toolchain products, but we do a lot of additional testing to verify everything is working properly. At the end of the day, without a way to fail the source only upload build when the FAIL list changes, this will continue to be a problem for source only upload architectures like hppa. This type of problem could happen to any architecture. We need stricter build failure controls. I would suggest that the debian gcc package maintain a known good FAIL/XFAIL list and fail the build if that doesn't match. When a build fail happens the porters (like myself) should be contacted immediately to determine the cause of the regressions and fix the problem. Cheers, Carlos. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#556019: [pkg-wine-party] Bug#556019: wine-unstable: fails to load native .dll files
Jacob Emmert-Aronson skrev: Package: wine-unstable Version: 1.1.32-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable In the upgrade to 1.1.32-1, wine moved renamed most 'wine' folders to 'wine-unstable', but in amd64, /emul/ia32-linux/usr/share/wine/ was not renamed. Further, the wine.inf simlink in this folder points to /usr/share/wine/wine.inf, which no longer exists, the file having been moved to /usr/share/wine-unstable. I have great difficulties figuring out what you mean. For one, there's no such thing as /emul/ia32-linux/usr/share/wine in the packages, there should probably not even be a /emul/ia32-linux/usr/share on the system. No packages built for squeeze/sid even contain /emul/ia32-linux anymore. (My lenny backports on people.debian.org may use /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib, though; perhaps there's something broken in them, for all I know, but if you're using them, try to use the packages in sid instead.) Also, wine.inf is not a symlink, and to my knowledge, it never has been. Even after correcting the simlinks so that the wine executable finds wine.inf, any program that requires a native dll file crashes upon being run in wine as wine cannot load the dll files. For example: err:module:import_dll Loading library nvcuda.dll (which is needed by LZ:\\home\\jre21\\fah-gpu\\FahCore_11.exe) failed (error c020). err:module:import_dll Loading library cudart.dll (which is needed by LZ:\\home\\jre21\\fah-gpu\\FahCore_11.exe) failed (error c020). err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for LZ:\\home\\jre21\\fah-gpu\\FahCore_11.exe failed, status c135 Error code c020 (STATUS_INVALID_FILE_FOR_SECTION) is a type of critical failure in attempting to load a PE image, but the above isn't enough to understand where it comes from. Unless, I suppose, this is a problem of Wine not finding the correct fakedlls or something. Anyway, from the looks of it, your system is seriously broken and you need to repair it before attempting to run Wine. At a minimum, completely uninstall Wine, completely remove the obsolete /emul/ia32-linux and other stuff lingering around that shouldn't exist, and maybe then try reinstalling Wine. If the packages themselves had been this broken, I'd probably have received bug reports about that already, from users with less broken setups. Bug#552882: [pkg-ntp-maintainers] Bug#552882: r267 - in /ntp/trunk/debian: changelog patches/mod_nano.patch patches/series

So I've been testing this. With the version like it was, on a 2.6.22 kernel things broke. In my cases it stayed with an offset around 0.11 s, and the frequenty got set to 0 and stayed that way. Running with a patched version that detects the nano kernel it behaves properly on both 2.6.22 and 2.6.26. The 2.6.26 kernel also indicates that it runnig in nano mode. Bug#549861: Same here...
Hi Theodore, I have been running in this same issue lately. The real problem was a new X11 driver which did not work too well with my ATI card, locking the system hard every few minutes. Why this leads to some timestamp in the super block to be in the future is beyond me. I have to agree though that this is a master PITA. And it's a questionable approach to assume the file system is broken because of some timestamp (after all, the system clock could be wrong just as well). BTW, see also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/e2fsprogs/+bug/427822 Seems to be caused by a kernel bug. Anyway, I'd still vote against checking the last-mounted time against an unknown time reference.
(My lenny backports on people.debian.org may use /emul/ia32-linux/usr/lib, though; perhaps there's something broken in them, for all I know, but if you're using them, try to use the packages in sid instead.) In that case, I think I can piece together where the simlink must have come from. I still had /lib32 and /usr/lib32 as simlinks to directories within /emul/ia32-linux. Because wine.bin uses a relative link to call wine.inf, it was (on my system) attempting to find wine.inf in a subdirectory of /emul/ia32-linux. I must have, at some point in the past, installed the simlink there myself and then forgotten about it, rather than taking this as a sign that /emul/ should not still be on my system. Also, wine.inf is not a symlink, and to my knowledge, it never has been. (At least I hope so...) I deleted the simlinks to /emul/ia32/... and reinstalled every package that uses /lib32 or /usr/lib32, and then purged and re-installed all my wine packages. It was then that I discovered exactly why the library failed to load. The library is a wrapper that converts cuda's Windows system calls to their Linux equivalents. It is linked against libwine.so.1, which, in the transition to 1.1.32, the debian package renames to libwine-unstable.so.1. Installing libwine.so.1 as a simlink to libwine-unstable.so.1 solved the issue. I apologize for assigning incorrect severity; the issue turned out to be much more limited in scope than I had at first assumed. pgpcbLKvUwogG.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#542984: python-libpcap: FTBFS: pcap.c:3886: error: '_wrap_SWIG_PyInstanceMethod_New' undeclared here (not in a function)
tags 542984 + patch upstream thanks Hello, I poked around at this bug, and think I have a resolution. However, someone with more knowledge of swig/python3 c-api should sanity-check this. This module uses SWIG to generate pcap.c which is then compiled. However, first it uses build-tools/docify.py to transform the code. It automatically associates METHOD with _doc_METHOD and _wrap_METHOD. However, _doc_ has to be set up manually, and _wrap_ is only generated for real methods. I think that swig got updated for python3, and added the SWIG_PyInstanceMethod_New automatically generated method. However, the docify.py script transforms this to expect _doc_.. and _wrap_... methods for SWIG_PyInstanceMethod_New, which don't exist, thus failing. - This patch adds SWIG_PyInstanceMethod_New to a list of methods - which are not automatically _doc_METHOD and _wrap_METHOD'ified, After the package would compile and build, it would not byte-compile when it was being installed, because of another problem in build-tools/docify-shadow. This was doing more (python) source code transformation in pcap.py, but was broken by changing form of the source code swig output. - Make the method name matching regex more flexible. Finally, there was a bug in the comparing a string to an int, to determine if it was running with python2, where it would use this system. So, all of this hack build system was for nothing, because it was comparing an int to a string in a way that was always false. So I fixed that. Unfortunately, I rebuilt against the next upstream release in this process. However, the previous CVS snapshot is mostly identical so this should work for either 0.6.1cvs or 0.6.2. I think. I've also attached my .diff.gz for 0.6.2 if you'd like to take the chance to upgrade to that release. (Please feel free to replace my changelog entry with one by you). It may need other policy checks in places, this was done mainly to fix the FTBFS, not upgrade to the next release. - Richard diff -r -u python-libpcap-0.6.1+cvs.2007.07.28/build-tools/docify-shadow.py python-libpcap-0.6.2/build-tools/docify-shadow.py --- python-libpcap-0.6.1+cvs.2007.07.28/build-tools/docify-shadow.py 2007-02-14 02:55:17.0 -0500 +++ python-libpcap-0.6.2/build-tools/docify-shadow.py 2009-11-13 18:27:47.0 -0500 @@ -65,7 +65,8 @@ # Make a dictionary of all the method names from the method lines. methods={} for line in pymeths: -methmatch=re.search('def +([^ (]*) *\(\*args\)',line) +methmatch=re.search('def +([^ (]*) *\((self)?(, )?(\*args)?\)',line) fnmatch=re.search('\:.*[^_p](_?pcapc?\.[^(, ]+) *[(,]',line) methode=None fname=None @@ -98,7 +99,7 @@ # put doc assignments inside of the __init__ outfile.write('import sys\n') -outfile.write('if int(sys.version[0])=\'2\':\n') +outfile.write('if int(sys.version[0])=2:\n') for method, fname in methods.items(): outfile.write('self.%s.im_func.__doc__ = %s.__doc__\n' % (method, fname)) diff -r -u python-libpcap-0.6.1+cvs.2007.07.28/build-tools/docify.py python-libpcap-0.6.2/build-tools/docify.py --- python-libpcap-0.6.1+cvs.2007.07.28/build-tools/docify.py 2007-02-14 02:55:17.0 -0500 +++ python-libpcap-0.6.2/build-tools/docify.py 2009-11-13 17:48:45.0 -0500 @@ -37,7 +37,8 @@ match=re.search('^.*char \*.*\.*\',line) if match: fname=re.search('\.*\',match.group(0)).group(0)[1:-1] -if re.search('swigregister',fname): +if re.search('swigregister|SWIG_PyInstanceMethod_New',fname): # print 'skipping doc string for %s\n' % fname outfile.write(line) continue -- | Richard Darst - rkd@ - ehrenfest: up 1 day, 5 |http://rkd.zgib.net - pgp 0xBD356740 | Ye shall know the truth and -- the truth shall make you free python-libpcap_0.6.2-1.diff.gz Description: Binary data
