Bug#562910:
This is caused because portmap (6.0.0-1) is just listening on the IPv4 loopback address: # netstat -tulpen|grep portmap tcp0 0 0.0.0.0:111 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 13538 5248/portmap udp0 0 0.0.0.0:111 0.0.0.0:* 0 13537 5248/portmap mountd tries to connect to the IPv6 loopback address ::1 (if there is one) and fails. This can be easily confirmed several ways: Remove IPv6 loopback interface: # ifconfig lo inet6 del ::1 and it will start. Use rpcbind (0.2.0-2) instead of portmap. It will also listen on IPv6 (but, i. e. nis depends on portmap) and mountd will start again. If you run rpc.mountd with strace, look out for indications like AF_INET6. pgpbJ9wf8D0Mp.pgp Description: PGP Digital Signature

Yes, I even tried with the gnome-bluetooth_2.28.1-0ubuntu2 packages from ubuntu and it didn't work (well, at least the system tray icon is back, but everything else still seems broken, e.g. the spinner in the Device Search window of bluetooth-wizard isn't moving). I reported the same bug against gnutls, #563127. The maintainer found that gnutls refused to accept the certificate because it was issues by a V1 CA. Sadly I'm no X.509 expert so I don't know what that really means. The certificate in question was issued in April 2009, so it's not exactly ancient. Please tell me if you'd like the server address to debug this further yourself, or whether there are any command line utilities for NSS that I can use as the equivalent of gnutls-bin/'openssl s_client' to debug further. There is one, but you would need to build libnss3 yourself (and get the binary in mozilla/security/nss/cmd/vfyserv). If you'd prefer me to further investigate, please report the server address. Because this coincides with the upgrade from 3.12.4 to 3.12.5 I am assuming that NSS made a similar policy change to GnuTLS, to stop trusting V1 CAs. If this is the kind of thing that a user of NSS can override, please let me know and I'll forward that information to the (evolution) upstream bug at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=605773. There is no such change that I can see related to trusting V1 CA certificates. Mike -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Sorry, but my problem came from the fact that the system config file changes to /etc/xdg/surfraw/conf. With the default config, the problem is still there. But, I think that it comes from sensibe-browser or www-browser (w3m on my system) In the default config, if I change sensible-browser with Iceweasel or if I write no to graphical browser, it works fine. Edit: In fact the problem is that I have an old environment variable (BROWSER=w3m). So sensible-browser was w3m which is not graphical... Sorry for the noise. Surfraw is not in cause... Only me... BTW, I have the following in dmesg when I plug in my dongle: btusb_intr_complete: hci0 urb f6785880 failed to resubmit (19) btusb_bulk_complete: hci0 urb f6785a00 failed to resubmit (19) btusb_bulk_complete: hci0 urb f6785000 failed to resubmit (19) btusb_send_frame: hci0 urb f4327680 submission failed Does it maybe mean it's broken? looks to me like a kernel issue with the new btusb kernel module, I found out a bug report in Launchpad as well: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/268502 I tried it myself and I get the same errors when I plug in my dongle, so it's definitely not your hardware broken. It could also be an issue with bluez itself, but bluez is actually unmaintained in Debian, so I really don't know who could take care of this issue. Bug#563253: libnss3-1d: Fails to verify the certificate of my company email server

If you just wanted to check where evolution stores its certificate information, you can skip the next paragraph. :) I needed to get access to my email for work, so I accepted evolution's certificate warning. This seems to add a _permanent_ exemption for the certificate, and evolution does not seem to have any UI for manipulating exemptions, leaving me unable to reproduce the problem on this computer any more. In order to try and remove the exemption, I deleted the cert8.db, key3.db and secomd.db files in ~/.evolution. Evolution happily recreated them, but they are empty; so now evolution doesn't know about _any_ certificate authorities at all. So I can't reproduce the bug on this computer any more (or connect to any SSL-using server without having to manually verify the certificate, argh)... the bug will still exist on my system at home, so if you want these files then I can pull them off there later this evening. That would be useful, thanks. You can also try giving the database to vfyserv (not sure if it needs to be the directory path, or if it needs to include the secmod.db leaf), which should theorically make vfyserv do the same thing as evolution. Bug#552185: gnome-bluetooth] read/write access to the /dev/rfkill device is required
Alright, but the bug report claims this issue has been fixed in Linux 2.6.29~rc3 and I am using 2.6.32-3. It doesn't work with 2.6.30-8 from testing either, but this kernel is out of question anyway, because /dev/rfkill has just been added in 2.6.31. Update: I just tried with the linux-image 2.6.31-16.53 package from Ubuntu and it doesn't work either. :( -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#563942: kdelibs: kgpg produces corrupted zip files caused by wrong encoding of umlauts in kzip
Package: kdelibs Version: 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-0lenny3 Severity: grave Tags: patch Justification: causes non-serious data loss kgpg and all other applications that are creating zip files via kzip are producing corrupted zip files if a filename includes e.g. a german umlaut like 'ö'. This is caused by an wrong encoding in KZip::doneWriting(int). To reproduce this behaviour create a folder with an umlaut and drop it to the kgpg trayicon. In the upcoming dialog zip as compression method has to be chosen. After encrypting and saving the zip file it must be decrypted to get the plain zip file. In case of having a umlaut in a foldername this file is corruped. This bug leads to important data loss if a user wants to backup folders securely with kgpg. In an extreme case the user deletes the folder before he checks the integrity of the encrypted zip file. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29.4-id1-k8-9 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages kdelibs depends on: ii kdelibs-data 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-0lenny3 core shared data for all KDE appli ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-0lenny3 core libraries and binaries for al kdelibs recommends no packages. kdelibs suggests no packages. -- no debconf information Index: kio/kio/kzip.cpp === --- kio/kio/kzip.cpp (revision 1065516) +++ kio/kio/kzip.cpp (revision 1065517) @@ -954,8 +954,8 @@ buffer[ 26 ] = char(mysize 16); buffer[ 27 ] = char(mysize 24); -buffer[ 28 ] = char(it.current()-path().length()); // filename length -buffer[ 29 ] = char(it.current()-path().length() 8); +buffer[ 28 ] = char(path.length()); // filename length +buffer[ 29 ] = char(path.length() 8); buffer[ 30 ] = char(extra_field_len); buffer[ 31 ] = char(extra_field_len 8); @@ -1294,9 +1294,10 @@ if ( d-m_extraField == ModificationTime ) extra_field_len = 17; // value also used in doneWriting() +const QCString encodedName = QFile::encodeName(d-m_currentFile-path()); int csize = device()-at() - d-m_currentFile-headerStart() - 30 - - d-m_currentFile-path().length() - extra_field_len; +encodedName.length() - extra_field_len; d-m_currentFile-setCompressedSize(csize); //kdDebug(7040) usize: d-m_currentFile-size() endl; //kdDebug(7040) csize: d-m_currentFile-compressedSize() endl;

Bug#563253: With nss 3.12.5, evolution does not know about _any_ certificate authorities
I just noticed that, when I downgrade to NSS 3.12.2, evolution populates its certificate authorities list (edit - preferences - certificates - authorities). If I upgrade to 3.12.5, run 'evolution --force-shutdown', then re-run evolution, the certificate authority list is empty. Given #563324, I guess that upgrading NSS prevents evolution from verifying certificates entirely. -- Sam Morris s...@robots.org.uk -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. However, python-psycopg2da still depends on zope3, rendering it uninstallable in sid. Bug#561477: [security] must not RE-add /etc/apache2/conf.d/cacti.conf link on upgrade
[please don't use -quiet as I didn't received the responses though I want to contribute were I can] 2010/1/4 Patrick Schoenfeld schoenf...@debian.org: I've noticed in the past that cacti RE-adds the symbolic link conf.d/cacti.conf on every upgrade even if the source file was *manually* removed by the sysadmin. This is done to restrict the access to 'cacti' on each virtual web site (the default behaviour in Debian). * cacti/webserver: Apache2 The question is: Why did you ask to do this in the first place? (according to your debconf settings) Ok, now I see that this is a way of disabling that symlink. Still, I would like to have the '/etc/cacti/apache.conf' file for reference to update my custom config which simply restricts the access to Intranet. So sorry for the noise, except that I still not understand why people answer a priority high question with Configure my webserver: apache2 just for removing the symlink, it results into after, that. The debconf question is Which kind of web server should be used by cacti? so I answered apache2. Maybe this question should be updated to better describe its meaning? Init scripts should in general not use set -e. I opened a bug on Policy a while back to make that clearer. See, for instance, the comment in /etc/init.d/skeleton. Many common operations that one wants to do in an init script, such as starting a daemon and checking its return status, or things like the above are not set -e clean. Neither are the LSB functions to output status of init scripts starting, nor is there really any reason to go to the effort of making them so. For init scripts, explicitly checking the return status where it matters is more robust. set -e often results in strange and difficult-to-debug failures when used in init scripts. -- Russ Allbery (r...@debian.org) http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#563969: remmina: fails to connect to vnc server over ssh tunnel
Am 06.01.2010 20:47, schrieb Luca Falavigna: Hi Johannes, it seems you've been hit by bug #561440 [1], and by IPv6 binonly turned on by default [2]. If you do not want to wait for a fix [3], a workaround consists in turning off IPv6 bindonly by executing the following command as root: # echo 0 /proc/sys/net/ipv6/bindv6only I did that already earlier because sun java networking was also broken by this. So this was not the culprit. If you restart vino-server then the vino server is running on a Debian lenny box at my home. My bug report refers to remmina on a Debian Squeeze installation on my laptop , you will be able to connect to it, not only with remmina, but with every available VNC client. Other VNC clients run just fine. Bug#562910: nfs-utils: diff for NMU version 1:1.2.1-1.1
tags 562729 + patch tags 562757 + patch tags 562910 + patch thanks Hi, I hunted this bug down to somewhere into the libtirpc library (I guess the lib is ok, as rpcbind also uses it). Disabling it makes the bug going away, as the usage of libtirpc is optional I decided to disable it for the NMU to fix nfs in unstable. I'll let any further steps to the maintainer. I've prepared an NMU for nfs-utils (versioned as 1:1.2.1-1.1) and uploaded it to DELAYED/1. Bug#563988: nfs-user-server: Unable to overwrite files correctly
Package: nfs-user-server Version: 2.2beta47-25 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss There is a problem when one tries to replace an existing file using an NFS client that is served by nfs-user-server: The replacement operation fails with EINVAL on the client and on the server the file is replaced with new contents of zero length. In order for this to happen apparently one must first use that same client to create the file. The problem apparently has been known about in ubuntu now for over 2 years with no action taken. There's a succinct scenario described in their bug tracker for reproducing the problem. Please see here: (subject: nfs-user-server destroys files) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nfs-user-server/+bug/162508 Here's the scenario from that bug report: CUT You can reproduce this using bash: r...@hop:/s/tmp# r...@hop:/s/tmp# r...@hop:/s/tmp# r...@hop:/s/tmp# echo test test.txt r...@hop:/s/tmp# cat test.txt test r...@hop:/s/tmp# echo xyz test.txt r...@hop:/s/tmp# cat test.txt test xyz r...@hop:/s/tmp# echo abc test.txt bash: test.txt: Invalid argument r...@hop:/s/tmp# cat test.txt r...@hop:/s/tmp# ls -l test.txt -rw--- 1 root root 0 2008-01-08 09:31 test.txt r...@hop:/s/tmp# where /s is a nfs mount. /CUT I have reproduced this behavior in Debian using the Debian-supplied nfs-user-server version 2.2beta47-25. Guess everyone is using the kernel mode server instead so nobody notices a problem as bad as this. I was trying out this server however in an attempt to work around another issue with the kernel mode server. -Mike Isely -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30.6-scorpion1 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- Mike Isely isely @ pobox (dot) com PGP: 03 54 43 4D 75 E5 CC 92 71 16 01 E2 B5 F5 C1 E8 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#564000: `cgdb_malloc' implicitly converted to pointer
Source: cgdb Version: 0.6.5-1 Severity: serious Usertags: implicit-pointer-conversion Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely to cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and amd64. Function `cgdb_malloc' implicitly converted to pointer at rline.c:452 This is often due to a missing function prototype definition. For more information, see [2]. rline.c appears to be missing an include for sys_util.h. Though it is guaranteed that this codepath will cause a segfault on certain architectures, it is not guaranteed that this codepath would ever be executed (e.g., if the returned pointer is never dereferenced). However, this bug does prevent the ia64 buildd from successfully building this package, resulting in a practical FTBFS issue and warranting the serious severity. Let's say /etc/resolv.conf contains just two nameserver lines, like this: nameserver 2001:1418:10:2::2 nameserver 8.8.8.8 If the first one doesn't reply, the second one is never tried. tcpdump shows that no connection to that is even attempted. The NIS server is running on a Solaris machine. As usual, the Solaris NIS server exports the passwd data in the map passwd and the shadow data in the map passwd.adjunct.byname. These two maps are mangled together in some calls of libc6, for example in getpwnam. This makes it possible for every user who has an account on the NIS client machine to see the encrypted passwords of all NIS users. This is a grave security bug. Furthermore, getspnam returns a NULL pointer for all NIS users, even if getspnam is called by root. Bug#564010: linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-686: fails to boot
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-3 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system I am successfully running 2.6.31. I recently upgraded to 2.6.32 and the system does not boot any more. There was a small itch during installation: I was instructed that firmwares 'iwlagn: iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode\nr8169: rtl8168d-2.fw, rtl8168d-1.fw' would be needed. I could not find iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode (it's not on intel's website and not in the the firmware-iwlwifi package) nor the realtek firmwares... Anyway I guess that those files missing would only result in the network not working, not in the kernel not booting. I guess it would be nice to post the boot log. How can I retrieve the boot log from a kernel that fails to boot? I checked in /var/log but could not find any file with a matching creation date... From what I can see on the screen during the boot process, there MIGHT be an issue with mounting the root partition, or accessing the HD all together. But that seems weird. I am saying this because some of the last messages I can read concern accessing sda... -- Package-specific info: ** Kernel log: boot messages should be attached ** Model information not available ** PCI devices: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Memory Controller Hub [8086:2a40] (rev 07) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:ff40] Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort+ SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Capabilities: access denied Kernel driver in use: agpgart-intel 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a42] (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:ff40] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 31 Region 0: Memory at fd80 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M] Region 2: Memory at d000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Region 4: I/O ports at b400 [size=8] Expansion ROM at unassigned [disabled] Capabilities: access denied 00:02.1 Display controller [0380]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a43] (rev 07) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:ff40] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Region 0: Memory at fdc0 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1M] Capabilities: access denied 00:1a.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 [8086:2937] (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [UHCI]) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:ff40] Control: I/O+ Mem- BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 16 Region 4: I/O ports at b880 [size=32] Capabilities: access denied Kernel driver in use: uhci_hcd 00:1a.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 [8086:2938] (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [UHCI]) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:ff40] Control: I/O+ Mem- BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Interrupt: pin B routed to IRQ 21 Region 4: I/O ports at b800 [size=32] Capabilities: access denied Kernel driver in use: uhci_hcd 00:1a.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB UHCI Controller #6 [8086:2939] (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [UHCI]) Subsystem: Toshiba America Info Systems Device [1179:ff40] Control: I/O+ Mem- BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Interrupt: pin D routed to IRQ 19 Region 4: I/O ports at b480 [size=32] Capabilities: access denied Kernel driver in use: uhci_hcd 00:1a.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 [8086:293c] (rev 03) (prog-if 20 [EHCI])
Bug#564010: linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-686: fails to boot
OK, shame on me: after I wrote this bug report I decided to try to read the kernel message in details to understand more about it and while I was doing so the kernel booted. The explanation is that since the realtek firmware are missing, the kernel fails to turn on the ethernet link, and hangs there for some time, then gives up and carry on with the boot process. So this is no longer a critical bug. Sorry about the false alarm. However, there is still a problem with the packaging: where are the firmwares required? Bug#473400: Reproduce xlock failure..
An easy way to reproduce is to uninstall xscreensaver. I just did this accidentially after not paying much attention to dist-upgrade autoremove and suddenly found xlock to exit immediately after startup. Adding to the confusion, '-mode blank' did not work since Xressources seem to override it. xlock should fall back to blank. And regardless of such failure, it should never just exit/crash. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
