Bug#483217: texlive-latex-base: 483217: status?

2010-03-13 Thread Paul Wise
Ping,

Bug #483217 about licensing issues in files by Donald Arseneau was given
an exception for lenny. Do you plan to do so for squeeze also or has
someone managed to convince him to license his work in a more useful
way?

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of
other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that

2010-03-13 Thread Paul Wise

thanks

This is probably not an issue in wireless-tools, but a firmware issue.

Which version of the firmware-iwlwifi package do you have installed?

Which version of the WiFi firmware did you have installed in CentOS?

Which version of wireless-tools did you have installed in CentOS?

If you change the firmware file to the one installed in CentOS, does
that fix the problem?

If you change the firmware file to the older one listed on the upstream
website, does that fix the problem?

http://intellinuxwireless.org/?n=downloads&f=ucodes_5000

If you download the older versions of wireless tools from snapshot.d.o,
do any of those fix the problem?

state is saved to disk. In that state, the system still uses power,
but resuming is faster. If the battery depletes, the state is
resumed from disk without data loss.
.
Optional features include encrypting the system snapshot and a themeable
splash screen during the suspend and resume processes.
.
To use this package you need a Linux kernel version 2.6.17-rc1 or newer
configured to use an initramfs. Hooks and scripts to integrate with
initramfs-tools are provided.

Bug#568309: shouldn't this bug be closed?

2010-03-13 Thread Andres Cimmarusti
Isn't the fact that the bug is resolved enough to close this blocker bug so
migration can occur?

Bug#570960: shouldn't block migration to testing

2010-03-13 Thread Andres Cimmarusti
IMHO these bug reports were made to the version of grub2 currently in
squeeze (and lenny) and should not prevent migration from sid of the new
version 1.98 which is a stable release (while the version in squeeze is a
snapshot).

Please try the new version of grub2 from Sid. Hopefully this will fix the
problem.

  * Advisory ID: DRUPAL-SA-CORE-2010-001
  * Project: Drupal core
  * Version: 5.x, 6.x
  * Date: 2010-March-03
  * Security risk: Critical
  * Exploitable from: Remote
  * Vulnerability: Multiple vulnerabilities

 DESCRIPTION
-

Multiple vulnerabilities and weaknesses were discovered in Drupal.
 Installation cross site scripting

A user-supplied value is directly output during installation allowing a
malicious user to craft a URL and perform a cross-site scripting attack. The
exploit can only be conducted on sites not yet installed. This issue affects
Drupal 6.x only.
 Open redirection

The API function drupal_goto() is susceptible to a phishing attack. An
attacker could formulate a redirect in a way that gets the Drupal site to
send the user to an arbitrarily provided URL. No user submitted data will be
sent to that URL. This issue affects Drupal 5.x and 6.x.
 Locale module cross site scripting

Locale module and dependent contributed modules do not sanitize the display
of language codes, native and English language names properly. While these
usually come from a preselected list, arbitrary administrator input is
allowed. This vulnerability is mitigated by the fact that the attacker must
have a role with the 'administer languages' permission. This issue affects
Drupal 5.x and 6.x.
 Blocked user session regeneration

Under certain circumstances, a user with an open session that is blocked can
maintain his/her session on the Drupal site, despite being blocked. This
issue affects Drupal 5.x and 6.x.
 VERSIONS AFFECTED
---

  * Drupal 6.x before version 6.16.
  * Drupal 5.x before version 5.22.

 SOLUTION

Install the latest version:
  * If you are running Drupal 6.x then upgrade to Drupal 6.16 [1].
  * If you are running Drupal 5.x then upgrade to Drupal 5.22 [2].

Drupal 5 will no longer be maintained when Drupal 7 is released [3].
Upgrading to Drupal 6 [4] is recommended. If you are unable to upgrade
immediately, you can apply a patch to secure your installation until you are
able to do a proper upgrade. These patches fix the security vulnerabilities,
but do not contain other fixes which were released in Drupal 6.16 or Drupal
5.22.
  * To patch Drupal 6.15 use SA-CORE-2010-001-6.15.patch [5].
  * To patch Drupal 5.21 use SA-CORE-2010-001-5.21.patch [6].

 REPORTED BY
-

The installation cross site scripting issue was reported by David Rothstein
[7] (*). The open redirection was reported by Martin Barbella [8]. The locale
module cross site scripting was reported by Justin Klein Keane [9]. The
blocked user session regeneration issue was reported by Craig A. Hancock
[10]. (*) Member of the Drupal security team.
 FIXED BY

The installation cross site scripting issue was fixed by Heine Deelstra [11].
The open redirection was fixed by Gerhard Killesreiter [12] and Heine
Deelstra [13]. The locale module cross site scripting was fixed by Stéphane
Corlosquet [14], Peter Wolanin [15], Heine Deelstra [16] and Neil Drumm [17].
The blocked user session regeneration issue was fixed by Gerhard Killesreiter
[18]. All the fixes were done by members of the Drupal security team.

Bug#573809: xwax: No longer builds on kfreebsd-*

Source: xwax
Version: 0.7-3
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: kfreebsd

Hi,

your package no longer builds on GNU/kFreeBSD, probably because it's now
using features not provided by the thin alsa layer we have on those
systems.

If it's not possible to get rid of those extra references, one could
think of a (maybe temporary) removal of the relevant binaries, so that
it doesn't prevent your package from migrating to testing.

Bug#573657: libfile-fu-perl: FTBFS: tests failed

2010-03-13 Thread Tim Retout
This looks like a bug in the test - in the block where $x is set,
uncommenting the 'warn' line shows that a directory 'foo' still exists.
But the section where @files is set will ignore directories.

If readdir returns the directory first, then $x will be set to 'foo',
and none of the other files will match that basename. (In fact, all the
other files will get deleted - 'foo' always appears last after the list
has been truncated, but in this case would also be $files[0].)

Probably filesystem-dependent? No CPAN testers have picked this up.

Bug#568689: pysol was discontinued in 2004, pysolfc replaces it

2010-03-13 Thread Craig Sanders
on http://www.pysol.org/

"As of 2004 any work on PySol has stopped, and PySol is officially
  discontinued.

Fortunately a number of enthusiastic people have continued from
where I left off and have created the PySol Fan Club edition. Please
contribute all your patches and enhancements to this new project.

It has been very much fun creating this game, and I hope you will
appreciate the result of my efforts. Share and enjoy!"

the PySol Fan Club edition is at:

http://pysolfc.sourceforge.net/

and it is still actively developed. latest release was in Dec 2009.

it might be worthwhile replacing pysol with pysolfc. screenshots look
a little prettier than pysol, hopefully the playability is as good or
better.

alternatively, if it's possible, recompile pysol against the latest
python-tk (i have to Hold the pysol package to prevent the upgrade of
python-tk from removing pysol).

or both...there's probably no reason why pysol and pysolfc can't
co-exist if them gameplay differs substantially.

BTW, there are also updated card sets in PySolFC-Cardsets v.2.0.

That was the original title, but not the actual issue. :)

Apparently two ways of failing:

Package: ann-tools
Version: 1.1.1+doc-2.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

After installing ann-tools, I'm trying to run the embedded scripts, and I'm
 getting those messages:
/usr/bin/ann_test: error: `/usr/bin/.libs/ann_test' does not exist
This script is just a wrapper for ann_test.
See the libtool documentation for more information.

/usr/bin/ann2fig: error: `/usr/bin/.libs/ann2fig' does not exist
This script is just a wrapper for ann2fig.
See the libtool documentation for more information.

/usr/bin/ann_sample: error: `/usr/bin/.libs/ann_sample' does not exist
This script is just a wrapper for ann_sample.
See the libtool documentation for more information.

It seems that the wrong binaries are installed, and you should install the ones
in .libs.

Thanks,
Fabrice

Bug#573636: diakonos fails to start

2010-03-13 Thread Evgeni Golov
Hi,

just had a quick look at this bug. diakonos needs ruby1.9.1 (and
installs it's files only for 1.9.1) but depends on "ruby >= 1.9.1" which
pulls ruby1.8 per default and has unversioned "ruby" in the shebang.

To solve this bug, one would need to
1. replace the dependency to "ruby1.9.1"
2. replace the shebang to "ruby1.9.1"

Regards
Evgeni

True. But this testing-only and that only because britney let it into
testing despite this condiditon..

Will automatically fix itself when OOo 3.2 enters testing.

Bug#573787: openclipart-openoffice.org: Uninstallable with openoffice.org in testing

2010-03-13 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: openclipart-openoffice.org
Version: 0.18+dfsg-9
Severity: serious
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
UserTags: debian-edu

The openclipart-openoffice.org is currently impossible to install
together with openoffice.org in testing.

When trying 'apt-get install openclipart-openoffice.org
openoffice.org' with openoffice.org installed, I get this report:

Reading package lists...
Building dependency tree...
Reading state information...
openoffice.org is already the newest version.
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  openclipart-openoffice.org: Conflicts: openoffice.org-common (< 1:3.2) but
1:3.1.1-16 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

I'm setting severity to serious under the belief that the purpose of
the openclipart-openoffice.org package is to be installed with the
openoffice.org package, and this is currently not possible.

Happy hacking,

I installed dovecot only since a few days on my laptop because I want to
migrate everything to IMAP and it worked just fine with the default
settings until yesterday. According to my aptitude log the only
interesting change is:

but I rolled back to 0.9.m-1 and I get the same symptoms (I can provide
the full log since installing dovecot if needed).

Please advise if you need more info.

Regards,
Andrei

Package: dovecot-common
Version: 1:1.2.10-1
Severity: important

On unstable with some bits (unrelated to dovecot) from Debian, dovecot-auth
crashes during password authentication (using local evolution as client):

Mar  2 09:35:48 hepcat dovecot: auth(default): worker-server(erich,127.0.0.1):
Aborted: Worker process died unexpectedly
Mar 2 09:35:48 hepcat dovecot: dovecot: child 4865 (auth-worker) killed with
signal 11 (core not dumped)

I tried setting it to allow core dumps, but did not succeed.
I am aware that this can well be in some library (that's why I tried to get a
coredump, to see where the segfault occurs)

My dovecot setup is quite simple - it's a workstation setup, so I only have
myself as user, and I only allow access from localhost, so no need to do any
bigger encryption or difficult mechanism. It should be using PAM.

Bug#571354: Package plugins and GHC 6.12

2010-03-13 Thread Giovanni Mascellani
Hi.

I wrote this mail to you some time ago, but never got a reply. I don't
want to bother you, but I'm resending it just in case the previous copy
had got lost.

I'm a member of the Debian Haskell Team. We recently migrated to GHC
6.12, but you're package seems not to be compilable with GHC 6.12 (the
same happens also on hackage). Hackage failure log is here: [1].

 [1]
http://hackage.haskell.org/packages/archive/plugins/1.4.1/logs/failure/ghc-6.12

I've created a patch (attached) which should fix some of the problems.
Anyway, now I'm facing two errors I'm not able to deal with:

Do you have any advices for me?

I hope the attached patch can be helpful for you. :-)

Thanks, Giovanni.

2010-03-13 Thread Wen-Yen Chuang
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

The bug is due to upstream libxdo API transition.

I have uploaded the latest keynav (0.20100302.2713-1) to
mentors.debian.net and sent an RFS to debian-mentors mailing list.

The package can be found on:
- - dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/k/keynav/keynav_0.20100302.2713-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me. :-)

Bug#573766: tacacs+: Tries to B-D on *versioned* virtual packages

2010-03-13 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Source: tacacs+
Version: 4.0.4.19-4
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS

Hi,

this is just wrong:
| Build-Depends: […] libc6-dev (>= 2.10.2-5) [→]

The name of the development package is SONAME-dependent, which is
architecture-dependent. Where it's not libc6-dev, that one is still
provided, but there's no such thing as versioned provides.

This results in your package's being continously given back:
  https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=tacacs%2B&suite=unstable

(Sponsor Cc'd.)

Bug#573765: libnewlib-dev: Uninstallable on all architectures but i386

2010-03-13 Thread Guillem Jover
Package: libnewlib-dev
Version: 1.18.0-2
Severity: serious

Hi!

The development package libnewlib-dev always depends on libnewlib0, but
the latter is only available on i386 since 1.18.0-2, thus making the
former uninstallable everywhere else.

You might also need to request the removal of the now obsolete
libnewlib0 packages on non-i386 architectures, so that it can
transition to testing.

guillem

Bug#570649: New release of package built with libmagickwand-dev

2010-03-13 Thread Guillaume Delacour
Hi,

In the new release of package that build 3.0.0RC1 version upstream, we
have intention to build-depends on libmagickwand-dev instead of
ibmagick9-dev. The build problem with the current sid version (2.1.1RC1)
is very old, and the 3.0.0RC1 builds fine with olds imagemagick libraries.

No build problem seen after upgrading libmagickcore-dev, libmagickcore3,
libmagickcore3-extra, libmagickwand-dev, libmagickwand3 for now.

I hope the new release for php-imagick will be uploading at most in the
end of this month.

Thanks for notify us to check the build with recent imagemagick libraries !

Bug#570649: Pending php-imagick upload

2010-03-13 Thread Adam D. Barratt
Hi,

I noticed that you recently tagged the outstanding FTBFS bug of
php-imagick as pending; do you have an ETA for the new upload occurring?

We're in the process of transitioning imagemagick to libraries with a new
API; see http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2010/03/msg00096.html.
php-imagick is one of the packages that currently fails with the new
libraries, although that might just be because it's such an old version of
the code.

If you haven't already, it would be good if you could check whether the
new version works with the new imagemagick libraries.

Regards,

Adam

Hi,

I /think/ the 002_ia64_libc.patch patch is a bit braindead. It doesn't
even do the job given there are more than just libc6 and libc6.1. As of
this writing, we have:
  libc6
  libc6.1 on alpha & ia64
  libc0.3 on hurd-i386
  libc0.1 on kfreebsd-*.

Please unfuck this. That triggers FTBFS of e.g. kaa-imlib2 similar to
#559633.

Switching to python2.6 may bring some fun, too; and that's happening
right now.

Mraw,
KiBi.

Hi,

(spotted whilst binNMUing nip2 for the imagemagick transition)

nip2 is currently unbuildable in unstable as it build-depends on
"libgoffice-0-8-dev" which no longer exists; it looks like this should
now be "libgoffice-0.8-dev".

Please update your build-dependency.

Bug#569937: net.ipv6.bindv6only=1 breaks some buggy programs

2010-03-13 Thread Stefan Bauer
Ross,

after a lot of testing, i can't confirm your problem:

Debian stable with latest kernel

No matter if /proc/sys/net/ipv6/bindv6only is set to 0 or 1

I associated a connection and the link was up and used for 30
minutes without any breaks at all.

(within this time, there also have been several forced rekeying
processes to test this as well)

I give this bug 5 more days so people have enough time to come up
with facts / informations about this bug. After that i'll close that
bug as it is not reproducable in my lab.

thanks

package: python2.4

Hi,

The following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) ids were
published for expat. I have determined that this package embeds a
vulnerable copy of xmlparse.c and xmltok_impl.c. However, since this is
a mass bug filing (due to so many packages embedding expat), I have
not had time to determine whether the vulnerable code is actually
present in any of the binary packages derived from this source package.
Please determine whether this is the case. If the binary packages are
not affected, please feel free to close the bug with a message
containing the details of what you did to check.

CVE-2009-3560[0]:
| The big2_toUtf8 function in lib/xmltok.c in libexpat in Expat 2.0.1,
| as used in the XML-Twig module for Perl, allows context-dependent
| attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via an XML
| document with malformed UTF-8 sequences that trigger a buffer
| over-read, related to the doProlog function in lib/xmlparse.c, a
| different vulnerability than CVE-2009-2625 and CVE-2009-3720.

CVE-2009-3720[1]:
| The updatePosition function in lib/xmltok_impl.c in libexpat in Expat
| 2.0.1, as used in Python, PyXML, w3c-libwww, and other software,
| allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service
| (application crash) via an XML document with crafted UTF-8 sequences
| that trigger a buffer over-read, a different vulnerability than
| CVE-2009-2625.

These issues also affect old versions of expat, so this package in etch
and lenny is very likely affected. This is a low-severity security
issue, so DSAs will not be issued to correct these problems. However,
you can optionally submit a proposed-update to the release team for
inclusion in the next stable point releases. If you plan to do this,
please open new bugs and include the security tag so we are aware that
you are working on that.

For further information see [0],[1],[2],[3]. In particular, [2] and [3]
are links to the patches for CVE-2009-3560 and CVE-2009-3720
respectively. Note that the ideal solution would be to make use of the
system expat so only one package will need to be updated for future
security issues. Preferably in your update to unstable, alter your
package to make use of the system expat.

Builds fine for me in two sid cowbuilder chroots (amd64 + i386), one

It should depend over gtk libraries, and in fact newer versions do.

  http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/liblua5.1-gnome-0

Nevertheless, the package is not unusable if you install those
libraries, thus I lower the priority.

As a documentation for this bug, I add to the bugreport the list of
packages you should install to workaround the issue (note that you
really need the -dev version of these packages due to another issue of
lua-gtk, again solved in newer versions)

  apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev libgtkhtml2-dev

Thanks for bug reporting.
