Several people have been unable to reproduce this issue, including
myself in an amd64 cowbuilder chroot with these installed:

ii libgupnp-igd-1.0-dev 0.1.6-1library to handle

Please check if you can still reproduce this and close the bug if not.
Perhaps it has something to do with your local rebuilding?

Bug#573665: hunspell-dict-ko: FTBFS: build hangs

2010-03-14 Thread Changwoo Ryu
Building this package doesn't always fail. It depends on your build
machine's memory and CPU.

Well actually I'm also the upstream author.. :) Building this package
requires insanely HUGE memory and it takes a long time. It's mainly
because it uses a poor algorithm to build combinated words.

This is a annoying problem, but I think it is not release critical.

Hello,

Please drop the libgpm-dev dependency completely. Contrary to what the
name suggests, gpm support in newt doesn't need libgpm, as newt has its
own copy of the libgpm source (and it makes it FTBFS on non-linux archs
which don't have it).

Hello from Thailand Mini-DebCamp 2010 BSP.

If the intention of the package is to Suggests: dictd,
it should restart dictd only when dictd is present,
and never fail otherwise.

I've prepared a patch for this (attached). Is it OK for NMU?

Hi,

your package no longer builds on kfreebsd-amd64:
| Checking Relation.Binary.NonStrictToStrict
(/build/buildd-agda-stdlib_0.3-3-kfreebsd-amd64-vLd1Gu/agda-stdlib-0.3/src/Relation/Binary/NonStrictToStrict.agda).

There are a few build issues on other architectures too.

Full build logs:
 https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=agda-stdlib

Thanks a lot for the report. This is [yet] another instance of Agda
being rather memory hungry. The good thing is that I've seen upstream
talk of working on efficiency improvements. In the meantime, we can
either...

  a) try to increase the stack size, but I'm not sure if there is a
reasonable value to take it to.
  b) provide an untypechecked package (agda-stdlib-untypechecked) which
users will just copy to their own space to use
  c) do nothing and hope that upstream improve Agda enough to make this
 problem go away

  d) your better solution

I don't know which is best at this moment in time, and will ponder on
it.

Cheers,
Iain

I had a problem like this, and solved it by purging (not just
removing) every package called openoffice.org*, and also ure, unoconv,
and packages which depended on these. After reinstallation,
everything worked just fine. It is possible that it is due to
corruption of some database caused by a faulty package (ure?) at some
point.

Please could you try purging and reinstalling all of your
openoffice-related packages and letting us know if the problem
persists?

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages

Downgrading the bug under it works for me, keeping it around because
if someone else can reproduce it, I want to know and to see if fixing
the known issue fixes the reported bug.

(Also wondering if this could be related to #556402)

Bug#573079: debian-edu-config: Building LTSP chroot fail when using CD without local component

2010-03-14 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Petter Reinholdtsen]
The fix is probably to make this code conditional, by mounting the CD
and checking .disk/base_components or something similar to see if the
 CD contain a local component.

Here is a draft patch.

Bug#571532: gij: Bus error when executing ant

2010-03-14 Thread Torsten Werner
reassign 571532 gij
thanks

Please never reassign bugs without giving an explaination. Ant's
upstream developers argue
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=48894 that this
is a bug in gij or its libraries. We have a workaround now but the bug
in gij is still there.

Thanks for the test. Yes, the real fix should be done in doxygen instead.
But as the manpages are not used in Debian anyways, I'll fix it by

Bug#569146: Unable to import video clips

2010-03-14 Thread Torquil Macdonald Sørensen
Package: pitivi
Severity: normal

Hi!

After reinstalling the bare minimum to get pitivi, i.e. apt-get install pitivi
it works (although I don't get any picture, just a black rectangle...). So maybe
it was because of something else I had installed, perhaps som extra gstreamer
packages, I don't know.

Anyhow, I guess this bug report can be closed, since videos import fine now. The
lack of any picture is another matter, and I don't think I have enough time to
try to figure it out.

Best regards
Torquil Sørensen

Hi,

this is just wrong:
| Build-Depends: […] libc6-dev (= 2.10.2-5) [→]

The name of the development package is SONAME-dependent, which is
architecture-dependent. Where it's not libc6-dev, that one is still
provided, but there's no such thing as versioned provides.

This results in your package's being continously given back:

Bug#573766: tacacs+: Tries to B-D on *versioned* virtual packages

 Hi,

 this is just wrong:
 | Build-Depends: […] libc6-dev (= 2.10.2-5) [→]

The name of the development package is SONAME-dependent, which is
architecture-dependent. Where it's not libc6-dev, that one is still
provided, but there's no such thing as versioned provides.

This results in your package's being continously given back:
   https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=tacacs%2Bsuite=unstable

 KiBi.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for pointing this to me and sorry for the inconvenience.
I did just upload an updated version to mentors.d.n, I'm also CCing my sponsor
so he can re-upload the correct package.

Thanks,

Hi Thomas,

do you have any ETA for the 0.6.0 release? If it's not tomorrow, maybe
it'll be better to have a 0.5.2 with the patch you linked to for the
time being?
Just thinking about a possible freeze soon.

Regards
Evgeni

Bug#571924: kdebindings not binNMUable

2010-03-14 Thread Evgeni Golov
Hi,

kdebindings is binNMUable very well. The bug you report has a slightly
different source.

debian/control contains:
Package: python-kde4
Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${python:Depends}, ${misc:Depends},
 python-qt4 (= ${python-qt4:Version}), python-qt4 (
${python-qt4:Version}+~),
 python-sip4 (= ${python-sip4:Version}), python-sip4 (
${python-sip4:Version}+~)

python-qt4:Version and python-sip4:Version are filled in debian/rules
by:
 echo python-qt4:Version=`dpkg -l python-qt4 | tail -1 | awk '{print $$3}'`
 debian/python-kde4.substvars
 echo python-sip4:Version=`dpkg -l python-sip4 | tail -1 | awk '{print
$$3}'` debian/python-kde4.substvars
 echo python-qt4:Version=`dpkg -l python-qt4 | tail -1 | awk '{print $$3}'`
 debian/python-kde4-dev.substvars
 echo python-sip4:Version=`dpkg -l python-sip4 | tail -1 | awk '{print
$$3}'` debian/python-kde4-dev.substvars

That's perfectly fine, as long we ignore the fact that the sip4 packages
were renamed to sip in 4.10-1.
kdebinding Build-Depends on sip4 (= 4.7.8), python-sip4-dev (= 4.7.8),
which pulls python-sip-dev and therefor python-sip.
No python-sip4 to check it's version, and voila, we have none in
there.

To fix this bug, one would need to:
1. Build-Depend on python-sip-dev (the sip4 package is gone/empty)
2. Replace the Depends of python-kde4 with unversioned sip packages
3. Check the version of the unversioned sip packages in debian/rules (or
use dh_sip here, which is new)

Regards
Evgeni

Please never reassign bugs without giving an explaination.

right, there was no information when it was reassigned to gij.

Ant's upstream developers argue
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=48894 that this
is a bug in gij or its libraries. We have a workaround now but the bug
in gij is still there.

Thanks for reporting this!

Afer some investigation, I found that the problem is in the line 991
 of rrd_cgi.c:

   last = rrd_last(argc + 1, (char **) args - 1);

The first argument of rrd_last() should obviously be argc (which is 2),
not argc + 1. Also please note that second argument of the function
refers to address before the start of the array, which seems to
be a very bad programming style, and which in fact is a root cause of the
crash as rrd_last() tries to display argv[0] in an error message.

Ouch! What an ugly hack …

The attached patch fixes the problem.

Thanks for tracing that back and providing a patch! Imho, the patch
looks fine. With this E-mail, I'm forwarding the issue and the patch
upstream, hoping for inclusion in the upstream SVN. I'll upload a fixed
package to Debian soonish.

Cheers,
Sebastian

Bug#573638: [rrd-developers] Bug#573638: rrdtool: rrdcgi crashes at printlasttime()

2010-03-14 Thread Tobias Oetiker
Hi Robert,

in 2012:2013 I put in the patch below ... this should provide a
more generic fix for the problem. rrd_cgi functions all used to
fail horribly when a librrd function tried to touch ARGV[0] (mostly
to print an errror message including the name name of the calling
program) ...

obviously an even better fix would be to remove the whole argv
magic from rrd_cgi ... but this patch would be rather substantial.

cheers
tobi

 Thanks for reporting this!

Afer some investigation, I found that the problem is in the line 991
  of rrd_cgi.c:

last = rrd_last(argc + 1, (char **) args - 1);

Ouch! What an ugly hack ?

The attached patch fixes the problem.

Thanks for tracing that back and providing a patch! Imho, the patch
looks fine. With this E-mail, I'm forwarding the issue and the patch
upstream, hoping for inclusion in the upstream SVN. I'll upload a fixed
 package to Debian soonish.

 Cheers,
 Sebastian

2010-03-14 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
severity 573846 important
thanks

[Mikolaj Menke]
There is no sound with OSS in iceweasel, but there used to be. I do not know
if it is related to flashplugin upgrade.

Given URL: http://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/NoLinuxDevDsp , the
release goal to get programs to stop using OSS, why should OSS work
with flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound?

I assume OSS is not used by everyone, which mean that the packacage do
not fail to work for everyone, and thus the severity should be
important and not grave.

Happy hacking,

Bug#573877: gmime2.4: CVE-2010-0409: buffer overflow can lead to DoS or arbitrary code execution

2010-03-14 Thread Emilio Pozuelo Monfort
Package: gmime2.4
Version: 2.4.14-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

Buffer overflow in the GMIME_UUENCODE_LEN macro in gmime/gmime-encodings.h
in GMime before 2.4.15 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial
of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via input
data for a uuencode operation.

http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2010-0409

gmime 2.4.15 fixes it.

Stable is not affected as gmime2.4 doesn't exist there, and there's #568291
for gmime2.2 (which exists in stable).

Cheers,
Emilio

Perhaps it has something to do with your local rebuilding?

I just reproduced it in a vanilla pbuilder chroot setup (as I did when I first
reported the bug as well). Actually, the build succeeded the first time I
tried it and then failed the second time -- and the second time it said 2 of
12 tests failed instead of the 1 of 12 from my original report. So it looks
like some of the tests might have race conditions or some other timing-
dependent behavior which causes them to fail some of the time.

I'm closing this bug since the package builds just fine on mips after
the last upload. Since no changes were made to address this issue, I
assume it was never a real bug in this package but rather in some other
build-dependency that has now been fixed (see the full log for more
details).

Version: 0.7.2-1
Severity: grave

Hi,
if anything goes wrong plymouth falls back to text mode, however
plymouthd then crashes since it can't parse the release info file.
Attached to patches fix this. The second one sets the correct path during
configure while the first one fixes the parsing function to parse what
Debian expects. This way plymouth at least works in text mode. Please
apply.
Cheers,

Hi!

No matter what video format I try to import, pitivi says An error occurred

I ran the application.

I have all the different gstreamer video format plugins installed, via the
good, bad, ugly and really-ugly packages.

   t/findknob.t ..
   Dubious, test returned 1 (wstat 256, 0x100)
   Failed 1/1 subtests

Builds fine for me in two sid cowbuilder chroots (i386, amd64), and
the test looks rather harmless ...

 Anyone else with ideas?

Apparently it fails because I'm building on tmpfs (it's reproducible by
building in /dev/shm). I'm not aware of anything non-standard in tmpfs
that would cause tests to fail. Something interesting is that tmpfs uses
timestamps with sub-second precision, which is not the case on ext3 (but
is the case on ext4).

Ralf recommends xvfb-run -a make test

-a, --auto-servernum = Try to get a free server number, starting at 99,
 or the argument to --server-num.

 $ (xvfb-run sleep 1 )  xvfb-run sleep 1
xvfb-run: error: Xvfb failed to start

 (xvfb-run -a sleep 1 ) xvfb-run -a sleep 1
 # will sleep well ;-)

so probably what cause the bug report were two builds using xvfb-run at
 the same time?

That's possible, yes. I run 10 builds at the same time on the same
machine.

Ah, that explains why I couldn#t reproduce the bug.
Thanks for the analysis!

Cool.
So adding -a [0] has a good chance of avoiding this problem, I guess.

Cheers,

That fits Tim's ideas well; let's hope he can come up with a patch
(hint, hint :)).
