However, one cannot use such an address in /etc/apt/sources.list because when parsing, apt url-decodes the _whole_ string instead of just the path. Thereforce, the workaround of specifying %25 instead of % works (that is, http://[fe80::216:eaff:fecb:826%25wlan2]/debian works). The attached code modifies the parsing so that it only url-decodes after finding the protocol (two slashes) and the hostname (one slash after the protocol has been found). -- Package-specific info: -- /etc/apt/sources.list -- deb http://[fe80::216:eaff:fecb:826%wlan2]/debian testing main contrib non-free -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29.1-midna-2 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages apt depends on: ii debian-archive-keyring2009.01.31 GnuPG archive keys of the Debian a ii libc6 2.9-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.4.0-5 GCC support library ii libstdc++64.4.0-5The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 apt recommends no packages. Bug#551926: cannot be installed together with pip or pip-python
Just to confirm my intuition, I did a little bit of research: * Perl pip 1.16 was release November 2009, pip 0.13 (the previous version) was released December 2007. There's no evidence of development in the svn repository between those times, why 0.13 jumped to 1.16 I don't know. * Python pip 0.2 was released October 2008 and has had 11 releases since then. * Perl's pip has 3 open bugs and zero closed bugs. * Python's pip has 37 open bugs (okay, more than I'd like) and 44 closed bugs. * Python's pip has 41 forked repositories and 160 followers on bitbucket. * I've invested significantly in the pip name and idea. I see no evidence of any such investment for Perl's pip. Zero. * Maybe there is a shadow user base of Perl's pip, but if so they've boycotted the web. * There have been 82k cumulative downloads of Python pip via PyPI (I can't compare to Perl's pip though, as CPAN doesn't track these numbers). * There have been 126k cumulative downloads of virtualenv which include Python pip (virtualenv has included pip since version 1.3.1) So I'll stand firmly by the name: I and a lot of other people have invested in the code, the brand, and the idea of Python's pip, and I see no evidence of any investment in Perl's pip. It's hard to find a name for a project, requiring that there be no overlap with any discarded or lightly maintained project out there is too much to ask.

Bug#575043: workrave: keeps crashing with 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'
Package: workrave Version: 1.9.1-2 Severity: serious Tags: sid Justification: renders package almost unusable Workrave keeps crashing with the following message : The program 'workrave' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'. (Details: serial 3085036 error_code 3 request_code 15 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) It is unfortunately not very easy to determine what is causing it. Causing intense X activity seems to help (switching very fast between desktops). Also, I tried getting a backtrace as suggested, but gdb seems unable to break on gdk_x_error(). -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.31-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: lang=fr...@euro, lc_ctype=fr...@euro (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages workrave depends on: ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.20-2 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libatk1.0-0 1.28.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libbonobo2-0 2.24.2-1 Bonobo CORBA interfaces library ii libbonoboui2-02.24.2-1 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.10.2-6 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcairo2 1.8.10-3 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libcairomm-1.0-1 1.8.0-1C++ wrappers for Cairo (shared lib ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.22-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.84-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libfontconfig12.8.0-2generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.3.11-1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.3-4 GCC support library ii libgconf2-4 2.28.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgdome2-0 0.8.1+debian-4 DOM level2 library for accessing X ii libglib2.0-0 2.22.4-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libglibmm-2.4-1c2a2.22.1-2 C++ wrapper for the GLib toolkit ( ii libgnet2.0-0 2.0.8-2GNet network library ii libgnome2-0 2.28.0-1 The GNOME library - runtime files ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.26.0-1 A powerful object-oriented display ii libgstreamer0.10-00.10.28-1 Core GStreamer libraries and eleme ii libgtk2.0-0 2.18.9-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a 1:2.18.2-1 C++ wrappers for GTK+ 2.4 (shared ii libice6 2:1.0.6-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii liborbit2 1:2.14.17-2libraries for ORBit2 - a CORBA ORB ii libpanel-applet2-02.28.0-3 library for GNOME Panel applets ii libpango1.0-0 1.26.2-2 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpangomm-1.4-1 2.26.0-1 C++ Wrapper for pango (shared libr ii libpopt0 1.15-1 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libsigc++-2.0-0c2a2.2.4.2-1 type-safe Signal Framework for C++ ii libsm62:1.1.1-1 X11 Session Management library ii libstdc++64.4.3-4The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-2 X11 client-side library ii libxml2 2.7.7.dfsg-1 GNOME XML library ii libxtst6 2:1.1.0-2 X11 Testing -- Resource extension ii workrave-data 1.9.1-2Repetitive Strain Injury preventio workrave recommends no packages. workrave suggests no packages. -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#575030: perl: 5.10.0 site directories missing from @INC
Package: perl-base Version: 5.10.1-11 Severity: serious Tags: patch, pending Debian Perl Policy, section 2.3 (Module Path), states that site directories of binary compatible earlier Perl versions should be on @INC: site (old) site directories (as above) for modules installed with previously released perl packages for which the current package is binary compatible are included if present. In the case of the current version, 5.10.1, we should append /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.0 and /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.0 to @INC if they exist. The code that's supposed to do this is the #ifdef PERL_INC_VERSION_LIST block in http://patch-tracker.debian.org/patch/series/view/perl/5.10.1-11/debian/mod_paths.diff but unfortunately it doesn't currently work as intended, apparently because the 5.10 series added an additional Configure variable, d_inc_version_list, that we don't currently override from config.over, so PERL_INC_VERSION_LIST never gets defined. This would apply to the lenny version too, but there are no earlier binary compatible versions to include there as lenny shipped with 5.10.0. Patch attached. I'll look at including a couple of other fixes in 5.10.1-12 so it may take a few days until the upload. -- Niko Tyni nt...@debian.org >From 34e9b0d3bbaf426500788a93aa6fbc2835a83f99 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Niko Tyni Date: Mon, 22 Mar 2010 23:47:08 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] Properly include the 5.10.0 site directories on @INC as per Perl policy. --- debian/changelog |1 + debian/config.over |3 +++ 2 files changed, 4 insertions(+), 0 deletions(-) diff --git a/debian/changelog b/debian/changelog index 61b6f34..7b9bc55 100644 --- a/debian/changelog +++ b/debian/changelog @@ -3,6 +3,7 @@ perl (5.10.1-12) UNRELEASED; urgency=low * Fix the location of an Archive::Tar test file. * Update perl-base conflict versions on libscalar-list-utils-perl and libxsloader-perl. + * Properly include the 5.10.0 site directories on @INC as per Perl policy. -- Niko Tyni Tue, 16 Mar 2010 00:57:27 +0200 diff --git a/debian/config.over b/debian/config.over index 91abbdf..c84 100644 --- a/debian/config.over +++ b/debian/config.over @@ -48,6 +48,9 @@ do inc_version_list="$ver${inc_version_list:+ }$inc_version_list" inc_version_list_init="\"$ver\",$inc_version_list_init" done

tags 558983 + patch thanks I forwardported some code from waf 1.5.0, which allows to build stuff without using threads. Bug#575002: cvc3: FTBFS on various archs/in various ways
Kibi, Thanks for reporting this. I've already file a bug upstream for these errors. As the problem architectures are not directly supported by upstream and I don't have access to testing machines for these architectures, I'm not sure what the correct resolution is. Should I remove these architectures in debian/control? Note also that bug also likely affects package version 2.2-7, which didn't run the regressions in debian/rules. Is there a mechanism to revoke the affected binary packages from testing? -Chris On Mon, Mar 22, 2010 at 3:26 PM, Cyril Brulebois wrote: > Source: cvc3 > Version: 2.2-11 > Severity: serious > Justification: FTBFS > > Hi, > > your package FTBFS in various ways, on various archs: > > armel: > | Running API test, regress level = 0 > | > | test(): { > | Lambda application: (LAMBDA (x: INT): x)(1) > | Simplified: 1 > | > | } > | test1(): { > | Query: TRUE > | Valid > | > | Query: FALSE > | Invalid > | > | Query: (p OR NOT p) > | Valid > | > | Query: ((x = y) => (f(x) = f(y))) > | make[2]: *** [regress] Error 1 > | make[1]: *** [regress0] Error 2 > > kfreebsd-amd64: > | Java API test > | * > | /usr/bin/make -C java test 2>&1 \ > | | tee -a regressions.log; [ ${PIPESTATUS[0]} -eq 0 ] > | make[3]: Entering directory > `/build/buildd-cvc3_2.2-11-kfreebsd-amd64-5_aMGU/cvc3-2.2/java' > | /usr/lib/jvm/default-java/bin/java -d64 > -Djava.library.path=../java/lib/x86_64-kfreebsd-gnu -ea -jar > ../java/lib/cvc3test.jar > | make[3]: *** [test] Bus error (core dumped) > > kfreebsd-i386: > | Query: ((x = y) => (f(x) = f(y))) > | terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc' > | what(): std::bad_alloc > | make[2]: *** [regress] Error 1 > > s390: > | Running API test, regress level = 0 > | > | test(): { > | Lambda application: (LAMBDA (x: INT): x)(1) > | Simplified: 1 > | > | } > | test1(): { > | Query: TRUE > | Valid > | > | Query: FALSE > | Invalid > | > | Query: (p OR NOT p) > | Valid > | > | Query: ((x = y) => (f(x) = f(y))) > | make[2]: *** [regress] Error 1 > | make[1]: *** [regress0] Error 2 > | make: *** [debian/stamp-makefile-check] Error 2 > > Full build logs: > https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=cvc3 > > Mraw, > KiBi. > > > -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#545751: mysql-server-5.1: /etc/mysql/debian.cnf unreadable
Hello, I got bitten by this bug. While debugging startup script (/etc/init.d/mysql), it tries to read /etc/mysql/debian.cnf but this file is rw--- owned by root:root, causing following error: ++ /usr/bin/mysqladmin --defaults-file=/etc/mysql/debian.cnf ping + ping_output='/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at '\''localhost'\'' failed error: '\''Can'\''t connect to local MySQL server through socket '\''/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'\'' (2)'\'' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '\''/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'\'' exists!' I also need to have 'lo' loopback network interface up and a resolvable localhost domain :-) Well, at least doing a chmod a+r to debian.cnf fixed my problem which it is unsafe for multiuser computers. I hope this helps to find a proper fix to this issue. Bug#574990: nscd crashes after moderate use
Package: nscd Version: 2.7-18lenny2 Severity: grave Hi, on all (?) our servers we see repeated crashes of nscd: [ 3687.306397] nscd[3340]: segfault at 10 ip 7f6b22ce3685 sp 7fffc977bb60 error 6 in nscd[7f6b22cdd000+1c000] This happens mostly between 3000 and 6000 seconds after starting. We have 3003 users in our LDAP, so we increased the 'suggested-size' to a high prime number 1, removed the dbs and restarted nscd. The crashes happen nevertheless, rendering nscd completely unusable on our systems. I'd like to provide more debugging information, but I don't really know how at the moment ... Bug#558983: Bug#573403: FTBFS: waf spinning for flowcanvas/hppa
* Marc Brockschmidt , 2010-03-11, 08:04: waf now breaks building of packages we need for a transition (flowcanvas/hppa). It would be nice if someone would care enough to either fix this or write a patch moving flowcanvas to sane build system. Otherwise, I will remove flowcanvas from testing in a few days to allow the liblo transition to happen. Let me take another sip of my coffee ... OK. Of course, s/liblo/graphviz/. To make some things straight: 1. This does not really look like a waf's fault: http://lists.debian.org/debian-hppa/2010/01/msg00035.html 2. Nonetheless, waf sucks and its maintainer has shown some hostility to Debian: http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2010/02/msg00714.html So indeed, switching to a saner build system might be a best solution. 3. I have some ideas how to work-around those bugs, but I need a few more days. -- Jakub Wilk signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#574973: fglrx-glx uninstallable on i386: depends on amd64-only package fglrx-glx-ia32
Package: fglrx-glx Version: 1:10-3~prerelease-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable The dependencies of fglrx-glx are currently use ${shlibs:Depends} in the control file and the substvars after building in a clean i386 sid chroot have: misc:Depends= shlibs:Depends=fglrx-glx-ia32, libc6 (>= 2.1.3), libc6 (>= 2.3.6-6~), libgcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1), libxext6 (>= 0) which results in the i386 package having a dependency on an amd64-only package. This is, of course, unsatisfiable and the package is then uninstallable. The packages recently uploaded to sid show this problem too. have fun! I discovered this with my archive wide consistency check. The results from this check is available from http://lintian.debian.org/~pere/ >. Please undo the change, or at least coordinate it with the maintainer of multipath-tools-boot if module-init-tools should run after mountall and mountoverflowtmp during boot or before umountfs during shutdown (the packages defined as $local_fs). I realise that this change was done to get rid of a lintian warning, but in this case the lintian warning is not relevant (it is relevant for most packages, but not those starting in rcS.d/ before mountall. :) This patch would solve the issue, making sure module-init-tools can start before multipath-tools-boot which is a dependency of $local_fs. --- module-init-tools-3.12~pre2/debian/module-init-tools.init 2010-03-18 22:15:16.0 +0100 +++ module-init-tools-3.12~pre2-pere/debian/module-init-tools.init 2010-03-18 22:15:48.0 +0100 @@ -3,7 +3,7 @@ # Provides: module-init-tools # Required-Start: # Required-Stop: -# Should-Start: $local_fs +# Should-Start: checkroot # Should-Stop: # Default-Start: S # Default-Stop: Happy hacking, -- Petter Reinholdtsen --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: module-init-tools Source-Version: 3.12~pre2-2 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of module-init-tools, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: module-init-tools-udeb_3.12~pre2-2_i386.udeb to main/m/module-init-tools/module-init-tools-udeb_3.12~pre2-2_i386.udeb module-init-tools_3.12~pre2-2.diff.gz to main/m/module-init-tools/module-init-tools_3.12~pre2-2.diff.gz module-init-tools_3.12~pre2-2.dsc to main/m/module-init-tools/module-init-tools_3.12~pre2-2.dsc module-init-tools_3.12~pre2-2_i386.deb to main/m/module-init-tools/module-init-tools_3.12~pre2-2_i386.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Bug#574852: sofa-framework: FTBFS: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ltinyxml
Starting from 2.5.3-2 the TinyXML package contains both variants of TinyXML: with and without support for the C++ STL (2.5.3-1 only contained the former). I decided to rename the STL variant from tinyxml to tinyxml-stl so no one links to it without thinking about it as applications might segfault when they are linked to the wrong library. Bug#574516: ltspfs: USB stick did not mount on server
[Vagrant Cascadian] > some things to check: > > * fuse module is loaded > * /dev/fuse is writeable by group fuse Both ok. > * user is in fuse group This is not OK. The user is not in the fuse group. I investigated, and the reason is that the pam_group module is not enabled. pam-auth-update do not have support for pam_group yet. This is bug report in #370346. Can ltspfs be configured to use consolekit/policykit instead? It would be better to get this working out of the box without pam_group. Aftet activating pam_group using the patch in #370346, the user was in the fuse group after login, and the mounting happened on the server. No KDE popup showed up, thought. :( >> but would prefer a popup in KDE as well. > > this seems like a separate issue, really. you might be able to use > the ltspfs-mounter.d hooks. see > /usr/share/doc/ltspfs/examples/kde-desktop-icons for an example > hook. Bug#574815: illegal version number in package dependencies
severity 574815 serious # justification: prevent reaching squeeze Hi, On Sonntag, 21. März 2010, Ralf Treinen wrote: > python-kde4 contains, at least on amd64, dependencies on > > python-sip4 (>= ), python-sip4 (<< +~) > > which is of course rubbish (and even syntactically wrong, as is not > a legal version number allowed by policy). Raising the severity as some tools just choke, ie kdebindings has the same depends in sid currently, and this totally breaks piuparts.d.o, thus I have disabled sid testing in piuparts for several weeks now. cheers, Holger signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
