Severity: wishlist

Hi,

with the current default configuration, nginx basically ignores IPv6 and
listens at IPv4 addresses only. Please consider adding out-of-the-box
support for IPv6.

When specifying an IPv6 link local address one needs to specify the scope
identifier
(on which interface this address is valid), such as
fe80::216:eaff:fecb:826%wlan2.

However, one cannot use such an address in /etc/apt/sources.list because when
parsing,
apt url-decodes the _whole_ string instead of just the path. Thereforce, the
workaround
of specifying %25 instead of % works (that is,
http://[fe80::216:eaff:fecb:826%25wlan2]/debian works).

The attached code modifies the parsing so that it only url-decodes after
finding the
protocol (two slashes) and the hostname (one slash after the protocol has been
found).

Thanks.

Adding,

listen [::]:80;

to /etc/nginx/sites-available/default file should be sufficient for
both IPv4 + IPv6 support. Correct me if I'm wrong :)

Bug#551926: cannot be installed together with pip or pip-python

2010-03-22 Thread Ian Bicking
Just to confirm my intuition, I did a little bit of research:

* Perl pip 1.16 was release November 2009, pip 0.13 (the previous version)
was released December 2007. There's no evidence of development in the svn
repository between those times, why 0.13 jumped to 1.16 I don't know.
* Python pip 0.2 was released October 2008 and has had 11 releases since
then.
* Perl's pip has 3 open bugs and zero closed bugs.
* Python's pip has 37 open bugs (okay, more than I'd like) and 44 closed
bugs.
* Python's pip has 41 forked repositories and 160 followers on bitbucket.
* I've invested significantly in the pip name and idea. I see no evidence
of any such investment for Perl's pip. Zero.
* Maybe there is a shadow user base of Perl's pip, but if so they've
boycotted the web.
* There have been 82k cumulative downloads of Python pip via PyPI (I can't
compare to Perl's pip though, as CPAN doesn't track these numbers).
* There have been 126k cumulative downloads of virtualenv which include
Python pip (virtualenv has included pip since version 1.3.1)

So I'll stand firmly by the name: I and a lot of other people have invested
in the code, the brand, and the idea of Python's pip, and I see no evidence
of any investment in Perl's pip. It's hard to find a name for a project,
requiring that there be no overlap with any discarded or lightly maintained
project out there is too much to ask.

Sendmail definitely supports IPv6, and I strongly suspect Postfix does as
well. This makes Qmail the unusual one in /not/ supportting IPv6. Given
the increasing prevalence of support, I'd suggest either documenting the
lack of support or including the Qmail IPv6 patch.

Qmail IPv6 patch is at:

There are no TCP listeners in the qmail package. The TCP layer is handled by
another package. I would be more than happy to add IPV6, but since it doesn't
have any TCP listeners, it is not possible.

Cheers!

Bug#575043: workrave: keeps crashing with 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'

2010-03-22 Thread Raphael Rigo
Package: workrave
Version: 1.9.1-2
Severity: serious
Tags: sid
Justification: renders package almost unusable

Workrave keeps crashing with the following message :

The program 'workrave' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 3085036 error_code 3 request_code 15 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

It is unfortunately not very easy to determine what is causing it.
Causing intense X activity seems to help (switching very fast between desktops).

Also, I tried getting a backtrace as suggested, but gdb seems unable to break
on gdk_x_error().

thanks for the report... we've been here before. :)

this seems to be a repeat of:

  http://bugs.debian.org/398630

essentially, ltsp-client-core shouldn't be installed on a normal system, and
checks for the presence of /etc/ltsp_chroot, and errors out if it doesn't find
it (which is created by ltsp-build-client).

it does issue an error through debconf at priority critical, though the
noninteractive debconf frontend still seems to silently discard error messages
(or email when possible, but in this case, a chroot, it's often not possible):

  http://bugs.debian.org/367497
  http://bugs.debian.org/398707

i guess i can manually output an error message using echo (with mangled file
descriptors due to the running debconf interface) in the next ltsp upload, but
it seems a little redundant to duplicate the message in two places. i'd almost
rather not work around it that way...

live well,
  vagrant

Package: x11-common
Version: 1:7.4+4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

With this last update of x11-common package and dependencies, I've got color
problems and no keyboard in a x session.

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 661/741/760
PCI/AGP or 662/761Gx PCIE VGA Display Adapter

To "resolve" the problem, I had to add a lenny cdrom in my sources.list, delete
x11-common and xserver-* and dependencies, and reinstall t$
But, I cannot make a normal dist-upgrade now. I have to create an apt
preference file until a new update.

I can also confirm that the bug is present in grub-pc/1.98~20100115-1,
but not in grub-pc/1.98-1

As a consequence, I think that this bug report may be closed as fixed in
version 1.98-1, but I'll wait for an opinion from GRUB Maintainers
and/or from the original bug report submitter: they can close the bug
with the canonical message to 565706-d...@b.d.o having the proper
Version pseudo-header, if they agree...

Bug#561305: waf fixed on hppa

2010-03-22 Thread Jakub Wilk

Hello,

I prepared a patch for xmms2 that fixes hangs/crashes of waf on hppa:
http://bugs.debian.org/558983#43

There's a good chance that this patch can be successfully ported
to other packages.

However, most likely the patch will *not* be included in the waf package
itself; on the contrary, this package is scheduled for removal:

Severity: serious

Tinyproxy 1.8.0 can in some cases bind only to the loopback interface
instead of 0.0.0.0 wildcard, as happened with 1.6.3. This is a serious
enough regression to make it not safe for testing transition, so I'm filing
bug to block it.

The bug is already fixed upstream and will be released as 1.8.1 next week.

ah, well, that's expected behavior. ltspfs is a fuse filesystem, and will not
work without permissions in the fuse group.

that would be nice, but would really require getting fuse filesystems to work
with policykit/consolekit in general, rather than specifically ltspfs.

i do not knowing what a KDE popup even is. is it a filemanager thing? an
info/message system? is there a command that can be run to trigger a popup?

Bug#575030: perl: 5.10.0 site directories missing from @INC

2010-03-22 Thread Niko Tyni
Package: perl-base
Version: 5.10.1-11
Severity: serious
Tags: patch, pending

Debian Perl Policy, section 2.3 (Module Path), states that site
directories of binary compatible earlier Perl versions should be on @INC:

site (old)

site directories (as above) for modules installed with previously
released perl packages for which the current package is binary
compatible are included if present.

In the case of the current version, 5.10.1, we should append
/usr/local/share/perl/5.10.0 and /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.0 to @INC if
they exist.

The code that's supposed to do this is the #ifdef PERL_INC_VERSION_LIST
block in

http://patch-tracker.debian.org/patch/series/view/perl/5.10.1-11/debian/mod_paths.diff

but unfortunately it doesn't currently work as intended, apparently
because the 5.10 series added an additional Configure variable,
d_inc_version_list, that we don't currently override from config.over,
so PERL_INC_VERSION_LIST never gets defined.

This would apply to the lenny version too, but there are no earlier
binary compatible versions to include there as lenny shipped with 5.10.0.

Patch attached. I'll look at including a couple of other fixes in 5.10.1-12
so it may take a few days until the upload.

The full build log is available from:
 http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2010/03/16/itrans-fonts.log

It is reproducible by installing your package in a clean chroot, using
the debconf Noninteractive frontend, and priority: critical.

This test was carried out using about 50 AMD64 nodes of the Grid'5000
platform. Internet was not accessible from the nodes.

Bug#574973: marked as done (fglrx-glx uninstallable on i386: depends on amd64-only package fglrx-glx-ia32)

Package: fglrx-glx
Version: 1:10-3~prerelease-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The dependencies of fglrx-glx are currently use ${shlibs:Depends} in the
control file and the substvars after building in a clean i386 sid chroot have:

misc:Depends=
shlibs:Depends=fglrx-glx-ia32, libc6 (>= 2.1.3), libc6 (>= 2.3.6-6~), libgcc1
(>= 1:4.1.1), libxext6 (>= 0)

which results in the i386 package having a dependency on an amd64-only package.
This is, of course, unsatisfiable and the package is then uninstallable.

The packages recently uploaded to sid show this problem too.

have fun!
Stuart

AFAIK it uses /var/cache/ddclient.cache, never even thought it was using /tmp
Guess I'll have to investigate that.

thanks

I forwardported some code from waf 1.5.0, which allows to build stuff
without using threads. With the attached patch, xmms2 has been
successfully built on the hppa porterbox (whereas build was crashing or
hanging without it).

Bug#575002: cvc3: FTBFS on various archs/in various ways

2010-03-22 Thread Christopher L Conway
Kibi,

Thanks for reporting this. I've already file a bug upstream for these
errors. As the problem architectures are not directly supported by
upstream and I don't have access to testing machines for these
architectures, I'm not sure what the correct resolution is. Should I
remove these architectures in debian/control? Note also that bug also
likely affects package version 2.2-7, which didn't run the regressions
in debian/rules. Is there a mechanism to revoke the affected binary
packages from testing?

Bug#545751: mysql-server-5.1: /etc/mysql/debian.cnf unreadable

2010-03-22 Thread Hector Oron
Hello,

I got bitten by this bug. While debugging startup script
(/etc/init.d/mysql), it tries to read /etc/mysql/debian.cnf but this
file is rw--- owned by root:root, causing following error:

++ /usr/bin/mysqladmin --defaults-file=/etc/mysql/debian.cnf ping
+ ping_output='/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at
'\''localhost'\'' failed
error: '\''Can'\''t connect to local MySQL server through socket
'\''/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'\'' (2)'\''
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket:
'\''/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'\'' exists!'

I also need to have 'lo' loopback network interface up and a
resolvable localhost domain :-)

Well, at least doing a chmod a+r to debian.cnf fixed my problem which
it is unsafe for multiuser computers.

I hope this helps to find a proper fix to this issue.

Kind regards,

Package: kmymoney2-plugin-aqbanking
Version: 1.0-1
Severity: serious

Just opened a kmymoney 1.0.2 file in the current version of kmymoney
(3.95.0+svn1069391-2) in unstable. I noticed that "update account" is disabled
for all my accounts I previously attached to aqbanking in kmymoney 1.0.2. I
cannot find any aqbanking settings inside kmymoney. So I would think that it
doesn't work at all.

As this makes it unusable for everyone using it, I mark this bug as serious.

We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

kmymoney2-plugin-aqbanking | 1.0-1 | source, alpha, amd64, armel, hppa,
hurd-i386, i386, ia64, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

--- Reason ---
ROM; obsolete and FTBFS
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded

Package: cabal-install
Version: 0.8.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

The following is the error I see:

$ cabal list
cabal: failed to parse output of 'ghc-pkg dump'

And here is the version info:

$ ghc-pkg list Cabal
/var/lib/ghc-6.12.1/package.conf.d
   Cabal-1.8.0.2

$ cabal --version
cabal-install version 0.6.0
using version 1.6.0.1 of the Cabal library

I think that cabal-install is not compatible with Cabal-1.8.0.2, but I assume
this is a dependency problem on ghc-6.12.1?

Let me know if I can provide more information and thanks for the help.

Bug#574990: nscd crashes after moderate use

2010-03-22 Thread Lukas Kolbe
Package: nscd
Version: 2.7-18lenny2
Severity: grave

Hi,

on all (?) our servers we see repeated crashes of nscd:

[ 3687.306397] nscd[3340]: segfault at 10 ip 7f6b22ce3685 sp
7fffc977bb60 error 6 in nscd[7f6b22cdd000+1c000]

This happens mostly between 3000 and 6000 seconds after starting. We
have 3003 users in our LDAP, so we increased the 'suggested-size' to a
high prime number 1, removed the dbs and restarted nscd. The crashes
happen nevertheless, rendering nscd completely unusable on our systems.
I'd like to provide more debugging information, but I don't really know
how at the moment ...

Thanks,
Lukas

Bug#558983: Bug#573403: FTBFS: waf spinning for flowcanvas/hppa

2010-03-22 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Marc Brockschmidt , 2010-03-11, 08:04:

waf now breaks building of packages we need for a transition
(flowcanvas/hppa). It would be nice if someone would care enough to
either fix this or write a patch moving flowcanvas to sane build
system. Otherwise, I will remove flowcanvas from testing in a few days
to allow the liblo transition to happen.

Let me take another sip of my coffee ... OK. Of course,
s/liblo/graphviz/.

To make some things straight:

1. This does not really look like a waf's fault:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-hppa/2010/01/msg00035.html

2. Nonetheless, waf sucks and its maintainer has shown some hostility
to Debian:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2010/02/msg00714.html
So indeed, switching to a saner build system might be a best solution.

3. I have some ideas how to work-around those bugs, but I need a few
more days.

Bug#574973: fglrx-glx uninstallable on i386: depends on amd64-only package fglrx-glx-ia32

2010-03-22 Thread Stuart Prescott
Package: fglrx-glx
Version: 1:10-3~prerelease-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The dependencies of fglrx-glx are currently use ${shlibs:Depends} in the
control file and the substvars after building in a clean i386 sid chroot have:

misc:Depends=
shlibs:Depends=fglrx-glx-ia32, libc6 (>= 2.1.3), libc6 (>= 2.3.6-6~), libgcc1
(>= 1:4.1.1), libxext6 (>= 0)

which results in the i386 package having a dependency on an amd64-only package.
This is, of course, unsatisfiable and the package is then uninstallable.

The packages recently uploaded to sid show this problem too.

have fun!
Stuart

The package had hardcoded callto various tex-related scripts. Indeed,
correct ways to call them are actually implemented by code snippets
added by "dh_installtex" (which is already used in debian/rules.

So, actually, fixing this bug was just a matter of dropping the
postinst and posrm files..:-)

Version: 3.12~pre2-1
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
User: initscripts-ng-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: incorrect-dependencies

The latest upload of module-init-tools introduced a dependency loop in
the init.d scripts when installed together with with
multipath-tools-boot. I discovered this with my archive wide
consistency check. The results from this check is available from
http://lintian.debian.org/~pere/ >.

Please undo the change, or at least coordinate it with the maintainer
of multipath-tools-boot if module-init-tools should run after mountall
and mountoverflowtmp during boot or before umountfs during shutdown
(the packages defined as $local_fs).

I realise that this change was done to get rid of a lintian warning,
but in this case the lintian warning is not relevant (it is relevant
for most packages, but not those starting in rcS.d/ before
mountall. :)

This patch would solve the issue, making sure module-init-tools can
start before multipath-tools-boot which is a dependency of $local_fs.

Bug#574852: sofa-framework: FTBFS: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ltinyxml

2010-03-22 Thread Felix Geyer
Starting from 2.5.3-2 the TinyXML package contains both variants of TinyXML:
with and without support for the C++ STL (2.5.3-1 only contained the
former).

I decided to rename the STL variant from tinyxml to tinyxml-stl so no
one links
to it without thinking about it as applications might segfault when they
are linked
to the wrong library.

Please link sofa-framework to tinyxml-nostl or
to tinyxml-stl and define TIXML_USE_STL.

Bug#574516: ltspfs: USB stick did not mount on server

2010-03-22 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Vagrant Cascadian]
> some things to check:
>
> * fuse module is loaded
> * /dev/fuse is writeable by group fuse

Both ok.

> * user is in fuse group

This is not OK. The user is not in the fuse group. I investigated,
and the reason is that the pam_group module is not enabled.
pam-auth-update do not have support for pam_group yet. This is bug
report in #370346. Can ltspfs be configured to use
consolekit/policykit instead? It would be better to get this working
out of the box without pam_group.

Aftet activating pam_group using the patch in #370346, the user was in
the fuse group after login, and the mounting happened on the server.
No KDE popup showed up, thought. :(

>> but would prefer a popup in KDE as well.

A popup really should be the default in KDE. The user experience suck
without it.

Happy hacking,

Bug#574815: illegal version number in package dependencies

depends in sid currently, and this totally breaks piuparts.d.o, thus I have
disabled sid testing in piuparts for several weeks now.

cheers,
Holger
