severity 579297 important thanks Package: wpasupplicant Version: 0.6.10-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable For your porticular use case maybe, but that does not make a grave severity rating for the package. I have a strange problem for about half a year now, which is when I connect to a WPA-Enterprise WiFi network (eduroam in this case) I loose my connection after a certain amount of time, and wpa_supplicant fails to establish a stable connection again after that. So when I loose the connection that is actually the time when the AP requests a re-authentication (AFAICT) and wpa_supplicant fails to do this correctly. Bug#577661: dspam: should this package be removed?
Hi Kurt, On Mon, Apr 26, 2010 at 06:33:31PM -0400, Kurt B. Kaiser wrote: While the packages do not appear to have received adequate attention in the last year and a half, Julien Valroff has in fact been working diligently to prepare the new upstream release (from January) for upload into experimental. This is the first solid release upstream release in several years. Interesting. My bug filing was bad timing then... :) I would like to request a stay of execution, and suggest the following plan: First, determine which of the uploaders still have an interest in dspam. I think there are currently at least three people who would like to contribute to maintaining official Debian dspam packages. Are you going to pursue this, i.e. check on the other maintainers? Second, continue with the development of the experimental upload. I think Julien is pretty close. Since his work differs considerably from the current package, I think experimental is still warranted. Third, prepare an upload to unstable which takes the current package to 3.6.8-10, fixing the RC issues and bringing it back into policy compliance. I will work on that, if Julien has no objection. Sounds good. Any chance of a time line? Do you think this is something to be done within the next four weeks (and thus to be considered for squeeze)? DSPAM has been a Debian package for many years, and IMO it would be unfortunate to remove it just when upstream finally got straightened out and produced a new stable release. Well, I filed the bug because it seemed noone cared. If you do, all the better! Hauke -- .''`. Just as an example, running reportbug inside tmux (inside urxvt) leads to: gpi...@caimano:~$ reportbug tmux Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/bin/reportbug, line 40, in module from reportbug import utils File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/utils.py, line 46, in module import debianbts File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/debianbts.py, line 43, in module import checkversions File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/checkversions.py, line 37, in module from urlutils import open_url File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/urlutils.py, line 35, in module import webbrowser File /usr/lib/python2.5/webbrowser.py, line 498, in module register_X_browsers() File /usr/lib/python2.5/webbrowser.py, line 453, in register_X_browsers retncode = out.close() IOError: [Errno 10] No child processes The same command works outside tmux (I'm running it to write this bug report inside urxvt). Reverting back to version 1.2-1 makes this bug disappear. This bug affect a lot of unrelated software, but obviously only if run inside tmux. Gian Piero Carrubba gpi...@rm-rf.it writes: Strange as it appears, it seems that version 1.2-2 interfers with software calling waitpid(). Ugh, sorry about that. It's caused by a patch I picked from CVS, and it doesn't happen for me because my shell is zsh. I guess you're using bash and it doesn't reset the signal handler for SIGCHLD it gets from tmux when it's started... I'll amend the patch tonight. Bug#577661: dspam: should this package be removed?
Hi Kurt, Jan, Le lundi 26 avril 2010 à 18:33 -0400, Kurt B. Kaiser a écrit : On Tue, 13 Apr 2010 15:09:04 +0200, Jan Hauke Rahm j...@debian.org said: [...] while reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible candidate for removal from Debian, because: * last maintainer upload 09/2008 * RC buggy * outdated * uploaders not interested or MIA (?) * not part of squeeze anyways and no solution in sight If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so. If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please just close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues. Thank you for taking the time to review the dspam package status. I apologize for causing this extra work. While the packages do not appear to have received adequate attention in the last year and a half, Julien Valroff has in fact been working diligently to prepare the new upstream release (from January) for upload into experimental. This is the first solid release upstream release in several years. I also must add that development has been very active since the project was taken over by the community. The core development team is still very motivated, as are the users. I would like to request a stay of execution, and suggest the following plan: First, determine which of the uploaders still have an interest in dspam. I think there are currently at least three people who would like to contribute to maintaining official Debian dspam packages. You can rely on me. Stevan Bajić (whom I add to the CC list) also shows a lot of interest in keeping DSPAM in Debian, as the lead upstream developer. He supports and helps me a lot in my work. It is also a chance for us to get this support from upstream, ensuring quality packages for Debian. Second, continue with the development of the experimental upload. I think Julien is pretty close. Since his work differs considerably from the current package, I think experimental is still warranted. I agree. There is still a lot of work to be achieved (essentially testing and ... testing) but I think the current packages are in quite good state. I would like to wait until 3.9.1 is released to plan the upload to experimental, as most of my work is now made on the development branch which adds a lot of interesting features and fixes quite a bunch of bugs. Some of them would however be easy to backport, but this would add extra work. Third, prepare an upload to unstable which takes the current package to 3.6.8-10, fixing the RC issues and bringing it back into policy compliance. I will work on that, if Julien has no objection. No objection at all ;) I think we just have to keep in mind that updated packages should be uploaded to unstable as soon as they prove to be reliable, as having this old 3.6.8 release still in Debian is a problem for both users and upstream developers. Bug#547699: gmameui: read_pixbuf_from_zip_file implicitly converted to pointer
Hi, I'm really sorry - I didn't get email notifications for this bug, and thus ignored you guys. Thanks to Paul Wise for sending me an email. The bug is reportedly fixed upstream, see http://gmameui.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gmameui/gmameui/src/gmameui-zip-utils.h?r1=1.1r2=1.2view=patch It's in 0.2.12, but since I've got issues with 0.2.12, I'll try to release a patched 0.2.11-3 with upstream's patch. Thanks a lot Dann Frazier and Martijn van Brummelen. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Actually, I discovered the problem the day after. So the first question is: is it normal that after a failure detected on /dev/sdf1 it becomes a spare (again if I understand the syslog message correctly)? It seems like the drive goes offline and comes back, and then I think it would be normal. Are there no kernel messages about this? Bug#566251: korganizer: korganizer doesn't start
Hi Marcus wrote: The problem was the config file korganizerrc. I deleted it and korganizer starts again. I tried to find out which was the offending configuration but it must have been a combination. I was hit by the same issue and found this discussion in an Ubuntu forum: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1366119 Following NicoDietrich's advice in the discussion, I deleted just one line Holidays=us from ~/.kde/share/config/korganizerrc , and the problem was gone. Bug#579494: socat is GPLv2-only, links against GPLv3 libreadline6
Package: socat Version: 1.7.1.2-1 Severity: serious Socat is licensed under the GPLv2, according to the README file, not GPLv2 or later. The debian package is built against libreadline6, which is under GPLv3 or later. Since GPLv2 and GPLv3 are incompatible, this is a license violation. I'd suggest making socat Build-Depend on libreadline5-dev again to solve this problem. (Which thus unfixes bug 553853; that should be marked wontfix, since fixing it necessarily involves a license violation.)
