Bug#579297: wpasupplicant: wpa_supplicant disconnects and fails to reconnect (wpa-enterprise)

2010-04-27 Thread kel
severity 579297 important
thanks

 Package: wpasupplicant
 Version: 0.6.10-2
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable

For your porticular use case maybe, but that does not make a
grave severity rating for the package.

 I have a strange problem for about half a year now, which is when I
 connect to
 a WPA-Enterprise WiFi network (eduroam in this case) I loose my connection
 after a certain amount of time, and wpa_supplicant fails to establish a
 stable
 connection again after that.

 So when I loose the connection that is actually the time when the AP
 requests
 a re-authentication (AFAICT) and wpa_supplicant fails to do this
 correctly.

 Here some details:
 AP:
 IE: IEEE 802.11i/WPA2 Version 1
 Group Cipher : TKIP
 Pairwise Ciphers (2) : TKIP CCMP
 Authentication Suites (1) : 802.1x
 IE: WPA Version 1
 Group Cipher : TKIP
 Pairwise Ciphers (2) : TKIP CCMP
 Authentication Suites (1) : 802.1x

 Wifi card is an Intel Ultimate N 5300

 wpa_supplicant config:
 ctrl_interface_group=103
 update_config=1

 network={
 ssid=eduroam
 key_mgmt=WPA-EAP
 eap=PEAP
 identity=u...@domain.tld
 password=password
  }

 I collected some debug output (using -dd) which contains logs from when
 I first connected to this network, after loosing the connection the first
 time
 and several re-connection attempts thereafter.

The best place to seek support about this is the hostap mailing
list:

http://lists.shmoo.com/mailman/listinfo/hostap

Thanks, Kel.

Bug#577661: dspam: should this package be removed?

2010-04-27 Thread Jan Hauke Rahm
Hi Kurt,

On Mon, Apr 26, 2010 at 06:33:31PM -0400, Kurt B. Kaiser wrote:
 While the packages do not appear to have received adequate attention in
 the last year and a half, Julien Valroff has in fact been working
 diligently to prepare the new upstream release (from January) for upload
 into experimental. This is the first solid release upstream release
 in several years.

Interesting. My bug filing was bad timing then... :)

 I would like to request a stay of execution, and suggest the
 following plan:

 First, determine which of the uploaders still have an interest in dspam.
 I think there are currently at least three people who would like to
 contribute to maintaining official Debian dspam packages.

Are you going to pursue this, i.e. check on the other maintainers?

 Second, continue with the development of the experimental upload. I
 think Julien is pretty close. Since his work differs considerably from
 the current package, I think experimental is still warranted.

 Third, prepare an upload to unstable which takes the current package to
 3.6.8-10, fixing the RC issues and bringing it back into policy
 compliance. I will work on that, if Julien has no objection.

Sounds good. Any chance of a time line? Do you think this is something
to be done within the next four weeks (and thus to be considered for
squeeze)?

 DSPAM has been a Debian package for many years, and IMO it would be
 unfortunate to remove it just when upstream finally got straightened
 out and produced a new stable release.

Well, I filed the bug because it seemed noone cared. If you do, all the
better!

Hauke

 those are same version, three successed but recent one failed.
 I tried it with cowbuilder in amd64 today (2010-04-27) and built it fine.
 So, it seems not a problem xdotools package itself.

 Now closing this, thanks

Bug#579353: tmux: version 1.2-2 breaks software using waitpid()

2010-04-27 Thread Gian Piero Carrubba
Package: tmux
Version: 1.2-2
Severity: critical
Tags: sid
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Strange as it appears, it seems that version 1.2-2 interfers with
software calling waitpid().

Just as an example, running reportbug inside tmux (inside urxvt) leads
to:

gpi...@caimano:~$ reportbug tmux

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File /usr/bin/reportbug, line 40, in module
from reportbug import utils
  File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/utils.py, line 46, in module

register_X_browsers()
  File /usr/lib/python2.5/webbrowser.py, line 453, in register_X_browsers
retncode = out.close()
IOError: [Errno 10] No child processes

The same command works outside tmux (I'm running it to write this bug
report inside urxvt). Reverting back to version 1.2-1 makes this bug
disappear.

This bug affect a lot of unrelated software, but obviously only if run
inside tmux.

Thanks,
Gian Piero.

Ugh, sorry about that. It's caused by a patch I picked from CVS, and
it doesn't happen for me because my shell is zsh. I guess you're
using bash and it doesn't reset the signal handler for SIGCHLD it
gets from tmux when it's started...

I'll amend the patch tonight. Thanks for the report!

will happen about that - but is now marked as not a concern for the *next*

Package: pwlib-titan
Version: 1.11.2-2
Severity: Serious

Hi,

While trying to see if pwlib-titan would build with libdc1394-22-dev, I
get an FTBFS. Looks like it is from the newer libraw1394:

vidinput_avc.cxx: In member function 'virtual BOOL
PVideoInputDevice_1394AVC::Start()':
vidinput_avc.cxx:170: error: 'raw1394_set_iso_handler' was not declared
in this scope
vidinput_avc.cxx: In member function 'virtual BOOL
PVideoInputDevice_1394AVC::GetFrameDataNoDelay(BYTE*, PINDEX*)':
vidinput_avc.cxx:376: error: 'raw1394_start_iso_rcv' was not declared in
this scope
vidinput_avc.cxx:420: error: 'raw1394_stop_iso_rcv' was not declared in
this scope
make[4]: *** [../pwlib/device/videoinput/avc_pwplugin.so] Error 1

I was concerned that it might be related to using libdc1394-22-dev so I
built the original and get the following problem with build-dependencies:

The following packages are BROKEN:
 libdc1394-13

We want to get rid of libdc1394-13 so while fixing this, please also
update the libdc1394-13-dev build-dep to libdc1394-22-dev.

Thanks,

Barry deFreese

Hi,

I haven't investigated it further, but according to
https://buildd.debian.org/pkg.cgi?pkg=sash sash still FTBFS on
kfreebsd even though it compiled fine with that patch in January on my
kfreebsd box. (I still have the patched 3.7-9 version installed there.
:-)

I raised the severity to serious as this is definitely RC as kfreebsd
is now a release arch. (And it worked before so it's some kind of
regression.)

I'll have a look at it and possibly come up with a patch later.

Regards, Axel

Anyway, is there a reason that #560238 isn't blocked by #560044 given it
breaks that package or are you not bothered about breaking non-free

Hi mentors,

The dsc's there:

There is also a built version there:

It'd be great if someone could upload this.

Chris I'm still interested in co-maintaining this package with you.

Bug#578935: [buildd-tools-devel] Bug#578935: schroot: both the git and the latest version in unstable do not build

Thanks for reporting this. This is due to an incompatible change
in Boost, and schroot will need updating to cope with both old
and new Boost versions. There's a patch for it in the BTS, but
it breaks older Boost versions, so needs some extra configure/
preprocessor check to work properly.

Bug#577661: dspam: should this package be removed?

2010-04-27 Thread Julien Valroff

  while reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible
  candidate for removal from Debian, because:

  * last maintainer upload 09/2008
  * RC buggy
  * outdated
  * uploaders not interested or MIA (?)
  * not part of squeeze anyways and no solution in sight

  If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from
  Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so.

  If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
  just close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues.

 Thank you for taking the time to review the dspam package status. I
 apologize for causing this extra work.

 While the packages do not appear to have received adequate attention in
 the last year and a half, Julien Valroff has in fact been working
 diligently to prepare the new upstream release (from January) for upload
 into experimental. This is the first solid release upstream release
 in several years.

I also must add that development has been very active since the project
was taken over by the community. The core development team is still very
motivated, as are the users.

 I would like to request a stay of execution, and suggest the
 following plan:

 First, determine which of the uploaders still have an interest in dspam.
 I think there are currently at least three people who would like to
 contribute to maintaining official Debian dspam packages.

You can rely on me.

Stevan Bajić (whom I add to the CC list) also shows a lot of interest in
keeping DSPAM in Debian, as the lead upstream developer. He supports and
helps me a lot in my work.

It is also a chance for us to get this support from upstream, ensuring
quality packages for Debian.

 Second, continue with the development of the experimental upload. I
 think Julien is pretty close. Since his work differs considerably from
 the current package, I think experimental is still warranted.

I agree. There is still a lot of work to be achieved (essentially
testing and ... testing) but I think the current packages are in quite
good state.

I would like to wait until 3.9.1 is released to plan the upload to
experimental, as most of my work is now made on the development branch
which adds a lot of interesting features and fixes quite a bunch of
bugs.
Some of them would however be easy to backport, but this would add extra
work.

 Third, prepare an upload to unstable which takes the current package to
 3.6.8-10, fixing the RC issues and bringing it back into policy
 compliance. I will work on that, if Julien has no objection.

No objection at all ;)

I think we just have to keep in mind that updated packages should be
uploaded to unstable as soon as they prove to be reliable, as having
this old 3.6.8 release still in Debian is a problem for both users and
upstream developers.

Cheers,
Julien

Package: tmux
Version: 1.2-2
Severity: critical
Tags: sid
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Strange as it appears, it seems that version 1.2-2 interfers with
software calling waitpid().

Just as an example, running reportbug inside tmux (inside urxvt) leads
to:

gpi...@caimano:~$ reportbug tmux

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File /usr/bin/reportbug, line 40, in module
from reportbug import utils
  File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/utils.py, line 46, in module
import debianbts
  File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/debianbts.py, line 43, in
module
import checkversions
  File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/checkversions.py, line 37, in
module
from urlutils import open_url
  File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/reportbug/urlutils.py, line 35, in
module
import webbrowser
  File /usr/lib/python2.5/webbrowser.py, line 498, in module
register_X_browsers()
  File /usr/lib/python2.5/webbrowser.py, line 453, in register_X_browsers
retncode = out.close()
IOError: [Errno 10] No child processes

The same command works outside tmux (I'm running it to write this bug
report inside urxvt). Reverting back to version 1.2-1 makes this bug
disappear.

This bug affect a lot of unrelated software, but obviously only if run
inside tmux.

Thanks,
Gian Piero.

Bug#579426: wims-modules: installation fails because of /var/lib/wims/public_html/modules/adm/class/classes.de

2010-04-27 Thread Laurent Bonnaud
Package: wims-modules

Hi,

here is the problem:

Preparing to replace wims-modules 3.65+svn20090927-1 (using
.../wims-modules_3.65+svn20090927-2_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement wims-modules ...

On my system, /var/lib/wims/public_html/modules/adm/class/classes.de is
a symlink:

$ ls -al /var/lib/wims/public_html/modules/adm/class/classes.de
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Sep 22  2007
/var/lib/wims/public_html/modules/adm/class/classes.de - classes.en

Removing the symlink manually allows the package to be installed.

Bug#547699: gmameui: read_pixbuf_from_zip_file implicitly converted to pointer

2010-04-27 Thread Loïc Martin
Hi,
I'm really sorry - I didn't get email notifications for this bug, and
thus ignored you guys. Thanks to Paul Wise for sending me an email.

The bug is reportedly fixed upstream, see
http://gmameui.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gmameui/gmameui/src/gmameui-zip-utils.h?r1=1.1r2=1.2view=patch

It's in 0.2.12, but since I've got issues with 0.2.12, I'll try to
release a patched 0.2.11-3 with upstream's patch.

Thanks a lot Dann Frazier and Martijn van Brummelen.

This was fixed in 3.2.4-4, which is currently not transitioning to
testing, due to a missing lapack. lapack failed to build on mipsel due to
using a too old blas packages.

I already asked for give-back of lapack on mipsel:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-wb-team/2010/04/msg00055.html

So, sorry, nothing I can do here. Although you could try the version
from unstable.

Bug#566251: korganizer: korganizer doesn't start

Hi

Marcus wrote:
 The problem was the config file korganizerrc. I deleted it and
 korganizer starts again. I tried to find out which was the offending
 configuration but it must have been a combination.

I was hit by the same issue and found this discussion in an Ubuntu forum:

  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1366119

Following NicoDietrich's advice in the discussion, I deleted just
one line Holidays=us from ~/.kde/share/config/korganizerrc ,
and the problem was gone.

Oh, and I'm using the testing distribution of Debian. I upgrade
it daily.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

3.2.1-7 FTBFS on mipsel due to blas 1.2-4 beind used during the build. I
guess a (=1.2.-7) is needed in the build dependencies.

I tried to get the wanna-build team to give the build back (thereby not
forcing a rebuild on every other architecture), but they didn't want to
do that.

I thought about that; but really, the resulting error message is

It'd probably be sane to indeed pass an extra “--alsa” when
DEB_HOST_ARCH_OS matches linux.

Yeah, I seem to recall wondering about exactly this a little while back.

Whatever, I'll adjust the flag.

Applied now to git.

BTW, we currently set other arch-specific flags based on DEB_BUILD_ARCH
- I wonder if that should instead be DEB_HOST_ARCH?

We need the following patch (find attached). I've implemented this patch

culprit. ;)

The attached patch needs to be applied upstream. It's filed upstream.

Justification: FTBFS on mipsel

Hi,

3.2.1-7 FTBFS on mipsel due to blas 1.2-4 beind used during the build. I
guess a (=1.2.-7) is needed in the build dependencies.

I tried to get the wanna-build team to give the build back (thereby not
forcing a rebuild on every other architecture), but they didn't want to
do that.

Bug#579494: socat is GPLv2-only, links against GPLv3 libreadline6

2010-04-27 Thread James Y Knight

Package: socat
Version: 1.7.1.2-1
Severity: serious

Socat is licensed under the GPLv2, according to the README file, not
GPLv2 or later. The debian package is built against libreadline6,
which is under GPLv3 or later. Since GPLv2 and GPLv3 are incompatible,
this is a license violation.

I'd suggest making socat Build-Depend on libreadline5-dev again to
solve this problem. (Which thus unfixes bug 553853; that should be
marked wontfix, since fixing it necessarily involves a license
violation.)
