Bug#580475: lxpanel: data/ui/*.glade files missing in the package so it can't be (re)built
Hi, I cannot reproduce this FTBFS as the package builds fine event run 'fakeroot debian/rules clean' first. However, the .glade files is not available in upstream release tarball, but .ui files are there. Would you mind to explain how to reproduce this step by step? Bug#580824: jack-audio-connection-kit: FTBFS on hppa (multiple issues)
On Sun, May 9, 2010 01:05, Dmitrijs Ledkovs wrote: On 9 May 2010 00:44, Adam D. It will break if anything causes the .waf.-* directory to be renamed, but that seems like another reason not to use waf ;-) Running waf with -j1 flag should stop all paralelism. e.g. ./waf configure build -j1 Is this not enough to make waf behave on hppa? From what I could see from reading the code, the number of jobs should automatically default to the number of available CPUs in any case, so should automatically be 1 at least on the porter box. However, assuming that adding the following to debian/rules would implement your suggestion, then sadly no it does not appear to be enough: waf-configure-options += $(if $(filter hppa,$(DEB_HOST_ARCH)),-j1) Even with this change, the ./waf configure call hangs after outputting Checking for dbus-1 = 1.0.0 : ok Checking for dbus-1 flags: ok Checking for header expat.h : ok I killed it after 15 minutes of inactivity; the build output shows that -j1 was passed to the configure call. If I add the Runner.py patch instead, it gets past that point with ease (and later fails with the second error I mentioned, which is trivially fixable by adding !defined(__hppa__) to an existing patch). While some of the issues may be buildd related, some of them aren't; the good news is that I believe I've fixed them. :-) (at least, I've successfully built j-a-c-k on the hppa porter box) There are two issues: - waf's parallel building and hppa don't mix; I've stolen a patch which Jakub Wilk provided for xmms2 and applied it to j-a-c-k. It will break if anything causes the .waf.-* directory to be renamed, but that seems like another reason not to use waf ;-) - the alpha/ia64 segv fix patch also needs to include hppa in its growing list of architectures on which not to execute the relevant code; the patch probably also wants renaming :-) I've attached a new patch to fix the first; I assume the second is trivial enough not to need a patch. Bug#580824: jack-audio-connection-kit: FTBFS on hppa (multiple issues)

However, assuming that adding the following to debian/rules would implement your suggestion, then sadly no it does not appear to be enough: waf-configure-options += $(if $(filter hppa,$(DEB_HOST_ARCH)),-j1) Even with this change, the ./waf configure call hangs after outputting Checking for dbus-1 = 1.0.0 : ok Checking for dbus-1 flags : ok Checking for header expat.h : ok I killed it after 15 minutes of inactivity; the build output shows that -j1 was passed to the configure call. If I add the Runner.py patch instead, it gets past that point with ease (and later fails with the second error I mentioned, which is trivially fixable by adding !defined(__hppa__) to an existing patch). Regards, Adam Can you please run it as (without any patches) ./waf -vvv -j1 And send me buildlog please? This is quite disturbing. I'm a waf lover =) and have submitted a few patches upstream. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#573538: sagemath: moving to team maintainance?
Hello Rogério, You are right that I don't have the time to maintain sagemath -- I'd be very happy to move to a team maintenance structure. I've copied several folks who have expressed interest in updating the Sage packaging over the last few weeks, who may help provide the initial team. There's a mailing list debian-s...@googlegroups.com that originally gathered to discuss packaging Sage in Debian, and probably is reasonable to use for this purpose for now. Given the time I have available at this stage, I imagine that my role will primarily be explaining extensive documentation of how the current packaging structure works (and publishing some of my current partial work somewhere), and the actual work of updating the software will need to be done by others. I'm also happy to help with making uploads happen to the packages I currently maintain as needed. Is anyone interested in organizing the effort? -Tim Abbott p.s. when replying to this thread, please try to not drop all the other lists from the thread. On Sat, 8 May 2010, Rogério Brito wrote: Hi, Tim. I see that you don't seem to have the time to package sagemath and it could be in a better state. Bug#580095: libmpg123-0: *** glibc detected *** /usr/bin: free(): invalid pointer: 0xb7c29098 ***
I just added this to the mpg123 tracker item: I managed to reproduce a crash (no report of double free(), but a segfault during free()) on a VM install of debian testing, with mpg123 from unstable. The funny thing is that I observe the debian mpg123 binary crashing with the debian libmpg123 and a self-built one from vanilla upstream sources, but vice versa the self-built mpg123 binary is _not_ crashing with either lib. The offending free() call does happen in libmpg123, it's the cleanup during mpg123_delete(). I have no idea so far what shold be wrong here... everything looks right. Mpg123 allocates rawdecwin = 0xb930ee30 ... and at the end wants to free rawdecwin = 0xb930ee30. What special trick is there going on with the packaged binary that it triggers a segfault at the free()? Valgrind also has nothing to complain. The essence of the two log files I attached there is that the crash occurs on a regular and for all I can tell valid call to free() with a pointer that was returned from malloc() before. There must be some other mess up with glibc's internals. Can you repeat what I did: 1. Download the vanilla sources: http://mpg123.org/current 2. Build that (no need for devel packages, libc is enough) cd mpg123-1.12.1 ./configure --prefix=some_place make make install 3. Download test file from mpg123 repo: http://mpg123.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/test/regression/drum.mp3 4. run some_place/mpg123 --cpu generic -o dummy drum.mp3 5. run mpg123 --cpu generic -o dummy drum.mp3 6. Use LD_LIBRARY_PATH run each binary with each library, LD_LIBRARY_PATH=some_place/lib mpg123 ... For me, every call with the packaged /usr/bin/mpg123 crashes after decoding the file, every call with the self-built one succeeds. Explanations welcome. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#574863: bumping this issue up a notch or two
here's an updated, but still incomplete patch. the main problem with the previous patch was that the extent_count variable was being overwritten when fetching the type option value. simply removing that fixed that problem. there were further problems with the lv's though, as it seems (i'm not an lvm guru by any means) that a snapshot consists of two entries, one named snapshot0 (this was the one the previous patch would skip), and another one with the snapshot name, which is notably different from the others in that the status field does not contain VISIBLE like the others. i updated the patch to also skip such lv entries, which cleared further problems. after these two steps, running update-grub/grub-install/grub-probe all work without reporting errors. *HOWEVER*, the system still doesn't boot. after reinstalling grub and regenerating /boot/grub/grub.cfg, the user is greeted with the error: error: no such disk error: physical volume pv0 not found Entering rescue mode... grub rescue so it looks like there is yet another failure in grub_lvm_read causing this. honestly the code is so full of spaghetti i'm having trouble making it much further. i have a test setup running under kvm so if anyone has something they want me to try please let me know. otherwise i'll continue to hack at it but i'm not too optomistic. sean -- --- a/disk/lvm.c +++ b/disk/lvm.c @@ -413,9 +413,11 @@ grub_lvm_scan_device (const char *name) /* And add all the lvs to the volume group. */ while (1) { - int s; + int s, skip_lv = 0, status_visible = 0; struct grub_lvm_lv *lv; struct grub_lvm_segment *seg; + char *status = NULL, *status_end = NULL; + grub_size_t status_len = 0; while (grub_isspace (*p)) p++; @@ -424,6 +426,8 @@ grub_lvm_scan_device (const char *name) break; lv = grub_malloc (sizeof (*lv)); + skip_lv = 0; /*Flag to skip snapshots */ + status_visible = 0; /*Flag to skip snapshots */ q = p; while (*q != ' ') @@ -438,6 +442,24 @@ grub_lvm_scan_device (const char *name) lv-size = 0; + /* read lv status and ignore ones not listed as visible */ + grub_lvm_getvalue (p, status = ); + if (p == NULL) + goto lvs_fail; + status_end = grub_strchr(p, ']'); + if (status_end == NULL) + goto lvs_fail; + status_len = (status_end - p) + 1; + status = grub_malloc(status_len + 1); + if (status == NULL) + goto lvs_fail; + grub_memcpy(status, p, status_len); + status[status_len] = '\0'; + if (grub_strstr(status, VISIBLE) != NULL) { + status_visible = 1; + } + grub_free(status); + lv-segment_count = grub_lvm_getvalue (p, segment_count = ); if (p == NULL) goto lvs_fail; @@ -458,6 +480,13 @@ grub_lvm_scan_device (const char *name) seg-extent_count = grub_lvm_getvalue (p, extent_count = ); if (p == NULL) goto lvs_segment_fail; + grub_lvm_getvalue (p, type = ); + if (p == NULL) + goto lvs_segment_fail; + if (!grub_strncmp(p, \snapshot\, 10)) { + skip_lv=1; /* Found a snapshot LV */ + break; + } seg-stripe_count = grub_lvm_getvalue (p, stripe_count = ); if (p == NULL) goto lvs_segment_fail; @@ -530,6 +559,12 @@ grub_lvm_scan_device (const char *name) goto lvs_fail; p += 3; + if (skip_lv || ! status_visible) { + grub_free (lv-name); + grub_free (lv); + continue; + } + lv-number = lv_count++; lv-vg = vg; lv-next = vg-lvs; signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Web search indicated that this is because event_sigcb (which is not a publicly exported symbol) is being used by dnsproxy 1.15 and current libevent versions do not use/supply (I don't know the technicalities of it, not a C programmer) this anymore. See also: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=2909223group_id=50884atid=461322 Compiling the latest dnsproxy source version (1.16) with libevent-dev installed works and solves this. Bug#580949: libnetgraph4: netgraph completely broken
Package: libnetgraph4 Version: 8.0-4 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I can't get netgraph to work under Debian/kFreeBSD. I was able to get ngctl to compile using a simple hack to work around #522773 and #522774 (#define __unused) but it's completely refusing to start: loony:/home/anarcat/src/ngctl-7.3# ./ngctl -d ngctl: bind(ngctl3745): Invalid argument ngctl: can't create node: Invalid argument The kernel then spawns the following: WARNING: attempt to net_add_domain(netgraph) after domainfinalize() ... regardless of whether I'm using the 7.2, 7.3 or 8.0 kernels. This error happens only once, when the netgraph modules get autoloaded. I'm also having problems making the PPPoE support of the ppp userland program work, a related problem described here: http://lists.debian.org/debian-bsd/2010/05/msg00017.html (Note that I have also tried the ppp binary provided by the freebsd-hackedutils package, which leads to a similar problem: http://lists.debian.org/debian-bsd/2010/05/msg00019.html ) So my current guess the problem lies within the netgraph library (as opposed to ngctl, ppp or the kernel), which would do some things in the wrong order for the kernel. I'm really just guessing here but that's what the error message error above says. :) (Then again, the above error message signals an error *within* the kernel's internal API, so the problem may also lie within the kernel.) This blocks kfreebsd users from doing anything significant with the library, so I'm marking this bug as grave. Furthermore, it's affecting the ppp functionality (keeps PPPoE from working) so it could even be upgraded to critical (if we want PPPoE in kfreebsd!!), but I'll let the package maintainer decide this. I hope this is clear enough and that my tests were complete enough. :) Let me know if you can reproduce. A. (More debugging/tracing guesswork below, skip if you already know how to fix this. :P) (net_add_domain() is how new protocols register hooks (like protocol families and hooks for connect() and bind() syscalls) within the kernel. This is defined in sys/domain.h and kern/uipc_domain.c which make me suspect the problem may also lie within...) (I have also traced the problem within ngctl, libgraph and the netgraph kernel module source code. The problem starts on the NgMkSockNode(3) call in ngctl's main.c:174. That function, part of libnetgraph, goes around creating the netgraph socket(2) and bind(2) (in sock.c:76) The above debugging output shows that it's during the bind(2) (sock.c:104) that the failure happens. The function registered to handle bind(2) syscalls in netgraph is ngc_bind() (according to ng_socket.c:1049). From there on there are multiple places that throw the EINVAL error we can see in the following trace of ngctl: 6034 ngctlCALL socket(PF_NETGRAPH,SOCK_DGRAM,0x2) 6034 ngctlRET socket 3 6034 ngctlCALL bind(0x3,0xbfbfe2a0,0) 6034 ngctlRET bind -1 errno 22 Invalid argument That's about as far I can trace this at this point.) -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: kfreebsd-i386 (i686) Kernel: kFreeBSD 7.3-1-686 Locale: LANG=fr_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to fr_CA.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libnetgraph4 depends on: ii libbsd0 0.2.0-1utility functions from BSD systems ii libc0.1 2.10.2-7 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib libnetgraph4 recommends no packages. libnetgraph4 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
