Apparently yes:
http://www.pycrypto.org/files/
http://ftp.dlitz.net/pub/dlitz/crypto/pycrypto/
http://ftp.dlitz.net/pub/dlitz/crypto/pycrypto/pycrypto-2.1.0.tar.gz

It might not be on the site used by easy_install however.

I loaded and booted after the initramfs-tools 0.96.1. The problem persists; I
still have to use the backup image to boot the machine. It has something to
do with grub not being able to read the image; at least this is what a random
error message indicates before the kernel panic previously posted (under
Bug#582177) occurs.

this is up to the debian-mips maintainers to answer.

is there different behaviour when all objects involved in the link are
rebuilt with binutils from experimental?

hmm... Why are you talking about binutils ? From what I remember, the
patch fixing the issue is in gcc 4.5

reference?

and someone said it won't be easy to backport it.

so what do you propose?

 - drop mips as a release architecture?
 - do you volunteer to make gcc-4.5 ready for inclusion
in mips and fix any resulting RC-critical issue?

Bug#580015: fixed in ncpfs 2.2.6-8

2010-06-09 Thread Serafeim Zanikolas
Hi Anibal,

I see that the patch in the -8 release fixes the issue only for ia64 -- but
AFAICT special handling is also required for hppa (see refs in an earlier msg
of mine in this bug).

I've built the -8 release on hppa but I can't confirm that ncpumount fails
with a runtime error because it's meant to be run only as setuid (which I
obviously can't in any hppa buildd host).

Bug#585378: cryptsetup: segfaults on boot (on powerpc)

2010-06-09 Thread Mourad De Clerck
Package: cryptsetup
Version: 2:1.1.2-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

cryptsetup asks the password for the root (luks) partition and proceeds to
segfault. After which it asks the password again. Critical because it made
this laptop unbootable. I repaired it with another powerpc laptop, "target
mode" and chroot. It's a bit tricky to figure out what's going on this early
in the boot, and I'm a bit loath to upgrade to the current version of
cryptsetup again. However, if I can help in any way, let me know.

Kind regards,

Hi Sean,

Sorry, it is really hard to give access to someone just for a few test
builds. I could run a test build for you, though. Just point me to a

the code in question comes from shtool:

# make a temp file name in the destination directory
dsttmp=`echo $dst |\
sed -e 's;[^/]*$;;' -e 's;\(.\)/$;\1;' -e 's;^$;.;' \
-e "s;\$;/#i...@$$#;"`

i know shtool has a racy history (no pun intended... okay actually it was),
though i don't know in this case if it's shtool at fault, the php build
scripts/system. pretty sure it's not the packaging at least as nothing
seems out of the ordinary in the relevant section of debian/rules:

# install the apache modules' files
cd apache2-build && $(MAKE) install-headers install-build
install-modules install-programs
INSTALL_ROOT=$(CURDIR)/debian/libapache2-mod-php5

if there is no clear culprit is it possible to get access to a node in
this build cluster to try debugging the problem? unfortunately i don't
have any 8-way systems here at home and -j8 on my tri-core system does
not replicate the problem.

I tend to agree with the proposal to remove the package, but since I
don't really know it, I'd appreciate opinions from other group

Bug#585165: CVE-2010-1916: Security issue in Xinha

for Squeeze.

I agree that the documentation does not match the behaviour.

As far as I know, there never is a reason to remove the
world-readable permission, so I'm lowering the severity.

I should probably move that file to the libssl0.9.8 package.

Bug#550477: after update-from-grub-legacy the system stopped booting

2010-06-09 Thread Jordan Metzmeier
Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.98+20100602-2
Severity: normal

I wasn't sure whether or not I should file a new bug for this issue. The
descrition of the orginal bug matches my behavior exactly but the issue is not
the same as orginal report.

I created this sid VM to test packages that I plan to build. I started with
Lenny and went through the upgrades. Currently, the machine is working fine
with chainloading grub-pc from grub-legacy.

After the failed upgrade-from-grub-legacy, I restored a snapshot of the VM.
The configuration you see below is actually prior the upgrade-from-grub-legacy.
If you request it, I can push the failed upgrade and generate a new report from
a
chroot.

The exact issue is an "error 15: file not found" upon a reboot. This is prior
to grub menu appearing, which is an indication to me that grub2 was not properly
written to the MBR.

Unless virtualbox is a factor, it seems this setup would be very common.

Let me know if there is any more information you need. Also, sorry if the
formatting
of this email is bad, I hadn't changed my editor on this machine yet and had to
write
this in nano.

For that case, for reference, we had a discussion on IRC yesterday
about that:

Aha, so it's not the same bug as we see here.

So you have exactly the same error message as in the initial report with
it? Also with the "bad flagvector"?

Bug#584341: FTBFS: configure: error: Valgrind requires glibc version 2.2 - 2.10

2010-06-09 Thread Pierre Habouzit
Package: valgrind
Version: 1:3.5.0-3
Severity: normal

see http://lists.ibiblio.org/pipermail/sm-commit/2010-March/028429.html

I've tried the patch (crudely) on the debian package, and it lets
valgrind build.

Though, the .supp file for glibc2.11 should probably be updated as well,
as lots of errors for strcmp_sse3 and GI_strlen occur (those being false
positives due to the optimistic implementations of those functions but
correct memory-wise).

I'm not yet aware of an available glibc.supp file for 2.11, but it may
have been commited to valgrind upstream since last time I checekd.

hmm... Why are you talking about binutils ? From what I remember, the
patch fixing the issue is in gcc 4.5 and someone said it won't be easy
to backport it.

The version Axel is running has everything up to r2422:

* docs/grub.texi (Simple configuration): Fix copy-and-paste typo.
Thanks to Jordan Uggla for spotting this.

... and there are no changes from you in mainline since that commit.

Bug#584911: bind9: hard-coded dependency on "/usr/lib/ssl/openssl.cnf" might cause trouble

2010-06-09 Thread Gebauer, Mirko (FRA-MRM)
Thanks Florian, for your prompt responses. And please excuse the ugly e-mail
style without proper line wrappings that Outlook (company...) causes in
Debian's BTS.

I'm still curious why the bug we've stumbled upon in OpenSSL was no issue in
previous versions of bind9 in lenny?

Best regards,
Mirko Gebauer

Bug#519006: breaks dump builds, too

2010-06-09 Thread Matthias Klose

On 08.06.2010 20:02, Bdale Garbee wrote:

This prevents dump from building on mips/mipsel, which means the version
of dump in testing is now months out of date.

Is there an estimate for when this bug will be fixed?

this is up to the debian-mips maintainers to answer.

is there different behaviour when all objects involved in the link are rebuilt
with binutils from experimental?

Bleh. I looked at the wrong machine for reconfirmation.

The GDM daemon itself runs as root of course, but everything that is
unsafe (especially the graphical stuff) is run under user Debian-gdm.
All the information is communicated between the daemon and the slave
session through D-Bus.

Cheers,
