Bug#588861: python-openturns: uninstallable in testing: Depends: python (< 2.6) but 2.6.5-5 is to be installed
Jakub, I am the maintainer of this package. The log does not say much about the failure. Could it be that it's a memory problem ? not enough memory to compile and the porterbox has enough. However: if (-d $destdir) { if ($force_actions) { my $verbose = 1 if $config_vars{DEBSNAP_VERBOSE} eq 'yes'; remove_tree($destdir, { verbose => $verbose }); mkdir($destdir); } else { fatal "Destination dir $destdir already exists.\nPlease (re)move it first, or use --force to overwrite."; } } else { mkdir($destdir); } This deletes the destination directory and all its contents, even though nothing in there might have been "accidentally overwritten". This is utterly insane, and severely undocumented. Good thing all I've lost (AFAIK...) are git trees that are mirrored on git.d.o... Hence the severity. I've attached a proof of concept patch to fix this. Please could you give it a try? It's possible it needs a bit of tweaking; I'm afraid I'm pushed for time so it's untested tonight. Essentially, we add explicit support for Aptitude to Sbuild::Chroot so that there are pipe_aptitude_command etc. methods just like pipe_apt_command. These take care of setting up common aptitude options and work just as for apt-get. Note I'm not sure if it respects all of the apt-get options such as Dir::State, DPkg::Options and DPkg::Run-Directory which are essential for $chroot_mode="split". If you could verify that works too, I would appreciate it. Regards, Roger -- .''`. Package: python-openturns Version: 0.13.2-2 Severity: serious Tags: squeeze User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org Usertag: python2.6 Hello, python-openturns is currently uninstallable in testing: # apt-get install python-openturns Reading package lists... This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: python-openturns: Depends: python (< 2.6) but 2.6.5-5 is to be installed E: Broken packages We would normally fix this bug by simply binNMUing the package. However, openturns FTBFS in testing because of bug #586351: https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?&pkg=openturns&ver=0.13.2-2%2Bb1&arch=i386&stamp=1277880044 openturns 0.13.2-5 (which has #586351 fixed and binaries recompiled with Python 2.6) cannot migrate to testing because of dependencies on atlas, which cannot be satisfied on armel. We tried to get rid of these dependencies by binNMUing it against liblapack-dev >= 3.2.2-1, but openturns failed to build: https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?&pkg=openturns&ver=0.13.2-5%2Bb1&arch=armel&stamp=1278704225 We have no idea what's the reason of this FTBFS, as we were unable to reproduce it on the porterbox. -- Jakub Wilk signature.asc Description: Digital signature

severity 588821 important thank you How is that a grave bug? This bug hardly makes whole package unusable. Please use proper severities. Bug#588818: sbuild: DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive missing when using the aptitude resolver
Package: sbuild Version: 0.60.0-1 Severity: serious Justification: Breaks builds and/or chroots Hi, as mentioned earlier, DEBIAN_FRONTEND doesn't get set to noninteractive when using the aptitude resolver. The internal one uses run_apt, which takes care of setting a sane(r) environment, while the aptitude one calls aptitude directly, w/o setting DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive in the environment. That broke building a package pulling some debconf-using build-dependencies, and interrupting the build broke the chroots, meaning manual cleanup. Hence the severity. A remote attacker could trigger this flaw which would cause subsequent requests to fail and/or information to leak between requests. This flaw is mitigated if Tomcat is behind a reverse proxy (such as Apache httpd 2.2) as the proxy should reject the invalid transfer encoding header. This was fixed in revision 958977. Bug#568990: planetpenguin-racer-extras: Outdated; needs restructured and updated to be usefull
Hi, I tried to change the installation path to make these courses available in etracer and it works great, even with the old tcl format. I also noticed that a lot of courses are now included upstream : deadman mount herring mount_satan hamburger_hill hazzard_valley ice_labyrinth skull_mountain snow_valley the_narrow_way Candy_Lane Crazy_Path hey_tux hippo_run ice_pipeline in_search_of_vodka Chinese_Wall Explore_Mountains Frozen_Lakes Secret_Valleys Wild_Mountains They should be removed from the orig tarball, with the corresponding files in doc/. You seem to have some plan for the orig tarball, so I'll let this to you, but I already removed the corresponding patch in SVN. There are a couple of lintian warnings to take care of, but I think with a little work we can make it for Squeeze. I think I'll have a look, but I don't want to mess to much with your package. Ah, sorry, I thought the fix was clear from the bug report: Peter Palfrader has bisected it down to commit 1345126c "x86, paravirt: Add a global synchronization point for pvclock" which sounds very reasonable, IMHO. See http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1007.0/02385.html To be absolutely sure this is correct, I just built a kernel based on your 2.6.32-17 with commit 1345126c reverted, and that does indeed boot under KVM. The revert patch is attached. Please try it. I do hope this goes into next 2.6.32-stable as well, although the discussion following Peter Palfrader's bisect seems a bit discouraging. "that patch shouldn't affect anything outside..." Right. Well, it does. So please revert it in stable. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 583991: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=583991 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: isc-dhcp-client Version: 4.1.0-1 Severity: important Hi, I know that isc-dhcp-client is still in experimental. However, I think that concerns that I raise here must be handle before a package is uploaded in unstable. With this version, you change the location of configuration files. In particular, /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-{enter,exit}-hooks.d/ is changed into /etc/dhcp/dhclient-{enter,exit}-hooks.d/ The problem is that external packages are using the previous location. When installing the new isc-dhcp-client, some features (avahi, ...) are not here anymore and other are broken (DNS with resolvconf, see below from this particular problem) If you decide to maintain this new location, I think you should clone this bug report to each package shipping files in /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-{enter,exit}-hooks.d/ and asking them to copy/symlink/... their files into /etc/dhcp/dhclient-{enter,exit}-hooks.d/ Then, you should Breaks (or Conflicts) all packages that ship file in dhcp3 and not in dhcp (ie something like Breaks: avahi-autoipd (<= last_version_without_/etc/dhcp/_files) ) With resolvconf, the problem is even more serious. ie, installing the current isc-dhcp-client breaks the DNS but removing (and reinstalling dhcp3-client) does not solve the problem. Here is what happens: * isc-dhcp-client is installed, no /etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/resolvconf is present. => on lease acquisition, /etc/resolv.conf is rewriten with internal scripts breaking the symlink to /etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf * I added /etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/resolvconf (copied from /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/resolvconf) => /etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf is now correctly updated but /etc/resolv.conf has been changed and is a plain file now * So DNS servers are incorrect and never updated anymore is /etc/resolv.conf => users must manually recreate the /etc/resolv.conf symlink (not really a problem for an experimental package) This explain why it is important that there must never be a resolvconf package installed (or even unpacked ?) without /etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/resolvconf together with the isc-dhcp-client package. The dependency on your package must ensure this (and a new resolvconf package must provide a /etc/dhcp/dhclient-enter-hooks.d/resolvconf is you maintain this path change) Regards, Vincent (that will switch back to dhcp3-client for now) -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers oldstable APT policy: (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.31-rc6-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages isc-dhcp-client depends on: ii debianutils 3.2.1 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii ifupdown 0.6.9 high level tools to configure netw ii isc-dhcp-common 4.1.0-1common files used by all the isc-d ii libc6 2.9-26 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8k-5 SSL shared libraries isc-dhcp-client recommends no packages. The udev rules file installed in /lib/udev/rules.d/45-trousers.rules contains the following text: debian/local/45-trousers.rules This is obviously not a valid rules file. tcsd to fail to start, as /dev/tpm0 has incorrect permissions. The isdir() check happens before the open(), leading to unpleasant behavior if a file is replaced by a directory between them. Bug#588618: network-manager-gnome needs tighter dep on network-manager
> As said, the only possible explanation I have, is that you upgraded the > packages, suspended your laptop (then, NM is disabled by > /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/55NetworkManager), your resume failed and you had to > reboot. This is exactly what happened to me. As this is the first time that I've ever had a suspend failure on this laptop (suspend light was on, but CPU and LCD were still on, so the laptop was roasting when I got it out of my bag) I'm suspecting that NM was responsible for the suspend failure too. Anyway, that isn't the point. Please make the deps tighter so that the client and the daemon can always talk. This time it's "just" the global on/off, but in the future who knows what will change.
