Package: libgudev-1.0-0
Version: 164-1
Severity: serious
File: /lib/libgudev-1.0.so.0.0.1

Hi Marco,

in 164-1, libgudev was moved from /usr/lib to /lib, but it depends on
libraries from /usr/lib:

# ldd /lib/libgudev-1.0.so.0.0.1 | grep usr
libgobject-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0 (0xb7822000)
libgthread-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libgthread-2.0.so.0 (0xb781c000)

Unless there are packages which require libgudev in /lib, we should move them
back to
/usr/lib or coordinate with glib2.0 first, to move the affected libs to /lib
first.

Cheers,
Michael

Yes, we have another patch pending ... it would be good if these
two could be combined in a single update - I should be able to get
a chance to get that tested & reviewed to be uploaded tomorrow, so
if you could delay till after that, that'd be good, thanks!

Bug#602869: gadmin-openvpn-server: puts logfile in /etc instead of /var/log

2010-11-08 Thread Mike O'Connor
Package: gadmin-openvpn-server
Version: 0.1.5-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 9.1.1

The configuration created by gadmin-openvpn-server contains these two lines:

log/etc/gadmin-openvpn/server/openvpn-server.log
status /etc/gadmin-openvpn/server/openvpn-server-status.log

I don't see any way to change this from a client perspective. Logfiles should
be placed in /var/log by the FHS.

Package: vsftpd
Version: 2.3.0-1
Severity: important

vsftpd is compiled for s390, but broken on this architecture. The authors
apparently found it a good idea to call syscalls directly in sysdeputil.c.
Sadly this doesn't appear to work for clone() on s390, as eglibc provides
a wrapper for the syscall on this architecture. Instead the code should
call clone() in a sane way, i.e. reusing the function from eglibc instead
of wrangling the syscalls by itself.

The result of this is vsftpd opening the socket just fine, with the child
segfaulting in eglibc's syscall.S upon a new connection.

Hi,

the growisofs tools was moved from the dvd+rw-tools package into the
separate growisofs package, yet the growisofs package does not have the
necessary breaks/replaces [1], so an upgrade of dvd+rw-tools fails.

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#601979: Please allow migration of Cherokee 1.0.8-2 into testing

2010-11-08 Thread Gunnar Wolf
Hi,

I have uploaded Cherokee 1.0.8-2, which closes two bugs (one RC) and
fixes a minor policy violation - From the changelog:

  * Override dh_pysupport to byte-compile private Python modules -
Thanks to Jakub Wilk! (Closes: #592384)
  * Upgrading standards-version 3.8.4 → 3.9.1.0
  * Replaced libcherokeee-server0's 'Conflicts' relationship with
'Breaks', as now specifies policy 7.4
  * Fix "file conflict during upgrade from lenny": add
'libcherokee-server0 (<< 0.8.1-1)' to Replaces for
libcherokee-server0-dev (closes: #601979). Thanks to Gregor Herrmann
for the patch and the prodding!

Please allow its migration into Testing.

Thanks,

Hi!

Don't worry, I'll take the opportunity that you did a worthy change to
push a pending change I had on Git waiting for anything worth it.

Thanks a lot!

Bug#602860: mixxx: segfault on startup with QT network socket error

2010-11-08 Thread Jonathan E. Magen
Package: mixxx
Version: 1.7.2-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Upon starting mixxx the program segfaults almost immediately with the following
error:

Warning: [Main]: Qt: Session management error: Could not open network socket
Segmentation fault

I asked the devs about it in #mixxx on irc.freenode.net and they encouraged me
to request an upgrade to a more recent version of mixxx. I am reporting this
bug as I do not want Squeeze to ship with a broken version of this package. Can

Bug#602810: ia32-libs fails in postinst due to wrong version conditioning prior to dpkg-divert

2010-11-08 Thread Daniel Reichelt
Hi Julien,

> If it only happens with 3rd party packages I don't think this counts as
> serious.

Short answer: if the 3rd party package is perfectly fine, that's no
justification, ia32-libs postinstall script still is broken.

Long answer: It may very well be disputable if my bug report is to be
classified serious or not, however for a different reason, namely if
said wrong conditioning of the cleanup code constitutes a violation of
the suggested MO of dpkg-divert in the Debian Policy. And frankly I
don't mind about the seriousness, I just hope it gets fixed :)

So aside from that, serious or not: will the report receive ack status?

Thanks,
Daniel

I believe so, I raised the severity after discussion with the release
team, see thread at
http://lists.debian.org/20101003184543.gf18...@rivendell.home.ouaza.com

Unfortunately, the release team has not changed its initial decision
apparently. Even if the maintainer would like to see the version updated
as well...

Cheers,

I send an e-mail about the problem to Fujifilm via the web form. I

Package: shotwell
Version: 0.6.1-1+b1
Severity: important

Not sure if it's related to #589219 (gthumb can't import photos either).
Looking at shotwell help, it seems to say that it uses gphoto2 directly,
so I guess it /should/ work.

Basically, nothing appears in shotwell when I plug my camera (a canon
eos 350d). gphoto2 sees it correctly, so I guess shotwell should see it
too.

As a side note, I *dont* use GNOME, though I have some stuff (gconf,
gvfs) installed.

If you need more info or now how to debug this and need me to do some
stuff, please ask.

Cheers,

Package: gthumb
Version: 3:2.11.4-3
Severity: important

Since the beginning of the 2.11 serie, it seems that I can't import
photos from my camera anymore.

I guess it's related to some switch to gvfs, but it's painfully
annoying. For some background, I don't use GNOME, so no way I can check
anything in Nautilus or something related.

gphoto2 can see my camera (Canon EOS 350D), I can gvfs-mount it using:

gvfs-mount "gphoto2://[usb:]/"

and browse it in .gvfs/

but I *can't* see it in gthumb. If I try to import photo from removable
devices, the dropdown menu for selecting the device is empty.

I'm not exactly sure how it's supposed to work, so if I miss something,
please say so. If you need more information on the system, please ask.

(as a side note, running Help/Content shows me a nice “Location not
supported” which kind of defeat the help concept).

Cheers,

Hello,

I recently did some ramblings about modernizing libgphoto2's udev
rules to work in a Linux world without hal [1]. I added a new udev
rule mode "136" and while I was at it, replaced the slow
check-ptp-camera shell script with a more efficient udev db query.
The patch got committed upstream now.

This doesn't break functionality with hal at all, of course.

This debdiff applies it to the Debian package and also moves udev rule
creation from postinst to debian/rules. This is possible now, since
from udev 136 on, rules are shipped in /lib/udev/rules.d/, thus
avoid becoming conffiles.

Thanks for considering,

Martin

 * Add patch 01_udev_rules_136: Add a new udev mode "136" to create
contemporary udev rules which will avoid using the check_ptp_camera
script, and provide udev DB tags for the hal deprecation. (Now accepted
   into upstream svn).
 * debian/libgphoto2-2.postinst: Drop udev rule creation. Udev rules are
shipped in /lib now since udev 136, thus we can do it at build time. Drop
   debian/libgphoto2-2.dirs for this.
 * debian/rules: Create udev rules (with new mode 136), install them with
   dh_installudev.

does not show anything.

It was working before (albeit the format of the windows and everything
seems to have changed).

Normally iPhone registers as PTP camera (AFAIR).

(Furthermore, pressing the Help button in the import window does not
do anything)

Package: gvfs-backends
Version: 1.4.3-1
Severity: important

I'm running sid, with nautilus and friends up to date.
Since 1 or 2 months ago I'm unable to use my Canon Powershot A590 IS as always:
 1. plug it in via usb
 2. turn it on
 3. see nautilus automount it thanks to gphoto2 gvfs backend
 4. happiness

I remind that this broke around the time of 1.4.1-5, when HAL was apparently
removed from gvfs packages.

The current situation is:
 1. plug the camera via usb
 2. turn it on
 3. nothing happens

No unit is shown in nautilus' computer://, nor automount happens.

*HOWEVER* I can access my camera with nautilus by manually typying the camera
id, right now for example:
nautilus gphoto2://[usb:001015]/

The camera is listed then as a mounted unit but just as "Digital Camera
(usb:001015)". I can access my photos and do stuff as usual.

The camera is accessible to f-spot or any application using gphoto2, even
gphoto2 itself:
~$ gphoto2 --auto-detect
Modelo Puerto

--
Canon PowerShot A590 ISusb:

lsusb sees it without problem:
~$ lsusb

This should go to sid, not tpu. Also adding new Pre-Depends requires
explanation and discussion on debian-devel first.

don't you think 'critical' is a bit too much? I don't consider
apt/aptitude so unrelated to apt-listchanges. 'serious' would have
been enough, but still RC.

Anyhow, I've just committed to the git repo your patch, and I'll
upload the package soon.

Sorry for bothering.
Due to twitter changes the authentication method from basic to OAuth, we
have to upgrade librest 0.6 to 0.7.
The result is emerillon doesn't build anymore.

To solve this is not very hard. We just need to change "rest-0.6 >= 0.6"
to "rest-0.7 >= 0.6" in configure.ac and then re-generate the configure.

I've already well tested this by myself.
I'll attach the reference patch as attachment.

Many Thanks,
Paul

Yes, seems like gthumb requires it to be mounted.
If you manually mount it, can gthumb see it?

If yes, then the bug is "just" that gthumb needs to mount it before trying.

I reproduced this bug in a clean install of debian/testing with a
mipsel-malta kernel running in Qemu under AMD64.

The bug seems to come from libkpathsea5 and not from dvi2ps. It exists
on all platforms (at least also on AMD64) but does not trigger a
segfault. It comes from the kpse_set_suffixes function in the
libkpathsea compatibility API which calls the kpathsea_set_suffixes
function and passes to it its variable list of arguments. This operation
is invalid in C.

Attached is a backtrace of the segfault and two patches for
texk/kpathsea/tex-file.c (inside the source package texlive-bin) that
should correct this segfault (I tested them in Qemu but I have no access
to a real mips computer).

The first patch duplicates some code in tex-file.c (approx. 15 lines),
but is smaller and simpler. The second creates a helper function which
reads properly a "va_list" list of arguments. Choose your preferred one.

Alvaro,
thanks for your previous mail on the matter of the license of your
of your SHA-1 SSE2/MMX implementation.

You said you were fine with either GPLv2 or GPLv3. Aircrack-ng is
licensed under the GPLv2 with an additional exception for linking
against OpenSSL:

| In addition, as a special exception, the copyright holders give
| permission to link the code of portions of this program with the
| OpenSSL library under certain conditions as described in each
| individual source file, and distribute linked combinations
| including the two.
| You must obey the GNU General Public License in all respects for all of
| the code used other than OpenSSL.
| * If you modify file(s) with this exception, you may extend this
| exception to your version of the file(s), but you are not obligated to
| do so.
| * If you do not wish to do so, delete this exception statement from your
| version.
| * If you delete this exception statement from all source files in the
| program, then also delete it here.

Can you give us a quick reconfirmation that GPLv2 plus the exception
above can be taken as the license for your code?

Cheers,
Moritz

Package: openjdk-6
Version: 6b11-9.1+lenny2
Severity: serious

The latest security update on Lenny fails to build only on s390. It thus
cannot be incorporated into a point release before that's fixed. (See [1].)

The failure is also reproducable with a machine with 4G of RAM, so it's not a
buildd problem of too few RAM. Given that the limits are explicitly set I
suppose
they need to be raised? (s390 does only provide for a maximum of 2G virtual
memory, though.)

Sure, but it wouldn't help the broken Lenny version, of course.

Since the current testing version builds fine on s390, we could mark
6b18-1.8.2-4 as fixed?

I think we discussed this with debian-release team. And, team is not
agree to put new upstream (and too huge debdiff!) to testing now,
which is all 'ok' from my side.

If release team can 'unlock' gwibber, that will be great too :)

Hi Victor,

thank you very much for the offer. I think having version 1.4.1 should be the
minimum requirement for Debian Squeeze. However I'm afraid we won't be allowed
to do any additional upload for Squeeze only for an updated version.

The GIT repository used for the Debian solr packaging was a bit of an
experiment of me. I would be willing to throw it away and let you start from
skretch if this would help you.

Best regards,

Thomas Koch, http://www.koch.ro

Both bugs marked as blocked have been fixed and transitioned to testing,

Hi,
Raphael, you raised the severity w/o any comment in the bug trail,
should twitter support be available for Squeeze?

If the version from experimental should be uploaded to sid, it needs
to be discussed with release managers, adding to CC.

2010-11-08 Thread Thomas Goirand
Hi.

Please, this requires *no reply* AT ALL, we don't need to waste more
time, the decision has been made already.

I'm not arguing or what so ever, but I think I still need to comment on
the comments, just for the record, to tell what happened, and to tell
what's behind the code being reviewed.

There we go again... I think it has been discussed already. Never mind.

Yes, as this is the result of one year of development, that ended on the
10th of September when it was released. I spent all the summer
cleaning-up so that I could finally do an upload to SID on the 11th of
last September, just after I was made DD last June. I unfortunately
first worked on all other packages (and some that DTC was depending on),
which were pending since I didn't find sponsors. What a bad timing, and
what a bad move on my side...

Hard to tell as you don't tell where you found it, but generally no.
This is an open source project, anyone could dig and find out: this just
helps debugging when needed, but I don't see how this could disclose
anything important. What security issue would it be to have a source
code line number and file name? If someone differs, please explain your
view.

> dtc-0.30.20/admin/inc/dtc_config.php - huge set of changes, including a
> load of new features (Custom registration fields, a new radius
> implementation etc)

Yes, as (again) I worked on version 0.32.x for Squeeze, and left behind
0.30.x. Version 0.32.x is NOT just a fix for 0.30.x. If you are
considering the diff, then you will find lots of changes for sure. Never
the less, 0.30.x has *never* been aimed at Squeeze. This is totally
irrelevant here to try to see differences between the 2 versions, and
that's the wrong thing being done. I've stressed it many times, but
never mind.

> dtc-0.32.5/admin/dtc_db.php and

The engine for maintaining the db has been rewritten (see
dtc/admin/restor_db.php), and dtc_db.php had lots of minor changes
because of this. But the upgrade is still very smooth, and nobody
complained about it. In fact, it's a WAY better than many hacks in
0.30.x, because this version of the code also changes variables TYPES if
needed (producing some ALTER TABLE). But globally, the SQL structure is
the same, and upgrades are smooth, since day one of DTC, nobody every
complained about SQL structure upgrades.

> dtc-0.32.5/admin/dtc_import_all_dbs:

This one isn't at all used for the setup. It's for migrating one DTC
instance from a given server to another (and more specifically, this
file import what has been scp to the new server). It's called by
dtc_migrate. This helps moving a full server within minutes (I already
managed to do this kind of operation in less than 15 minutes thanks to
this script). I don't even think this file was there in version 0.30.x.

Not at all. Please don't assume. :)

Yes, I've done a grep to find them all, but I have carefully replaced
them were it was armless (and in other places, like in the payment
gateway forwarders did some escape). This, plus many other *careful*
cleanups pushed me to ask for removal, as I don't want to see the older
versions in Squeeze. This also, has been used in production by many
users, nobody ever reported anything about it.

Hi,

to address bugs #577062 and #601959 an upload of the source packages
debian-junior, debian-med and debian-science will be needed. It
basically moves the Dependency from blends-common in
{junior,science,med}-config to a Pre-Dependency to make sure that the
needed config file is really available at configuration time. I think
only one example diff for debian-junior is sufficient to demonstrate
the change (see attachment).

BTW, the blends-dev scripts which verify the availability of packages in
the target distribution found that the spider package will not be
released with Squeeze and thus there is another change in the changelog.
Because of this "checking what is really released feature" an upload of
all these metapackages at a time when no massive package changes are
expected any more (now-ish) seems to be reasonable anyway.

I just want to inform you about the upload as it was requested. While
I will run some additional tests whether the problem described in the
bugs above are really fixed I would like to ask for your confirmation
to upload to testing-proposed-updates.

Kind regards and thanks for working on the release management

  Andreas.

Hi,

both sugar-tools-0.90 and sugar-session-0.90 ar not installable in sid on
any architecture, since

  sugar-session-0.90 (= 0.90.3-1) depends on missing: - python-sugar-0.90

As a consequence, sucrose-0.90 and sugar-emulator-0.90 are not installable
as well as these depend on sugar-session-90.

according to #596899, the remaining problems are that wine doesn't
build, and there are some leftover debhelper files in the source. is
that it? i can take a look at those problems.

Source: dtc
Version: 0.30.10-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

the dtc source contains binaries without source code in the *.zip files
in the windows-dynip-updater directory. At least "ssleay32.dll",
"libeay32.dll" seem to have no source. Probably "Setup.exe" as well.

There is also a binary "DTCClient.exe" which may or may not correspond
to the source. It probably should not be shipped in the original
tarball in any case.

Regards,
Ansgar

I've had a look at the diff
( 425 files changed, 102770 insertions(+), 49242 deletions(-) ) !

and there's things in just the first few files that make this unsuitable
for this stage of the freeze, and some worrying changes in general. Just
picking through the file at complete random:

 - return "Admin not found!";
 + return "Admin $adm_login not found line ".__LINE__." file ".__FILE__;

Would this lead to some information disclosure?

dtc-0.30.20/admin/inc/dtc_config.php - huge set of changes, including a
load of new features (Custom registration fields, a new radius
implementation etc)

dtc-0.32.5/admin/dtc_db.php and dtc-0.32.5/admin/dtc_import_all_dbs:
looks like a load of changes to the database.

A lot of:
 -
 +
Makes me wonder if this been through a search and replace tool.

As this is such a small selection from what is a huge diff, I'm afraid
I've gone with the suggestion and added the DTC removal hint.

I'm not too sure then. It might be that gthumb requires the camera to be
gvfs-mounted while shotwell doesn't.

It's been a long time since I tested with sid libgphoto2, but yes, it
works now and it wasn't working back then.

Hi,

This bug is due to a version of folks that is too recent for empathy
2.32. Empathy 2.91.x should fix that, but it requires GTK3. So for now
the best is to wait until all required build-dependencies reach
experimental.

Uhm. I just had a report from one of the users I CCed, and he said gThumb works
again (oops, I forgot to CC the bugreport, thanks for doing so).

Just to be sure: shotwell didn't work with sid's libgphoto2 packages, but
worked with my packages, right? If this is true, I'll upload them, and then
investigate further on gthumb's side.

Kindly,
David

Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.98-1
Severity: important
Tags: squeeze

Please see debian bug #582177 for some already-done debuging. The only
__grub__ bug I could find that seemed relevant to this problem was #575076.

Very recent changes to the grub-pc have caused my system to fail to "load
ramdisk" at boot. I have to boot the system with the backup initrd image. I
have checked with "rootdelay=10"--no change. The problem originally was
thought to be in the initramfs-tools package. The problems appeared in
mid-February 2010. I am only using the squeeze dataset without items from
experimental or other sources.

My system is different from most in that my / partition is inside a luks crypto
container which is then on a RAID 6 volume. The /boot is on an unencrypted
RAID 1 volume. Each physical disk has a separate bios_grub partition (128k)
and the partition tables are GPT.

As I said before this above setup WORKS and I have a 6TB system where the
"boot" disk can fail (I tested this) and the system comes back alive. For
whatever reason, recent changes to grub-pc 1) make it not "see" the hard drives
or any USB devices for that mater, 2) fails to start the RAID devices, and thus
3) the kernel panics during the boot sequence.

Thank you for all your work.

This is solved with 1:10-9-3, but it has not been migrated to testing, yet

increase the severity since this does leave the driver unusable. we
need the new ia32libs to migrate to testing, but that may not happen
(see discussion on debian-release). should/can we request a rebuild in
the testing environment to make sure the old ia32libs is used instead?

We have to upload it to t-p-u, but I will give ia32-libs again a few
days, hopefully it will be solved, soon..

Hi there,

Since flvplayer can't be redistributed, I sent an e-mail to its author asking
if would he be so kind to start allowing redistribution. Don't expect source
code, tho, from what he states in his website, he frowns upon source code
requests.

Also, since upstream is redistributing flvplayer, which they aren't allowed
to, I filled a bug upstream:

Bug#566650: Bug #566650: Please unblock dtc 0.32.2-1

2010-11-08 Thread Thomas Goirand
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

I have mixed feelings here. At the same time, I want to say sorry for
insisting so much, and I feel I'm a jerk to do so. But at the same time
I don't feel happy about the final outcome, just because of a timing
issue, and I know the package is in good shape. :/

Yes, there is backports.d.o. No, it's not the same as being in stable (I
would have use b.d.o anyway, this is removing the possibility to have 2
branches in stable at the same time, so people can choose).

As it stands, it's unreasonable to even try working on the 0.30.x branch
for Squeeze, given the short amount of time remaining. I feel very sad
about it, but as there's no way to convince the RT that the 0.32.x
branch is in a very good shape for Squeeze (my users can tell it is...),
I have to ask for the removal of src:dtc from testing. Please proceed if
there's no way to change your mind about unblocking.

Thomas Goirand (zigo)

P.S: If there is room for reconsidering the decision (which I do not
believe given the current thread), yes, 0.32.5-1 in SID is stable and
ready, and I still believe unblocking it is the way to go.
