The authors apparently found it a good idea to call syscalls directly in sysdeputil.c. Sadly this doesn't appear to work for clone() on s390, as eglibc provides a wrapper for the syscall on this architecture. Instead the code should call clone() in a sane way, i.e. reusing the function from eglibc instead of wrangling the syscalls by itself. The result of this is vsftpd opening the socket just fine, with the child segfaulting in eglibc's syscall.S upon a new connection. --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: vsftpd Source-Version: 2.3.2-3 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of vsftpd, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: vsftpd_2.3.2-3.diff.gz to main/v/vsftpd/vsftpd_2.3.2-3.diff.gz vsftpd_2.3.2-3.dsc to main/v/vsftpd/vsftpd_2.3.2-3.dsc vsftpd_2.3.2-3_i386.deb to main/v/vsftpd/vsftpd_2.3.2-3_i386.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. Bug#602860: mixxx: segfault on startup with QT network socket error
Package: mixxx Version: 1.7.2-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Upon starting mixxx the program segfaults almost immediately with the following error: Warning: [Main]: Qt: Session management error: Could not open network socket Segmentation fault I asked the devs about it in #mixxx on irc.freenode.net and they encouraged me to request an upgrade to a more recent version of mixxx. Bug#602810: ia32-libs fails in postinst due to wrong version conditioning prior to dpkg-divert
Hi Julien, > If it only happens with 3rd party packages I don't think this counts as > serious. Short answer: if the 3rd party package is perfectly fine, that's no justification, ia32-libs postinstall script still is broken. Long answer: It may very well be disputable if my bug report is to be classified serious or not, however for a different reason, namely if said wrong conditioning of the cleanup code constitutes a violation of the suggested MO of dpkg-divert in the Debian Policy. And frankly I don't mind about the seriousness, I just hope it gets fixed :) So aside from that, serious or not: will the report receive ack status? Hi, On Mon, 08 Nov 2010, Moritz Muehlenhoff wrote: > Raphael, you raised the severity w/o any comment in the bug trail, > should twitter support be available for Squeeze? I believe so, I raised the severity after discussion with the release team, see thread at http://lists.debian.org/20101003184543.gf18...@rivendell.home.ouaza.com > If the version from experimental should be uploaded to sid, it needs > to be discussed with release managers, adding to CC. Looking at shotwell help, it seems to say that it uses gphoto2 directly, so I guess it /should/ work. Basically, nothing appears in shotwell when I plug my camera (a canon eos 350d). gphoto2 sees it correctly, so I guess shotwell should see it too. As a side note, I *dont* use GNOME, though I have some stuff (gconf, gvfs) installed. If you need more info or now how to debug this and need me to do some stuff, please ask. I guess it's related to some switch to gvfs, but it's painfully annoying. For some background, I don't use GNOME, so no way I can check anything in Nautilus or something related. gphoto2 can see my camera (Canon EOS 350D), I can gvfs-mount it using: gvfs-mount "gphoto2://[usb:]/" and browse it in .gvfs/ but I *can't* see it in gthumb. If I try to import photo from removable devices, the dropdown menu for selecting the device is empty. I'm not exactly sure how it's supposed to work, so if I miss something, please say so. If you need more information on the system, please ask. (as a side note, running Help/Content shows me a nice “Location not supported” which kind of defeat the help concept). I added a new udev rule mode "136" and while I was at it, replaced the slow check-ptp-camera shell script with a more efficient udev db query. The patch got committed upstream now. This doesn't break functionality with hal at all, of course. This debdiff applies it to the Debian package and also moves udev rule creation from postinst to debian/rules. This is possible now, since from udev 136 on, rules are shipped in /lib/udev/rules.d/, thus avoid becoming conffiles. Thanks for considering, Martin [1] http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/devkit-devel/2009-June/000191.html [2] https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2801117&group_id=8874&atid=308874 -- Martin Pitt| http://www.piware.de Ubuntu Developer (www.ubuntu.com) | Debian Developer (www.debian.org) * Add patch 01_udev_rules_136: Add a new udev mode "136" to create contemporary udev rules which will avoid using the check_ptp_camera script, and provide udev DB tags for the hal deprecation. (Now accepted into upstream svn). * debian/libgphoto2-2.postinst: Drop udev rule creation. Udev rules are shipped in /lib now since udev 136, thus we can do it at build time. Bug#602742: apt-listchanges: errors during removal

I don't consider apt/aptitude so unrelated to apt-listchanges. 'serious' would have been enough, but still RC. > Before upgrading from lenny to squeeze I have started by upgrading > aptitude. Due to twitter changes the authentication method from basic to OAuth, we have to upgrade librest 0.6 to 0.7. The result is emerillon doesn't build anymore. To solve this is not very hard. We just need to change "rest-0.6 >= 0.6" to "rest-0.7 >= 0.6" in configure.ac and then re-generate the configure. I've already well tested this by myself. Bug#602566: segfaults on mipsel
reassign 602566 libkpathsea-dev 2009-7 tags 602566 +patch stop Le vendredi 05 novembre 2010 à 23:51 +0100, Robert Millan a écrit : > Package: dvi2ps > Version: 4.1j-3 > Severity: grave > > Segfaults on mipsel when processing a trivial (attached) test.dvi. > > $ dvi2ps test.dvi > @(#)dvi2ps (j-version) 4.1j > > Prescanning Segmentation fault > I reproduced this bug in a clean install of debian/testing with a mipsel-malta kernel running in Qemu under AMD64. The bug seems to come from libkpathsea5 and not from dvi2ps. It exists on all platforms (at least also on AMD64) but does not trigger a segfault. It comes from the kpse_set_suffixes function in the libkpathsea compatibility API which calls the kpathsea_set_suffixes function and passes to it its variable list of arguments. This operation is invalid in C. Attached is a backtrace of the segfault and two patches for texk/kpathsea/tex-file.c (inside the source package texlive-bin) that should correct this segfault (I tested them in Qemu but I have no access to a real mips computer). The first patch duplicates some code in tex-file.c (approx. 15 lines), but is smaller and simpler. The second creates a helper function which reads properly a "va_list" list of arguments. I think having version 1.4.1 should be the minimum requirement for Debian Squeeze. However I'm afraid we won't be allowed to do any additional upload for Squeeze only for an updated version. The GIT repository used for the Debian solr packaging was a bit of an experiment of me. I would be willing to throw it away and let you start from skretch if this would help you. Hi. Please, this requires *no reply* AT ALL, we don't need to waste more time, the decision has been made already. I'm not arguing or what so ever, but I think I still need to comment on the comments, just for the record, to tell what happened, and to tell what's behind the code being reviewed. I think it has been discussed already. Never mind. Yes, as this is the result of one year of development, that ended on the 10th of September when it was released. I spent all the summer cleaning-up so that I could finally do an upload to SID on the 11th of last September, just after I was made DD last June. I unfortunately first worked on all other packages (and some that DTC was depending on), which were pending since I didn't find sponsors. Hard to tell as you don't tell where you found it, but generally no. This is an open source project, anyone could dig and find out: this just helps debugging when needed, but I don't see how this could disclose anything important. What security issue would it be to have a source code line number and file name? If someone differs, please explain your view. > dtc-0.30.20/admin/inc/dtc_config.php - huge set of changes, including a > load of new features (Custom registration fields, a new radius > implementation etc) Yes, as (again) I worked on version 0.32.x for Squeeze, and left behind 0.30.x. Version 0.32.x is NOT just a fix for 0.30.x. If you are considering the diff, then you will find lots of changes for sure. Never the less, 0.30.x has *never* been aimed at Squeeze. This is totally irrelevant here to try to see differences between the 2 versions, and that's the wrong thing being done. I've stressed it many times, but never mind. > dtc-0.32.5/admin/dtc_db.php and The engine for maintaining the db has been rewritten (see dtc/admin/restor_db.php), and dtc_db.php had lots of minor changes because of this. But the upgrade is still very smooth, and nobody complained about it. In fact, it's a WAY better than many hacks in 0.30.x, because this version of the code also changes variables TYPES if needed (producing some ALTER TABLE). But globally, the SQL structure is the same, and upgrades are smooth, since day one of DTC, nobody every complained about SQL structure upgrades. > dtc-0.32.5/admin/dtc_import_all_dbs: This one isn't at all used for the setup. It's for migrating one DTC instance from a given server to another (and more specifically, this file import what has been scp to the new server). It's called by dtc_migrate. This helps moving a full server within minutes (I already managed to do this kind of operation in less than 15 minutes thanks to this script). I don't even think this file was there in version 0.30.x. > looks like a load of changes to the database. > > A lot of: > - > + > Makes me wonder if this been through a search and replace tool. Not at all. Please don't assume. :) Yes, I've done a grep to find them all, but I have carefully replaced them were it was armless (and in other places, like in the payment gateway forwarders did some escape). This, plus many other *careful* cleanups pushed me to ask for removal, as I don't want to see the older versions in Squeeze. This also, has been used in production by many users, nobody ever reported anything about it. > As this is such a small selection from what is a huge diff, I'm afraid > I've gone with the suggestion and added the DTC removal hint. > > Neil Thanks. It basically moves the Dependency from blends-common in {junior,science,med}-config to a Pre-Dependency to make sure that the needed config file is really available at configuration time. I think only one example diff for debian-junior is sufficient to demonstrate the change (see attachment). BTW, the blends-dev scripts which verify the availability of packages in the target distribution found that the spider package will not be released with Squeeze and thus there is another change in the changelog. Because of this "checking what is really released feature" an upload of all these metapackages at a time when no massive package changes are expected any more (now-ish) seems to be reasonable anyway. I just want to inform you about the upload as it was requested. While I will run some additional tests whether the problem described in the bugs above are really fixed I would like to ask for your confirmation to upload to testing-proposed-updates. Hi, This bug is due to a version of folks that is too recent for empathy 2.32. Empathy 2.91.x should fix that, but it requires GTK3. Uhm. I just had a report from one of the users I CCed, and he said gThumb works again (oops, I forgot to CC the bugreport, thanks for doing so). Just to be sure: shotwell didn't work with sid's libgphoto2 packages, but worked with my packages, right? If this is true, I'll upload them, and then investigate further on gthumb's side. The only __grub__ bug I could find that seemed relevant to this problem was #575076. Very recent changes to the grub-pc have caused my system to fail to "load ramdisk" at boot. I have to boot the system with the backup initrd image. I have checked with "rootdelay=10"--no change. The problem originally was thought to be in the initramfs-tools package. The problems appeared in mid-February 2010. I am only using the squeeze dataset without items from experimental or other sources. My system is different from most in that my / partition is inside a luks crypto container which is then on a RAID 6 volume. The /boot is on an unencrypted RAID 1 volume. Each physical disk has a separate bios_grub partition (128k) and the partition tables are GPT. As I said before this above setup WORKS and I have a 6TB system where the "boot" disk can fail (I tested this) and the system comes back alive. For whatever reason, recent changes to grub-pc 1) make it not "see" the hard drives or any USB devices for that mater, 2) fails to start the RAID devices, and thus 3) the kernel panics during the boot sequence. Thank you for all your work. C. Bug#566650: Bug #566650: Please unblock dtc 0.32.2-1
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I have mixed feelings here. At the same time, I want to say sorry for insisting so much, and I feel I'm a jerk to do so. But at the same time I don't feel happy about the final outcome, just because of a timing issue, and I know the package is in good shape. :/ Yes, there is backports.d.o. No, it's not the same as being in stable (I would have use b.d.o anyway, this is removing the possibility to have 2 branches in stable at the same time, so people can choose). As it stands, it's unreasonable to even try working on the 0.30.x branch for Squeeze, given the short amount of time remaining. I feel very sad about it, but as there's no way to convince the RT that the 0.32.x branch is in a very good shape for Squeeze (my users can tell it is...), I have to ask for the removal of src:dtc from testing. Please proceed if there's no way to change your mind about unblocking. Thomas Goirand (zigo) P.S: If there is room for reconsidering the decision (which I do not believe given the current thread), yes, 0.32.5-1 in SID is stable and ready, and I still believe unblocking it is the way to go. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkzYDZAACgkQl4M9yZjvmkmPpwCfZs0XIIpMvqqEUcntJYDbFyiI wSYAnAuHvMVnBYjJtrJb5LKt8b1EBNVn =iH3y -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
