Bug#609192: liblocal-lib-perl: FTBFS if homedirectory of building user is not writeable

2011-01-07 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Source: liblocal-lib-perl
Version: 1.006005-1
Severity: serious
Tags: squeeze
Justification: FTBFS

Hi

liblocal-lib-perl FTBFS if home of building user is not writable with
the following:

  debian/rules build
 dh build
dh_testdir
dh_auto_configure
 mkdir /home/salvi: Permission denied at
 /usr/share/perl/5.10/CPAN/HandleConfig.pm line 554
 dh_auto_configure: perl Makefile.PL INSTALLDIRS=vendor create_packlist=0
 returned exit code 13
 make: *** [build] Error 2
dpkg-buildpackage: error: debian/rules build gave error exit status 2

I have attached full build log. The just uploaded version to unstable
does not have this problem anymore.

Bug#609094: fontforge: Fails to build ttf-dejavu

2011-01-07 Thread Hideki Yamane
Hi,

While I investigated this Bug#609094, I could build it with fontforge
0.0.20100501-2. However, with 0.0.20100501-3 it couldn't be succeed.

So, I guessed the change in 0.0.20100501-3 is somthing wrong, and dropped
 --enable-double option from debian/rules built ttf-dejavu fine.

 Can we drop this option?

Bug#608655: scotch and gbase: error when trying to install together

2011-01-07 Thread Julien Cristau

 Hello,

Apologies for the oversight when renaming these binaries for the last
 upload.

I think the scotch user base will expect the standard name of the gbase
binary. So there are a couple of options: conflict with gbase, or
 use /etc/alternatives.

Neither of these are options. Alternatives work for executables with
the same functionality (and at least somewhat compatible command line
options), which doesn't seem to be the case here. Conflicts aren't
allowed by policy for conflicting executable names. You need to rename
the files.

Julien

Three security issues have been reported in libcgi-pm-perl:

http://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2010-2761
http://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2010-4410
http://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2010-4411

The first two issues are fixed in 3.50 (already in sid), but
the second is still pending a final fix (see the referenced
link). Please get in touch with the release team to check,
whether migrating 3.50 plus the fix for CVE-2010-4411 or
uploading a tpu fix with 3.49 plus the security fixes is the
best way to resolve this.

Cheers,
Moritz

 unblock perl/5.10.1-17

The patch applies to lenny (5.10.0-19lenny2) as well with some fuzz after

Moritz: shall I upload a fixed lenny package to stable-security?
FWIW, I'd prefer to wait the five days for squeeze migration before a

I can't reproduce this so I suspect that you didn't actually configure
 debconf properly.
I don't configure anything. I tell cdebootstrap to create a build chroot
and sbuild to build a package. But this clearly fixes it.

I never had such a problem last year, since then I upgraded schroot and
sbuild and recreated my chroot using cdebootstrap -f build. As far as I
know, sbuild should set noninteractive automatically, and I would think
that creating a build chroot would set the frontend to noninteractive
automatically.

I am reassigning this to sbuild and cdebootstrap to get some more
comments and lowering the severity to normal.

It's a bit strange that each time I want to build packagekit, a new
problem appears.

Hi

liblocal-lib-perl FTBFS if home of building user is not writable with
the following:

  debian/rules build
 dh build
dh_testdir
dh_auto_configure
 mkdir /home/salvi: Permission denied at
 /usr/share/perl/5.10/CPAN/HandleConfig.pm line 554
 dh_auto_configure: perl Makefile.PL INSTALLDIRS=vendor create_packlist=0
 returned exit code 13

I have attached full build log. The just uploaded version to unstable
does not have this problem anymore.

 Thanks!

I've attached my latest patch for this bug. It's from the schroot-1.4
branch of the git repository. This is what I intend to upload to fix
the kfreebsd mount problems for squeeze. If you could possibly test
it and let me know if it works, that would be great.

Note that if you autoreconf to update the autotools, you'll need to
set the version to 1.4.18 in VERSION [./bootstrap does this
automatically if building from the git repo].

The (hopefully final) patch is here:

http://git.debian.org/?p=buildd-tools/schroot.git;a=commitdiff;h=132cb05f7908f31052998934dd10883bea4a0e93;hp=release/schroot-1.4.17

This includes an additional fix to 50chrootname to strip the time+PID
from the automatically-generated session name as you noted was not
occuring on #debian-kbsd.

Regards,
Roger

Version 2.1.6 released Monday correct various security issues [1].
According to the changelog [2], these should be addressed by r16879 [3],

Can be fixed post release if necessary, not a blocker. If you do
upload a fix to unstable, please use high urgency and let the release

I agree with Julien. This is not a public vulnerability but one that affects
registered authors.

I would also like to document here that it is possible to install a temporary
workaround provided by the SPIP team and called écran de sécurité:
  http://www.spip.net/article4200.html
This can be used while waiting for an updated package.

Finally, I am very busy these days. I am not sure that I will have much time
to prepare and test a new version soon. However, I would be more than happy to
welcome any interested contributor/maintainer.

Bug#609095: tinyproxy: Bind cannot be used with transparent support enabled error message

2011-01-07 Thread Stefan Bühler
Hi,

very broken bug report...

a) The error message is:
# /etc/init.d/tinyproxy restart
Restarting tinyproxy: Bind cannot be used with transparent support enabled.
Syntax error on line 37
Unable to parse config file. Not starting.

   Not without - with!

b) The configure option is --enable-transparent (it had a different
   name: --enable-transparent-proxy, see

https://banu.com/git/?p=tinyproxy.git;a=commitdiff;h=58ac635a17dcfe8add856fea5af9faacf56aca16)
Renaming this to something unrecognized does turn that option off ofcourse
(removing would be
   the correct way...)

c) The check was inserted here:

https://banu.com/git/?p=tinyproxy.git;a=commitdiff;h=febb521bfd36ae0d647a42bbf7618f57928e9d38
   configure.ac says version was 1.7.0

d) I see no reason why Bind shouldn't work in transparent proxies too, so i
think it is a bug in
tinyproxy (probably removing that config check should fix it).
But this does *not* render the package unusable.

I encounter a serious issue on a Dell R310 server with its both NICs bonded the
Debian way :

* Hardware details for NICs :

Ethernet (rev 20)
02:00.1 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5716 Gigabit
Ethernet (rev 20)

* Running Kernel :

files for Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64
ii linux-headers-2.6.32-5-common 2.6.32-29 Common
header files for Linux 2.6.32-5
ii firmware-bnx2 0.27Binary
firmware for Broadcom NetXtremeII

auto bond0
iface bond0 inet static
slaves eth0 eth1
bond_mode 802.3ad
bond_xmit_hash_policy layer2+3
bond_miimon 100
bond_downdelay 5000
bond_updelay 1
address 192.168.1.10
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.254

As said in the subject, ifupdown exits before the bond interface is active. I
tried to raise the updelay to get the slaves active but it has no effect :

[ 11.426497] bnx2: eth0 NIC Copper Link is Up, 1000 Mbps full duplex
[ 11.478596] bonding: bond0: link status up for interface eth0, enabling it
in 0 ms.
[ 11.486325] bonding: bond0: link status definitely up for interface eth0.
[ 11.493738] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): bond0: link becomes ready
[ 11.515333] bnx2: eth1 NIC Copper Link is Up, 1000 Mbps full duplex
[ 11.590403] bonding: bond0: link status up for interface eth1, enabling it
in 1 ms.
Starting LDAP connection daemon: nslcd[ 21.581245] bonding: bond0: link
status definitely up for interface eth1.
nslcd: failed to bind to LDAP server ldaps://ldap.eve/: Can't contact LDAP
server: Connection timed out
nslcd: no available LDAP server found
nslcd: no base defined in config and couldn't get one from server
 failed!

You can see on this log that sysv-rc tries to start nslcd daemon *before*
bonding module reports bond0 to be effectively up, causing nslcd to fail to
start... As everything on my setup relies on LDAP for auth, nothing is working
until I locally log as root to manually restart failed services...

I'm not sure id I should assign this bug to ifenslave or to ifupdown package,
so sorry for the noise if I'm wrong !

Regards,

Eric

I can't reproduce this. So far as I can see, subversion itself doesn't
require iconv at all, so I assume that on your system it is being pulled
in indirectly (ldd will recurse):

a...@hathi:~$ ldd `which svn` | grep -c iconv

Do things improve if you move your local APR libraries out of the way so
that the versions from the Debian packages are used?

Looking at the source package, it seems that nginx-full, nginx-light and
nginx-extras should declare a 'Replaces' dependency on older versions of
nginx.

Bug#609152: Java application depending on binary dependent packages

2011-01-07 Thread Scott Howard
Since this is currently classified as an RC bug and we are close to
squeeze release, I'll post updates as they come along

The package in testing/unstable builds on powerpc [1]. However,
previous uploads before I adopted these packages FTBFS on powerpc and
thus was removed. I've filed to have it re-included [2]. Hopefully,
rxtx will be available for powerpc soon, thus closing this bug.

Francesco: if you would like to help, you can download the source
package for rxtx that is currently in testing, build and install it.
It should then let you install arduino. If you try, let us know that
it worked.

squeeze is the first debian release to include kde4. Could one of the

I think we need at least:
- a section in the What's new in Debian 6.0 chapter with some highlights
and major differences with previous releases
- a section in the Issues to be aware of chapter with the most
  prominent transition issues, if any

Versions that Squeeze will ship:
KDE SC 4.4.5 with kdepim 4.4.7
Qt 4.6.3

Stuff we have to write about from the top of my head:
- KDE 3 is dead, but kdelibs and some KDE 3 apps are still in the archive.
- Also Qt 3 is around and some apps using it.
- kdelibs from KDE 3 and Qt 3 won't be in the next Debian release.
- changes in the metapackages, plasma-desktop vs plasma-netbook
- kaboom, migrating your settings from KDE 3 to KDE 4:

Let's wait a couple of days in case something important is missing
and I will write the final text.

This is a duplicate of bug #609124 and may therefore be closed here.

I proposed a patch already which should enter very soon to stable. By
the way: Severity is important at most.

documented, but dpkg does have bugs of course.

zoneminder does appear to behave this way.

i just confirmed that if the /usr/share/zoneminder/events directory is already
present before installing zoneminder, it doesn't get converted to a symlink. so
this should make upgrades from source-based installs reasonably safe.

however, if an admin manually replaces /usr/share/zoneminder/events with a
symlink, on installing or upgrading the zoneminder package, the symlink will
get updated to point to the location defined in the package. which is not, as
far as i can tell, a policy violation (otherwise packages would never be able
to update symlinks). obviously it will trigger issues when zmaudit kicks in.

so the problem is only triggered when symlinks don't match what the package
expects.

live well,

iconv is built into glibc, so Debian systems come with it out of the
box. The GNU libiconv is only useful for those systems that don't come
with one or come with one that is very limited. There's really no
reason that a Debian system should ever need a separate libiconv.

Bug#609277: pygobject: FTBFS with older version of glib

2011-01-07 Thread Andres Salomon
Package: pygobject
Version: 2.21.4+is.2.21.3-1
Severity: serious
Justification: violates section 4.2 of policy

The current glib build-dep for pyobject is libglib2.0-dev (= 2.22.4).
With glib 2.24, the build works just fine, but I'm seeing build
failures on porter boxes where libglib2.0-dev is out of date (and thus
2.22 is still being pulled in.

Here's one where glib is at 2.24:
https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=pygobject;ver=2.21.4%2Bis.2.21.3-1~bpo50%2B1;arch=powerpc;stamp=1294418053

Here's one where glib hasn't caught up yet, and is still at 2.22:
https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=pygobject;ver=2.21.4%2Bis.2.21.3-1~bpo50%2B1;arch=i386;stamp=1294422021

The build-dep should be bumped to be libglib2.0-dev (= 2.24).

I'm leaving off the squeeze-ignore tag for now (the release team can
decide that), as though I noticed this while doing a lenny backport,
it has very little to do w/ lenny; it's something that could easily
affect squeeze given an architecture with buildds that are trying to
catch up.

This is no problem for squeeze.

I'll have a look at this anyway and fix it in experimental.

For your specific case, you can bump the b-d in your backport.

Do things improve if you move your local APR libraries out of the way so
that the versions from the Debian packages are used?

I'm sorry I missed this! Thanks for the help, Adam.
Brian: Thanks for pointing out that iconv is built into glibc in Debian.

On a related note, why did Subversion pick up the libraries in
/usr/local before the one in /usr? I don't have LD_LIBRARY_PATH or any
