Bug#624511: libpgm-dev and libnetpbm9-dev: error when trying to install together

2011-04-29 Thread Ralf Treinen
Package: libnetpbm9-dev,libpgm-dev
Version: libnetpbm9-dev/2:10.0-12.2+b1
Version: libpgm-dev/5.1.116~dfsg-1
Severity: serious
User: trei...@debian.org

Date: 2011-04-29
Architecture: amd64
Distribution: sid

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/lib/libpgm.a
  /usr/lib/libpgm.so

This bug is assigned to both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

-Ralf.

PS: for more information about the detection of file overwrite errors
of this kind see http://edos.debian.net/file-overwrites/.

Moritz, can you name which upstream commits are needed to fix this?

John, what are your plans to get this fixed in squeeze? I just tested,
the package still FTBFS in squeeze, and in the case of a potential
needed security or otherwise related update, this *really* needs to get
fixed for squeeze, too.

 Thanks for any information,

I agree, I think conffile changes like this should be avoided if
possible. I looked at the diff for the conffile prompt and it appears
its not really needed but I'm not familiar enough with the package to
properly judge. Still, u-n should be able to handle it :)

> That said, u-a didn't do a very intelligent thing here either.

I pushed a fix for the bug into:
 bzr get http://bzr.debian.org/apt/unattended-upgrades/debian-squeeze
and prepared a update to stable.

The asterisk package will now be held back from the upgrade and
unattended-upgrades warns about that in its logfile and in the mail
that is send out (as expected).

It does not print anything to stdout though so it will not trigger
cron mails. This was part of the original design, but thinking further
about it I wonder if it should, just to make sure that the users are
aware of it (i.e. I wonder if people bother checking the logs/mails
every now and then).

Cheers,
 Michael

Using openmovieeditor I am unable to play any video and hence cannot use

I have been careful not to install the ffmpeg/libav* packages from

and see the picture. However I cannot play back the video on the

Console shows the following when I attempt to play the video on the

Good point. In fact, the release team has now approved the transition,
so we should probably get this fixed shortly. I plan to upload the fix

Bug#624408: Migrate release to testing

2011-04-29 Thread Florian Uekermann
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

it's a great thing to have a debian package for go. And since you are
keeping up with the weekly releases I don't need to build from upstream
myself anymore. One thing less I need to care about at work; thanks for
that and keep up the good work. Good decision to include the source and
documentation too, since I need both for reference and the one at their
webpage is only up to date with their last stable release.

It would be nice to see the stable releases (those tagged "release" in
upstream) in testing too. Maybe consider "resolving" this bug for the
next stable upstream release and reopen it for the weely release after that.
The stable releases don't seem to happen that often (the last is about 2
month old) and the API changes aren't that bad, so having the latest and
greatest golang release in the next stable would be a good thing imho.

Besides... ...gccgo just migrated to testing and its a pain to use, so
it would be nice if people using wheezy had the choice to use golang
alternatively (if they don't want to use sid, or just aren't aware of
the package in sid). No matter how bad the situation turns out to be, it
will be still an inprovement for those using wheezy.

Best regards,
Florian

PS.: If you need a helping hand with anything regarding these packages,
no matter what the task is, just ask.

Package: runit
Version: 2.1.1-6
Severity: important

1. Install git-daemon-run (version 1:1.7.2.3-2.1).
2. dpkg --purge git-daemon-run.

Then a second or two later, "ps ax | grep runsvdir" tells me
(linewrapping added):

runsvdir -P /etc/service log: \
rning: unable to open supervise/stat.new: file does not exist
runsv git-daemon: warning: unable to open supervise/stat.new: file does
not exist
runsv git-daemon: warning: unable to open supervise/pid.new: file does
not exist
runsv git-daemon: warning: unable to open log/supervise/pid.new: file
does not exist
runsv git-daemon: warning: unable to open log/supervise/pid.new: file
does not exist

and I get the following output from prerm and postrm:

Service git-daemon removed, the service daemon received the TERM and
CONT signals.
fail: git-daemon: unable to change to service directory: file does not
exist
Removing user `gitlog' ...
Warning: group `nogroup' has no more members.
userdel: user gitlog is currently logged in
/usr/sbin/deluser: `/usr/sbin/userdel gitlog' returned error code 8.
Exiting.

If I instead do

2. dpkg --remove git-daemon-run
3. dpkg --purge git-daemon-run

(giving "update-service --remove" time to finish) then the output is
instead

Service git-daemon removed, the service daemon received the TERM and
CONT signals.
fail: git-daemon: unable to change to service directory: file does not
exist
Removing user `gitlog' ...
Warning: group `nogroup' has no more members.
Done.

which seems relatively successful.

Ideas? For reference, git-daemon-run.prerm does

update-service --remove /etc/sv/git-daemon

and git-daemon-run.postrm purge does, approximately

sv force-stop git-daemon

rm -rf /etc/sv/git-daemon/supervise /etc/sv/git-daemon/log/supervise
rm -rf /var/lib/supervise/git-daemon /var/lib/supervise/git-daemon.log
for i in '@*' current config lock state
do
rm -f /var/log/git-daemon/$i
done
rmdir /var/log/git-daemon

getent passwd gitlog && exec deluser -f gitlog

Perhaps update-service should be made synchronous?

Bug#624546: approx: Fails to notice mirror updates

2011-04-29 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: approx

Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

running apt-get update today led to no upgradable packages on this sid
amd64 box, which is a bit surprising. Switching sources.list from
localhost: to the mirror pointed to in the approx configuration
showed 34 upgradable packages. Switching back to localhost: make
those disappear.

Please let me know what you need to debug this.

Seems like good idea - could you ping me when there is a release tag?

The only reason why to remove golang from testing is to not have it in
stable, so what I can do is to let it into testing, but remove it
after freeze.

There seems to be a bug with dynamic linker with libc6 from
experimental :). It would be great if you can solve that.

And you can always send pull requests for git.

Hi,

sorry guys, I didn't notice the FTBFS in experimental before
re-uploading to unstable.

Probably this issue upstream:
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34767

And the following fix:

commit 84e361c8e357e26f299213fbeefe64c73447b116
Author: Søren Sandmann Pedersen
Date: Fri Mar 4 15:51:18 2011 -0500

test: Do endian swapping of the source and destination images.

Otherwise the test fails on big endian. Fix for bug 34767, reported by
Siarhei Siamashka.

Not sure when I'll have time to check this, so filing a bug for now.

I believe this is due to the recent introduction of InRelease files
(combination of Release + Release.gpg) in sid and wheezy.

But just to be sure, please turn on $debug in your approx.conf file,
and send me the log of an "apt-get update" against your approx server.

I have a new version that handles InRelease files, but its upload is
waiting for the transition to OCaml 3.12 to finish. If you'd like to
try it in the meantime, I can send you a .deb (or you can build it
from its git repo using git-buildpackage).

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Alright, will do that next week; right now it's hash sum mismatch

Bug#624566: apparmor: FTBFS: Can't locate Locale/gettext.pm in @INC

2011-04-29 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: apparmor
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

Builds of apparmor in minimal environments, including those of most
autobuilders, are failing with the error

Can't locate Locale/gettext.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl
/usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.1 /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5

BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ./gen-xtrans.pl line 4.
make[2]: *** [gen_xtrans] Error 2

To remedy that, please add a build dependency on
liblocale-gettext-perl and verify with pbuilder or the like that no
others are missing.

BTW, I'd also suggest building with V=1, at least for the time being;
as it stands, the mips and mipsel builds are failing with the fairly
uninformative error

*** running tst_regex
make[1]: *** [tests] Error 127

which most likely indicates that either the executable itself or one
of its dependencies is missing but includes no further details on what
actually went wrong.

Thanks!

Bug#624569: FTBFS because of missing build-dependencies

2011-04-29 Thread Alexander Kurtz
Package: src:asterisk
Version: 1:1.8.3.3-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

asterisk currently FTBFS on the hurd, kfreebsd-amd64/-i386 and sparc
because of missing build-dependencies[1]. The missing packages are
libtonezone-dev (src:dahdi-tools) and libsrtp0-dev (src:srpt).

Since it seems unlikely that these packages get fixed soon[2][3], you
should consider building asterisk without these libraries or temporarily
removing asterisk from the affected architectures via [4].

This is especially important since the latest asterisk fixes some
security issues (DSA 2225[5]) but won't be able to migrate to testing
any time soon in the current state.

Please don't hesitate to reassign this bug to the buggy libraries if you
think it's appropriate.

Best regards

Alexander Kurtz

Bug#622280: two workarounds necessary now for gnucash to start

2011-04-29 Thread Bryan Cebuliak
Correct, Jacek. Both guile-1.8-dev and your manual fix are needed
for gnucash to start with guile 1.8.8. Should this be a new
bug or are developers onto it?

Package: inorwegian
Version: 2.0.10-3.2
Severity: serious

Hi,

The package is no longer installable in sid, and needs to be rebuild
with new ispell. Please make sure to declare both Build-Depends,
and Depends on `ispell (>= 3.3.02)'.

Hopefully it should rebuild without any troubles. However
please be aware of minor incompatibility in buildhash. The

buildhash ${dict}.dict ${dict}.aff ${dict}.hash

command used to create two additional files i.e. ${dict}.dict.stat and
${dict}.dict.cnt. With the new buildhash:

 - the *.cnt file is gone (if your Makefiles needs it, create it with
`wc -l < ${dict}.dict');

 - the *.stat file is now ${dict}.stat (i.e. the .dict extension got
stripped out).

Regards,
robert

Actually, no. I removed my upload as I noticed it fixes FTBFS, but
doesn't addresss python2.5 removal. I'm going to prepare a new patch
including fixes to handle the latter.

Bug#621890: haxe & kfreebsd buildd

2011-04-29 Thread Jens Peter Secher
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi, it seem that me...@debian.org has somehow requested that haxe is
removed from testing. I assume it is because it does not build on
kfreebsd. (Is it?)

Now, when I build the package manually on kfreebsd, it works fine.
There have been such buildd problems before with the exact same error
message.

So, I cannot do anything about it. Does this mean that I have to
exclude the haxe package from kfreebsd? Please advice.

Bug#621890: haxe & kfreebsd buildd

2011-04-29 Thread Jens Peter Secher
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi, it seem that me...@debian.org has somehow requested that haxe is
removed from testing. I assume it is because it does not build on
kfreebsd. (Is it?)

Now, when I build the package manually on kfreebsd-amd64, it works fine.
There have been such buildd problems before with the exact same error
message.

So, I cannot do anything about it. Does this mean that I have to
exclude the haxe package from kfreebsd? Please advice.

Cheers,

Bug#622869: python-qwt5-qt4: crashes on s390

2011-04-29 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Gudjon I. Gudjonsson , 2011-04-15, 17:19:

Does rebuilding fix the problem on your s390?

In the mean time:
- python-qwt5-qt has been binNMUed for python-defaults transition;
- guiqwt (which imports PyQt4.Qwt5 at build time) has been rebuilt
successfully on all architectures.

So it look like that rebuilding the package, indeed "fixed" the problem.

This is essentially every change in 1.16 except the changelog and the
version number bump. IMHO it would be better to simply put 1.16 into
squeeze if this is truly worth fixing.

My reading of 5.5.1 in the developers reference doesn't suggest to me
that a FTBFS by itself merits a stable update, but if I'm mistaken in
that belief I'd be happy to put 1.16 into stable.

Could you try pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE repeatedly and quickly?
Or does systemd look up hard?

I've seen similar issues. Could you try reverting
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/commit/?id=0595f9a1c182a84581749823ef47c5f292e545f9

This fixed the issue for me.

libgudev-1.0-0_161-1_amd64.deb libudev0_161-1_amd64.deb udev_161-1_amd64.deb

Valknut builds for me now in unstable on amd64 and i386. Could you verify and,
if it builds, close the bug?
