Bug#627350: python-django-authority and python-camelot: error when trying to install together

2011-05-20 Thread Erik Janssens
Hello Ralf, Joost,

This will be changed upstream. I hope to be able to do
this soon

Thx,

Erik

 Hi Ralf,

 thanks for reporting this.

I'm already aware of the to generic example directory name and discussed
this with upstream (Hi Erik!) and they are considering changing it to camelot-
example or something like that. If a new upstream release is quite some time
away I'll temporary fix it in the package.

Bug#627182: libapr1: last security update introduces a infinite loop condition

2011-05-20 Thread Roberto
Date: 2011 05 20

Hi,
I can confirm the same problem on our prod server after upgrade to
libapr1-1.2.12-5+lenny3:
the problem is triggered by some configuration directive in apache.conf;

package details:
ii apache2
2.2.9-10+lenny9Apache HTTP Server metapackage
ii apache2-mpm-prefork 2.2.9-10+lenny9
Apache HTTP Server - traditional non-threade
ii apache2-utils
2.2.9-10+lenny9utility programs for webservers
ii apache2.2-common2.2.9-10+lenny9
Apache HTTP Server common files
ii libapache2-mod-auth-pgsql 2.0.3-5
Module for Apache2 which provides pgsql auth
ii libapr1
1.2.12-5+lenny3The Apache Portable Runtime Library
ii libaprutil1
1.2.12+dfsg-8+lenny5The Apache Portable Runtime Utility Library

O.S.: Linux i686 GNU/Linux

I have also some GDB debug if someone is interested: it shows an
application loop in the apr_fnmatch() function
(I can provide the full debug session on someone will ask for it):

Breakpoint 1, apr_fnmatch (pattern=0x9b0e7c0
/somestring/*/*/*/*/other_string/, string=0x9b5a5a0 /somestring,

Thanks

Bug#627382: xscreensaver: Fails to lock screen

2011-05-20 Thread Laurent Fousse
Package: xscreensaver
Version: 5.13-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

Hello,

Steps to reproduce:

1) launch xscreensaver
2) launch xscreensaver-command -lock in another terminal.
3) The screen starts to turn blank, but returns to normal again
   immediately after turning fully blank.

At this point xscreensaver has exited with the following message:

##

xscreensaver: 11:05:19: X Error! PLEASE REPORT THIS BUG.
xscreensaver: 11:05:19: screen 0/0: 0xaf, 0x0, 0x1a1

Major opcode of failed request: 131 (DPMS)
Minor opcode of failed request: 6 (DPMSForceLevel)
Serial number of failed request: 655
Current serial number in output stream: 656

###

If at all possible, please re-run xscreensaver with the command
line arguments `-sync -verbose -log log.txt', and reproduce this
bug. That will cause xscreensaver to dump a `core' file to the
current directory. Please include the stack trace from that core
file in your bug report. *DO NOT* mail the core file itself! That
won't work. A log.txt file will also be written. Please *do*
include the complete log.txt file with your bug report.

http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/bugs.html explains how to create
the most useful bug reports, and how to examine core files.

The more information you can provide, the better. But please
report this bug, regardless!

###

When I try to reproduce the problem with xscreensaver -sync -verbose -log
log.txt,
the screensaver does not exit but is stuck at 100% CPU and not
responding.

It seems they have the same problem in Fedora:

Thank you for caring.
The reason for filing this bug was for me, as user of mainly the testing

Since now the mysql packages from unstable have not reached testing.

For me it is ok you closed the bug.

Bug#627397: xscreensaver: crashes when locking the screen

2011-05-20 Thread Albert Dengg
Package: xscreensaver
Version: 5.13-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

hi,

since a few days, xscreensaver crashes upon locking via
xscreensaver-command -lock

that actually creates a security problem because if you send your
notebook to sleep (suspend to ram) via closing it, you won't notice
until you start it again, but in effekt the account was basically open
to everyone.

see attached log file

Bug#621938: Patch

2011-05-20 Thread Dave Walker

Hi,

I have attached a patch, but looking at the upstream changelog it seems
that either this (or a similar) patch has landed in a newer upstream
release.

Are you planning a new release?

Thanks.

Kind Regards,
Dave Walker

Bug#627300: Patch for version 1.9

2011-05-20 Thread Andreas Ulm
Hi,

I've written a patch for mytop version 1.9 mentioned here:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=590505

This patch replaces the CPAN Config::IniFiles with Config::GitLike.

If you like you can adapt it easily for version 1.6 by changing the lines.

Bug#627435: radio: Fails to control tuner in any way

2011-05-20 Thread Johannes Strecha
Package: radio
Version: 3.95.dfsg.1-8.1+b1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Launching 'radio' throws the error VIDIOCGAUDIO: Invalid argument. It appears
to behave normal but fails to tune or mute the tuner (saa7134).

Here a solution is given:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680813
I have compiled version 3.100 from this page and it works just fine. However it
still fails to mute the tuner upon exiting.

Unfortunately I have no Idea how to submit a package, so I write this report.
Thanks for being there.
Johannes.

This one rather seems a problem either in icewm or in xserver-xorg-core. I
have some other things to do now, but hope to have time to go to #626331 and
clone a specific bug for the icewm part. Since I am not sure if xorg or icewm
is to blame, I will reassign to both simultaneously, so both teams can look
 at the problem

I posted this patch for review at:

Hi, Marko,

Noticed that you also posted the proposed fix to icewmbg related bug report,

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=100031aid=3289566group_id=31

I am sending a copy of your reply to

http://bugs.debian.org/626774 [crash on loading background image]

which may be related to the same problem (ancient xv sources seems to use
XSetWindowBackgroundPixmap), and to

 http://bugs.debian.org/626331 [gnome-settings-daemon doesn't allow to log
into IceWM, LXDE.]

and cc'ing submitters in case they want to add something.

By the way, Just noticed a mail from Sergio Cipolla to #626331 reporting
that for both 'icewmbg' and 'pcmanfm --desktop' seems that using a
background image instead of a background colour also prevents the X
session from crashing.

Regards,

Bug#627443: CVE-2011-1929

2011-05-20 Thread Moritz Muehlenhoff
Package: dovecot
Severity: grave
Tags: security

Hi Dovecot maintainers,
CVE-2011-1929 was assigned to the following issue fixed in
1.2.17 and 2.0.13:

| Fixed potential crashes and other problems when parsing
| header names that contained NUL characters.

http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2011-May/059085.html
http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2011-May/059086.html

Patch:
http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-1.1/rev/3698dfe0f21c

Could you contact upstream wrt the exact impact? What is
being crashed here, can someone only crash a delivery
thread or can the whole IMAP server be crashed through
malformed mail messages? In the latter case we should
release a DSA.

Cheers,
Moritz

Package: initscripts
Version: 2.88dsf-13.6
Severity: serious

On GNU/kFreeBSD, /proc/1/root is a real symlink, that is it's not
possible to do a stat on it and compare it to the stat of /.

As a consequence the new initscript postinst is bind mounting /var/run
and /var/lock inside the chroots, causing a lot of issues on the build
daemons.

I think we should stop of having yet another similar but not exactly
version of the code to detect a chroot in a postinst, and that it's time
to find a better solution for that. I am currently writing an ischroot
program that will detect if running in a chroot or not, and I am planning
to submit it as a bug to debianutils. This way if we find a problem, or if
we want to support a new system, there will be only one version to change.

   [ Roger Leigh ]
   * Non-maintainer upload.
   * Correct version check used for reboot notification in initscripts
 postinst.
   * Don't use rm -rf when creating compatibility links in chroots;
use plain rmdir and abort with an error if it fails. This is in
order to avoid removing host data if e.g. /run from the host is
already bind mounted on the chroot /run, which would remove the
contents of the host /run if upgrading initscripts in the chroot.
   * Restore rpcbind/portmap changes from 2.88dsf-13.5.
   * Add restorecon support for selinux using new paths. (Closes: #626725)
Thanks to Martin Orr for this patch.
   * Use new debianutils ischroot program to detect if in a chroot in
the initscripts postinst more reliably. Depend on initscripts
version 4 or greater to ensure ischroot is available.

Bug#627446: libudev0: Can't see any device and mount doesn't work.

2011-05-20 Thread Sérgio Cipolla
Package: libudev0
Version: 168-2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

I'm reporting from another system with udev 168-2 as the one in which it was
upgraded to 169 is borked.
libudev0, libgudev-1.0-0 (from 168-2 to 169-x), libgdu0 (from 2.30.x to 2.32.x)
and grub-pc/grub-common (from 1.99-3 to 1.99-4) were upgraded today.
When booting into the upgraded system udev spit an error right away and there
were a lot of messages about not being able to mount the partitions in fstab
and not being able to create /dev I think.
Also many usage tips for 'mount' were shown.
Then the system drops to single user mode.
I couldn't downgrade anything as /var/cache/apt/archives is in a different
partition than root.
I tried the rescue cd but couldn't fix it.

Attached is the end of /var/log/messages in case it helps.

Bug#627446: libudev0: Can't see any device and mount doesn't work.

2011-05-20 Thread Marco d'Itri
On May 20, Sérgio Cipolla secipo...@gmail.com wrote:

When booting into the upgraded system udev spit an error right away and there
were a lot of messages about not being able to mount the partitions in fstab
and not being able to create /dev I think.

Reporting the error message would probably help a log in getting this
bug fixed.

Debugging early boot

If the system hangs at boot time or fails to boot properly, it may be
useful to examine in real time what is happening while udevadm settle
is running. A simple way to do this is:

* boot the system passing init=/bin/bash on the kernel command line
* start a getty on tty2 (or the serial console) with a command like
  /sbin/getty 38400 tty2
* continue the boot process with exec /sbin/init single

The open console can be used to check which processes are running and
what they are waiting for.

Setting the kernel command line options documented in udevd(8) may also
help to identify system-wide troubles caused by specific kernel drivers.

Bug#624010: Bug Not Fixed

2011-05-20 Thread Christopher Baines
I believe this bug not to be fixed, upon upgrading today from udev
version 168-2 to 169-1 I am now unable to fully boot my Asus Eee Pc, it
uses a encrypted LVM.

I get volume group not found messages, Unable to find LVM volume
messages and various udev error messages.

I am unable however to downgrade udev as I have not access to the usb or
network devices. How can I get access from the rescue shell?

Thanks,

Chris

Could you contact upstream wrt the exact impact? What is
being crashed here, can someone only crash a delivery
thread or can the whole IMAP server be crashed through
malformed mail messages? In the latter case we should
 release a DSA.

It doesn't necessarily crash, just output some garbage, because the
basic problem is that it's reading a buffer past its used size. The
problematic parts are:

1) With mbox format it looks like it could be crashing/corrupting output
whenever reading/saving mails.

2) With non-mbox format there are only IMAP SEARCH and FETCH
HEADER[FIELDS...] commands that can cause crash/corruption.

3) Except with v2.0 if using external dbox attachment storage it can
also cause some crash/corruption.

Originally I was also hoping SMTP servers to drop any NULs in header
names, but looks like at least Postfix happily preserves them.

Bug#621376: Raising severity to serious since libdb4.7-dev removal is planned on 2011-06-14

If you need help with transition or do you want me to take care of it,
please don't hesitate to contact me, I'll be happy to help.

I have a question about transition: The old databases used by squidguard
must be migrated to the new libdb version 4.8 (I think that libdb 5.1 does
not run with squidguard 1.4). How should I initiate this migration in the
updated squidguard package?

This bug is known (#618665 and other reports) and fixed, as you see.
We'll be issuing a security update shortly that will also include the
changes from squeeze-proposed-updates. So all 'squeeze' users should
get the fix then.

Bug#627446: Can't see any device and mount doesn't work.

2011-05-20 Thread Jonathan Ballet
Package: udev
Followup-For: Bug #627446

I have the very same problem as this. I can't see all the messages
displayed at boot time, my screen is too small, but I have at least the
same errors as described above by Sergio.

Hopefully, although the graphic environment couldn't start, I still had
network access. Downgrading udev, libudev and libgudev to 168-2 made the
problem gone.

Is there a way to get those messages spitted by udev or something else
in the early boot process?

Thanks,

 Jonathan

Bug#627487: udev 169-1 fails to create /dev/sda

2011-05-20 Thread Mahesh T. Pai
Package: udev
Version: 167-3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Had upgraded to udev_169-1_amd64.deb yesterday.

System failed to bootup today, and was complaining about inability to
read disk uuids. Found that the kernel recognises the various partitions
on /dev/sda; but does not create the required devfs or whatever.

Right now running udev v. 167-3 and /dev/sda* entries are there. And system
is tootable too - obviously.

So, udev 169-1 is breaking the system.

(ps- I get an error about libuuid not being a symlink while updating the
initramfs;
but I guess that is not related). I was able to boot the system only because
there is a kernel installed outside of apt/dpkg framework, and whose initramfs
was
not upgraded. hmmm... I may be wrong too.
