Bug#630903: Downgrading Fusecompress didn't help me to recover my data ; any solution ?

2011-06-19 Thread Valentin QUEQUET
Package: fusecompress
Followup-For: Bug #630903

Hi,

I used fusecompress/2.6.git913897f4-1 to compress some data.

Unfortunately, I didn't keep the original non-compressed form of the data,
and this same version of fusecompress fails to read the data (neither the
FUSE-based program, or the Offline program).

Both programs fail with the SIGSEGV signal.

So, I downgraded to fusecompress/2.6-4 in ordr to try to read my compressed
data.

Lack of luck, certainly : this previous version of fusecompress fails
miserably too to read the data compressed with fusecompress/2.6.git913897f4-1 .

Both versions fail in the exact same manner ; so no need to provide logs
this time.

Do you think there is a solution for me to recover my data ?

I'm hearing from you eagerly.

Sincerely,
Valentin QUEQUET

Damn it, you’re right. This goes directly against Policy.

Leo, what do you think could be done about this? Since dconf is not a

and maybe also the package name, since it’s confusing for users who look
for GNOME-related packages and stomp on a sysadmin tool.

Geat, could you also try to use

to build that image? This should fix the issue. It also fixes the messed

Bug#630424: Maybe a Problem with tip22

 Hi Guido,

Thanks for testing! I've uploaded a new version to unstable.

I'm not sure what's the correct procedure to get the installer images
rebuilt with that for the next point release though. Can somebody from
debian-boot shed some light on this? I assume it includes uploading a
new arcboot version to stable-proposed-updates but is that enough?

Bug#630608: [bash] Everything Segfaults After lib6 -7 Upgrade

2011-06-19 Thread David Baron
On Sunday 17 Sivan 5771 02:22:46 Jonathan Nieder wrote:
 Hi David,

 David Baron wrote:

Note that there is no root. I have a working /lib with (mostly) testing
libc6 et al packages and lib-sid which has the -7 installed.

So I ran with no $root and listed that /lib-sid

Could you say a little more about this setup? E.g., how do you
arrange for /lib-sid to be used? Is it on a separate partition? How
 do upgrades work?

 [...]

  drwxr-xr-x 3 root root4096 2011-06-15 16:28 i686
  -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 117960 2011-06-13 03:21 ld-2.13.so
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2011-06-13 03:21 ld-linux.so.2 -
  ld-2.13.so

I assume these files are in /lib. They are getting used after the

 upgrade, instead of:
 | lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 2011-06-13 03:21 /lib-sid/ld-linux.so.2 -
 | i386-linux-gnu/ld-2.13.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 2011-01-20 15:52
 | /lib-sid/ld-lsb.so.1 - ld-linux.so.2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13
 | 2011-01-20 15:52 /lib-sid/ld-lsb.so.2 - ld-linux.so.2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root
 | root 13 2011-01-20 15:52 /lib-sid/ld-lsb.so.3 - ld-linux.so.2

So the question above about how /lib-sid is managed is apparently
 very relevant.

 (Side note:

libc6.preinst tries to check for stray ld-*.so files, but I see a
 loophole in that:

   # Binaries owned packages are considered to do the right thing
   if dpkg-query -L libc6 2/dev/null | grep -q $i; then
   continue
   fi

The grep pattern should be anchored and it would be comforting to
 check for diversions.

   if test -z $(dpkg-divert --listpackage $i)
  dpkg-query -L libc6 2/dev/null | grep -q ^$i\$; then
   continue
   fi
 )

I am also attaching my /etc/profile.

Thanks much for that. From the logs you sent, it seems that the

crashing programs are using libc 2.11[*]. I also see:
  # normal path and libraries:
  export
  PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/l
  ocal/bin:/usr/games export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib

Presumably this (LD_LIBRARY_PATH) will explain the difference between
interactive and noninteractive behavior once we understand the
relationship between /lib and /lib-sid a little better.

 Regards,
 Jonathan

Bug#628141: [pkg-dhcp-devel] Bug#628141: reopening 628141

2011-06-19 Thread Tomáš Janoušek
Hello,

On Sat, Jun 18, 2011 at 07:29:39PM -0700, Andrew Pollock wrote:
What exactly is breaking for you with respect to X when the hostname
changes? You get inconsistencies between $DISPLAY and reality, which messes
 up local X11 applications?

No, $DISPLAY is fine, but the auth cookies have hostname in them, and if it's
changed, applications can no longer connect to X. I just tried to change the
hostname on a friend's Ubuntu box, and it did not prevent the apps from
working there, but they said something about being unable to connect to X and
trying session manager instead (and it was slower). As I have no session
manager here (just a window manager), such a workaround is probably
unavailable.

   * Bump standards version to 3.9.2 (no changes needed).
   * Bump minimum required version of jQuery to 1.4.
   * Use python (= 2.6.6-14~) as an alternative build-dependency to
python-simplejson. The latter package is only needed for python2.5, and
 python-defaults 2.6.6-14 doesn't support it anymore.
   * Include jQuery source (closes: #630973).
+ Check at build time if versions of both jQuery copies match.

   * Backport upstream changesets a8b0ef275438 and de340a6098c7 to allow
extraction of function signature from docstring for extension modules.

desirable to have an updated refpolicy ASAP.

For the record, this is what git bisect says:

65cfc6722361570bfe255698d9cd4dccaf47570d is the first bad commit

commit 65cfc6722361570bfe255698d9cd4dccaf47570d
Author: Al Viro v...@zeniv.linux.org.uk
Date: Sun Mar 13 15:56:26 2011 -0400

readlinkat(), fchownat() and fstatat() with empty relative pathnames

For readlinkat() we simply allow empty pathname; it will fail unless
we have dfd equal to O_PATH-opened symlink, so we are outside of
POSIX scope here.  For fchownat() and fstatat() we allow AT_EMPTY_PATH;
let the caller explicitly ask for such behaviour.

Bug#630897: ace: source includes non DFSG-free DDS spec

2011-06-19 Thread Thomas Girard
Hello,

ace_5.7.7.orig.tar.gz includes a non DFSG-free specification .pdf file:
ptc_09-10-26 DDS4CCM v1-0 WCB.pdf

Sam reported bug #63097[1] about this issue, thanks to him for pointing
this out.

ace packages 5.7.7-4 are distributed in Debian stable. The non-free
.pdf is not distributed in the binary packages, and later releases of
the source tarballs no longer include the non-free file (the .pdf is not
included in source packages of Debian unstable).

Should I upload a new ace-dfsg_5.7.7.orig.tar.gz without the pdf file
to s-p-u, and request for its inclusion in the next stable update?

Thanks,
Regards,

Thomas

Hi,

your package fails to build against iceweasel 4.0 (currently in
experimental). iceweasel 5.0 will soon be uploaded to unstable, so
your package needs to be updated to cope with the new version, or
will have to be removed.

Build logs are available at

Bug#631042: weave: FTBFS against iceweasel 4.0 or 5.0

 Hi,

your package fails to build against iceweasel 4.0 (currently in
experimental). iceweasel 5.0 will soon be uploaded to unstable, so
your package needs to be updated to cope with the new version, or
 will have to be removed.

 Build logs are available at
 http://people.debian.org/~glandium/iceweasel4-transition.logs.tbz2

I think we can request RM for this one, because iceweasel 4.0+ includes
it, and iceape 2.1 will, too.

Mike

In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to fix the FTBFS, by doing the
following:

  * debian/rules: added -lboost_system to LDFLAGS to force a fix link with
libboost. This fixes a FTBFS with binutils-gold.

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
ld --no-add-needed. For details, please see:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2011/02/msg00011.html
http://wiki.debian.org/ToolChain/DSOLinking

Ubuntu might have a patch for this issue, but unfortunately it was
not forwarded to Debian. Please have a look at
http://packages.qa.debian.org/btag to see if an Ubuntu version for
this package exists, and if a fix is included in the Ubuntu diff.
