Package: s3ql
Version: 1.0.1-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 6.6(4)

s3ql is impossible to install alongside pcp:

Unpacking s3ql (from .../archives/s3ql_1.0.1-1_all.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/s3ql_1.0.1-1_all.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/share/man/man1/pcp.1.gz', which is also in package
pcp 3.5.2
dpkg-deb: error: subprocess paste was killed by signal (Broken pipe)

I'm directing the BTS to send a copy of this report to pcp's
maintainer as well; however, I feel that the older pcp has a better
claim to the name and as such would recommend that s3ql rename its pcp
script (and corresponding man page) to something along the lines of
parallel-cp or s3ql-pcp.

Could you please look into doing so?

Thanks!

Most likely, this is the part that tries to calculate dependencies on

Bug#632632: libaal-dev: Casts 64 bit integers to int, breaking operations on filesystems with large bitmaps

2011-07-04 Thread Guus Sliepen
Package: libaal-dev
Version: 1.0.5-5
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

In bitops.c, several functions get offsets and sizes with type bit_t, which is
64 bit, but local variables which hold the result of calculations on those
bit_t variables are of type int, which of causes incorrect results for
filesystems with block bitmaps that are larger than 2 GiB. I'm marking this
critical as this causes fsck.reiserfs to work incorrectly on such filesystems,
potentially breaking it beyond repair.

I have attached a patch, but please have a good look at it to see if I did not
miss anything.

Bug#632633: reiser4progs: Casts 64 bit integers to 32 bit, infinite loop in progress bar code

2011-07-04 Thread Guus Sliepen
Package: reiser4progs
Version: 1.0.7-6
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

I found two bugs in fsck.reiserfs, that affect filesystems larger than 16 TiB.
First is an explicit cast of a 64 bit block counter to 32 bit, which causes it
to not work correctly on such large filesystems, the second is that the code
that prints the progress bar can go into an infinite loop (which was triggered
by the bug I reported earlier against libaal-dev), because it
uses while(width--) {...}, but width can start out to be negative. I've
marked this bug critical as the first bug could cause an incorrect repair of
the filesystem, and the second will prevent fsck.reiserfs from running at all.

I have attached a patch which fixes the first issue, and removes the progress
bar completely.

Bug#631048: FTBFS against iceweasel 4.0 or 5.0

 Hi,

your package fails to build against iceweasel 4.0 (currently in
experimental). iceweasel 5.0 will soon be uploaded to unstable, so
your package needs to be updated to cope with the new version, or
 will have to be removed.

 Build logs are available at
 http://people.debian.org/~glandium/iceweasel4-transition.logs.tbz2

I'm planning on a push to unstable of iceweasel/xulrunner 5.0 on the
15th of July. Please update your packages by then.

Mike

If you only upgrade libstrongswan from unstable into squeeze, charon
segfaults at startup, probably because the dependencies aren't tight

(actually in order to test if #626169 is present in 4.4.1 from squeeze I
didn't downgrade it unlike strongswan* and dpkg didn't complain).

Hi,

Lintian is complaining about 2 things in the init file:

E: strongswan-starter: init.d-script-missing-dependency-on-remote_fs
etc/init.d/ipsec: required-start
E: strongswan-starter: init.d-script-missing-dependency-on-remote_fs
etc/init.d/ipsec: required-stop

and

I: strongswan-starter: init.d-script-does-not-provide-itself etc/init.d/ipsec

The attached patch should fix these 2 issues.

PS: I'm not too sure if syslog is used by default, but if so it should
also start/stop $syslog.

Cheers

to rebuild gdcm due to bug #632406 and vtk bug #629815. If they're not fixed
when everything else is ready we will temporarily remove gdcm, necessitating
the removal of ants, insighttoolkit and mriconvert. They will be free to
re-enter testing once the issues are resolved.

So poppler can go ahead.

Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Does FTBFS on a non-core architecture justify a serious severity?

Hi Perl maintainers,
it turns out that CVE-2010-1447 is still missing in Lenny and
Squeeze. It was originally attributed to Postgres, but it
was later found out that Perl is affected as well.

The attached patch is still needed in both Lenny and Squeeze.

Cheers,

Here's a *NASTY* patch which makes gdcm build again. Please let me know

I can not speak for the medical imaging experts who usually care for
this package. However, considering that this issue is blocking other
packages I would consider it apropriate to issue a 0-day NMU. In case
other changes are needed we might fix this in another upload.

Thanks for your work on this

PS: Please try to commit your changes to SVN once you uploaded. The
Debian Med SVN should be writable for any DD. It seems to have
lost this feature in the Alioth migration but I just asked for it
and hope it will be back soonish. Just ping me if it does not
work and I'll apply your changes manually once the source package

[Sebastian Carneiro]
* debian/control: Build dependency on r-cran-vr replaced by r-cran-mass to
  solve conflict in Ubuntu Oneiric.
  Closes: #631141

The changelog says build dependency, but the binary Depends seems to
have been what was changed. I don't know if that was *also* necessary or
not, but 1.2-1-2 won't build on oneiric for the same reason as 1.2-1-1 :)

Package: r-cran-surveillance
Version: 1.2-1-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

On Ubuntu Oneiric this package fails to build from source
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/r-cran-surveillance/+bug/755927).

Despite this, I have tested the package in Debian Sid and Wheezy, and it builds
ok. Nevertheless, this change would make possible for this package to
build successfully in Ubuntu.

I have found a build dependency that is causing the problem: r-cran-vr. I have
replaced it with r-cran-mass (in a previous version, the
latter was replaced by the former, because of missing packages, as stated in
changelog entry for version 1.0.3-2) and now everything builds ok in Debian and
Ubuntu.

I am attaching a patch with this change in debdiff format.

Please let me know if you find anything wrong, that needs correction, or
anything else you would like to comment.

Regards,

Sebastian Carneiro.

Note: see also the FAQ in the source distribution.
It contains workarounds to several common problems.
In particular, if Valgrind aborted or crashed after
identifying problems in your program, there's a good chance
that fixing those problems will prevent Valgrind aborting or
crashing, especially if it happened in m_mallocfree.c.

If that doesn't help, please report this bug to: www.valgrind.org

In the bug report, send all the above text, the valgrind
version, and what OS and version you are using. Thanks.

Bug#632573: serf/experimental: FTBFS (kfreebsd): testsuite failures

2011-07-04 Thread Peter Samuelson

[Christoph Egger]
 There were 7 failures:
 1) test_serf_connection_request_create: ../test/test_context.c:166: expected
 0 but was 22
 2) test_serf_connection_priority_request_create: ../test/test_context.c:265:
 expected 0 but was 22
 3) test_serf_closed_connection: ../test/test_context.c:404: expected 0 but
 was 22
 4) test_serf_setup_proxy: ../test/test_context.c:506: expected 0 but was
 22
 5) test_keepalive_limit_one_by_one: ../test/test_context.c:657: expected 0
 but was 22
 6) test_keepalive_limit_one_by_one_and_burst: ../test/test_context.c:811:
 expected 0 but was 22
 7) test_serf_progress_callback: ../test/test_context.c:933: expected 0 but
 was 22

Thanks - I saw those. serf on Linux was FTBFS in pretty much exactly
the same way until I kludged the testsuite to connect to ip6-localhost
instead of localhost. There was some confusion about trying to use the
'localhost' IP on an IPv6 socket. I don't fully understand it myself.
But if upstream can resolve it at some point, it will probably resolve
this failure too.

Bug#632671: upgrading binutils causes trouble on kfreebsd-amd64

2011-07-04 Thread Christoph Egger
Package: binutils
Version: 2.21.52.20110703-1
Severity: serious

Bug can e.g. be seen when building pdfgrep:

dpkg-shlibdeps: error: couldn't find library libpoppler.so.13 needed by

dpkg-shlibdeps: error: couldn't find library libc.so.0.1 needed by
debian/pdfgrep/usr/bin/pdfgrep (ELF format: 'elf64-x86-64'; RPATH: '').
dpkg-shlibdeps: error: Cannot continue due to the errors listed above.
Note: libraries are not searched in other binary packages that do not have any
shlibs or symbols file.

% /lib/ld-kfreebsd-x86-64.so.1 --verify debian/pdfgrep/usr/bin/pdfgrep
% echo $?
1

after downgrading and rebuilding

% /lib/ld-kfreebsd-x86-64.so.1 --verify debian/pdfgrep/usr/bin/pdfgrep
% echo $?
0

It's perfectly reproducible (happend on the buildd fano and after
upgrading my private vm it is visible there as well)

Regards

 Christoph

There's only one non-release architecture in unstable currently -

Package: freebsd-buildutils
Version: 8.2-4
Severity: grave

Integer parsing is broken in freebsd-make since the switch to libbsd overlay.

From kfreebsd-8 build log [1]:

=== fdc (obj)
/build/buildd-kfreebsd-8_8.2-4-kfreebsd-i386-ti3Zd5/kfreebsd-8-8.2/flavor-8.2-1-486/sys/modules/fdc/Makefile,
 line 22: Unassociated shell command echo #define FDC_DEBUG 1  ${.TARGET}
make: fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue

This is caused by bug #630907, which also affects stdlib.h, which breaks
strtod() call in cond.c.

Package: tzdata
Version: 2009g-0lenny1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

When upgrading from Debian 4 to 5(Lenny) by use of dselect/update/install,
the installation will fail in the middle of the upgrade, leaving the whole
system (possibly unable to reboot, since) only partially upgraded, with
the msg:

tzdata: post-installation failed with error 10;
Package tzdata will remain in an unconfigured state.
There is no way to get around this and to continue the rest of the
upgrade/installation.
I finally managed (before even trying to reboot) to take a look at the
post-installation script,
took a wild guess, removed the file /etc/timezone ( contained only the
word 'Factory' since the year 2000),
then resumed dselect/install and the tzdata configuration continued
successfully, so did the rest of the upgrade.

Today, /etc/timezone is still missing, and honestly, I don't care.
Yours truly

Bug#614669: [SRM] stable/oldstable uploads for vftool CVE-2011-0433

2011-07-04 Thread Jonathan Wiltshire
I recently uploaded an NMU for vftool to fix CVE-2011-0433 in sid
(bug #614669). At the time I notified the maintainer that I would perform
uploads for stable and oldstable and I have not had any response, therefore
the stable patch is attached.

Stable is easy: the same version is present, so the patch is just the same
as for unstable.

In oldstable, you have a choice of whether to include the changes in -4 or
not. They fix a FTBFS (which I could not reproduce in a lenny chroot) but
are not strictly necessary to fix the CVE. I will prepare uploads
according to your preference.

Thanks.

getline(). On that basis, please only include the security-related
changes for oldstable.

 Hi Andreas (2011.06.20_23:16:24_+0200)

   .
 [Sebastian Carneiro]
 * debian/control: Build dependency on r-cran-vr replaced by r-cran-mass
  to
   solve conflict in Ubuntu Oneiric.
   Closes: #631141

The changelog says build dependency, but the binary Depends seems to
have been what was changed. I don't know if that was *also* necessary or
not, but 1.2-1-2 won't build on oneiric for the same reason as 1.2-1-1 :)

Hello Stefano,

note that the real reason underlying the build failures related to r-cran-vr,
is probably that in Ubuntu r-cran-vr has not been removed from the archive
after r-cran-mass took over its contents, as it was done in Debian. Or that
the build daemon's resolver does not manage to take into account that
r-cran-mass Replaces/Provides/Conflicts with r-cran-vr.

Have a nice day,

I have no idea how or why this failed, but (a) I always only upload
32-bit i386 packages, and so the original 1.41.12 deb was built using
the autobuilder, (b) we definitely are #including errno.h in parse.c.,
(c) I uploaded a 32-bit binaries for 1.41.12-4stable1, and according to:

http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/libss2

it looks pretty clear that amd64 (as far as all other architectures)
built w/o problems.

So I'm going to declare this problem fixed in 1.41.12-4stable1. I'm
pretty sure it was fine in 1.41.12-4 (since as I said the amd64 debs
were originally built using the Debian pbuilder systems; I only upload
i386 binaries), but it's not worth trying to debug how or why it
failed when you tried to do the rebuild.

Hi,

Your package gives this warning when build using openssl 1.0.0:
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: symbol SSLv2_server_method used by
debian/libneon27/usr/lib/libneon.so.27.2.5 found in none of the libraries.

SSLv2 support got disabled and the related SSLv2_* method's got
removed. Since you still seem to be using that symbol even
when both the header and the library doesn't provide it anymore,
it's likely this will result in a runtime error instead of a
compile time error.

You can check that SSLv2 support has been disabled by checking
for the OPENSSL_NO_SSL2 define. But I suggest you just remove
SSLv2 support.

Kurt

Bug#632698: iceweasel has configuration data in /usr/share that should be in /etc (and not /etc override)

2011-07-04 Thread Daniel Dickinson
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.5.19-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Violates the FHS

/usr/share/iceweasel/searchplugins has the default search engines for the
search box in the upper right of the browser windows. Unfortunately there is
no merging with /etc like with preferences that would allow a site
administrator to add a new default search plugin without putting the plugin xml
in /usr/share/iceweasel/searchplugins. That means there is configuration data
in /usr/share instead of /etc which is a violation of the FHS and therefore
Debian Policy.

Except for the the fact that it's a violation of policy it's not a critical
issue (i.e. I won't get cranky if you determine that I'm wrong about the
policy).

Bug#614669: [SRM] stable/oldstable uploads for vftool CVE-2011-0433

2011-07-04 Thread Atsuhito Kohda
Dear Jonathan,

On Mon, 4 Jul 2011 21:13:58 +0100, Jonathan Wiltshire wrote:

Sorry for delay. Thank you very much for your work.
At present, I don' have a time and so can do nothing.

Thanks again for your great contribution.

Best regards, 2011-7-5(Tue)
