My mistake. GCC_VERSION wasn't correctly set. Need to check the spu build before
upload.

In theory, the symlink shouldn't be necessary anymore once the packages are
based on -15.

This is a reincarnation of #593898, when the number of arguments exceeds
512. The attached test program demonstrates the problem:

$ make
$ i=0; d=0; while test $i -eq 0; do for d in `expr $((d + 1))`; do \
./obj/test `seq $d`; i=$?; done; done
Arguments given: 1
Arguments given: 2
...
Arguments given: 512
Error: for some reason, argv not properly set up during GNUstep base
initialization

The condition which leads to the error is

  if (argv != 0 && argv[0] != 0)

which for some bizarre reason is false in this case. It's either a
kernel bug or limitation, I hope the GNU/kFreeBSD people have some clue?
There's nothing wrong in the gnustep-base code...

The only way I see as a workaround is to build gnustep-base with
--enable-fake-main, which is already the case on a number of *BSD
systems. However, this change is ABI-incompatible so all GNUstep
packages must be binNMUed _again_ on kfreebsd*. Is this acceptable for
the release team?
#import

int
main (int argc, char **argv)
{
  CREATE_AUTORELEASE_POOL (pool);
  NSProcessInfo *procinfo = [NSProcessInfo processInfo];
  NSArray *args = [procinfo arguments];
  printf ("Arguments given: %d\n", [args count]);

The source code claims to be copyright by several of the upstream authors, but
the source code itself doesn't have these copyright claims anyway. The
sourcecode claims to be held by the the PHP Group. Please update
debian/copyright.

As I assume you know, since you have an override for the lintian error, there
are questions about the distributability of code under php 2.x licenses for
software which is not part of PHP itself. Since the upstream homepage [1] now
seems to claim that this is distributable under the php 3.01 license, lets
update debian/copyright to reflect that;

Bug#628237: libsasl2-2 breaks auxprop ABI without bumping soname

2011-10-10 Thread Steve Langasek
reassign 628237 cyrus-sasl2
found 628237 2.1.24~rc1.dfsg1+cvs2011-05-23-2
thanks

Dear maintainers,

Bug #628237 was filed some time ago against the openldap package because the
new upstream version of cyrus-sasl2 that was introduced into Debian in May
breaks the ABI for auxprop plugins without bumping the library soname. This
is not an appropriate way to manage shared library ABIs.

Discussion on bug #628237 in July suggested that 2.1.24 might still be under
development, and that it might be possible to get the soname fixed upstream
before release. However, it seems that in the meantime there have been two
new upstream releases and we now have 2.1.25 in unstable, so we're probably
stuck with this ABI now.

That means the Debian maintainers will need to clean up this upstream mess,
by one of the following methods:

  - changing the soname locally in Debian
  - changing the library package name to include a Debian suffix while
leaving the soname alone (and declaring a Conflicts with libsasl2-2)
  - leaving the libsasl2-2 package name alone and declaring a versioned
Breaks: on packages in the archive which provide auxprop methods and are
built against the old ABI.

The third solution is probably the one that will cause the least knock-on
problems. For slapd, you can use 2.4.25-1.1 as the minimum fixed version
(i.e., Breaks: slapd (<< 2.4.25-1.1)).

Thanks, though it turns out this isn't all that useful as it's against
2.9 and doesn't apply cleanly to 2.8.

I've written a simple two line patch which just adds the multiarch lib
directories to SEARCH_LIB, which is sufficient for the debian packaging,
and probably less likely to accidentally introduce problems than trying to
adapt the patch from trac.

Upload coming once I've dug through the rest of the wx bug mountain.

Cheers,
Olly

Source: wxwidgets2.8
Version: 2.8.10.1-3
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

In wxPython/distrib/msw/ subdirectory, there's a bunch of DLL files.
AFAICT, they are:

- copyrighted by Microsoft Corp.,
- not accompanied by source,
- non-free (perhaps even undistributable).

Package: wxwidgets2.8
Version: 2.8.10.1-3.1
Severity: serious

- wxwidgets2.8 build depends on both libjpeg62-dev and libtiff4-dev
- libtiff4-dev depends on libjpeg-dev
- libjpeg-dev is now provided by libjpeg8-dev
- libjpeg8-dev conflicts with libjpeg62-dev

The fix is obvious (changing the build-dependency to libjpeg-dev).

Now that's why it somehow looked familiar! I even debugged it the same way
like back then. :-)

Strange that I didn't find that bug when googling for that error
message.

The fix from back then doesn't help again respectively anymore?

Maybe you forgot the Cc to debian-release@l.d.o in your mail...

This doesn't allow code injection. Let's stack it up until a more severe
issue arises in libxml2. (Alternative we can fix it in a point update)

The full build log is available from:
   http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2011/09/23/gksu_2.0.2-5_lsid64.buildlog

This happened because since dpkg 1.16.0 [0], hardening flags are enabled
under various conditions.

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot. Internet was not
accessible from the build systems.

Hi, I think we've got our wires crossed here. I'm not sure where you got
powerpcspe from this email. This build failure is for a native build of
an amd64 "gcc-4.6" on an amd64 system (See the "x86_64-linux-gnu" paths).

Furthermore, the gcc-defaults package just installs a bunch of symlinks
and a few shell scripts on the system. I fail to see how that could
"fix" an incorrect search path compiled into the temporary "xgcc" binary
during the gcc-4.6 build process.

Can you explain what you mean by "fixed in 1.108"?

Cheers,
Kyle Moffett

it's an upgrade error, fixed in the gcc-multilib postinst (gcc-defaults 1.108).

Ok, I just installed the latest versions of all the gcc-* packages from
unstable and now I have the following symlink:
  /usr/include/asm => x86_64-linux-gnu/asm.

Seems to be a bug in matplotlib; in any case it no longer fails to build,
so closing.

Bug#644064: ocfs2-tools errors with -Werror=format-security

2011-10-10 Thread Jeremy Lainé
Hi,

I have put together a patch (attached) which fixes all the warnings, except for
one on which I would need some help. The relevant information is here:

http://oss.oracle.com/pipermail/ocfs2-tools-devel/2011-October/004008.html

It's basically a case where custom printf handlers are registered, and a
non-litteral format (user supplied, but escaped so as to avoid standard format
specifiers) is being passed to fprintf like this:

fprintf(stdout, fmt);

Is there any way to inhibit the warning for this specific line? Or will I end
up having to compile the whole package with -Wno-format-nonliteral ?

Thanks in advance for any pointers,
Jeremy

The full build log is available from:

http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2011/09/23/gnome-launch-box_0.2-1.1_lsid64.buildlog

This happened because since dpkg 1.16.0 [0], hardening flags are enabled
under various conditions.

Are there really that many people doing that? And who can't replace
"-lncurses" with "pkg-config --static --libs ncurses"?

Bug#644930: bad LANG env crashes gnucash on File->New account

2011-10-10 Thread debbug
Package: gnucash
Version: 1:2.4.7-3+b1
Severity: serious
Tags: l10n

Problem description:
Using "export LANG=de_DE; gnucash" to start gnucash. gnucash crashes upon
  Selecting "File -> New account".
Same valid for de_DE@UTF-8 maybe others as well.
export LANG=de_DE.UTF-8; gnucash however works as intended.

Further problem properties:

  - gnucash devs at #gnucash hint this might be related to libc or gtk.

Apparently, there are more problems than -fgcse. "gcc-4.6 -fno-gcse"
still fails whereas "gcc-4.4 -fno-gcse" doesn't.

I've downgraded the dependency to get a working kernel. Before we
upgrade, I think we could use experimental as testing ground to
resolve the problems. It's very bad that this kind of bugs reaches
wheezy.

The main problem is that we do not know whether gcc-4.x
miscompiles kernel or kernel is not properly coded.

The -no-gcse only lowers optimization level.
It does not fail on my real -amd64 HW neither -i386 inside kvm.

This is very likely a duplicate of Debian bugs #616150 and #634091,
which is IMHO a bug in the gtk+2.0 package.

If you want you can try my patch for gtk+2.0 that I've posted here:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=57;filename=fix_null_pointer_segfault.patch;att=2;bug=616150

If you can confirm that this patch fixes your problem, I'll merge this
bug with the other two bugs.

Micha

Apparently not, since I could not find many complaints about Fedora's
ncurses-static package which have the same problem as we do.

> And who can't replace
> "-lncurses" with "pkg-config --static --libs ncurses"?

People who are running other people's `configure' scripts may have some
trouble doing that (not everybody knows autoconf/automake). And
pkg-config support in ncurses is relatively new, it was added shortly
after the 5.7 release.

But probably we can live with that, it seems.

Cheers,
   Sven

Package: kfreebsd-image-8.2-1-686

Severity: grave

On my main workstation, kfreebsd 8.2-1.1 and later versions CPU-faults
early on boot. This affects the i686 version only (not amd64 one).

Playing "/tmp/minitube-pkern.mp4"

This allows a hostile user to overwrite any file the user controls with YouTube
content. Bad. /tmp is world-writeable and must not be used with predictable
filenames. Instead you need to employ secure temporary file creation.

As this bug is ageing quite nicely I've taken the liberty of uploading
Jordi's package with the additional patch folded in to security-master.

The changelog:

torque (2.4.8+dfsg-9squeeze1) squeeze-security; urgency=low

  [ Jordi Mallach ]
  * [CVE_2011_2193]: Fix two potential buffer overflows:
jobid length and hostname length weren't properly checked,
and these both allow segfaults/buffer overflow attacks within
the code.
  * Update Vcs-* fields to point to the new squeeze branch.

  [ Jonathan Wiltshire ]
  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * buffer_overflow_in_checkpoint_c.patch: Fix a potential buffer
overflow problem in mom_checkpoint_recover

It has had only limited testing because I don't have the resources
available for a thorough test.

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on

The full build log is available from:

http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2011/09/23/libjrosetta-java_1.0.2+gpl-4_lsid64.buildlog

This is probably due to the multiarch'ification of openjdk. Please coordinate
with debian-j...@lists.debian.org.

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot. Internet was not
accessible from the build systems.

I encountered the same error as Jonas when using pbuilder on i386
(with amd64 kernel) to build a backport for amd64.

I applied your patch and the build completed nicely.

Hi Tanguy,

the backported patch in the oldstable update for DokuWiki is
incomplete and contains a reference to a function getSchemes which is
not yet existent in the oldstable version of DokuWiki.

Hence all wiki pages with an external link in it now bail out with the

Hi,

currently guile does not compile on hurd-i386. The problem is the
-Werror in configure.in for gcc-4.6. The attached patch fixes
this issue and does also solve the general case in bug #625355.

Thanks,
Svante

This package builds with -Werror, and GCC 4.6 triggers new warnings
which will make the package fail to build. Currently a Debian patch
just passes
-Wno-error=unused-but-set-variable and
-Wno-error=unused-but-set-parameter
to avoid build failures, but this patch will be reverted with the
GCC 4.6.1 release, and the severity of the report will be raised.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/tmp/werror/guile-1.8_1.8.8+1-2_lsid64.buildlog
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

Bug#644786: qcad documentation and fonts are non free

2011-10-10 Thread Scott Howard
I'm acking this bug. I'll be uploading a qcad source package removing
it from unstable and recommending librecad because of this and bug:
604595

I'll also move to remove qcad-doc from stable/testing distributions.

Lisandro, just confirming - upstream says the fonts are non-free too,
is that correct?

If so, we'll need need to remove the qcad package as well.

Hi! Tha package librecad currently in testing (1.0.0~rc1+nolibs-4)
contains non-free docs and fonts.

I just uploaded a new version to unstable wich corrects this,
but I think it would be good to remove the version in testing.

Kinds regards, Lisandro.

Package: kfreebsd-image-8.2-1-686
Version: 8.2-1.1
Severity: grave

On my main workstation, kfreebsd 8.2-1.1 and later versions CPU-faults
early on boot. This affects the i686 version only (not amd64 one).

8.2-1 is not affected.

Bug#644957: libreoffice-base: Base runs extremely slowly

2011-10-10 Thread John Talbut

Package: libreoffice-base
Version: 1:3.4.3-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I have reported this issue against openjdk-6-jre,
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=641537 . However the
problem is even worse in LibreOffice 3.4.3-3 using openjdk-7-jre. It
has been reported upstream as
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35023 and marked not their
problem on the basis that base works OK with earlier versions of Java.
However, until it can be identified what the change is in Java that has
affected base it cannot be clear whether it is LibreOffice or a Java
problem.
