Package: kfreebsd-9
Version: 9.0~svn225873
Severity: important

Hi,

Typical kfreebsd-amd64 experimental system. When I try to use cupt
update after booting with kfreebsd 9, it always fails:

E: unable to bind server socket to file '/tmp/cuptyL8GPC': Invalid
argument
E: error performing command 'update'

By contrast, kfreebsd-image-8.2-1-amd64 8.2-8+gcc45 works fine.

Trying to track this down, I tried the example from the bind(2)
manpage (from manpages-dev 3.32-0.2), with MY_SOCK_PATH set to
/tmp/somepath so it wouldn't require root permissions. Same story
there --- the 8.2 kernel works fine, while kfreebsd 9 gives me

bind: Invalid argument

For reference, the installed libc0.1 is 2.13-21. Anyway, thought you
might like to know.

Regards,
Jonathan

Seems to be fixed, or at least sufficiently worked around. :) Thanks
to everyone who worked on this.

Bug#646999: Crashes without strict gir1.2-mutter-3.0 dependency

2011-10-29 Thread Jan Hauke Rahm
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.2.1-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

gnome-shell, as it is in experimental right now, crashes showing this
error:

,
| JS ERROR: !!! Exception was: TypeError: Meta.BackgroundActor is
undefined
| JS ERROR: !!! lineNumber = '124'
| JS ERROR: !!! fileName = '/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/overview.js'
| JS ERROR: !!! stack = '([object
Object])@/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/overview.js:124
| Overview([object Object])@/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/overview.js:101
| start()@/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/main.js:210
| @main:1
| '
| Window manager warning: Log level 32: Execution of main.js threw exception:
TypeError: Meta.BackgroundActor is undefined
`

Upgrading gir1.2-mutter-3.0 to 3.2.1-1 (current experimental) fixes the
problem. Thus, it's probably just a dependency issue.

Hauke

 Hi,

since 1:1.19.2-1, line breaks, date, hostname, log entry type and
severity are missing in logread's output.

This is fixed upstream in current patch queue for 1.19.3, see

I'll upload fixed version shortly.

Thanks,

It should look like this (missing parts manually added, partially with

Hum, please find attached a new 06-use-libgnome-headers.patch, to

Let me know if it's working, I can prepare a proper NMU tomorrow for this.
Doesn't build. You need also to include libgnome/libgnome.h and even
 with that gnome-alsamixer still crash.
 Seems to work on Ubuntu.

Seems ?

You can find the complete package on

2011-10-29 Thread Adam D. Barratt

Hi,

vpb-driver (and thus libvpb0) was removed on s390 (see #644051). This
means that asterisk-modules is now uninstallable on that architecture in
unstable (and by extension asterisk).

I stepped away from Panflute development back in March since I didn't
see much of a role for it in a GNOME 3 world, and no one has stepped up
to take it over since then, so it's safe to say the project is largely

Package: dockbarx
Version: 0.45-3
Severity: important
User: pkg-gnome-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: applets-transition

Hi,

this package currently depends on python-gnomeapplet - most likely
because it provides an applet for the GNOME panel.

The introduction of gnome-panel 3.0 to unstable is imminent. In this
version, the panel-applet library has undergone large changes, and
dockbarx requires changes to support this version:
 * updating to the D-Bus activation mechanism
 * porting to GTK+ 3
 * porting from PyGTK to the GObject Introspection mechanism

You might want to check if upstream developers provide a new version,
compatible with gnome-panel 3.x. Otherwise, porting is a feasible task
if you have a few hours to spare. If you feel like it, the following
guides should help you:
 * http://live.gnome.org/PyGObject/IntrospectionPorting
 * http://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/gtk-migrating-2-to-3.html
 * http://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/AppletsDbusMigration

For packages that provide other functionality than the GNOME applet,
you can simply disable it in the build and remove the dependency if
it hasn’t been ported.

For pure applets packages, you should ask for removal from the
archive if you do not intend to port it to the new interface. Such
packages that have not been ported when gnome-panel is ready to
migrate will be kicked out of testing.

Cheers,

 Hello Miles,

I just wanted to let you know that Debian bug #623882 was closed by a

Is this really fixed?

I ask because I still can see some warnings or errors when ca-certificates-java

I’m sorry, but I cannot reproduce this bug at all. I tried with tk8.4
and tk8.5, and it works with both.

It turns out I do not even understand the error messages, as I have no
grasp of Tcl/Tk.

Bye,

Doesn't build. You need also to include libgnome/libgnome.h and even
 with that gnome-alsamixer still crash.
Seems to work on Ubuntu.
You can find the complete package on

I don't have a Debian box to test right now, I can't investigate more
for now.

Hi,

Several security issues were announced in Django:
https://www.djangoproject.com/weblog/2011/sep/09/security-releases-issued/
and a regression fix was later posted:
https://www.djangoproject.com/weblog/2011/sep/10/127/

Can you please ensure that unstable is fixed for these issues, and analyse
whether updates to stable and oldstable security are necessary?

CVE id's are not assigned yet at this point, but there's no need to wait
for them to continue.

Thanks,
Thijs

Hi,

Several security issues were announced in Django:
https://www.djangoproject.com/weblog/2011/sep/09/security-releases-issued/
and a regression fix was later posted:
https://www.djangoproject.com/weblog/2011/sep/10/127/

Can you please ensure that unstable is fixed for these issues, and analyse
whether updates to stable and oldstable security are necessary?

CVE id's are not assigned yet at this point, but there's no need to wait
for them to continue.

Thanks,
Thijs

Unfortunately upstream has no interest in porting the extension to gtk

Package: kfreebsd-image-8.1-1-amd64
Version: 8.1-5
Severity: serious
Justification: violates MUST directive of Debian Policy 9.8

Hello,

it seems that roles of -- and Delete keys are somewhat reversed in the VTs of
kFreeBSD. I was not able to get Delete key to delete the character to the
right of the cursor (citing chapter 9.8 of Debian Policy). It always deletes
the character to the left of the cursor. -- deletes the char to the right in
vim (i.e. it acts like Delete should), but it behaves properly in the shell
prompt.

I reported this bug as RC because it clearly violates must of Debian policy
chapter 9.8 . It's also very annoying and breaks uniform feel of Debian on
kFreeBSD.

I reported a bug against kfreebsd kernel because I believe this bug lies
somewhere in tty/consio/syscons subsystems. However, I guess it would be
possible to adjust keymaps instead.

P.S. It was a huge pain to write this bug report in VT of kfbsd because of this
problem.

P.S. It was a huge pain to write this bug report in VT of kfbsd because of this
problem.

This package builds with -Werror, and GCC 4.6 triggers new warnings
which will make the package fail to build. Currently a Debian patch
just passes
-Wno-error=unused-but-set-variable and
-Wno-error=unused-but-set-parameter
to avoid build failures, but this patch will be reverted with the
GCC 4.6.1 release, and the severity of the report will be raised.

Hi,

this package currently depends on python-nautilus - most likely because
it provides an extension for the nautilus file manager.

The introduction of nautilus 3 to unstable is imminent. In this version,
the extensions interface has changed, and tortoisehg-nautilus
requires changes to support this version:
 * porting to GTK+ 3
 * porting from PyGTK to the GObject Introspection mechanism

You might want to check if upstream developers provide a new version,
compatible with nautilus 3.x. Otherwise, porting is a feasible task if
you have a few hours to spare. If you feel like it, the following guides
should help you:
 * http://live.gnome.org/PyGObject/IntrospectionPorting
 * http://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/gtk-migrating-2-to-3.html

nautilus 3 packages are available from experimental. Please update and
test your package against this version and ideally upload it to
experimental, too.

Packages that remain unported will have to be removed from testing
eventually.

Cheers,

thanks.

Doko's report is a false positive. The files that generate the warnings
in question are not built using -Werror.

However while testing to confirm that it was a false positive I
discovered that tuxpuck was unbuildable in current sid for another
reason. tuxpuck build-depends on both libjpeg62-dev and libsdl1.2-dev.
Since libsdl1.2-dev now depends on libjpeg8-dev this renders the build
dependencies uninstallable. The fix is to change the libjpeg62-dev
build-dependency to libjpeg8-dev.

Bug#625411: tla: I can't reproduce this bug

2011-10-29 Thread peter green

Note: i'm just doing flyby investigation of rc bugs. I have no relationship to
either doko or this package.

This package is building ok for me.

Same here

Having looked through a number of these bugs I get the impression that doko was a
bit careless when doing his mass bug filing. Most are real issues but this is not
the first false positive i've come across and he didn't even seem to proofread
the messages (they end with The last lines of the build log are at the end of this
report. but no such lines are present in this report and several others.

I personally think a bug like this can simply be closed.

Maybe I'm missing something or we can close this bug?

If you want to ask the submitter questions you need to actually send the message
to them. nnn...@bugs.debian.org does not go to the submitter. You need to either

Bug#638086: hardware-monitor

2011-10-29 Thread Ari Pollak
I might get to this eventually, but I don't have the time in the immediate
future to do this transition, and upstream doesn't seem to have touched it. So
for the time being, it probably just makes sense to remove it from testing.
