Bug#649051: aufs-tools: Fail kernel check on building environment
severity 649051 normal retitle 649051 bump kernel build-depends tag 649051 patch thanks On 11/17/2011 06:51 AM, Nobuhiro Iwamatsu wrote: aufs-tools FTBFS on all architecture. first, aufs-tools needs matching aufs in the kernel to properly work, therefore, the check in general is a good thing, and i'd prefere not removing it so we can avoid having non-working-but-buildable aufs-tools in the archive by accident. at the time i've uploaded aufs-tools 3.0, the fixed kernel images just entered the archive (see #644687), so the buildds didn't yet took it up. by now, a binNMU would be enough to make it build on all arches. the reason that this didn't happen automatically is also caused by the fact that i've accidentally used a too relaxed build-depends on linux-libc-dev, so that the buildds that didn't have the correct version yet didn't retry later and were satisfied with the older, non-working kernels. in order to get this fixed, rather than a binNMU, i'm uploading a new revision (with fixed linux-libc-dev depends, and while we are at it, with newer upstream anyway). But thanks for the work anyway, it's nevertheless appreciated. Bug#642640: libaws: FTBFS: unsatisfiable build-dependencies
Le jeudi, 17 novembre 2011 10.22:51, Ludovic Brenta a écrit : Didier Raboud wrote: two months later, what is the status of this transition ? Not started yet, I've been working on other packages. Your mail prompted me to send a full status report to debian-ada@l.d.o, see http://lists.debian.org/debian-ada/2011/11/msg2.html Great. Are the packages going to be migrated to unversionned gnat versions or should NMUers go to versionned gnat-4.6 ? Per Debian Policy for Ada, all Ada source packages must build-depend on both gnat gnat gnat-4.6. The reasons are explained in there: http://people.debian.org/~lbrenta/debian-ada-policy.html Why on both? This seems to just make transitions more painful (to you)… Why not at least alternatives (aka B-D: gnat-4.6 | gnat ), or simply not- versioned (aka B-D: gnat). Any Debian suite has one available gnat at any given time (per the above policy), no ? The same goes for binary packages depends. Anyway; I don't intend to stand in your path; I was mostly interested in getting those RC bugs fixed. As long as they get fixed before the freeze (or the given packages removed from testing), I'm fine. :- Cheers, -- OdyX signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Bug#649069: tclcl-dev and libtclcl1-dev: error when trying to install together
On Thu, Nov 17, 2011 at 06:39:54PM +0800, YunQiang Su wrote: libtclcl1-dev is the new name of tclcl-dev, as tclcl has shared library now. Mark libtclcl1-dev replace and provide tclcl-dev ? I do not know the package (I discovered the bug by an automated test), but the right solution in cases like this is usually to replace, provide, and also to conflict with tclcl-dev. Should I request ftp-master to remove tclcl-dev or waiting for its auto removing? Please ask for removal once you have checked that noone else depends on tclcl-dev, or if your new package provides the old one. -Ralf. -- Ralf Treinen Laboratoire Preuves, Programmes et Systèmes Université Paris Diderot, Paris, France. http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~treinen/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. So what's the deal here - how come ircd-ratbox and oftc-hybrid do not have the same error on their side? Would it be sufficient to mark charybdis as Conflicts: ircd? or would we need to explicitely list the packages? Bug#648937: doc-base: trigger fails when Locale::gettext is broken due to perl upgrade
On Thu, Nov 17, 2011 at 09:02:55AM +, Colin Watson wrote: On Wed, Nov 16, 2011 at 10:33:45AM +0100, Raphaël Hertzog wrote: Traitement des actions différées (« triggers ») pour « doc-base »... /usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/perl5/auto/Locale/gettext/gettext.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Gthr_key_ptr dpkg : erreur de traitement de doc-base (--triggers-only) : le sous-processus script post-installation installé a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 127 A similar problem bites doc-base's use of libuuid-perl. See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/doc-base/+bug/891257 Indeed, I have established that PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 is not a sufficient fix for this problem in the case of libuuid-perl, because it doesn't have any fallback code for that module being non-importable. It was quite difficult to set up a suitable reproduction environment, but what I did was as follows: 1) Install an Ubuntu oneiric chroot with the addition of the doc-base, rarian-compat, and libsignatures-perl packages. (Remember to divert /sbin/initctl and replace it with a symlink to /bin/true.) 2) 'dpkg-divert --rename /usr/bin/dpkg', and replace /usr/bin/dpkg with the following script: #! /bin/sh set -e if grep -q 'perl-base.*5\.14' /var/log/dpkg.log; then sleep 3600 || true fi exec dpkg.distrib $@ 3) Replace 'oneiric' with 'precise' in /etc/apt/sources.list and run 'apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade'. 4) The upgrade should pause immediately after perl-base is configured. When this happens, start a different shell in the same chroot (don't suspend the one running apt-get) and run 'PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 install-docs --install-changed'. # install-docs --install-changed /usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/perl5/auto/Locale/gettext/gettext.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Gthr_key_ptr # PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 install-docs --install-changed Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/auto/UUID/UUID.so' for module UUID: /usr/lib/perl5/auto/UUID/UUID.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Imarkstack_ptr_ptr at /usr/lib/perl/5.14/DynaLoader.pm line 184. at /usr/share/perl5/Debian/DocBase/Programs/Scrollkeeper.pm line 21 Compilation failed in require at /usr/share/perl5/Debian/DocBase/Programs/Scrollkeeper.pm line 21. I think perl-base would then have to bump its versioned Breaks on doc-base to force this new version to be installed? The extra dependency on uuid-runtime is unfortunate, but necessary with this approach (and calling out to uuidgen probably is slower with lots of documents, so it's worthwhile trying to work in-process if possible). I tested on fluxbox which is my main window manager, tried openbox too. Here is a link I posted. http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6t=71950 The solution I found was to replace the PS/2 mouse with a USB mouse. -- Package-specific info: ** Kernel log: boot messages should be attached ** Model information sys_vendor: Acer product_name: Aspire M1200 product_version: chassis_vendor: Acer chassis_version: 1.0 bios_vendor: American Megatrends Inc. bios_version: R03-B3 board_vendor: Acer board_name: RS740DVF board_version: ** PCI devices: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: ATI Technologies Inc RS690 Host Bridge [1002:7911] Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device [1025:0155] Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap- 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium TAbort- TAbort- MAbort+ SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: ATI Technologies Inc RS690 PCI to PCI Bridge (Internal gfx) [1002:7912] (prog-if 00 [Normal decode]) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 64 Bus: primary=00, secondary=01, subordinate=01, sec-latency=64 I/O behind bridge: c000-cfff Memory behind bridge: fe70-fe8f Prefetchable memory behind bridge: d000-dfff Secondary status: 66MHz+ FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- BridgeCtl: Parity- SERR+ NoISA- VGA+ MAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Capabilities: access denied 00:05.0 PCI bridge [0604]: ATI Technologies Inc RS690 PCI to PCI Bridge (PCI Express Port 1) [1002:7915] (prog-if 00 [Normal decode]) Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes Bus: primary=00, secondary=02, subordinate=02, sec-latency=0 I/O behind bridge: d000-dfff Memory behind bridge: fe90-fe9f Secondary status: 66MHz- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- BridgeCtl: Parity+ SERR+ NoISA- VGA- MAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Capabilities: access denied Kernel driver in use: pcieport 00:06.0 PCI bridge [0604]: ATI Technologies Inc RS690 PCI to PCI Bridge (PCI Express Port 2) [1002:7916] (prog-if 00 [Normal decode]) Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx+ Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes Bus: primary=00, secondary=03, subordinate=03, sec-latency=0 Memory behind bridge: fea0-feaf Secondary status: 66MHz- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort+ SERR- PERR- BridgeCtl: Parity+ SERR+ NoISA- VGA- MAbort- Reset- FastB2B- PriDiscTmr- SecDiscTmr- DiscTmrStat- DiscTmrSERREn- Capabilities: access denied Kernel driver in use: pcieport 00:11.0 SATA controller [0106]: ATI Technologies Inc SB700/SB800 SATA Controller [IDE mode] [1002:4390] (prog-if 01 [AHCI 1.0]) Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device [1025:0155] Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz+ UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 64, Cache Line Size: 64 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 43 Region 0: I/O ports at b000 [size=8] Region 1: I/O ports at a000

Bug#649099: BIND 9 Resolver crashes after logging an error in query.c

reassign 649070 charybdis bye Quoting Ralf Treinen trei...@debian.org: Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages (according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be slightly out of sync): /usr/lib/libratbox.so Charybdis is based on Ratbox, but the code has quite probably diverged, and upstream authors should probably have renamed the library. As it borrows things from Ratbox, the Conflicts line is clearly to be set on this package, which is sufficient to solve the problem. I've renamed all commands and manpages in ircd-ratbox to avoid such conflicts with names commonly used by ircds to avoid problems like #649071, but there's nothing i can do in this case, which clearly should not happen. I just don't want to maintain a list of child projects to follow, while the knowledge of such incompatibilities is clearly in these projects, that's why i won't add a Conflicts on the ircd-ratbox side. There have been quite some changes in the ecasound package itself. They happened just before the libaudio-ecasound-perl v1.01-2 upload. I think that's why it used to build on corelli but now it doesn't anymore. It's just a wild guess though, maybe contacting the mips people may shed some light on this. Bug#648937: doc-base: trigger fails when Locale::gettext is broken due to perl upgrade
Hi, # PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 install-docs --install-changed Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/auto/UUID/UUID.so' for module UUID: /usr/lib/perl5/auto/UUID/UUID.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Imarkstack_ptr_ptr at /usr/lib/perl/5.14/DynaLoader.pm line 184. at /usr/share/perl5/Debian/DocBase/Programs/Scrollkeeper.pm line 21 Compilation failed in require at /usr/share/perl5/Debian/DocBase/Programs/Scrollkeeper.pm line 21. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/perl5/Debian/DocBase/Programs/Scrollkeeper.pm line 21. As you can see the message here is different than the one in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/doc-base/+bug/891257 The UUID module is imported by Debian::DocBase::Programs::Scrollkeeper inside eval block (see http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=users/robert/doc-base.git;a=blob;f=install-docs.in;hb=198fa3f3e55f8d82e2807d986f50e5a699ddd1d3#l28) If the eval block fails, install-docs creates a special /var/lib/doc-base/info/FORCE-REREGISTER.flag file, and exits with error code 0 so it should not affect upgrades. The existance of the file should cause install-docs to re-register all documents next time install-docs is called. The message you saw if printed by 'warn $@ if $@;'. It might be a bit misleading to users, I'm thinking about changing it in the way that make it obvious that it's not a real error message. The extra dependency on uuid-runtime is unfortunate, but necessary with this approach (and calling out to uuidgen probably is slower with lots scrollkeeper-gen-seriesid from rarian-compat can be used instead. doc-base already suggests rarian-compat and won't call GenUUID() in case the package is not installed. However the issue is that doc-base doesn't work with rarian-compat at all (see #546208), so maybe dropping support for it from doc-base would be a better option than trying to ensure the DocBase::Scrollkeeper module remains usable on perl upgrades. Norbert Preining writes: Can you run *AFTER* you have done the above, mktexlsr /usr/share/texmf and retry to configure texlive-base I suspect there's some weird interaction going on here. When I run the postinst script from the command line, it works, when it's run by dpkg, it doesn't work. Not sure what's happening here. I.e. something like: Build-Depends: libfoo-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386] This is problematic because it will fail for any future kfreebsd-* or hurd-* architecture (like the upcoming kfreebsd-mipsel port). I.e. something like: Build-Depends: libfoo-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386] This is problematic because it will fail for any future kfreebsd-* or hurd-* architecture (like the upcoming kfreebsd-mipsel port). The correct way would be to use dpkg architecture wildcards, e.g.: Build-Depends: libfoo-dev [linux-any] Please consider making this adjustment to make life easier for future porting efforts.
