Rebuilt and uploaded as 1.34-1+b1 on Tuesday.
(No idea why neither the BTS nor the PTS know this version; rmadison
and apt-cache policy show it, and also packages.d.o has it.)

Cheers,
gregor

From the debian buildd logs for 0.152-1+b1 (copy/paste taken from
the kfreebsd-i386 one but kfreebsd-amd64 looks similar)

This is #570805.

openscap build-depends on libselinux1-dev, which is only available on

built on kfreebsd again.

aufs-tools FTBFS on all architecture.

first, aufs-tools needs matching aufs in the kernel to properly work,
therefore, the check in general is a good thing, and i'd prefere not
removing it so we can avoid having non-working-but-buildable aufs-tools
in the archive by accident.

at the time i've uploaded aufs-tools 3.0, the fixed kernel images just
entered the archive (see #644687), so the buildds didn't yet took it up.
by now, a binNMU would be enough to make it build on all arches.

the reason that this didn't happen automatically is also caused by the
fact that i've accidentally used a too relaxed build-depends on
linux-libc-dev, so that the buildds that didn't have the correct version
yet didn't retry later and were satisfied with the older, non-working
kernels.

in order to get this fixed, rather than a binNMU, i'm uploading a new
revision (with fixed linux-libc-dev depends, and while we are at it,
with newer upstream anyway).

But thanks for the work anyway, it's nevertheless appreciated.

Regards,
Daniel

Not started yet, I've been working on other packages. Your mail
prompted me to send a full status report to debian-ada@l.d.o, see
http://lists.debian.org/debian-ada/2011/11/msg2.html

Are the packages going to be migrated to unversionned gnat versions
or

should NMUers go to versionned gnat-4.6 ?

Per Debian Policy for Ada, all Ada source packages must build-depend on
both gnat gnat gnat-4.6. The reasons are explained in there:

Bug#646927: Bug#642612: ahven: diff for NMU version 2.1-1.1

Thanks for preparing an NMU for ahven. But I think the better approach
would be for me to prepare a new upload with the following diff:

diff --git a/debian/control b/debian/control
index 5322d90..57b5b7d 100644
--- a/debian/control

Depends: ${misc:Depends}, libahven21.0 (= ${binary:Version}), gnat-4.6
+Conflicts: libahven1-dev, libahven2-dev

The explicit conflict with libahven-dev is not required because this
package depends on gnat-4.4. gnat-4.4 and gnat-4.6 already conflict so
it is not possible to install libahven-dev and libahven3-dev together.

Furthermore I want my package to explicitly depend on gnat-4.6 (not
gnat). See e.g. the (closed) bug #533157 for the reason.

Please tell me if this is ok for you.

Great.

Are the packages going to be migrated to unversionned gnat versions
 or
should NMUers go to versionned gnat-4.6 ?

Per Debian Policy for Ada, all Ada source packages must build-depend on
both gnat gnat gnat-4.6. The reasons are explained in there:

http://people.debian.org/~lbrenta/debian-ada-policy.html

Why on both? This seems to just make transitions more painful (to you)… Why
not at least alternatives (aka B-D: gnat-4.6 | gnat ), or simply not-
versioned (aka B-D: gnat). Any Debian suite has one available gnat at any
given time (per the above policy), no ? The same goes for binary packages
depends.

Anyway; I don't intend to stand in your path; I was mostly interested in
getting those RC bugs fixed. As long as they get fixed before the freeze (or
the given packages removed from testing), I'm fine. :-

Cheers,

Thanks for preparing an NMU for ahven. But I think the better approach
would be for me to prepare a new upload with the following diff:
(…)
Furthermore I want my package to explicitly depend on gnat-4.6 (not
gnat). See e.g. the (closed) bug #533157 for the reason.

Please tell me if this is ok for you.

No problem; I just want to have the list of RC bugs go smaller.

I have just cancelled my upload to DEFERRED. Please make sure to upload those
RC bugfixes soon.

2011-11-17 Thread YunQiang Su
libtclcl1-dev is the new name of tclcl-dev, as tclcl has shared library now.

Mark libtclcl1-dev replace and provide tclcl-dev ?

Should I request ftp-master to remove tclcl-dev or waiting for its
auto removing?

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/include/tclcl/idlecallback.h
  /usr/include/tclcl/iohandler.h

I do not know the package (I discovered the bug by an automated test),
but the right solution in cases like this is usually to replace, provide,
and also to conflict with tclcl-dev.

Should I request ftp-master to remove tclcl-dev or waiting for its
auto removing?

Please ask for removal once you have checked that noone else depends
on tclcl-dev, or if your new package provides the old one.

Bug#649070: Bug#649071: ircd-ratbox/oftc-hybrid and charybdis: error when trying to install together

2011-11-17 Thread Antoine Beaupré
So what's the deal here - how come ircd-ratbox and oftc-hybrid do not
have the same error on their side?

Would it be sufficient to mark charybdis as Conflicts: ircd? or would we
need to explicitely list the packages?

Bug#648937: doc-base: trigger fails when Locale::gettext is broken due to perl upgrade

A similar problem bites doc-base's use of libuuid-perl. See:

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/doc-base/+bug/891257

Indeed, I have established that PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 is not a sufficient
fix for this problem in the case of libuuid-perl, because it doesn't
have any fallback code for that module being non-importable. It was
quite difficult to set up a suitable reproduction environment, but what
I did was as follows:

1) Install an Ubuntu oneiric chroot with the addition of the doc-base,
rarian-compat, and libsignatures-perl packages. (Remember to divert
/sbin/initctl and replace it with a symlink to /bin/true.)

2) 'dpkg-divert --rename /usr/bin/dpkg', and replace /usr/bin/dpkg with
the following script:

#! /bin/sh
set -e
if grep -q 'perl-base.*5\.14' /var/log/dpkg.log; then
sleep 3600 || true
fi
exec dpkg.distrib $@

3) Replace 'oneiric' with 'precise' in /etc/apt/sources.list and run
'apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade'.

4) The upgrade should pause immediately after perl-base is configured.
When this happens, start a different shell in the same chroot (don't
suspend the one running apt-get) and run 'PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1
install-docs --install-changed'.

 # install-docs --install-changed
 /usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/perl5/auto/Locale/gettext/gettext.so: undefined symbol:

I suggest the following patch. I think perl-base would then have to
bump its versioned Breaks on doc-base to force this new version to be
installed?

The extra dependency on uuid-runtime is unfortunate, but necessary with
this approach (and calling out to uuidgen probably is slower with lots
of documents, so it's worthwhile trying to work in-process if possible).
Better ideas appreciated; something that only used core Perl would be
cleaner.

 * Call uuidgen if UUID.pm cannot be imported, such as during a major
version upgrade of Perl.

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the

Bug#649097: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: psmouse.ko module fails to handle PS/2 mouse

2011-11-17 Thread Hughe Chung
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-38
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I'v been expericing PS/2 mouse bud in Xorg almost year. I upgareded kernel to
2.6.39 hoping it would solve the problem. However, it turns out the erractic
mouse synchronization error still exists.

In 2.6.32, psmouse.ko generated flooding messages like below. 2.6.39 module
does once or twice when it detects the lost of synchronization. Below is the
messages.
Nov 16 15:13:19 theblue kernel: [275921.510266] psmouse.c: Wheel Mouse at
isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away.
Nov 16 22:43:26 theblue kernel: [293066.497048] psmouse.c: Wheel Mouse at
isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away.
When it happen, window managers of Xorg takes up CPU instantly while loosing
mouse focus stop using Xorg, force to shut down Xorg in a termial. I tested on
fluxbox which is my main window manager, tried openbox too.

Here is a link I posted.
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6t=71950

The solution I found was to replace the PS/2 mouse with a USB mouse.

This is because gconf now builds with --disable-orbit, and that symbol
is missing from the D-Bus implementation. I suggest this patch (though
upstream will probably want to rework this into a Makefile.PL option or
something):

libgconf when it is configured without ORBit support.

Bug#648857: libdbd-interbase-perl: needs to be rebuilt against perl 5.14

On Tue, 15 Nov 2011 23:04:29 +0200, Damyan Ivanov wrote:

I suggest removal. There is libdbd-firebird-perl, which is compatible
(it is a fork), better and free.

Makes sense, the package has no rdeps either, and there was no
protest so far :)

Would a transitional dummy package built from the
libdbd-firebird-perl source package make sense?

Cheers,
gregor

Bug#649099: BIND 9 Resolver crashes after logging an error in query.c

2011-11-17 Thread sacrificial-spam-address
Package: bind9
Version: 1:9.8.1.dfsg-1
Severity: serious
Tags: security upstream

As you have probably heard, someone has found a way to remotely crash a bind9
server:
http://isc.sans.edu/diary.html?storyid=12049
https://www.isc.org/software/bind/advisories/cve-2011-4313

A stopgap patch (9.8.1-p1) is available, and should presumably be included
in a Debian release ASAP.

Severity only serious because so far it appears to be only a DoS.

This bug has already been reported, but it was filed on the _binary_

It should be on the source. Raised severity, reassigned, merged.

(Oh, and upstream is aware of it, also, with two different bugs merged

Because it didn't build back then there's nothing to binNMU now. Do you

To be honest: I have no idea. But debugging against an old perl
version doesn't sound very tempting, so I'd prefer to first check if
it builds now.

Since libmason-perl is the new kid, I'm taking the responsiblity to

/usr/bin/mason2 and /usr/bin/mason-cli.

I've prepared an NMU for spread (versioned as 3.17.4-2.2) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/2. Please feel free to tell me if I
should delay it longer.

Charybdis is based on Ratbox, but the code has quite probably
diverged, and upstream authors should probably have renamed the
library. As it borrows things from Ratbox, the Conflicts line is
clearly to be set on this package, which is sufficient to solve the
problem.

I've renamed all commands and manpages in ircd-ratbox to avoid such
conflicts with names commonly used by ircds to avoid problems like
#649071, but there's nothing i can do in this case, which clearly
should not happen. I just don't want to maintain a list of child
projects to follow, while the knowledge of such incompatibilities is
clearly in these projects, that's why i won't add a Conflicts on the
ircd-ratbox side.

Maybe we can lower the severity, but still why does it sometime's

There have been quite some changes in the ecasound package itself. They
happened just before the libaudio-ecasound-perl v1.01-2 upload. I think
that's why it used to build on corelli but now it doesn't anymore.

It's just a wild guess though, maybe contacting the mips people may shed
some light on this.

Bug#648937: doc-base: trigger fails when Locale::gettext is broken due to perl upgrade

2011-11-17 Thread Robert Luberda
Hi,

 # PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 install-docs --install-changed
Can't load '/usr/lib/perl5/auto/UUID/UUID.so' for module UUID:
/usr/lib/perl5/auto/UUID/UUID.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Imarkstack_ptr_ptr
at /usr/lib/perl/5.14/DynaLoader.pm line 184.
at /usr/share/perl5/Debian/DocBase/Programs/Scrollkeeper.pm line 21
 Compilation failed in require at
/usr/share/perl5/Debian/DocBase/Programs/Scrollkeeper.pm line 21.
 BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/usr/share/perl5/Debian/DocBase/Programs/Scrollkeeper.pm line 21.

As you can see the message here is different than the one in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/doc-base/+bug/891257

The UUID module is imported by Debian::DocBase::Programs::Scrollkeeper
inside eval block
(see
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=users/robert/doc-base.git;a=blob;f=install-docs.in;hb=198fa3f3e55f8d82e2807d986f50e5a699ddd1d3#l28)

If the eval block fails, install-docs creates a special
/var/lib/doc-base/info/FORCE-REREGISTER.flag file, and exits with error
code 0 so it should not affect upgrades.

The existance of the file should cause install-docs to re-register all
documents next time install-docs is called.

The message you saw if printed by 'warn $@ if $@;'. It might be a bit
misleading to users, I'm thinking about changing it in the way that make
it obvious that it's not a real error message.

The extra dependency on uuid-runtime is unfortunate, but necessary with
this approach (and calling out to uuidgen probably is slower with lots

scrollkeeper-gen-seriesid from rarian-compat can be used instead.
doc-base already suggests rarian-compat and won't call GenUUID() in case
the package is not installed.

However the issue is that doc-base doesn't work with rarian-compat at
all (see #546208), so maybe dropping support for it from doc-base would
be a better option than trying to ensure the DocBase::Scrollkeeper
module remains usable on perl upgrades.

Regards,
robert

I suppose Data::Alias is corrupting the stack somehow.

This is related to

Subject: [PATCH] Save types have been stored in UVs on the save stack since
5.13.1

Upstream change c6bf6a65e4bf512beae58d59446 changed storage of
save types on the stack from INT32s to UVs, so adapt accordingly.

This probably only bites on big endian architectures with -Duse64bitint,
where the UVs are bigger and the first byte doesn't contain the save
type anymore.

* Dominic Hargreaves d...@earth.li, 2011-10-22, 22:57:

I believe that this is caused by old (and buggy libtool). Upgrading to
the current version should make this go away.

As a band-aid fix, please apply the attached patch and then run
autoconf.

Can you run *AFTER* you have done the above,

I suspect there's some weird interaction going on here. When I run the
postinst script from the command line, it works, when it's run by dpkg, it
doesn't work. Not sure what's happening here. I'll poke it a bit more.

This was with Perl 5.12.4, right before the 5.14 transition.

so we can see if the issue still persists with Perl 5.14?

Package: openscap
Severity: wishlist
User: debian-de...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: linux-any

The debian/control file in openscap uses a negated list of architectures
to specify a package relationship (most likely Build-Depends) on a
Linux-specific package. I.e. something like:

Build-Depends: libfoo-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386]

This is problematic because it will fail for any future kfreebsd-* or hurd-*
architecture (like the upcoming kfreebsd-mipsel port). The correct way
would be to use dpkg architecture wildcards, e.g.:

Build-Depends: libfoo-dev [linux-any]

Please consider making this adjustment to make life easier for future
porting efforts.

Thanks!

openscap build-depends on libselinux1-dev, which is only available on

built on kfreebsd again.

Package: openscap
Version: 0.8.0-2
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

openscap build-depends on libselinux1-dev, which is only available on
linux. You need something like [linux-any] to allow the package to be
built on kfreebsd again.

Cheers,
Julien

Package: openscap
Severity: wishlist
User: debian-de...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: linux-any

The debian/control file in openscap uses a negated list of architectures
to specify a package relationship (most likely Build-Depends) on a
Linux-specific package. I.e. something like:

Build-Depends: libfoo-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386]

This is problematic because it will fail for any future kfreebsd-* or hurd-*
architecture (like the upcoming kfreebsd-mipsel port). The correct way
would be to use dpkg architecture wildcards, e.g.:

Build-Depends: libfoo-dev [linux-any]

Please consider making this adjustment to make life easier for future
porting efforts.

Thanks!

I believe this is caused by old (and buggy) libtool. Upgrading to the
current version should fix the bug.

As a band-aid fix, I propose the attached patch. (You need to run
autoconf after applying it.)
