Bug#649384: [Gnash-dev] Bug#649384: gnash creates world-readable cookies under /tmp

We want to keep cookies alive when we requested to create a launcher.
This is because the launcher will reference the cookie file.

I don't think we implement that but libcurl also supports
reading cookies back in, which would allow us to send cookies
obtained by Gnash http requests back to the browser if the plugin
code takes care of doing that part.

In any case, the plugin should know if we want or not a launcher
(only way to it is an env variable, and is the plugin itself creating
the launcher) so you could cleanup the cookies if no launcher was
requested...

A safe way to put them in /tmp/ is still preferrable to me.
They are not really meant to survive a single instance of the
standalone player (except for the launcher case).

This is clearly not a critical bug. Please don’t abuse bug severities.

Ok sorry. Can I do something to fix the severity?

* Does the “GNOME” session fail to switch automatically to
fallback mode? If so please provide the glxinfo output.

No. Actually fallback mode is working as expected. The problem is when I
try to enable gnome-shell with gnome-shell --replace.
There is something I can try ? As you said in KVM there isnt GL support,
but I have direct rendering enabled and mesa-utils are working properly on
the SPICE display.
Is this normal?

Thank you for your support

Bug#649451: hard-coded gzip-only support in apt-cdrom

2011-11-21 Thread David Kalnischkies
On Mon, Nov 21, 2011 at 01:26, Steve McIntyre st...@einval.com wrote:
I've just added support for translated description files into
debian-cd, creating Translation-$LANG.bz2 on CDs to match the
archive. A problem report from a user shortly afterwards described
apt-cdrom issues using a DVD generated with this new code. [1] I've
dug through the code in cdrom.cc and tagfile.cc and I've found that
apt simply does not support .bz2 versions of the Translation files
*from CD*. AFAICS it *does* support them in the main archive via HTTP
etc. That's a bit of a surprise, to say the least.

I am not that surprised, given that apt-cdrom is touched only once
in a blue moon - last serious change is from 2009 (udev), the one
before that is adding Translation support in 2007, the 2005 change
is imported from the previous vcs… You get the pattern.
All in all its properly save to say that the code you looked at mostly
comes straight from the last millennium (literally speaking!)…

My personal excuse is that i haven't used it a single time, so i am
properly not the best one to hack on it, but i fear the rest of the
(lets count optimistic) trio seems to have the same excuse…

So after this little rant^Whistory lesson (which hopefully prevents you
from expecting a response after 4 days next time as i could write more
of these stories otherwise ;) ) i am willing to promise to try to have a
look at it this week(end), if nobody else wants of course,
but we need testers either way - volunteers?

As it is, on CDs/DVDs we're stuck with only using gzip for various of
the index files now until wheezy+1. That means we're going to be
wasting (maybe a lot) more space on CDs than necessary.

You could ask stable managers for permission for a stable-upgrade.
+squeeze1 already adds some xz parts (for apt-utils tools).
Note though that squeeze doesn't support xz for index files
downloadable from the net, as i implemented it only in 0.8.12 after
hearing it the first time on debian-devel.
Not that it had ever reached deity@ or even the bts. As it is usually for
deities, they are expected to know everything and also before people even
think about it…

So sorry for wasting cd space, but time travel isn't stable yet and
my crystal ball was in repair in 2010, so i couldn't foresee what people
in 2011 expected me to have done. Given that my crystal ball is still
broken, it might be worthwhile to request the features expected to be
present in wheezy+1 NOW instead of then they are needed and serious
bugs in your eyes in 2012/3…

Thanks for consideration and best regards

David Kalnischkies

Hello the Debian Games Team,

As you know, we are transitionning from libjpeg62 to libjpeg8.
As mentionned on debian-devel-announce[1], please update alien-arena to
Build-Depends on libjpeg-dev instead of libjpeg62-dev.

I noticed that your package is almost ready (as it permits an alternative
Build-Depends on libjpeg-dev), but due to that, it will still pick
libjpeg62-dev first, which blocks the migration away from it.

I just test-rebuilt alien-arena with that alternative Build-Depends removed
and it compiled just fine.

Bug#646870: gs-common: doesn't depend on anything

Le vendredi, 28 octobre 2011 00.02:07, Jakub Wilk a écrit :
 Package: gs-common

gs-common is a transitional dummy package, but it's an empty package
that doesn't depend on anything. That hardly helps any transition. In
fact, it breaks a number of packages that still (build-)depend on
 gs-common.

Jonas: what about uploading ghostscript soon with the changes pushed to the
Git repository by Steve Langasek (that seem to fix this RC bug by an effective
removal of gs-common) ?

(Or should we not remove gs-common yet ?)

Cheers,

Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-6
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Hi all,

I had now repeatingly the same effect, destroying quite some work because
there was no way to stop that gnome-shell running maniac but killing
the display server:
- start iceweasel
- go to google maps
- select my places
- selct new map
- select import
a window starts where you can enter either a path to local file
or a URL. Clicking into the local file entry box should open
a file selector. Instead, the whole desktop just goes wild:
- Alt-Tab does not work
- killing a window with the cross in the right top does not work
- going to Activities does not work anymore
After killing iceweasel from the console, I sill have a white
box in the middle of the screen (probably where the file selector
should have appeared).

In addition, the .xsession-errors file is growing infinitely
and an incredible speed. I killed it at 3.6M (!!!) and about
2000 repetitions of the same error:

Bug#649502: geany-plugins: FTBFS: hardcoded amd64 path in geany-plugin-tableconvert.install

2011-11-21 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: geany-plugins
Version: 0.21.1-2
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

geany-plugin-tableconvert.install explicitly lists the amd64-specific
path usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/geany/tableconvert.so, leading to build
failures on all other architectures; could you please wildcard the
architecture name as for the other plugins?

  dh_install --list-missing
  cp: cannot stat `debian/tmp/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/geany/tableconvert.so':
No such file or directory
  dh_install: cp -a debian/tmp/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/geany/tableconvert.so
debian/geany-plugin-tableconvert//usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/geany/ returned exit
code 1
  make[1]: *** [override_dh_install] Error 2

BTW, the geany-plugins metapackage could probably stand to gain
dependencies on the new individual plugin packages.

Thanks!

Yep. I suspect the impact of this is a bit less widespread than the

Okay. I've tweaked the severities of both bugs related to this

not-quite-blocking-perl-transition status.

Serafeim: thanks for your response on this. Depending on how things

Bug#649451: hard-coded gzip-only support in apt-cdrom

dug through the code in cdrom.cc and tagfile.cc and I've found that
apt simply does not support .bz2 versions of the Translation files

Yes, definitely the same here. I don't even have a single Debian
CD/DVD/Blu-Ray disc. I exclusively install systems via network,
and do not use optical discs at all.

It would be great if someone who actually needs it takes a look
at it. That said, I have pushed out the following patch to
the debian-experimental2 branch, please test it (I didn't
test it, but it compiles and looks logically right).

Let's keep it simple and Cc the upstream author. ;)

Dear upstream author, the Debian project has a patch for jack-tools:

Hopla, that one slipped.
Thanks, fixed in Git, uploading in a breeze.

BTW, the geany-plugins metapackage could probably stand to gain
dependencies on the new individual plugin packages.

Yupp, was already fixed in git :)

Bug#643413: fix for jack-tools compilation problem

2011-11-21 Thread forum::für:
hi rohan,

i'm not sure whether i already contacted you about that (or whether
somebody other has), but:
i'm part of the Debian pkg-multimedia team, that maintains a number of
multimedia related packages in Debian, among them jack-tools, which is
your collection of jack utilities (as found on [1]).

recently, jack-tools have stopped compiling (see [2]) due to stricter
compiler settings.

attached is a very small patch that fixes this issue.
it would be great if you could include it in your repository (i have to
admit, that i miserably failed at cloning your darcs repository in any
meaningful way; that's why i can only submit an ordinary patch)

Package: opendnssec-enforcer-mysql
Version: 1.3.2-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
the preinst / postinst / postrm scripts try to call dpkg-maintscript-helper.
Unfortunately the name of the script is misspelled. Instead of a normal
dash (ASCII 0x2D) some other character is used, I assume it's unicode:
dpkg\xe2\x88\x92maintscript\xe2\x88\x92helper

Preparing to replace opendnssec-enforcer-mysql 1.2.1.dfsg-1 (using
.../opendnssec-enforcer-mysql_1.3.2-1_amd64.deb) ...
/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/preinst: 20: dpkg−maintscript−helper: not found
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/opendnssec-enforcer-mysql_1.3.2-1_amd64.deb (--unpack):

  /var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/postrm: 25:

After fixing this and rebuilding the package it installs fine.

Bug#649525: Transitional package ships current files

2011-11-21 Thread Luca Falavigna
Source: uglifyjs
Version: 1.1.1-1
Severity: serious

1.1.1-1 provided a new binary package, node-uglify, and made libnode-uglify as
transitional. Relevant files are not installed in node-uglify but in libnode-
uglify, as they used to be.

Seen in normal lintian output with a sid system with perl 5.14:

Use of qw(...) as parentheses is deprecated at
/usr/share/lintian/collection/index line 192.
Use of qw(...) as parentheses is deprecated at /usr/share/lintian/checks/init.d

I'd probably put this at Severity: minor except for the fact that it
somewhat obscures the interesting output that people are looking for.

Cheers,

Since a recent perl upgrade lintian prints several warnings:

They're a bit annoying because one needs to look out for warnings in lintian's
output. The warning about sockaddr_in6 has already been reported in #648938 but
I can't see any other reports about the qw warning yet.

Bug#649532: tuxguitar: obsolete xulrunner dependency

2011-11-21 Thread Julien Cristau
Source: tuxguitar
Version: 1.2-11
Severity: serious

tuxguitar depends on xulrunner-7.0 | xulrunner-6.0 | xulrunner-5.0 |
xulrunner-1.9.1. Sid has xulrunner-8.0. (Seems like there should be a
better way to express that dependency than updating a hardcoded list
every few weeks.)

Hi Julien,

There is a pending upload of -12 for this (see [0]), but I've been
trying to address another bug that cropped up in the meantime [1].

Also, there is a wishlist bug [2] for xulrunner to provide an
unversioned xulrunner.

Any ideas you have about how better to express the dependency are welcome.

Bug#649537: lvm2: lvremove only inspects the last char when doing an 'are you sure? [y/n]'

2011-11-21 Thread dblack
Package: lvm2
Version: 2.02.66-5
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

I noticed that when I ran 'lvremove' on a LV I wanted to remove that I was able
to type anything followed by the 'y' char and this would pass the 'are you
sure' prompt. Here is an example, which I ran on a real system:

root@vmdev3:/home/dblack# lvremove /dev/vmdev3-vg0/indexing.bepress.com-*
Do you really want to remove active logical volume indexing.bepress.com-swap?
[y/n]: noy
  Logical volume indexing.bepress.com-swap successfully removed
Do you really want to remove active logical volume indexing.bepress.com-disk?
[y/n]: ny
  Logical volume indexing.bepress.com-disk successfully removed

In other words, the idiot-proofing is broken and this could easily lead to an
LV being deleted and data loss.

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/lib/libratbox.so

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

Bug#649537: lvm2: lvremove only inspects the last char when doing an 'are you sure? [y/n]'

Grave?!

A known 'feature' - the code's been like that for about ten years now
and I've never heard of any 'idiot' being caught out by it. Maybe
someone'll submit a suitable patch to improve the behaviour some day,
but it gets no priority if it's taken ten years for anyone to notice
*and* care enough to ask!

Bug#649565: paprefs: incorrect module dir (#531251 again!)

2011-11-21 Thread Youhei SASAKI
Package: paprefs
Version: 0.9.9-2
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer, paprefs can't handling any modules because of
incorrect modules path as follows:

  % strace paprefs 21 | grep /lib/pulse
  access(/usr/lib/pulse-1.1.0/modules/module-esound-protocol-tcp.so, F_OK) =
-1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
  access(/usr/lib/pulse-1.1.0/modules/module-native-protocol-tcp.so, F_OK) =
-1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
  access(/usr/lib/pulse-1.1.0/modules/module-zeroconf-publish.so, F_OK) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
  access(/usr/lib/pulse-1.1.0/modules/module-zeroconf-discover.so, F_OK) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
  access(/usr/lib/pulse-1.1.0/modules/module-raop-discover.so, F_OK) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
  access(/usr/lib/pulse-1.1.0/modules/module-rtp-recv.so, F_OK) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)
  access(/usr/lib/pulse-1.1.0/modules/module-rtp-send.so, F_OK) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)
  access(/usr/lib/pulse-1.1.0/modules/module-rygel-media-server.so, F_OK) =
-1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

It's may be /usr/lib/pulse-1.0/.

Maintainer create
debian/0002-Dynamically-build-the-paths-to-the-modules.patch, and use
pulse/version.h in order to set MODULESDIR. However, currently
pulseaudio modules are installed into /usr/lib/pulse-1.0.
