I already have a new package on mentors looking for sponsorship that
also fixes a couple of other issues:

I have included also your unrelated change :)

Could we arrange for the package to be sponsored?

Thanks,

Bug#652598: aboot FTBFS in unstable

2012-01-20 Thread Michael Cree
Looks like the cause is that isolib.h #include-s asm/stat.h from
linux-libc-dev which conflicts in namespace with sys/stat from glibc.
 So in the spirit of

   aboot (1.0~pre20040408-2) unstable; urgency=low

 * Include userspace headers from lib/isolib.c instead of kernel
headers; this isn't kernel code anyway, and the kernel headers don't
work right on i386 the way they're being used.

 does this patch help?

The patch may be sufficient to get aboot building on most architectures
(which, I guess, would address the RC nature of this bug since Alpha is
not a release arch), but my recent test of building aboot on an Alpha
suggests that there are a lot more fixes required to get this package
building fully again on Alpha (the architecture aboot is intended for).

Also upstream is pretty much unresponsive and has apparently forgotten
the password to the official sourceforge repo, so Matt Turner (Gentoo
developer, who I have CCed) and I are planning to fork aboot so that we
can give it some needed attention.

For the purposes of this RC bug I guess I should try the patch on aboot,
build it on a PC and see if that is capable of making a working boot
disc for an Alpha. It may be a few days before I can do that.

Cheers
Michael.

After adding '--disable-elf-hack' on the 'configure' command-line in

in xulrunner.mozconfig, it compiles fine.

I have included the list of build dependencies and versions, including some of
their
dependencies that seemed relevant. If you need any more info, please ask.

Kind Regards,

Bug#656596: asterisk: SRTP Video Remote Crash Vulnerability

2012-01-20 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Package: asterisk
Version: 1:1.8.8.0~dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security patch upstream
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/security/AST-2012-001.html
(No CVE set yet, AFAIK)

An attacker attempting to negotiate a secure video stream can crash
Asterisk if video support has not been enabled and the res_srtp Asterisk
module is loaded.

I am not aware of any exploits to the issue. It requires the remote user
to be permitted to connect to the system but certain systems may also
allow guests.

No effect on the version in Squeeze, as Asterisk did not have SRTP
support before 1.8 and Squeeze uses 1.6.2 .

All three firmware-b43*.postrm run rm -rf /lib/firmware/b43 at purge
and remove time, i.e. every such postrm script shipped by one of the
firmware installer binary packages deletes files that were *not*
installed by that package.

Meta: I think this bug deserves priority critical since it breaks
unrelated software. I'll let you reclassify if you feel like it.

(BTW, it seems to me the tag for 1:015-11 was not pushed in Git.)

Thank you for maintaining this package in Debian.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8 (or 10.8):

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

powerpc appeared to fail with two seperate errors (ah the joys of paralell

s390 and s390x seemed to fail with relocation errors.

Bug#606959: logrotate script should set correct owner/group

2012-01-20 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Hi,

So if for some reasons the file is missing or has bad permissions
asterisk will not (re)start and nothing will fix the permissions.

This issue should be fixed before the weekly log rotation. I would
actually be quite surprized to find ownership explicitly set in the
log rotation configuration.

Asterisk's logrotate configuration already has missingok. I'd like to
close this issue.

Version: 2.1.637-2
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

The automatic builds of cp2k have all failed. On amd64 and ia64,
configure claims that the compiler cannot create executables, perhaps
on account of specifying -m32 without declaring the necessary build
dependencies (though I haven't actually looked at the source; that's
just a guess). The remaining architectures appear to be explicitly
unsupported, but the failure messages use an odd set of uname options:

have a look at cp2k/tools/get_arch_code
your system is a Linux-#1 Mon Aug 8 15:22:45 UTC 2011-2.6.32-armv5tel
but get_arch_code is not able to deal with that

Could you please take a look?

Thanks!

Bug#641242: Bug #641242: cp2k: FTBFS anywhere but (linux-)i386

2012-01-20 Thread Aron Xu
reopen 641242
thanks

The package with modified build-depends built fine on my amd64
machine, within pbuilder. But when uploading to the archive it returns
no luck on i386. Reopening the bug report.

I am building the package for i386 in pbuilder, will upload as bin-nmu
if got succeeded (very likely to be succeeded). But this bug should
remain opening because actually the build system does not recognize
other platforms. For some platform supported, i.e. i686, x86_64 and
ia64 at least, there are wired build problems on buildds.

It seems that llvm-gcc-4.6 should now be used. But the upgrade

Bug#656618: open-vm-tools: FTBFS w/ Linux 3.2

2012-01-20 Thread Hilmar Preusse
Package: open-vm-tools
Version: 2:8.8.0+2011.12.20-562307-1
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Today I installed the Linux 3.2 kernel, rebooted into it and tried to
compile the open-vm-tools for that kernel. The build failed, the relevant
error message is:

  CC [M] /usr/src/modules/open-vm/modules/linux/vmhgfs/fsutil.o
/usr/src/modules/open-vm/modules/linux/vmhgfs/fsutil.c: In function

/usr/src/modules/open-vm/modules/linux/vmhgfs/fsutil.c:610:4: error: assignment
of read-only member ‘i_nlink’

full build log is attached.

The versions of the open-vm-* packages are a little bit out of sync:

sid:/usr/src/modules/open-vm# dpkg -l open-vm-tools open-vm-source

When looking at http://packages.debian.org/open-vm-source only version
1:8.4.2-261024-1 is listed. Maybe updating open-vm-source to the latest
version would solve the problem, but it doesn't seem to be packaged.

Bug#656629: enigmail: OpenPGP menu does not appear in Icedove 8.0.2

2012-01-20 Thread Julien Patriarca
Package: enigmail
Version: 2:1.3.4-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

After installing enigmail the main menu does not appear in Icedove 8.0.2.
But it is present when I write an email. An XML error appears when clicking on
key management inside this menu.
The decrypting functions don't work either, and I am not prompted when
receiving a signed email.

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package starts processes where it
shouldnt. This is very probably due to not using invoke-rc.d as mandated by
policy 9.3.3.2. This is seriously disturbing! ;-)

Actually no, it does use invoke-rc.d to start the process. However, it has to
manually start it just for the process of configuration. Once that is done the
server is shutdown again and re-started with invoke-rc.d. From the log it looks
like the postinst believes the setup program failed to start the server and
thus doesn't shut it down which creates the problem.

I will check with upstream to figure out what's going on. In the meantime I
don't think this bug should prevent citadel from migrating to migrating to
testing so I downgraded the bug for the time being.

Bug#652598: aboot FTBFS in unstable

 does this patch help?

 Cheers
 Michael.

Here's the equivalent Gentoo bug report and patch/workaround:

https://bugs.gentoo.org/364697

Thanks,
Matt

Package: pomodoro-applet
Version: 0.4.1-1.1
Severity: important
User: pkg-gnome-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: applets-transition

Hi,

this package currently depends on libpanel-applet2-0 - most likely
because it provides an applet for the GNOME panel.

The introduction of gnome-panel 3.0 to unstable is imminent. In this
version, the libpanel-applet library has undergone large changes, and
pomodoro-applet requires changes to support this version:
 * updating to the D-Bus activation mechanism
 * porting to GTK+ 3

You might want to check if upstream developers provide a new version,
compatible with gnome-panel 3.x. Otherwise, porting is a feasible task
if you have a pair of hours to spare. If you feel like it, the
following guides should help you:
 * http://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/gtk-migrating-2-to-3.html
 * http://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/AppletsDbusMigration

For packages that provide other functionality than the GNOME applet,
you can simply disable it in the build and remove the
build-dependency if it hasn’t been ported.

For pure applets packages, you should ask for removal from the
archive if you do not intend to port it to the new interface. Such
packages that have not been ported when gnome-panel is ready to
migrate will be kicked out of testing.

Cheers,

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close Bugs which have been reported against this package

Bug#238245: license choice - consensus on dual MIT/GPL-2 ?

On Wed, Jan 18, 2012 at 07:42:05PM +0100, Francesco Poli wrote:
However, I think you should clarify what you mean by dual-licensing.

Dual-licensing is usually intended to mean that both licenses are
being offered and the recipient of the work may choose either one,
  according to his/her own preferences.

That is what I meant, yes.

Thanks for clarifying.

(TBH, is also the only meaning of
 dual-licensing I'm aware of.)

It's the usual meaning, indeed, but... one may never be sure,
especially in a situation where dual-licensing seems to be an
over-complicated way to license under the plain Expat/MIT!

If this is what you mean, then it should be noted that dual-licensed
under Expat/MIT and GPLv2+ is effectively equivalent to licensed
under the Expat/MIT, since the Expat license's permissions are a
superset of GPLv2+ license's ones, and Expat license's restrictions
  are a subset of GPLv2+ license's ones.

You're quite right (at least, under most interpretations of the two
licenses; cause with these things you really never know...). As in
other cases of dual MIT/GPL licensing, the point is being clear in the
fact that recipient can choose both . So that if they know very little
about licenses, but they know they like (or can use) one of the two in a
specific context, they will be happy without having to know explicitly
 about license compatibility.

Well, the Expat/MIT license is compatible with countless other licenses.
Following the same reasoning, one could argue that the Debian official
web site should be explicitly multiple-licensed under all of them!

I would disagree, but, well, I am not really convinced about the
Expat/GPL dual-license, either...

You might argue that this kind of communication precaution is
pointless for material such as www.d.o content, but after all ... why
not? I don't see it as confusing.

I think it would make a number of people (wrongly) think that the
Debian Project decision-makers know very little about licenses...

After all, if someone has to object
to this choice on the basis that it is too liberal, they will do the
same even if we present it as MIT/Expat only.

This is certainly true, but it was not my point.

Package: imhangul-status-applet
Version: 0.3+1-1
Severity: important
User: pkg-gnome-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: applets-transition

Hi,

this package currently depends on libpanel-applet2-0 - most likely
because it provides an applet for the GNOME panel.

The introduction of gnome-panel 3.0 to unstable is imminent. In this
version, the libpanel-applet library has undergone large changes, and
imhangul-status-applet requires changes to support this version:
 * updating to the D-Bus activation mechanism
 * porting to GTK+ 3

You might want to check if upstream developers provide a new version,
compatible with gnome-panel 3.x. Otherwise, porting is a feasible task
if you have a pair of hours to spare. If you feel like it, the
following guides should help you:
 * http://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/gtk-migrating-2-to-3.html
 * http://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/AppletsDbusMigration

Cheers,

We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

imhangul-status-applet |0.3+1-1 | source, amd64, armel, hurd-i386, i386,
ia64, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

--- Reason ---
RoQA; RC buggy, dead upstream
--

We try to close Bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they where closed
correctly or should have been re-assign to another package.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 638...@bugs.debian.org.

The full log for this bug can be viewed at http://bugs.debian.org/638093

a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing

Bug#652598: aboot FTBFS in unstable

Note that the source package upload must be accompanied by a build of the

built on alpha. So there's not much point in preparing a fix that only

Bug#656629: enigmail: OpenPGP menu does not appear in Icedove 8.0.2

Hi!

On 2012-01-20 14:33, Julien Patriarca wrote:
 Package: enigmail
 Version: 2:1.3.4-1
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable

 Dear Maintainer,

After installing enigmail the main menu does not appear in Icedove 8.0.2.
But it is present when I write an email. An XML error appears when clicking
on key management inside this menu.
The decrypting functions don't work either, and I am not prompted when
 receiving a signed email.

The problem does not occur on all installations, so lowering severity.
As already discussed, in Bug#656306, the problem is locale-dependent.
You should be able to work around the problem by starting icedove with
LANG=C in the environment.

Package: cryptmount
Version: 4.1-2

Problem is not related to Debian package. It was caused by lack of documentation
on how partitions should be configured and used by the OS before attempting to
configure and use them for cryptmount.

Hi!

I'm trying to figure out why python2.7 testsuite is hanging on
kfreebsd. Reporting as bug to track the status.

 * running the testsuite by hand makes it stop in

test_interrupted_write_buffered (test.test_io.CSignalsTest) ...

 * Running only the test_io part manually doesn't hang at all.

 * Adding a single print before the write [1] (line 2727) makes it go
firther but still hangs later on:

test_itimer_prof (test.test_signal.ItimerTest) ... ('SIGPROF handler invoked',
(27, frame object at 0x6181780))
ok
test_itimer_real (test.test_signal.ItimerTest) ...
call pause()...

[1] self.assertRaises(ZeroDivisionError,
  wio.write, item * (1024 * 1024))

Christoph

Bug#652598: aboot FTBFS in unstable

For the purposes of this RC bug I guess I should try the patch on aboot,
build it on a PC and see if that is capable of making a working boot
disc for an Alpha. It may be a few days before I can do that.

Note that the source package upload must be accompanied by a build of the
Arch: all package built from aboot source, and this package can only be
built on alpha. So there's not much point in preparing a fix that only
fixes the build on non-alpha architectures, and there's also not much point
in preparing a fix without a DD being in a position to build and upload
 alpha binary packages.

And that's a fundamental problem. None of us Alpha porters working on
the Alpha port at Debian-Ports are DDs, nevertheless we have over 95% of
the unstable distribution built, and would like to start work on getting
aboot fixed and updated.

So what are the possible means of getting around the problem?

Me providing a login to an Alpha with an up-to-date unstable chroot?

A sponsored upload of aboot? Does that require at least a DM to prepare
the package?

Cheers
Michael.

Could you become a DD? I'm confident in your skills and ethics, for what
little that's worth.

If that takes a long time, in the meantime would it be possible to get
an alpha cross-toolchain packaged so the package can be built on non-alpha
machines? I'd be happy to help with that. (See [1] for a starting point.)

Source: gjs

Severity: serious

gjs fails to build after the latest update of iceweasel from 8.0 → 9.0.
I tried updating gjs (patch attached) but I don't know enough of mozjs
and gjs to fix the remaining failure:

Bug#646598: Patch that helps

2012-01-20 Thread Troy Telford
The following patch appears to work for me; all I'm doing is changing the
script so it looks for the python2.6 binary, then the python2.5 binary. (the
default would also check the 'python' binary, which is a link to python2.7 -
and it's the use of python2.7 that is breaking things.

Bug#655506: iceowl: Fails to start with an XML Parsing Error

2012-01-20 Thread François Revol
Another reporter nailed it down to the iceowl-l10n-fr language pack.
 Do you have that installed?

I can confirm that removing iceowl-l10n-fr works around the issue for me
as well.
Icedove dropped using french at last upgrade anyway so...

It's not a proper fix though.

François.
